Wyndham is a SCAM
March 27, 2023

The entire timeshare is a scam. They lie to you every step of the way. Each employee is a well dressed con artist. They prey on the elderly and people without access to the internet. Because if you had the internet, you'd see reviews like this - CLUB WYMDHAM IS A SCAM. DO NOT PURCHASE. If you want to get into it, you can find people giving their "property" away FOR FREE so that they don't have to deal with it anymore.

First point, they say that they have hundreds of properties around the world. FALSE. They have a few properties in minor cities. And it's hard to find availability. They buy cheap land in the middle of nowhere and build their scam centers.

Second, they won't give you your key until you agree to sit in on another meeting. And then they make you give them your credit card so that they take a $50 "deposit" that they won't refund you unless you show up at their meeting. And at the meeting, they threaten you and scare you and talk for HOURS. Even though they claim it'll only be for one hour. This already makes them liars.

Third, lack of transparency. During these meetings, they draw these weird little diagrams on pieces of paper to pretend to explain things. If you try to take a picture of it, they say you're not allowed to. Why would you not allowed to take a picture of something you'll spend tens of thousands of dollars on?

Fourth, they don't allow pets on any of their properties.

Fifth, they prey on your lack of knowledge. They thrive on your confusion. They want you to be confused. That makes you better prey. Easier to con.

Sixth, their hotels are old. They don't update their linens, and you can tell the bed sheets are 20 years old. They don't try because they know that people will go to their properties because you have to use your points.

Seventh, there is no availability for the good hotels on good dates.

Eight, it's crazy how these people can look you dead in the eye, smile, and steal your money. How can they sleep at night.

There is so much more. But at the end of the day, wyndham is a scam. Please do yourself a favor and SAY NO TO WYNDHAM.

In February of 2022 we made reservations for a stay at the Ramada by Wyndham in Anchorage, Alaska beginning 6-22-2022. These were for a handicapped accessible room, paid for up front and confirmed. When we arrived not only had all of the handicapped rooms been sold but our assigned room was not available until 11:30 that night. This is an older motel, built in the 1960's and remodeled in the 70's. Elevators and hallways are small and narrow. I travel in a mobility scooter and, as such, maneuvering was ridiculous. We were put in a standard room on the second floor. I called the front desk immediately and was promised a room on the first floor the next morning. That never happened. ADA rules clearly state that if a reserved handicap accessible room was not available the motel shall move you to another property where there is one, at their cost. Further, that once a reservation is confirmed, the reserved room is to be moved out of inventory. Apparently Wyndham did not get that memo. When I asked about a move I was told it was too late. At 11:30 p.m. it probably was. This corporation seems to take a certain amount of pride in it's lack of service, sloppy and unclean rooms as well as its employees lack of consideration. When I checked reviews I expected a low rating, but not this low. Out of over 1,000 reviews, Wyndham had a star rating of 1 out of 5. I'm sure it would be less but you have to give at least one star to post the review in the first place. I won't begin to tell you about the physical condition of the room. It seems that it is a common problem over most of the reviews no matter where you stay. When I complained to corporate I was referred to the general manager at the motel. Basically, he had no authority whatsoever. Corporate will pass the buck whenever it's expedient. We paid almost $1400 for our stay. The cost to have moved us to another motel in the area would have been about the same. Wyndham will be getting an invitation to small claims in Fresno in the near future. Would you really want to stay at any of the Wyndham properties with these problems?

When I checked in, Wendy, the manager, told me the CC I booked my res. With was declined due to fraud (she did not try my card, I gave her a 2nd cc, she told me fraud again... no verification or proof. When a CC is declined, there is never a reason given why the card was declined When I thought about this later, I find Wendy's behavior highly suspicious. I paid cash and was told I needed a $100 deposit which I paid. I got to my room and called banks - no evidence of fraud. My res. Did not list I has 2 dogs with me, Wendy got mad when saw dogs, demanded $40, told her I would pay when I was done with banks. Wendy banging on my door, was on hold with my bank and that I would be up to the front desk when I was finished with my banks. After finding out there was no reason why my cards were denied, I told Wendy I wanted to check out, she told me would not refund my room fee or $100. I went to my car, when I came back, Wendy physically blocked me from entering my room till paid dog fee. I told Wendy now I could not pay the fee as now as my purse and phone were locked in my room. She again told me I would not be allowed into the room I paid for. I alerted police from hotel across street. Police asked Wendy about room refund and deposit, Wendy refused to give back. I contacted Wyndham, Wendy told Wyndham she kept the deposit for the $40 dog fee and said one dog left excrement in the room which is not true. Two police officers were with me as I left the room, they surely would have smelled the excrement. There were several other incidents of inappropriate, vulgar language, and threats by Wendy directed at me. Trying to get a refund through Wyndham, but not luck so far.

