The company's reputation is significantly marred by widespread customer dissatisfaction, primarily concerning its review management practices and aggressive advertising tactics. Many users express frustration over hidden reviews, perceived extortion for advertising, and a lack of genuine customer support. Positive aspects are scarce, with some customers appreciating the platform's potential for connecting with local businesses. However, the overwhelming sentiment reveals a distrust in the company's ethics and practices, leading to calls for accountability and transparency. Overall, the feedback indicates a critical need for Yelp to address these serious concerns to rebuild trust among its users.

I just want to warn the public of an aggressive dog at Mcnallys appliance in marysville ca. Was visiting the store to let my autistic grandson look at appliances. Was greeted by a dark gray pitbull type dog. The dog began to growl at us and I yelled for store personnel and nobody came out. I yelled louder and louder and finally someone from the back whistled for the dog. And said not to worry that the dog would not hurt you. WTF.! They never came out to help. We slowly walked out of the store all the while the dog still growling. Time to lawyer up.
I tried to cancel my ad campaign 5 times and got hung up on 5 times. So I called the credit card company and they got it done and then Yelp sent me a message and when I called the dispute #*******021, they even hung up on me! I wasn't even mad or acting angry but what a crappy way to treat your advertisers!
Yelp screens out so many reviews. But companies pay them to do this so they can make money. The consumer is the one that gets hurt by using Yelp's manipulated reviews.
This is a review of Kar Tunes on Alameda at in Los Angeles and this place is absolutely terrible. I stood at the front of the establishment for about 20 minutes waiting for assistance but no one ever approached or asked if I needed help. Once I did ask for service, they Had me wait over an hour more to have my stereo fixed just for some kid with a bad attitude to tell me there was nothing he could do without checking anything! I then went to one of the owners and asked why they had me wait instead of just telling me that they couldn't help me in the beginning and she just gave me a dirty look and repeated, "there's nothing we can do for you". Bad customer service and people who seem too preoccupied to serve customers. Definitely choose any other audio installation place than this one and save yourself a headache.
It says something when a yelp review of yelp on yelp is 1 or 2 stars. Had A yelp sales rep lie about how their system work, the cost, and lied about a $300 credit. Good thing I was monitoring the campaign tightly and was able to shut it down before running up hundreds in costly clicks. Called to get a refund on the two clicks that ran up $28 to my card because the sales rep said that the clicks were only $1.50 per click. And also figure out why the $300 credit did not cover the $28 spent. Now my company is having to do a charge back dispute. While I assume the sales person "Baqir Vanderhall" is continuing to lie to sale other companies on their platform.
I have something to claim about YELP.
I have a red and white notice on the door easy to read but unfortunately a blind customer did not pay attention and wrote that shop was closed during the business hours.
Yelp should check before writing any fake info.
It was the same when I relocated the shop. THEY WROTE: DOWNTOWN SHOE BIZ IS PERMANENTLY CLOSED.
I MOVED FROM 6th to 5th Ave and it took a month.
I advertised my own cellphone anywhere and is even written on the main door.
I am also available for deliveries even overtime.
They Promised me a great return on advertising with them and as it turned out they did nothing but charged me 300.00 for 4 days before I cancelled. Never again... They lie and cheat. How discusting.
Dealing with Yelp has been the worst experience in my first year of business. I would feel better if I was robbed at gunpoint in a alley. At least I can see the robbers coming instead of being robbed while im sleeping by Yelp
I canceled my yelp ad for poor performance in December.
I had a $150 monthly budget. Its March 2 and I just got billed for $450. They reopened my account without permission. I went online and canceled it while on hold with them. Now they tell me since it's canceled I can't fill a complaint for my money back. Btw, never got a single contact from the $450. Yelp is horrible!
Just got ripped off from Yelp - don't fall for their " free trial" - does not exist! Biggest scam ever!
I trusted Yelp to handle everything they went into my second credit card without me knowing but I gave them authorization never made not one lead would not refund me credit me or hear me check over $1,000 in advertisement which in return 0 do not advertise with Yelp
Agent called me several times trying to get my business to sign up told me to get free credits and not be charged anything and I started getting charging immediately every month afterwards nobody would speak to me about it and when I canceled it they charged me $500 there's no data to support any of these charges even on my web page for Yelp I don't have the clicks or leads.
