Three years ago I looked at WIX poor reviews and decided not to use it. So I engaged a local 'expert' to make a skeleton website for me. He came back with WIX website without telling me he intended to use them and I was up against my deadline so I decided to run with it. Big Mistake! If you are in this position drop it NOW and start again. It will only get worse. The editor is awful to use for a non-expert. Everything you try to do will result in a call to support that is at least three times round the loop to get an answer. Its a chatbot, that gives a different contact name each time so you virtually have to start again. The system you get can only be maintained via their editor so it is not portable. You can only change hosting. The only choice is to abandon it and rewrite it on another platform. I endorse all the details in the other reviews I see here. It is only a matter of time before this company goes belly-up due to the accumulation of warnings about them. The correct review should be zero stars not one star. Do not get into the WIX trap.
This company is FRAUD. They are refusing to stop taking money from my checking account. I have sent multiple emails telling them to stop and they keep telling me that need more information. I am going to take legal action against them through a law firm and with government agencies. DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH THEM. I'm going to make a web page that comes up when their searched detail the fraud and illegal activities they refuse to stop. Believe me I'm not the only person they are ripping off. Read reviews and other websites about them.
PROTECT YOUR SELF DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH THEM.
CALL ME FOR MORE INFO@ *******777
They've charged me twice for renewal payments without my consent.
Seems like its happened to a number of folks.
I'd just like to know if anyone got their money back.
Please let me know.
Well, Wix doesn't have a courtesy to inform its customers about the fact that their information regarding premium offers are highly deceiving and faulty, for instance, that the so called free vouchers, as just one of the examples, will not at all be free for most users at all, the users are not informed about that IN ADVANCE! That was a final drop for me, I'm going to end my relationship WITH WIX, for I have been charged by Facebook DUE TO NOT BEING INFORMED ABOUT THAT. That's just one of the examples of how Wix lures its customers into buying by hiding the facts or in other words lying to their customers. I find such practices absolutely unacceptable so that was final drop for me and I'm looking forward to switching to some other platform, but it cost me dearly, so beware, Wix will rip you off.
Platform very nice and for those who only start business, but the customer service very low.
The service during one month was no allowed to resolve the Technic Editor issue.
Day 5 waiting on hold to speak to Supervisor 1 hr 14 minutes so far!: Wix stole my website from iPage and I am having the worst time getting it out of their control as they said I do not have an active account with them, No SH*T, it's because I do not want to have an account with them! I did a trial over a year ago and they said in order to give me a price comparison against iPage I had to switch my domain,(foolish, i know!) we went thru the trial period and found we were not happy with the price or the website so we cancelled. So over 1 year later all of a sudden my website from iPage is down and all 9 emails are no longer accessing my iPage Server. WIX also must be the hardest company on the internet to get help from... I really would like to know if there are any class action lawsuits out there, because they have no right to capture my information and hold it hostage! I'm extremely angry, We are a construction company and are in the middle of the bidding process and this is costing us BIG TIME, stay away!... ps still on hold
The bottom line is that I've used Wix, and so have my friends. It's JUST NOT A GOOD PLATFORM.
If you want the real deal on why, it's best summed up here https://davidscarpitta.com/wix-review/
Nice try, but doesn't make the cut.
Wix has everything I want in a website designing tool. It's basically fool proof. Almost any question you can possibly have has a detailed answer already on there site which is good because I don't like dealing with people (takes too long). Mobile view is great (MAKE SURE U EDIT THIS because it will probably look messed up if you ignore it). We paid for a premium account so there is no ads and personally I think that the pricing is right. If you have gone through the pain of trying to code a website then finding a hosting company and uploading the files to C Panel and then trying to make quick changes (I'm hyperventilating thinking back about this)... YOU WILL THINK WIX IS A GODSEND.
If you're trying to start an multi-million dollar empire, Wix probably doesn't have the capacity to support your needs. For regular websites for SMB businesses or personal websites/blogs/community initiatives... it's perfect.
Oh boy, where do I even start with Wix? Let me tell you, this platform is an absolute nightmare. If you're looking to build a website that's unique and professional, then you better steer clear of Wix.
First of all, the system is completely closed off, which means you're stuck with the same boring templates as everyone else. And if you want to customize anything beyond that, good luck! Wix is notoriously limited when it comes to flexibility and creativity.
And don't even get me started on the loading times. If you're hoping to have a website that loads quickly and keeps your visitors engaged, then Wix is definitely not the way to go. It's slow as molasses, and that's being generous.
Plus, their SEO features are a joke. You'll be lucky if you can get your website to rank at all. And even if you do manage to get some traffic, it's likely to be low quality because the platform is just not built for SEO success.