Hotel hell
May 22, 2023

I had a Organization meeting Convention at the Wingate by Wyndham Hotel in Marietta, Ohio on Pike St. A 3 day weekend stay. Had to look at 3 rooms before I found one that was able to take and it was still not that good. I knew when I pulled up to the hotel this wasn't going to be good. Looked like a tornado hit the place on the out side, I thought the inside would have been better, wrong. So far out dated looked like everything inside was the stuff from when it opened many, many, many years ago and so was the inside. Not clean from the walls to the floor and ceiling, lobby, hallways, rooms and elevators. Looked like a kid fixed and painted the walls in some areas. I had to lay a towel down in the tub to take a shower the bottom was filthy the shower head was about to come off like a lot of other things in the room. There so called continental breakfast was a joke and the ice machine was broke. Also we had to keep on getting the staff to open the door to the room because the card key wouldn't work all the time. The bed had springs in places poking me in the back not comfortable at all.
I will say a few good things was the staff tried their best and was nice and their conference room was the only thing that was updated considering this was Hotel hell. Wyndham needs to close this place and fix it up if they think they will every get a normal person or a Organization, group to contract and stay. I would have went somewhere else like some of the other people did in the organization, but I had a lot of things to have to bring to the meetings and for people there to reach me. I prayed I didn't bring home bed bugs or something else.

I am now a diamond member with Wyndham. They have very poor customer service. The quality control is horrible! The vast majority of their hotels, motels, have hair in the tub, shower, roaches, and spiders. If the room has a wood floor it has not been mopped. On my last trip all 3 of the hotels/motels that I stayed at had a problem. I stayed at the older La Quinta with doors opening to the outside in Victoria Texas. The room had hair in the tub, floor not clean, poor TV reception, and a live roach on the breakfast buffet! The next motel super 8 in Weslaco Texas had hair in the tub, a roach, and the ice machine was out of order. There was a AC unit leaking water that could cause you to slip and fall on the cement walkway. They gave me a late checkout for 12:45, and the maid came and knocked my door at 11:30! This is harassment! The manager there has a bad attitude! The next hotel La Quinta McAllen convention center had hair in the shower! La Quinta was pet friendly before Wyndham owned it. They are now wanting to charge $25 to $75 or more. The La Quinta in Victoria told me no pets! If I had a dog they wanted me to pay $50 for pet friendly. The trip before this I stayed at 5 Wyndham properties, with 4 of them having major problems, and one with a minor issue! I stayed at the La Quinta West Memphis AR, and they had the AC set on 73. You can not raise it or lower it! The chair in the room was dirty. The next hotel Days inn Casey IL, room smelled of smoke, and the hallway. I had them change my room, and in another hallway. This was a minor issue. The next hotel Baymont inn in Noblesville Indiana, had hair in the shower, spiders, gnats, manager very rude! The next hotel Baymont inn Branson Mo, had hair in the shower, carpet not vacuumed very well. The next hotel Travelodge in Mcalester OK had a roach in the room, and the door would not lock from outside! You did not need a key! A lot of their hotels have black mold! I am very dissatisfied with Wyndham!

Super 8 Upland CA
September 26, 2022

Location was good for where we needed to be but that was far as it went. When we initially rang for information the lady who answered the phone was abrupt. We had seen rates on a couple of booking sites which were in the $80's but when i asked her the rate she abruptly said $100. When I told her about the other rates she again abruptly said "book online".
Due to the location, we booked anyway and luckily, we were only there for one night. There was no one at reception, the door was locked, and the sign said use the night window. I went to the night window and a guy strolled up and said in there, pointing to the reception area. I said it's locked and again he said in there. He was very abrupt when processing our check in.
We got to our room with about an hour to spare before we had to go out, so we turned on the TV. Most of the channels we wanted to watch did not work, so I went back to reception, told the guy, and he said he would be up in 10-15 minutes. He said that "with all the crazy people who stay here they probably pulled the cable out". An hour later we went out. The guy was strolling around the property. An hour after we returned (around 9:30) there was a knock on our door with the guy asking if he could look at the TV. I told him it was way too late; we were going to bed.
As for the room:
Two very small pillows that did not work for us.
Bedspread had cigarette holes in it (I saw another review with the same comment) even though it is a non-smoking room.
Curtain had slices in it, as if someone had sliced it with a knife.
Bed was hard and not very comfortable.
Air conditioning worked but was very loud and kept cutting in and out all night.
The bath/shower was dirty. We didn't need to use it.
In the morning when we decided to have a cup of complimentary coffee in the room. The coffee maker still had the coffee pod from the previous room guest in it. When I told the guy at reception, he looked at me as if I was mad then reluctantly said he would talk to the maid.
The breakfast:
In the small foyer/reception area. The juice machine was out of order. The coffee pot was nearly empty. We had to tell him, (when he decided to come into the office) and he again reluctantly refilled it. Breakfast consisted of a couple of packaged pastries, a few granola bars and some packets of oats. There was no milk for the oats. For the coffee there was just a container of powdered creamer and a container of sugar.
The only reason this place got a 1 from us is because of the location. The comment by the guy at reception "with all the crazy people who stay here they probably pulled the cable out" is enough to turn anyone away. Not only for the apparent level of custom, but for the fact the reception guy would even say something like that. It is rather obvious he has no respect for his own establishment.

