“Building Beautiful Websites with Wix”

पपीता म.
4/23/24

Wix has become my preferred platform for building beautiful and functional websites, even with minimal technical skills. The platform's drag-and-drop editor, customizable templates, and extensive app marketplace make it easy to create a professional-looking website that reflects my brand and vision. I appreciate Wix's versatility and affordability, offering a range of plans to suit different needs and budgets. Moreover, the platform's SEO tools, mobile optimization features, and e-commerce capabilities ensure that my website is not only visually stunning but also easy to find and navigate. With Wix, I can build a website that stands out from the crowd and drives results for my business or personal project.

Now you can't get Wix support for free at all, even through chat. I pay hundreds of dollars fo premium plans and now they want $55 for the occasional support I need. I am thoroughly disgusted with their overall business model and I rue the day a "Consultant" convinced me to go with them. Another six months until my plan expires and i am gone. They will however be happy to keep the unused remainder of my other service payments. Don't ever pay for yearly, you can never change to monthly.

Easy to setup, but turning off their auto renew billing is crazy. You have to jump through hoops (wait 14 days, then cancelling the account) to turn off the "feature" and avoid the built-in price hike. I'm leaving after this billing cycle. Would not recommend.

Seems like a straightforward and easy website builder, but when I signed up for premium to have more space and features there was no option to only buy for a year, it WILL auto renew and they will not remind you after that year or give you a chance to cancel, they will re-enroll you in another year plan and only notify you after they have charged your account and will not give you a refund. Very shady practice to me.

Tip for consumers:
Don't pay for it or be sure to cancel well before the subscription is up.

Customer service sucks. You can't pick up the phone & call someone. You have to jump through hoops at their 'contact' page before you can request a callback. I submitted a callback request at 11 pm. I got a call from an 877 number at 12:08 am. Answered the phone. Call dropped. At 12:11 am I got a call from a 415 number. I answered. Call dropped. At 12:13 am, I got another call from the 415 number. Barely got 'hello' out & guess what?! Call dropped. I tried calling the numbers back & got recordings saying they were not in service.

I'm trying to get hold of someone to help me with a problem with my shop layout. The products have gotten off centered from the background. I can't figure out how to get it back on there.

I have a three-year contract payment due April 28. Yesterday, I saw a place at their website with additional options -- monthly, yearly, etc. I'd like to switch to monthly, but now that option is not coming up.

On the plus side -- I love the look of my website! Once I got it up & running (a whole hair pulling weeklong experience), it's not too hard to go in & make changes & additions. I love the look of my website. It's very distinctive. Check out AskLoving.com to see what I mean.

Tip for consumers:
How difficult it is to use & that there is no customer service.

NOT AT ALL compatible with iPad or phone editing. I don't currently have a computer. Sure, I can move things, SOMETIMES, and when I do, it often isn't placed correctly or pops it right back to where it started. I have to refresh the page after every successful edit. The phone version is NEVER accurate from computer to device and also doesn't reflect accurately across different devices and is hard to edit. What takes me an hour on Wix, as bad as it is on a computer, has taken me over 5 hours and I'm not even close to being finished. Literally have a migraine and will need to borrow a computer. It's TRASH.

There have been many times that I have contacted support, and we end up walking through an issue for hours, and they are not able to resolve it. They tell me they will continue to look into it, and yet the issue never gets spoken about again. I have been calling about issues such as members responding to events, and in some cases, it shows their email address instead of their name on the member profile. This is very confusing when trying to figure out who is joining an event. Also, admins have no rights to modify a members profile section, which is necessary considering some members are computer illiterate and need assistance adding things. Also, with the ecommerce, members credit cards get declined regularly. It tells them that there is a technical error, and to try again later. I have been able to reproduce these issues and still, no assistance or resolution from WIX. Even though it is a cheaper tool, i guess the say that "you get what you pay for" truly applies here.

Tip for consumers:
search for another website. This site is easy to use, but when you find a bug, it is a sure bet that it will not be resolved

I write a little garden blog for friends and family and I loved Wix - easy to use and it looked great! But sadly no more - I have reached my storage limit. I read up and deleted photo files and old blogs and resolved to use much smaller data on images but no luck the data I have used has not moved at all. So it's goodbye and back to WordPress. I am not their target market so I'm sure they don't care but it is a shame.

Just bought the VIP Membership level yesterday for the added level of customer support which I knew I would be needing as I am more of a direct communicator when I am working on a project. I would rather call and get an answer to a specific question than spend my time filtering through FAQ's.

Called support today to ask an extremely simple question; "what does your productivity tracker actually track in your app? What counts as a session?"