And let's talk about pricing. Wix is notorious for tacking on hidden fees and charges for everything from domain registration to email accounts. You'll be nickel-and-dimed at every turn, and it'll be nearly impossible to accurately budget for your website expenses.
So, unless you're looking for a cookie-cutter, slow-loading, poorly-ranked website that costs an arm and a leg, then do yourself a favor and stay far away from Wix.
I'VE STARTED USING WEX OVER A YEAR AGO AND IN THE BEGINNING FELT BLESSED BY HOW EASY AND INTUITIVE THE EDITOR WAS. I COULD CHANGE THE LAYOUT OF MY PAGE IN A FEW CLICKS. NOW. WHEN I FINALLY READY TO SET UP MY STORE... I AM SIMPLY UNABLE TO MODIFY THE EASIEST OF THINGS... WHICHEVER ELEMENT I TOUCH OR MODIFY IT AUTOMATICALLY SHOWS ON EACH PAGE. WHY THE HELL THEY ASSUME THAT EACH ELEMENT MUST APPEAR ON EVERY PAGE. SO HAVE TO UNCLICK EACH TIME. OTHERWISE ALL THINGS OVERLAP. TOO MANY UNNECESSARY OPTIONS, TOOLS NOT INTUITIVE. OVERALL COMPLETELY DISSATISFIED AND NOW DOUBTING WHETHER SHOULD RISK AND START MY ONLINE STORE WITH WIX. AND WHAT IS MOST DISAPPOINTING IS THAT WIX TEAM, DESPITE OF SO MANY COMPLAINTS HAVE NOT DONE ANY IMPROVEMENT IN AT LEAST HALF A YEAR. EVEN THE MOST OBVIOUS ERRORS ARE NOT BEING FIXED..
If I could give 0 stars I would but that's not an option. I don't think Wix even has customer service because I've literally been trying for over 2 years to get ahold of them for different things and in every case I end up giving up! They just charged me for a whole year for website I didn't authorize and now once again I can't get ahold of them by phone, email or chat! DO NOT USE WIX IF YOU CAN AVOID IT!
Initially, I was a huge fan of Wix. I've had my site since 2015. The website design tool is highly customizable, which is extremely important. But in the last few months, they have made major changes in the messaging system with this "Ascend" garbage they have built into the site to use for your contact forms. It used to be that the initial contact from someone would go through the site, via your form, but now, the entire conversation, each email is getting routed through the site, and it only shows the most recent email - no string, which is F-ing annoying. They seem to think there is nothing wrong with that. WTAF? Recently a client sent me a project list, embedded into a link that was no longer a link after being routed through their site. And I have sent multiple email responses to clients that have never made it. It's like they are trying to put me out of business. Additionally, they used to have great customer service, but now they make it almost impossible to communicate with them to try to get help. Guess it's time to find a new option...
I thought that I would give wix a try. I have NEVER had so much trouble setting up a website. NO SUPPORT AT ALL. I tried chat, phone nothing worked. So many questions how do I do this how do I turn this on, how do I turn this off, says my site is live but it's not and no one I can ask how to do this or that or why it says it is live but it isn't. WOW, no support wish I would have went with someone else but at this point I got so much time invested I'm just going to have to try and polish this turd.
Wix allowed me to take payments and invoices for one week then shut my account on hold and froze ALL the money in it. After weeks went by and I gave them document after document after document to verify everything they still held the money. When I tried to refund my friends who all bought stuff from me and send their money back because six was never going to pay me and let my customers get their stuff six then tried to charge ME the six payment fees in order to refund the people EVEN THOUGH THEY COLLECTED THE FEES AND HELD THE FUNDS! They then charged me $50 per transaction out of my own money to refund my own friends. I hope WIX BURNS
Yes, I have to say that I too am joining a non-fan base of Wix. And I regret that I've ever touched their services. Creative side wise, it is ok with me. BUT when it comes to any money-involved issue or valid customer assistance... nada! They refused me TWICE with the refund for the mailbox which was "faulty" and they couldn't even lead me to any solution about it---as you might know, they offer a G Suite account. As a result, I've paid for NOTHING. Even Google, when I contacted them, was so nice and pointed out that it was indeed Wix's part to assist me. Their customer service is mostly robot-based (and it took me hours to find a 'Submit a ticket' option with them).
In a word, dear novice, pls think twice. Don't be lured in by the fact that they offer all at once in one package. And Wix services are not cheap at all (and with their poor customer service, they will be sure to give you headache too). At last, just as it is clear from my title here, they are indeed very aggressive/unsupportive regarding any (financial) issues (in my case, the faulty mailbox and refund). And should you encounter any, you are on your own. Think twice!
Ok first of all I don't understand why people downvote wix so much simply judging on their customer service. I was also charged 150$ as my renewal of premium plan after my first year, and yes, at first I was furious about that too. But if you guys read what you sign up for... they actually very clearly state that this is what they will do. Maybe its not acceptable for some, but for businesses to thrive, a web page has to be up and running all year long. I understand that.