I called to place a reservation for my 19-year-old daughter at a location in Colorado springs, the call center lady "Vanessa" informed me the hotel I chose you had to be 21 plus to check in and that she'd be happy to make me a reservation at one that accepted 18 plus nearby. She took my credit card information over the phone and placed the reservation for me and that she was going to send me some paperwork for authorization. 30 minutes after I didn't receive the paperwork I called the second hotel to make sure everything was okay and they didn't find me in their system. We got the reservation and my daughter got to the hotel about 2 hours later and when they tried to charge my card for the room it was declined because someone, "Vanessa," took my credit card number and ordered "Union Service Supply" (meal plans for inmates) and straight talk airtime from Florida. I canceled everything, contacted my bank, contacted the police, and then contacted Wyndham Customer Care to let them know they have somebody taking people's credit card numbers in their call center. After finally getting a hold of customer care, about an hour and a half, I explained the situation to the lady and there was a language barrier that took about 20 minutes for her to understand my credit card # was stolen from a Wyndham employee and it wasn't Wyndham having charged me twice. I still don't think she understood... it's been 2 weeks and nobody's contacted me in any way shape or form, "Vanessa" is still there booking your appointments getting your credit card information and stealing your $#*! so, STAY AWAY FROM WYNDHAM! (I'm all for that guilty until proven innocent but this is far too close coincidence for it not to have been this girl working at Wyndham and this is the first time in 40 years I've ever had my credit card numbers taken.) The call was recorded should Wyndham ever decide to investigate their employees.

ZERO STARS!
February 27, 2023

If I could leave zero stars, I would. My family and I had a HORRIBLE experience! We booked through booking.com, and the hotel we had reserved over a month before hand had given away the suite we had reserved. We would have been fine with adjoining rooms, but even that, they did not have. The desk staff were fortunately very kind and understanding, but that is the ONLY good part of our entire experience! We had been driving for 8 hours with a 9 month old, to pick my sister's husband up from the Army where he was completing his training. We had 5 adults, and a baby. We needed the suite or adjoining rooms to accommodate the baby's schedule.

We ended up cancelling the first hotel because they could not accommodate my family the way we needed, and we chose another hotel which happened to be another Wyndham hotel. When my sister called the second hotel before we got there, they promised that they would have adjoining rooms, so we got a full refund from the first hotel and went to the second. When we got there, the front deal staff was completely rude and extremely unprofessional towards us, and took five million years just to get us checked in. Come to find out the person had lied on the phone about adjoining rooms and they were only side by side. This was still not what we were promised, and definitely not what we needed!

At this point, the baby was extremely fussy and was already 2 hours passed his bedtime, so we decided to stay for the sake of the baby. Finally we got keys and when we got the rooms, the bathrooms were gross, one of the toilets had plumbing problems, and dead bugs were found in the sheets of one of the beds. GROSS! The entire hotel was disgusting, and someone thought that a coat of paint would fix the problem. On top of that, we paid $50 more per night at the new hotel than we would have at the old hotel.

When I called customer service to leave a complaint, the first person I spoke with was completely rude to me, could not understand what I was saying and purposefully made themselves difficult to understand after I asked them to clarify what they were saying three times (I live in a very diverse area, I'm good at understanding people through thick accents), then proceeded to claim reception issues, when I know there was nothing wrong with my reception and proceeded to pretend like they could not hear me. Obviously, I called again. This time, the guy I spoke to was much nicer, but he still was completely unhelpful and could not give me a resolution on the matter! It has been almost a week since this HORRID experience and I have not heard a word from corporate! This company is terrible! I have not had good experiences with Wyndham but this takes the cake! After this, I will never stay at another Wyndham hotel ever again, and I will tell my extensive list of family and friends not to give this company their business either!