I was put on hold twice by two different departments, only to be told "we don't have an answer for you, sorry." I told them that I was disappointment to say the least as I would expect that my membership price tag should at least grant me the answer to a simple question about the functionality of my purchase which their website does not clearly define.

Wix. I wished we could have a good relationship. I guess the only relationship I will be having is with your features, as they are described, for the next year that I have paid for- with zero support.

This is web design built for idiots, and maybe on that it succeeds. Their site building software is totally nonsensical and is totally unlike any other design platform in existence. If you want to spend WEEKS learning how it works, good for you. You'll have a rudimentary site that you're wildly overpaying for. And then you'll have a lot of knowledge about an interface that will be useless everywhere else in the world.

These guys are masters of taking your money for things that should be free (like rollovers or carousels), and then frustrating your guts out with their horrific — let me say that again HORRIFIC — customer service. I've never worked with any company who cares less about its clientele than Wix. Maybe American air carriers are worse? Probably not. Working with Wix when there's a technical issue is a hellscape. I regret ever using them and am actively working to escape.

My dissatisfaction comes from couple of things:
1. You can't call them, they'll call you! Try hard to find out how.
2. Their costs for the plans are switch & bait. You save initially until subscription is about to expire. When you renew or try to save with another plan, you lose subscription time, both on the hosting and the domain name - weeks and even more than a month. So you're not truly saving if you're paying for less than the 12 months for the yearly subscription.
Even if you renew on the date of the subscription, for ex. June 30th 2022, the expiration date isn't going to be June 30,2023, but rather May 14,2023.
Time rethink my strategy …Godaddy?!

Writing a 2-star review because:
- WIX repeatedly refuses to give a customer service phone number or email. They say it doesn't exist.
- WIX has disabled paid features on my account without notice, impacting my business operations. Showed no interest in reactivating it in a timely manner.
- WIX continues to bloat the dashboard with ads for features I've already bought. They won't go away. No "dismiss" button.
- WIX inbound calls are screened out by Verizon because they trigger the scam call alarm. So even if I ask for a callback, it never comes through.
- WIX isn't too good about understanding the nuances between a non profit and a for profit. Every algorithm assumes you are a operating a large scale storefront, twisting the system into processes that are simply non-applicable.
- WIX has an office in New York. But I can only reach third party agents in New Delhi with limited access to system controls. And only through the chatbot, which incessantly brow beats me into trying to accept answers for problems I don't have.
- The WIX owner app often lags and freezes when too much text is entered. Happens with nearly any field in the app.
- My website came out pretty good. And I've been able to be somewhat productive on my own without WIX help. So I'll give two stars for that.

If you are thinking about switching to WIX, don't. I've been with them over a year and they have only left me tasting anger every time I've tried to reach them for anything.