Anyway, I contacted customer service via e-mail. Explained my situation clearly and requested for a refund. And to be clear, it was just a day after the charge was made and technically my previous years subscription still had 6 days till in would officially expire.
First e-mails were not so helpful as they asked me to contact for official request for refund. So that got me a bit frustrated but I did not give up nor started cursing them(which I believe most people would do) after a long wait for about 3 week I received a mail saying my refund request is approved. And a week later it was refunded. Voila!
So here you go guys. This is my advice.
1. read what you sign up for. 2. learn to be patient and polite. 3. be reasonable, justify with reason why you think you are right.
And thank you wix, for a making things easy for people and businesses, and for having a reliable, logical customer service (although its a bit slow)
When i paid for the 1 month subscription i made sure not to save my card details on their sit, 30 days later i am charged again. So that means they saved my card details without authorization and they charged me even though it is 1 MONTH SUBSCRIPTION! ON TOP OF THAT THEY DO NOT ALLOW ME TO DELETE MY CARD INFORMATION! SO THEY ARE PLANNING TO CHARGE ME AGAIN FOR A 1 MONTH SUBCRIPTION I DID NOT EXTEND!@!
AND TAKE MY MONEY WITHOUT AUTHORIZATION!@!
Having done this for over 20 hours, it's about as far as I can get it and it isn't anything like I think it should be.
I created sections,

There are 2 big problems with the sections:
I want the sections to be separate pages and while WIX says it's easy to change a section to its own page, it's impossible because the link WIX says to use doesn't exist (tried 30 times)
2. Top Menu
The top menu that is supposed to navigate to sections (they should be website pages) is totally defunct in 2 ways
It doesn't navigate to sections (clicking on the menu doesn't do anything at all) and
Once you change the standard menu names of sections, the platform still uses its own original names and doesn't recognize that you renamed them (what a piece of junk)
3. Videos
I'm ready to create the videos and get going - so sorry I tried to use WIX.
The design is fantastic, yes, and the functionalities you could use might be great, too - if you were able to understand how they work. As I am not a web designer, I chose this way of making a website. I would have liked a structured online help so that I can systematically search for the solution to a problem that I cannot name. And to be independent of real people support.
Because the hotline only works from Monday to Thursday. Long weekends, wow! How good for them. And then only at so called Pacific Times. How do I know when that is? I am not interested in other time zones, because I am in my time zone and I am a customer that has made a contract with a company operating globally.
I have waited for an answer from Friday to Monday evening, and then I got a link to a useless site I had tried before. I tried to call to England: 24 minutes waiting time. No thanks. To the US: 2 min. Waiting time they said. After 10 expensive minutes I hung up.
So I sent a new mail five hours ago, which of course has not been answered. I do not understand how people can write that this company gives good support.
Answer: There not bad, but they offer really poor customer Service skills. Doesn't matter how long you do business with them the only thing they care about is your money. So if you dont stay 100% on top of things on your end your screwed.

Answer: No no no
Answer: I've been trying them for days now, with no luck! The recording first said, that "due to call volume, i would have to call back when they next opened on Monday (feb 13th!)" which means that they haven't changed their answering message for days! Then I tried this morning, and there is a new recording that saids that they will next be open on Tuesday feb Feb 21st! So. Fuck. Seriously. We can't afford to rebuild our whole site again with another service! And i've/we've had WIX for over 6yrs now..
Answer: Hi, I apologize for the inconvenience this has caused. We'd like to assist you in resolving this error as soon as possible. Please contact us at support@wix.com for further assistance, or call us at 1-800-6000-949.
Answer: One of the things that really bother me with Wix (besides them being so focused on extracting money from their customers that they tend to forget about everything else) is that they make these changes and do not care one bit to inform their customers that they are going to do this, so all of the sudden one has a site that doesn't function and unless one keeps checking daily whether everything still works as it should, one end up having problems. That's one of the reasons why I'm out and do not plan to use them much longer.
Answer: Please don't. It's just a scam to take your money and give no service.
Wix has a rating of 1.3 stars from 654 reviews, indicating that most customers are generally dissatisfied with their purchases. Reviewers dissatisfied with Wix most frequently mention customer service, credit card and premium plan. Wix ranks 149th among Website Builder sites.
Hi,
I apologize for the inconvenience that this has caused. The terms of use of Facebook's vouchers are subject to Facebook's policies, and I'm afraid that we have no control over them.
The terms of use are detailed prior to purchase, but can be quite restrictive. Please contact us at premium@wix.com (mention that you are from SiteJabber so we will have your previous details) and we will see how we can assist you further.
