Tiffany Schlumberger X Ring Platinum was purchased, confirmed and charged on credit card. Order was cancelled 4 days later due to item lost in robbery but not taken out of seller's inventory. The 2nd choice of same ring was coincidentally sold on same day as cancellation by another seller, and still appears on website as available. Credit card has been refunded, but not automatically. Yet another step to contact Customer Service. Sorry never again.
I am an artist dealer and collector on 1stDibs. I have found authentic Hudson River school paintings for sale at reasonable prices. All art dealers are verified which gives me confidence shopping here.
It is a luxury items ecommerce website that offers the convenience of never leaving home to find extraordinary, sometimes rare, quality authentic items. I have shopped at this site and was never disappointed by it's professional and easy design. It's like looking at Town and Country magazine, however with options to buy directly from dealers. This is the reason the prices are higher and I do not mind that if I know I am getting authentic, quality rare works that are sold from verified dealers. And there are many sales and deals! It is not true that items cannot be returned. Every seller I have encountered has a generous, no questions asked, 2 week return policy. If you are looking for quality artworks, verified sellers and great deals, look no further.

I found a gorgeous piece from a foreign artist. Getting it has been a nightmare with absolutely no competent help from 1st Dibbs. I won't be shopping through this platform with pretty pictures but no customer service any time soon.

Our gallery, Photorealism of Boca Raton, has been a seller on 1stdibs for over five years, and as such, we would like to address the sellers' comments posted here. We have had significant success on 1stdibs. We sell several pieces per month, and these sales are to people who most likely would not have found us just doing an online search. Many become regular customers who give our pieces to others as gifts. Many sellers here are complaining that belonging to 1stdibs is not worth it; we just wanted people to know that there are sellers, us for example, who are happy with the expenditure and experience.
Bought a Cartier ring that was probably stolen at the postal office. Seller blamed me for redirecting the parcel to the parcel shop. Said parcel shops are not safe. 1stDibs was not helpful in getting justice for me. So I lost 2000 euro. Thank you 1stDibs.
I ordered a LeVian ring and they sent me the wrong one. Despite it was their fault, I sent it back but they didn't give my money back. I called multiple times and they still have not resolved the issue. Don't buy anything through this site or you could lose your money as I did. Please, don't trust this Company. They are going to keep your money like scammers!
A piece arrived with a big crack down the middle. It had cost me $3000. I refused to accept this piece from the shipper. 1stDibs did an investigation and told me it was my fault because the original photos had shown a line in the table even though it wasn't an actual crack and nowhere in the description was a crack indicated.
I made an offer on a piece to 1st dibs and they send me an acknowledgement on my email. It had the piece and the offer and in payment information it had the usual xxxx with 4 last digits of my credit card. Then above it was my whole credit card number. I could not contact them as no phone on the site and email was to take 24 hours so I had to cancel my credit card for fear someone who had access in the sellers or 1st dibs(or a hacker) would use my credit card without authorization. I got no reply from 1st dibs from the email to them except they cancelled my order. Beware of your payment information dealing with 1st dibs as mine was not securely used.

The ring arrived with a small chip on it. It came late at night so I didn't notice it. I contacted 1st Dibs within 48 hours (as they advertise 3 day return policy). They said because it was worn the return policy was not valid. There was no evidence of wear, no tag on the ring. It was not in condition advertised. First and last time purchasing on 1st Dibs, I do not recommend.
1st Dibs is absolutely incorrect. My message did not say I had worn the ring. I said I said I went to wear it to dinner when we saw the chip on the stone. I sent my return request before dinner and never wore it. I even followed up but they didn't care. The 3 day warranty simply doesn't. Exist.
My letter to 1stdibs after seeing in person a dining table I trusted pictures and description of, hiding very problematic areas. I initiated a return requesting to be granted their Buyers Protection plan…
I understand you lost this dispute. I have been reimbursed the whole amount. You never took my complaints seriously, you never contacted the seller to ask if what I was communicating to you was true. You denied my request to qualify under the Buyer's Protection plan you promise on your website. American Express performed an investigation and found that 1stdibs didn't deliver what was promised. Why would I ever buy anything through 1stdibs ever again, paying premium prices and fees? Why would I do that, when my rights as a customer are completely disregarded? From now on, I will buy directly from sellers.
An expensive piece of art arrived damaged and 1stDibs is ignoring their own customer guarantee policy. I have been trying for weeks to get help with no resolve. This is by far the absolute worst customer service I have experienced, and this is after me purchasing quite a few pieces of expensive art in the last year via them. Their customer protection policy has been completely ignored. I have had to involve my credit card company to do a charge-back on their merchant account. Don't buy anything from this site unless you're fully prepared to walk away from your money, or go through the hassle of involving your credit card company.

I bought an expensive piece of furniture on 1stDibsds ($3400) and paid an extra $599 for shipping. I received a tracking number and an expected range of dates for the delivery window. The delivery window came and went, so I tried contacting the seller first for a status update. Since 1stDibs manages white glove shipping for their sellers, he had to contact their support team to provide me with an update. But more than 24 hours later, the seller hadn't gotten a response from 1stDibs. So as a buyer, I contacted their support team -- via the only option available, which is Text. The support agent took forever to reply (about 23 minutes) and threatened to end the conversation while I was still typing a reply less than 3 minutes after their initial acknowledgement. I made several efforts to get an update with only a "we'll contact the shipper and get back to you" as a response. I sent 2 more angry messages to 1stDibs and finally got a text message from a shipper. He's an independent driver with no warehouse/hub in my locale. His truck was broken down about 1200 miles away and he didn't have a definitive ETA. But since I was heading out of town, I asked what happens if I'm gone when he finally makes it to Seattle? And basically my only option is to wait another month or more until he makes another delivery to my area. Are you kidding me?! This is what a $600 shipping fee gets you?! No communication or status updates unless you threaten the support team, and then find out that their cut rate shipping service is going to take an extra 6 weeks because they are cutting corners?! I will NEVER buy from 1stDibs again. Horrible support and shipping experience.
I have ordered several items from 1st Dibs but found that when a seller, Florida Regency out of West Palm Beach, FL, sent me an item that is more damaged than described, I was unable to return it. I went through proper channels but the company sided with the seller despite photographic evidence to the contrary. The seller assured me that the damage was barely noticeable yet the item is unuseable in the living room staging it was purchased for. I have included just a few of my 36 photos of different damaged locations. I suspect that 1st Dibs sides with their sellers generally. Be very sure before you purchase and never purchase anything with "barely noticeable" damage. I was clearly too trusting. I will never purchase from 1stDibs again. Politely followed up but unfairly judged this one.

Answer: It's a real company. But as I have learned by experience their policies and buyer protection are a scam. They mark up prices and sell high. You over spend and no way to get a refund. I'm highly disappointed in their ethics. Don't buy, look elsewhere.
