Sold lot is at local collection point of the buyer. The buyer refuses to collect the lot without any reason since 21st of september besides does not answer my emails. In addition Catawiki stays silent after my three emails.
I was a private seller on Catawiki, I'm selling my unused watches, I am not a watchmaker. I have 42 sales and my customers were satisfied. My feedback and shipping performance is 100%. An item I sold was canceled after 3 months, claiming that it was not original. However, before putting the item on sale, its experts confirmed that the watch was original and it for auction. After 3 months they said the watch was not original. Parts of the watch might have changed during this time, but they didn't even think about it. They did not send the watch back to me. They stopped paying and I also didn't get paid for my uncanceled sales. I've been waiting for 1 month, they don't answer my emails, they don't answer my phone calls. The result is disappointing! I still have not received my money, reconsider your plan to sell on catawiki.
Bought a perpetual rolex discribed as 'perfect working condition'. When it arrived it seemed to be working, but the perpetual mechanism is broken so it stops after unwinding. Rolex charges almost 3K for this repair. Tried to negotiate to return the item and the seller would agree, but Catawiki is unwilling to reimburse the taxes paid by the seller and he does not want to return without getting this reimbursed.
No willingness to cooperate from Catawiki what so ever. Zero protection and zero assistance to find a proper solution. If you find an object you like, it's safer to buy it through the reseller personally than buying from Catawiki. They are basically adding more risk and ripping off customers rather than protecting them.
Sellers be careful: You will lose your time and be blocked from selling if you want to work regularly, especially in the Jewelry Category with Renis Carlos.
Dont waste your time here, better find another platform
Thieves! They forced me to pay 250 for a shipment they told me I would not have to pay! I paid for them to send me back, because otherwise I could not talk to the seller! And when talking to her they tell me that she is not professional and can not return the money?! But what is this?!
The order: Nr. *******
14. Vintage Industrial Cabinet - metal
NEVER BUY FROM THIS UNPROFESSIONAL SITE!
They have no buyer protection!
I spend high amounts on the vintage watches for my business on this site. Most of the watches come in not working condition which is NEVER described in the listing! Sellers are not responsive as they don't get punished by Catawiki! Catawiki doesn't help at all!
Over $1000 watch lost, the seller is not responding but still selling on Catawiki. No even option to leave a negative feedback for the seller just a neutral! It's jock not a professional site!
You might get a good experience buying once from them but definitely don't use it for business!
I bid for the above and paid £150 for 3 bottles I wasn't notified that my wine was sitting in parcel force depot waiting for payment. It showed on the tracking that I would receive a letter advisory of clearance charges. I found the number and found that the seller had put on customs declaration price I paid not actual value. I was charged £50 plus to get in cleared. I could have got the same in UK for less. I realise that after Brexit there is a duty payable now, so the seller should have advised what he was going to do then I had a choice to accept outrageous charges or to advise to put value at £70 not auction value. That's my last dealing with them I can deal in UK and forget 33% duty.
They will steal from you in every single way possible. Even if you buy something and is not as described or broken or even fake they will still take your money and give it to the seller. If you are a seller they will force you and handling over goods before you get the money and if the buyer make a claim you can lose all your moneys. A misery of a platform. Stay away.
I order my item before New Year, and now it is 21st March but I still did not receive the silver bracelet that I was charged for. I tried to email the seller a few times but no response, and I did not receive a response from customer service either. This is so shameful, I am so disappointed!
I have 6 complaints open on Catawiki for over 1 month and I have not received any response! Shame on Catawiki for the way they treat their customer!
My orders/Claims: ******* / ******* / ******* / ******* / ******* / ******* / and my username is 36f6ec6e5219.
Too many bad experiences as a seller.
As a seller I've rarely had such a bad experience. You have no protection at all. Catawiki see you as nothing more than a cashpoint to charge very high commission yet offer NO PROTECTION at all when something goes wrong.
My final loss on catawiki is around 200 euros. Why? Because the buyer sent me an incorrect address so the package was lost. Because the address is incorrect the package is uninsured.
Catawiki see this is the sellers responsibility so the buyer is refunded.