We had a customer try to extort monies from us. If we did not pay him several hundreds dollars in a matter of minutes he would post all over social media and yelp about our business. We immediately filed a report of attempted extortion with the police department. Sure enough the next day it begins his posts and starts with Yelp. We notified yelp provided them the crime report number and offered all the documents to support attempted extortion. AND YOU KNOW WHAT? Yelp refused to remove his post saying it didnt meet requirements to have it removed? Can you believe this crap? I mean what the hell. Yelp is disgusting and would never pass the smell test the way they treat non paying business owners
I found that it is VERY difficult to write a business review on YELP because it is not an online consumer review site that is conducive to consumer complaints. First of all, there is apparently a maximum word length for each message, which the site DOESN'T infomr you of but merely STOPS your texting WITHOUT warning so that you have to continue it in SEPERATE sections! THEN, you CANNOT post the other sections about the SAME business the SAME day so you have to wait until the NEXT day to do each one IF you have a VERY long message with alot of detail as these online consumer review website CLAIM they like you to have! AS IF this is not BAD enough, you CANNOT post the sections as "continuations" BUT as "updates" of your previous review so that the sections are NOT posted in sequential order but with the LATEST FIRST and the EARLIER ones LAST. So readers have to scroll down to the beginning AFTER reading the LAST part FIRST and finding out it is the END of the message and NOT the beginning! And on top of it all, there is NO contact venue for addressing these problems to YELP in its website.
I used Yelp for the Business marketing and was in a contract for $300 a month clicks and $60 for preferred. November of last year I was charged over $2700 and Yelp Gave me the run around on numerous calls in to them. They told me that I was wrong and they didn't charge me this. I requested they contact accounting and nobody would. The last call was so rude that she insinuated I was trying to rip them off. She stated she was not going to let me play head games with her, also that she knew what I was doing and she was not going to let me get away with it. She would not allow me to talk to a manager, she stated she was the highest their was. I literally recorded the call because I was so astonished, it was over a 30 min recording. I had to get a third party involved and now finally should be seeing it fixed in March 2020, 4 months later. In the mean time, I told them to cancel my account in 4 different occasions and I just got notification over a month later. They charged me until then. Unless you want to get ripped off from this company who has the worst customer service I have ever experienced, I would stay far far away. With the experience I had, they should have no business being a active business, especially handling any sort of reviews for business when they have to be the worst company I have dealt with in a life time. They sell you a package and rip you off, that's how they make the money.
Our Marketing Manager was contacted by a Yelp sales person regarding a free $300 in advertising promotion. We were not going to participate in anything that required us to pay anything based on the lack of success with previous campaigns with Yelp advertising and we had no room in our budget for new unplanned ads. The representative walked our manager though set-up to show how it would work and told our manager that once the $300 was gone, the program would end and we would have the opportunity to continue if we wished. We are a non-profit Senior Living Facility, so once the program did not produce anything we let the program run out as we were told and we did not hear back from the Yelp sales person.
We talked with customer service after getting an invoice and the program was explained very differently. We were then told the $300 was to supplement our normal program, to which our manager asked "What program?", as we didn't have a program. The promotion was not explained by the Yelp sales representative that we would be charged if we did not cancel it, nor did we provide a credit card or agree to pay anything. Yet, both our Marketing Manager and now I have wasted countless hours of responding to Yelps inquiries.
The BBB will not do anything to lower their A+ rating due to them religiously replying to all complaints, even if not accepted. In reviewing their complaints they have been doing this at least since 2012.
I began with a Promotional offer of $150 that my Rep said I would not owe anything after that month. I was charged for this. She completely dissapeared when I tried to cancel ALL billing. I called multiple times, sent e-mails. NOTHING IN RETURN. Then I was charged over $420 for the next month. And again - no reply from my Rep. I have sent multiple email, called customer service multiple times, sent the chain of emails wanting to cancel everything, wanting a refund. Guess what -- DENIED! This company is a SCAM. Do not waste your time with them at all. This is a group of dysfunctional, lying degenerates.
Yelp is just a on-line bully.
I had 5-star reviews on yelp.com for my business. One day, a Yelp sales rep called me regarding advertising. When I told them I wasn't interested, they immediately hid all my 5-star reviews. When someone posts a negative review, however, they leave that visible. Yelp continues to hide any 5-star review I get. And, I don't ask my clients to leave me reviews. As a website builder and search engine optimizer, I avoid Yelp whenever I can. I don't link to them. I don't recommend them.
Answer: Yes, it's true or they go to "not recommended"
Answer: Yelp are crooks, find some where else
Answer: For one of my business they made me pay for their monthly service which I never did, so my positive review was hidden.
Answer: Look somewhere else. As the reviews here show Yelp is notoriously unreliable.
Answer: Yes they erase all reviews they darn well wish to delete. CROOKED YELP!