I was working well on creating my site, only to find the next day that what I had accomplished had vanished. I called them to find out how to get it back and they said it wasn't in my history so there was nothing that they could do. The save button says that it automatically saves. Apparently this is not the case because for the two hours I worked on the site, nothing was saved. I have called three times for support to get answers to questions on the site. One was simply to change the color of the background... seems like a simple question to me, and the support person was figuring it out as I stayed on hold. It was as if he was not an expert at all and was learning as he went. He explored all of the same attempts I made. I told him I wanted to use the colors of the site that I had chosen. It seems like a website builder company would understand that if your pallet is greens, grays and beige, that bright colors such as blue, pink and yellow are not going to be possibilities that would satisfy me if I'm wanting a different background color other than white. It seems outrageous to me that he would think it is acceptable to chose one of the bright colors. Strange at the least. Isn't a website supposed to look professional? Another question I tried to solve on my own was how to make the menu about an inch deep rather than the 3'' offered. He also had no idea how to do this. My questions seem simple for "experts" to answer. Wix is hiring people to answer calls who are not experts or possibly haven't used the site because they take forever to help. They say you have access to real people for customer support when you purchase the premium. BUT it is difficult to get a person who can help you in a timely manner. You have to wait for the person who isn't trained with the website to go through their process of learning themselves before they move you on to the actual expert. This is a terrible way for a business to work with people who are already calling about a problem to then add to the frustration by having to be patient while your "expert" learns how to navigate while you wait and listen, getting you nowhere until you speak to a person who can actually fix you problem. When you get to the actual expert who is knowlegable in how the site works, your call is over within a few short minutes. Wix needs to train better and longer before giving "experts" to clients. What they're doing now might work as a free training for their employees but it doesn't work well for keeping customers happy. As a comparison, after my Wix call, I was on the phone with my credit union. They actually understood my questions, knew how to navigate their site and who I needed to talk to if they didn't know the answer. So, this told me that my frustration truly was with the extremely poor customer service that wix provides, and not just me being impatient. If I can handle a call with my bank over a new business account, what forms I need to fill out for my accountant, how to navigate their site etc. after a frustrating call with wix, then that speaks volumes to the truly inadequate and useless customer care wix is providing. I hope they make changes soon as their platform actually does some incredible things if you like to be creative and want to take advantage of the tools they offer. I was really happy with how my site was turning out, but I decided with how poor the customer care is, and the fact that they couldn't explain why my work didn't save, that I didn't trust Wix to be the small business support and web host I feel comfortable with. Wix doesn't do what they say they will in some ways, so how do I know they will do what they say in other ways. I decided to cancel rather than deal with more lost work and dealing with customer care reps who are not knowledgeable. I have to say that they were all VERY nice people but did not admit that they were over their heads, even with simple questions. And no explanation as to why my work didn't save when they have an "automatic" save policy has left me wondering how to know if it was something I needed to do differently or was it their site. It's a mystery. And when I'm going to work with a person, company, etc. I need communication on how I need to change my steps if they aren't working and they need to be able to help me with. What to do differently so that I don't lose my work. They suggested to simply click "save", but again, it is supposed to all automatically save. So... after I saw that it was all automatically saved, I didn't bother saving again. I worked for over two hours on the site one evening, and apparently the automatic save didn't happen even one time during that two hours because no version of the work I did was in my history. I hope that you will think twice about using wix. Assume what you are working on won't save and use the save button religiously. And, if you need customer service this is not the company to choose. They are not knowledgable, and to get someone who is, you have to be willing to wait on hold for up to half an hour or more. Super bummed about this experience as I had hopes to launch my site this weekend.

Tip for consumers:
Think about if you need customer service as a priority. It's a great site if you want to be creative and make something beautiful, but customer service and site reliability is poor. Actually the worst customer service ever because they have people doing customer service who are not well trained. They don't know how to navigate the Wix site and you have to listen to them learn while you wait on the line. I'm flabbergasted.

So... I get a couple calls regarding my company's website from friends and colleagues that visit it and cannot get past the landing page. We have not updated the site since Feb 2020. The problem resides with folks using Windows 10/MS Edge... and the menu tabs won't allow navigation to the sites pages (beyond the landing page) and there is no animation playing. Previewing the site in Wix editor shows no problem, but publishing does. Contacted Wix tech support this past Saturday and after working with Level 1 rep, was told I would be escalated. Put on hold for over an hour with music and an occasional recording stating that I was next-in-line. My phone battery was going down, so I pressed 1 (as the recording instructed) to have a callback. 2 hours later, the Level 1 rep did call back with an apology that the "escalation team" didn't work on weekends. Monday... the escalation team sends emails requesting a share-screen... and a time window of 2-hours. Well, guess what? I have to work... and cannot sit around waiting for Wix support... so I requested some instructions (via email) on some steps that I might take on my own. Wix refuses to do so. Undoubtedly in Wix's world, I (and my friends and colleagues) cannot be the only one to experience this problem... so why not at least try to provide some guidance on what to check. It's not just my desktop that cannot interface with my site correctly (Android tablet works fine). Wix is stubborn... plus the Saturday waiting-around without its own Level 1 rep not knowing that the escalation team doesn't work on weekends... just plain grrrr from a long-time (5 years) customer.

I have been a WIX user for 4 years and had no problems until I needed service to help sort out a billing problem. The domain was about to expire so I contacted a rep who walked me through the process and I paid for a 2 year domain renewal. BUT the domain expired anyway, the site went down and I had to pay a $100 charge to reinstate the domain. The only service I got was 'well it looks like our system didn't put it through". Thank you WIX.

My plan renewed automatically and I was 2 days past the 14 day cancellation period so now I can't cancel the plan. I can't get a person on the phone, the automated voice directs you to the website and hangs up. The website offers no option to cancel. I'm stuck with the yearly plan!

I have had a WIX account for 3 years and their web sites are cool to look at. But no one will ever know about the web site. I tried all the techniques. Still, I never gained google's notice unless people knew to use my name. Now that I want to cancel my auto billing, the payment page will not load. I have tried to delete my credit card for 6 weeks, but have never gotten the link to load. They just rebilled me despite my besst efforts to leave them. Sickening and maddening.