Tell me in what world this is the sellers fault?
I sold a few items and almost every time they put my items in the wrong category and they edit your copy for your item. I had a PROMO sealed Rolling Stones LP from 1965 and I stated that in the listing and took great photos to show it was still sealed. Michael Saffrie was the "expert" who sent me an email and asked me for pictures of the LP label. It's still sealed how do I do that? When he listed it, he edited that it was sealed and my $500 LP sold for $26. The Saffrie guy is killing the music section. I watch his auctions and they are all super low. He's running everyone off. We stopped selling on it. When Saffrie is gone we might go back and sell our great stuff.
I just bought my first item on Catawiki: 18 kt. Yellow gold - Earrings Blood Coral - Pearls... at 480 euros.
CISGEM experties confirmed my doubts: they are made of PLASTIC!
I am wandering who is the most responsible for cheating me, the seller or the Catawiki expert?
Moreover just keep in mind that Catawiki allows the sellers bidding over your offers and allows more and more minutes at the very end... whyyyyyy?
Received a mail from Catwiki that my account has been suspended with the following paragraph ending the email: Please note that due to the aforementioned breach, our decision on this matter is final and non-contestable. As your account is now flagged, further contact with our Customer Support teams will not result in a revision of our decision, and any new accounts will result in immediate termination
So I can't even contact them to resolve the issue, that is pathetic and I feel as if I am treated like a criminal.
Worst customer service by any website I have ever seen.
Catawiki made me sell chinese antiques from the 18th century as 19th century and did not care about proof of age or comparable items (luckily buyers have a better idea of the item, as the selling prices show).
An other object was under review for more than one month! After several emails, nobody cared and I deleted it from the list of submitted objects. A new one is already in Limbo for 3 weeks again...
Pre-Columbian Objects from a collection established in the 1960's... said to be fake!?
Two month later I resubmitted them. This time they got accepted... by the same curator...
I have seen items where more then ten years of experience screamed: fake... sell for hundreds of dollars!
Hands off this platform! If you are a seller and you are sure of what you got to offer!
When you are a buyer, you either get fooled by them, or find a nice antique for a small price, because they have no knowledge of what they are selling in most of the departements!
I bought about five times something at Catawiki and three times it was scam. And Catawiki does NOTHING! Avoid this pool of scam! Last time a watch of which the seller deliberately lied about the item (seller Aframes has admitted this). Catawiki does nothing. Be warned about scams and scammers at Catawiki. No chance Catawiki will solve this problem. No more Catawiki. Don't say you did not know from now.
If there is any professional... I´ll be an astronaut tomorrow.
Some experts there (I gess arounf 95%) have NO IDEA about jewelry... They thing that someone who has work in a jewel store for few months have knowledges to tell me that my pieces are not good enough... (I do travel by myself to buy them, I´m goldsmith) well... that one who tells that my simple black pearls is really an haitian one... HAHAHAHAHAAH! I´m just laughing up cause I have no more anger to express. Just burnt out.
DLM Alechinsky available from the publisher Maeght in perfect condition for Eur 45 sells two weeks ago for £244, then incredibly last week £478! So I thought I would sell my copy... after having to pay my own postage costs. You guessed it I got Eur 45 ish LOL so blatantly fraud or money laundering
Expert like Carlos Peña Renis in a jewelry department is a very bad name for Catawiki.
Very Racist, unprofessional and he will waste your time and then close your account because he also sells on Catawiki.
We have noted that few experts are selling on Catawiki themselves and will deliberately block other sellers who are selling the same items.
Not to be trusted, does vouch for its sellers, does not guarantee performance of its vendors. I've purchased an item and paid for it and for the shipping. When it was not delivered, Catawiki didn't do anything either to discipline or to delist the vendor.
Answer: It's a very poorly run 'legit' company. No chain of command, lots of departments working against each other
Answer: There is customer support but you'll have to be patient. It can take weeks for them to get back to you. Buyers are protected, you just need to push and keep pushing. Sellers are required to send everything with tracking and insurance, so you should be OK.
Answer: Promise of something different. Sadly different is very. Very bad!
