Bottom line great product listings great user interface BUT
1. If seller doesn't get their price they will just cancel the sale or not fulfill their side of the transaction, not ship the product and Ghost you until the electronic refund rule kicks in. Juanla1 has done this repeatedly even recently on a $1k tag heuer that sold for $470 catawiki image listed below. There's no enforcement and no consequence for a bad faith seller. There's no consequence to the many complaints being filed. Look at the seller profile, if they don't fulfill the transaction you can't leave a bad review so there's no disclosure.

2. Careful of indentity theft. Same seller tried telling us we had to provide our personal identification for them to ship. Catawiki does a great job providing the seller all information needed to sell. I've had 100 transactions deliver when fulfilled by seller (4 not fulfilled) so the information is there. Seller tried to get unneedeed personally identifiable information against US Customs rules... no consequence to them. They are still selling with no reprimand or investigative results. Imaged below. Seller is still selling and probably pulling their scam as they also didn't send product. Fake product sale with request for ID... fraud anyone?

3. If you email support for any issue product question etc it will be at least 2ndays to hear back if at all. It's very unmonitored, sellers are unregulated, and violations are unconsequenced. As a buyer you are on your own.

They give you lower estimates to sell and charge 12.5% the seller and 10% the buyer for a nifty sum of 22.5%. What a joke of website.

After Catawiki delete my review abut not serious saler, they apologise and give me Voucher code: A616-QBC6-F9ED after I recive this Voucer they block my account to don't have possibilities to use this.
And also I have item what I pay on the way. Avoid this unserious app

The so called experts are not checking the items personally, they just look at the pictures given by the seller, I bought an artwork "STREET DIAMOND" (AIIROH) from "mind the label gap" which doesn't give a phone number, adress or email, you can't contact the seller after purchase, I checked the shipping order, the address given shows me a run down place somewhere in France if you look at Google Street view, I searched for anything related to "mind the label gap" but there is no such gallery company what ever in this place. You can't find anything about them on internet absolutely nothing, except this fake page that seems to work as a cover up for this Fraud. The so called expert estimate was between 9'000 - 10'000 Dollars but my winning bid was 400 dollars +200 dollars shipping costs and buyers fee, import tax not included, how is this even possible, but what blow my mind Today, was when I saw a similar artwork
" STREET DIAMOND" from Aiiroh, do you know what the winning bid was? 29 Dollars! The price estimate given by the pseudo expert was 3'000 to 4'000 dollars, how can they give away something valued a couple of grants for just 29 bucks? The Netherlands seems to be a lucrative place for scammers and the Dutch government does absolutely nothing to stop them. Who ever reads this, please don't make the same mistakes I did, catawiki is the worst auction platform ever, they just want your money you don't get what you are paying for.

AVOID SELLS TRADEMARK AND COPYRIGHTED GOODS

Sells copyrighted and trademark items unlawfully.
They stall and try to let the auctions finished before following take down requests lawfully served on them under UK and International law. I am purseing them them for defrauding my company, My copyrighted images and videos and stealing my UK Registered trademarks. See my UK trademarks UK*******148 & UK*******791 & UK*******847. I also note that catawiki refuse to comply with the Equality act 2010 and their duty to make reasonable adjustments, this is classed as discrimination in the UK & EU. They also refuse to respond to Data protection requests for SAR under GDPR requlations, this constitutes a "Data Breach" as per UK laws. This matter is being reported to the ICO in the UK and i am seeking legal redress for the compensation this entiles me to!

How can I ever sell in confidence on your site again, when, as a seller- I HAVE NO SUPPORT AND LOSE NOT ONLY MY EXPENSIVE CHANEL MEDALLION BAG BUT ALSO- the MONEY THAT YOU GAVE BACK TO THE BUYER AFTER PROMISING ME THE SELLER- YOU WERE GOING TO CLOSE CASE DUE TO STATUS SHOWING AS DELIVERED?...

I am lost dismayed and disappointed you cancelled this order. NOW I HAVE NO MONEY - 510 EUROS
AND I PAID TO POST IT = ANOTHER 35 =
SO I HAVE LOST 545 EUROS AND AN EXPENSIVE CHANEL BAG WORTH ANOTHER 500 EUROS=1000

And NO BAG.
The buyer has been protected, catered to and refunded. The seller - Myself- HAS Nothing. No BAG and NO MONEY.
The bag has been stolen- not 'lost'

You, Prematurely, without investigating, not instigating liaison between Royal Mail and the Netherlands Post Office instead, hastily refunding this buyer who I now know did indeed receive the bag...

