The company's reputation is significantly marred by widespread customer dissatisfaction, primarily concerning its review management practices and aggressive advertising tactics. Many users express frustration over hidden reviews, perceived extortion for advertising, and a lack of genuine customer support. Positive aspects are scarce, with some customers appreciating the platform's potential for connecting with local businesses. However, the overwhelming sentiment reveals a distrust in the company's ethics and practices, leading to calls for accountability and transparency. Overall, the feedback indicates a critical need for Yelp to address these serious concerns to rebuild trust among its users.

Wish I had seen these review before I jumped on board for the $300 worth of "free advertising" crap. The good news is they only got $158.00 but when I called to cancel she stated that the "clicks" were for the previous month and I had 50 of them at $3.00 per click. If that's the case then why do I owe $7.98 for two clicks for the month of October? Clearly my "clicks" aren't actually $3.00 but are a fixed scam price. I read the "terms" and they have this catch-all verbiage which classifies a "click" as pretty much anything they want. I got ZERO leads and she said it was because I didn't post enough pictures of my office! Which would have been good information while THEY were paying for the "clicks" in the promotion... and it's a joke. I see many reviews about the same problem and I see I'm lucky to only be out $150.00! American Express sends text messages with each charge to my account and I just got the text yesterday or I'd be out much more, I'm sure. THANK YOU AMERICAN EXPRESS... YOU HAVE ALWAYS BEEN THE BEST!
I'm disgusted by Yelp. They admit that they choose which reviews to post, and the rest are hidden as "not recommended." If the review is negative, they give it a greater weight for posting. The rest of the reviews they hide as "not recommended." Yelp ruins hard earned reputations by doing this. So based on the Yelp algorithm, for those of us who do not sit around and post Yelp reviews all day, if a person does one review and it's negative, it gets posted. If someone else does one review and it's positive, it gets hidden as not recommended. If you want to get a review posted, you have to either write a negative review, or be a serial reviewer for multiple businesses---that's how the algorithm works. Mapquest needs to stop picking up Yelp reviews. The nation is getting disgusted with Yelp, and Mapquest is going to go down too if they don't get a clue.
Don't ever believe in Yelp reviews they don't show half the good ones that people have they sabotage your company I wouldn't be surprised if they go out of business with the next couple years and there's a lot of people right now suing them don't believe anything on you
In the past years I would always receive calls from yelp rep offering me to upgrade and improve my business on yelp but many times I would tell them that I would call back when I'm interested and ready. So back in July I get a call again from Yelp this time offering me a promotion about "yelp leads" and that it's free! For the first months and that I would start paying from August and onwards and rep told me that I could withdraw from the program at anytime. So joined the program but I would discover in july that I had an outstanding balance on my account so when I called to inquire about this it turns out that I'm getting charged for July but paying it in August that's "what free for the first moths means to yelp". So when I told yelp that I was told it was free and that the rep offered me this as a promo they still told I have to pay then I told them to transfer me to the same rep who offered me the promo so I can clarify with him and they still refused to transfer me because it's a call center. So at the end I still had to pay for something that I was told it was going to be free. A lesson to learn from any corporation is when they want to grab you to join them they will appear very easy going but after you join them and they get money they would start to get tough on you. As a matter of fact when I spoke to the rep back in July who offered me the promo I asked him to at least email me so information pertaining to the promo so I can have it on paper he told me that there isn't and that I can refer to the website. Yelp is a scam and a horrible company to deal with. I recommend everyone not to deal with them.
Yelp claims to be a site for people to write reviews yet they control what reviews are shown based on whether the business being reviewed pays them for advertising or not. Pay Yelp for advertising and better reviews will show on your business page. Don't pay Yelp for advertising and count on any Bad review you have ever had to stay on Top of the review list and for good reviews to get filtered into the "not recommended" folder.
Yelp is literally a business that Bullies and Harasses you to advertise with them or else... They should be fined and banned. The owners should be arrested for racketeering.
Great customer services for anyone who has a question or concern. They called when something was questionable, to make sure the info was correct!
I understand the importance of giving consumers a voice, but the reality is that Yelp hurts small businesses. Customers are holding businesses hostage over "giving them a bad review" if they don't do what they say. I take any review from here with a grain of salt.