Disgusting
August 28, 2022

Booked two nights at Wyndham Garden Duluth, Duluth, Ga in August, 2022. Big mistake! We changed rooms twice; ended up in a third room that was considered to be clean. The first room had blood, urine and who knows what the black stain was on the mattress cover, pubic hair on a towel, stains on the bed skirt, carpet was dirty and the bathroom wasn't especially clean either. Upon entering the second room, we were met by a musty smell at the door, only to find that the A/C didn't work, Finally around 10pm we settled in a third room only to be kept awake most of the night by the rattling of the A/C unit…. Sounded like an industrial fan. We checked out the next morning early advising the manager we were not staying a second night and asked for a refund. He informed me he could not issue a refund because I booked through a third party, that I needed to contact them for my refund. I booked through priceline and of course I contacted them to inform them of my experience… priceline told me that the hotel manager refused to approve the refund. DO NOT EVER BOOK HERE. Unless you like the following:
Blood stained, urine stained and black stained mattress covers, pubic hairs on your towels, gray towels that used to be white, dirty rooms, dirty elevators, dirty bathrooms, AC's that don't work, noise outside your room constantly, people loitering in the lobby, in front and behind the hotel at all times of the day and night, you want to experience what it's like to live in a halfway house, you're okay with people smoking marijuana in the hallways, couples renting the rooms for a few hours.(if you know what I mean)…
IF THIS IS YOUR CUP IF TEA,,,, then by all means, book here.

So I remember when Wyndham hotels and resorts was a quality chain and that name meant that you were pretty assured of a pleasant stay on your travels. Apparently that is no longer true. We booked a room on July 4th weekend to visit Gettysburg PA. I was looking for a room with two Queen beds and a pool for the boys. The woman on the phone had availability at the Super 8 in Chambersburg, PA and it had both requirements. We got there and the room was acceptable, clean and no bed bugs. When we went to the pool at about 8 pm, the boys and I were goofing around and not really paying attention to our surroundings. We headed into the pool... NJ asked why he couldn't see the bottom and Riley asked why the water was green. I got us all out quickly, and we went to the front desk to get towels to shower and get the nasty water off of us (there were no towels in our room when we checked in). The desk attendant said that she had only one towel for the hotel and it would be 30 minutes for more to dry in the dryer. When I explained the situation, she went into an unoccupied room and got us 2 more (3 towels for 4 people). We headed to the room to shower, there was no soap. The boys went to the front desk to get some and reported back that the desk attendant wouldn't even talk to them she just tossed them the soap. I went up to speak with her after that while Nick was on the phone with Wyndham. Today is over two weeks later and no-one has reached out. I called today to speak with a Wyndham supervisor and she talked over me, reprimanded me because I didn't inform them before today of the rash I got that evening, and just referred me back to the hotel. They are taking no responsibility at all and told me that they have no control over the hotel since it is privately owned.

I stayed at Hawthorn Suites by Wyndham North Charleston (07/10/20-07/11/20) en route to visit family. It was "the worst" hotel experience in my entire life! The floor was filthy, feet blackened walking from bed to bathroom; towels dirty and grey; pillows unwashed & found pubic hairs in the sheets. In sum, it was the worst hotel experience of my life. I will "never" ever recommend a Wyndham hotel to anyone ever again, gross.

I literally slept in my clothes because I was so grossed out about it.

***
After spending a sleepless night in the hotel room at Hawthorn Suites by Wyndham in North Charleston, South Carolina, I summarily went to the front desk in the morning and wrote up my complaint. "No Managers" were available at the time!? Why "NOT"? Why were NO managers available?

In my entire, life I have never stayed in a more disgusting hotel room such as this one. It was filthy and gross.

On my trip to visit family, I also stayed at a Radisson and a Best Western and they were wonderful and clean and welcoming. This hotel was the exact opposite.

There were people smoking marijuana in the parking lot. It was more of a poor apartment complex than a hotel.

Hawthorn Suites by Wyndham is "NOT" fit for the public. If Hawthorn Suites by Wyndham was bulldozed, burned down, and rebuilt it may be an improvement--maybe?!?

Furthermore, I should also note, there was no water in the pool and there were frogs living in the pool and croaking happily. Well, at least the frogs were happy?! What hotel has frogs living in their pool?!?

There was no complimentary breakfast whatsoever. (And while I understand, COVID-19 virus is happening, there is no excuse for this. Other hotels I stayed at on my trip, a Best Western and Radisson, had take away breakfast!)

In sum, it was the worst hotel of my life! Really, it was. I have to think hard when it was I stayed in a worse hotel.

I should be given a full refund with explanation in regard to how dirty this hotel, Hawthorn Suites by Wyndham, truly was and why it allowed guests to stay in a room so dirty?!?

No guest should have the experience I had at this hotel, ever.

Honestly, I stayed at your hotel because of the" name of Wyndham" because" Wyndham Hotels" was supposed to mean something. I had stayed at Wyndham hotels in the past and they were excellent such as the Wyndham Resort in Orlando, Florida.

Now, however, because of my experience with Hawthorn Suites by Wyndham, the Wyndham name means "garbage" and "trash" to me.