Ultimately, I am still out of bag and out of £450
Please pay me my £450.
Of course now you have refunded the buyer, it would have to be a goodwill gesture from yourselves.

Tax paid twice

From EUROPE I do not buy from JAPAN as you may have to pay the tax twice to Catawiki & to DHL.

The first challenge was to get an answer from Catawiki by CALL well after many days and many tries I got finally one agent but only once (today still trying & still unable to get the line)
During that only call it was confirm to pay DHL & that catawiki will be reiumbursing but without giving in which email address to send the receipt & RIB (I tried few email adresses but never got an answer).

I also tried to communicate through their WEBSITE be patient, it take time before getting an answer, and despite a lot of blabla I never received the details about where to send the document to get the reimbursment.
After many messages, Ending with an answer that the claim being over 1 month old can not be done by Catawiki & to contact the seller directly who refuse of any reimbursement.

I am on process with an other purchase from Japan with & facing the same issue.
Just paid the DHL Duty tax.
I FORGOT TO ADD, you also loosing +/- 2 weeks before receiving an official receipt from DHL.

SO IN SHORT IF BUYING A PRODUCT FROM JAPAN KEEP IN MIND TO ADD BETWEEN 50 TO 180 EURO, based on a purchase of 800 EURO.

اشتريت ساعه من مزاد بقيمة 139€ مع الشحن لم يصلني الساعه ولم يردوا مالي حاولت التواصل معهم لا يردون والبائع ايضاً لا يجاوب يبدوا ان هناك اتفاق احتيال بينهم وبين بعض البائعين أين مالي ؟ لماذا يقومون بغش الناس والاستيلاء علي أموالهم واين الرقابه علي تلك المواقع المحتاله لن اتركهم أبدا مهما كلفني الامر

After having happily purchased from Catawiki for several years, I had in August 2022 the most awful experience with both the seller and the Catawiki staff.
I purchased an item which arrived to me NOT as per the original description and not as per the original photos. The item cost me 200 euros, and the seller charged me 50 euros for transportation. When I wanted to write a negative review, Catawiki prevented me from doing so just because the seller opposed it. Then Catawiki asked me to send them pictures of the item I received and all sorts of documents related to the transportation. I did send them the information. Still, Catawiki would not let me post a negative review because (hear this)... I could choose to initiate a claim with the seller in order to find a solution. Seriously? The seller was dishonest and I just wanted to post a negative review (the same way we do on any website such as amazon, etc). That's it. I have no time to file a claim nor go to a post office and sent the item back.
I undestand now why sellers on catawiki do not have negative reviews (or almost none): it's because the buyers cannot post them. And this is to boost the bidding activity on the catawiki website. Really dissapointing and dishonest on the part of Catawiki.
PS: Catawiki, please do not bother replying to this review. I can see already the "rational and logical" explanation you're going to come up with.

PS: I decided to add this review here because Catawiki just wrote me back on an another website that they remove negative reviews on sellers in "extraordinary" cirucumstances. My review was a just plain vanilla negative review complaining about the product not being as described. Dear Catawiki, I will post a negative review online everytime you choose to respond to me in bad faith. So please keep going.

Habe mir für fast 400€ etwas auf Catawiki ersteigert.
Der Verkäufer schickte mir etwas, was nicht den Bildern entsprach und einen Wert von ca 80€ hat.
Direkt nach Paket erhalt, habe ich Catawiki kontaktiert und reklamiert. Als automatische Email-Antwort bekam ich, dass innerhalb 2 Tagen sich jemand meldet, ich solle deshalb mein Postfach im Auge behalten. Über 1 Woche später kam dann die Antwort vom Service Mitarbeiter "Mario", dass ich zu spät das Problem gemeldet habe und die Auszahlung 3 Tage nach Erhalt Paket an der Verkäufer geht. Lächerlich, denn ich kann mit meiner Email belegen, dass der Kontakt direkt aufgesucht wurde.
Diesem qualifiziertem Mitarbeiter Mario habe ich dann direkt wieder geantwortet, allerdings ist nun wieder 1 Woche vergangen ohne Antwort.