Before I decided to take a chance an advertise with yelp I had read other negative reviews warning people like myself and still I did it. And now it has turned out to be one of the biggest mistake I've ever made. I agreed to take advantage of their free and 1 month into the free ad I received a notification from my bank that my account is charged almost $500 from yelp. I disputed it and canceled the free add run and weeks later I was charged again for the same amount. Please please save yourself the headache and getting robbed. Do not advertise with yelp, do not give them your card information they are crooks. PERIOD!
I like the service for locating restaurants and shopping, but they are the most annoying when it comes to advertisements. I can't get them to stop calling. I finally just blocked the marketing number, but in my blocked voicemail folder I see that they're still trying.
I had a yelp account for marketing then cancelled which was a nightmare too much money for nothing then challenging to cancel. That aside I am so annoyed by their "review algorithm" I have had all 5 star reviews half of which they will not post because the algorithm say they don't review often enough. Even though each reviewer offered to call Yelp and verify their review. I am not sure how anyone would continue to write reviews when they supposedly don't count the first ones. My market is busy woman over 40 that don't spend all day reviewing places. So half of my 5 star reviews don't show. When you call they blame it on the algorithm Like that is a real answer. Super frustrating!
I am a long time yelp user. I mostly use them to find the best restaurants to check out. Mostly a great experience. Thank you yelp!
Yelp is a very bad deal 3 leads 2 clicks to web site 1 click to call action.
My $300 sign credit turn into $49.00 so the first month $432.99 for no calls or emails.
Save your money don't pay for a yelp add.

$129 for 4 clicks in one week. Oh, and they lied when they said it would only be a couple minutes to sign up after I told them I am on a customers property. No respect!
Awful. Just plain AWFUL.
I help my wife manage her restaurant which she owns & is head chef.
Yelp. Tries constantly to get us to claim our business wouldn't "thrive" if it wasn't for reviews & site clicks.
I DON'T BUY IT. My wife doesn't either.
It's her art of fine cuisine & her ability to maintain business through thick&thin... NOT an outside entity laying claim to it.
Sure... we'd like to see a slight increase in business (who wouldn't)... but not at the effort of continuing an ALREADY annoying phone sales pitch I've shot down 3 times & ignoring patrons that just walked in... RETURNING PATRONS that have NEVER clicked on the Yelp link.
That's the 4th Yelp rep that has pulled that "just 2 more minutes" stunt...
I think my wife's café patrons are more important than some 1/2 baked guilt trip into buying "special effects" to the Yelp link.
I wonder how long it will take to have my password to the account "fail" again so I have to talk to one of the rep bozos to "unlock" it... AGAIN.
Absolutely terrible phone call. AGAIN.
Everything they said was way overblown, then they charge your account with NO advance warning. I got 1 contact in 3 months and was charged $450 for it.
Negative reviews are highlighted by Yelp, unless business being reviewed advertises with them. This form of business practice is unethical because unless you are a paying customer advertising on Yelp, only the bad reviews are shown.
Normally business who advertise with Yelp get good reviews, I am a business owner and I had few good reviews on yelp and only one bad review, yelp reps called me many times and remind me of how good my reviews were and I should advertise with them to get more good reviews and not to have competitors advertisement on my page, however the traffics from yelp for my business were about 10 to 12 per month in average and to pay $300 -$400 a month did not worth it, after few times with different sales people, I decided not to advertise with them, with in few days all my good reviews were delted from yelp and I was left with only one bad review, worst part is that any good reviews will not be posted since then. I called them and they explained they were not within their guide lines, but I asked why now those review were there for few years and your salespeople called me and used them to sell me products.
To make a long story short, I suggest to only use none advertisers review from yelp and consider other sources for fair reviews.
I had a business 15 years ago and it was closed down they still let reviews be posted on to it by cons but after addressing it they said they stand by the reviews on a closed business, they call it yelp it should be called HELP.
Answer: Yes, it's true or they go to "not recommended"
Answer: Yelp are crooks, find some where else
Answer: For one of my business they made me pay for their monthly service which I never did, so my positive review was hidden.
Answer: Look somewhere else. As the reviews here show Yelp is notoriously unreliable.
Answer: Yes they erase all reviews they darn well wish to delete. CROOKED YELP!