The only good thing I have to say about wix is that in order to actually build your website they have easy to use features. Other than that since I have purchased the business account on wix months ago my site has been completely useless because the Wix Payments Team has been nit picking every little thing that's on my website and requiring that I change my website exactly to their liking while holding my money hostage. After complying with literally everything that they asked (mind you they told me to do the same thing to my website over and over again after I had already done it) they tell me that I just need to take my products off of my site completely in order to receive my money that I've already earned. You can't even get a hold of this payments department by phone and they take AGES to respond to requests via email. Since I can't properly run my business using this I will be switching to another provider ASAP. Except I can't do that until they actually transfer me my money that they're holding hostage, I've completed their last request weeks ago by taking my products off my website so that I can finally get my payout and switch providers and they have yet to do anything about it.

For months we have been trying to update the account details for WIX Login as the previous email is no longer accessible. We have tried to contact by phone but you need to login to WIX to set up a help request to schedule a call back. There is a verification process to send a request but no one answers the request. To date we have attempted the same request 5 times since July. I guess the only way would be to stop payment for the site. Then it will become inactive and maybe go somewhere else. It should not be this difficult. Up to now the set up and ease of use convinced us that we made a good decision. Should there not be a general inquiry or a place to submit help that is effective, with some initial information to get a response. So much time has been wasted on the request to get access to the account. Given that the business recently changed locations, it has been impossible to change this information. Therefore, it has created significant confusion for our client base, who visits the wrong location. I wish they had better access to customer service. Previously we would have given them an overall rating of 5 stars; however, now they are not making the grade and we need to look at other options.

While they have great templates and a nice variety they are some technical issues I've had with Wix. There are a lot of features that other hosting companies offer than Wix does not. But, for the last 4 years I have been able to find a workaround for most of those issues. However, their customer service is horrible! You can only get support by submitting an ticket for which you only get an email. The problem is that most staff consistently replies with only canned responses without reading the actual issue. When you try to have someone call you they ask you for a 2-hour window the next day. And, then call you out of that window and say you didn't respond. I've been trying to get a simple answer for 5 days with no luck. Have asked for a manager more than a handful of times and am still waiting.

No doubt you can create a great website with it, but the start is really hard. Their plans are really complicated and not easy to switch. I started out with a plan that allows for bookings and then later realised that I need another one to accept payments. I wasted 1 day trying to figure out how this was done and how to raise a ticket. They make it impossible (try googling wix support email and you wont get anything!). Finally somehow managed to do it and they gave a really complicated solution which meant paying for another premium plan. But now this plan wont connect to my domain. And again trying to raise another ticket, I have spent over 2 hours. This is time I should be spending on my business.

Their support sux for a premium plan holder... go somewhere else.

Wix is easy to set up but if you ever need to transfer your Domain to another Host don't use Wix. They make it difficult to transfer the Domain name and when you call Customer Service you have to explain 4-5 times to the person on the phone what you are trying to do because they don't understand. Then when you want to be transferred to a Supervisor they make you wait 20 min.and then cut you off.

Been using for about 6 or so years and as I'm not a web designer was pretty happy with its ease to use and it being relatively professional looking. It was kind of easy to manage too.

Logged in today for the first time in a while to do some updates and they'd implemented some stupid colour scheme so had to go through the entire site and manually correct fix it all which was a complete waste of my time. Loads of fonts had also changed so again, had to manually fix everything.

My existing contact form had been replaced by something from MS Paint (alternatives were awful).

I've just been billed for the next year too at full price - if I'd just cancelled I could've got the same thing for 50% off because it's on offer. Awful loyalty reward!

Worst thing about the site is stupid limits on videos. Not only size/ duration of videos you can actually upload, but those limits apply to youtube, vimeo etc links. For an "unlimited" packed (seriously?!) I get 1 hour. Next package up gets 5.

I was looking at other options but looks like I'm trapped for another year because of the auto-renewal, but if things don't improve, I'm gone.

I was on hold for 4 hours today only to have the call drop at 3:59 minute mark when I was next in line. Same thing happened earlier this morning; next in line and call dropped. On hold for about 45 mins that time. This is my forth call back I have arranged via their service chat bot, because of course they do not provide a customer service number. Add another 2 hours for the time I spent yesterday trying to resolve this issue. That's about 7 hours of unpaid time wasted.

I have 2 personal websites and 6 client websites all hosted on Wix. I'll will begin migrating all sites away from Wix when the subscriptions expire. Goodbye Wix and hello Shopify!

Wix stock price has increased 232% since the low in March 2020. It would only make sense in that timeframe they'd double down on customer service. Instead they pump more money into advertising. What a joke. Based on the overwhelming negative reviews it's probably a good time to short this stock.
