I signed up for their 30 day trial and canceled well before deadline. They charged me anyways for $240 a day before the trial was to end. There is no way to communicate with them unless you are in their upper tier of subscriber and who knows if that is true?. And how can they get away with this discriminatory practice? I can't believe they are still aloud to run a scam operation.
Postscript: They did refund my money after I threatened to post reviews like this or it may have been my bank that hassled them, not sure which.
Vimeo advertises their Premium account with "unlimited live streaming".
Yet when my non-profit organisation does 2 livestream events, once a week for a maximum of 3 hours in total, we are considered in their 1% range and thus, we were given 2 choices - pay for a customised plan which cost USD 6,000 (7 times more what we are currently paying) or they deactivate our account.
They only brought this up after 16 months of using their service, when we are 4 months into a renewed 1 year subscription. Vimeo does not have a competitive edge with its competitors.
The customer service representative was not helpful in addressing our questions and issues. The attitude was terrible.
I often use this video sharing site for my video promotion, but hardly I get traffic on t. Although the video is very enticing and attractive and content oriented. Most of the users are form US or UK. So it seems impossible us to get the real traffic. I am happy with the design and its easy uploading.
They have a good product, but it's overshadowed by their very very bad customer support. I tried to speak with them to walk me through addressing an issue I was having with Vimeo, bit all they wanted to do is send emails back and forth. Never was able to speak with their technical support. Very bad experience. I ended up having to call someone from within our company to come and assist. Cost money and time.
Over 100 videos on my commercial account were shut down. No notice. After they had been hosted there for over a year. It took DAYS to even get a response.
Meanwhile my customers were demanding to know why they couldn't see the content they had paid for.
The same content was on Vimeo for over a year. No porn, no gambling, nothing illegal. Just one day waking up to my virtual assistant emailing me with, "Why are NONE of the videos playing?"
That could have cost us 100 of customers if we didn't spend the next 36 hours frantically moving to a more trustworthy company. Their customer service is very hip, nice, until we actually needed them.
Vimeo will de-platform content they don't like even if it is within community guidelines. I bought a film from a peace activist and because the film was critical of the policies of a certain country, they kicked this content creator off their site and stole $3000 in sales. They will then steal your money by not letting you watch the movie you paid for. This is disgusting behavior from any company and tramples on free speech. Find somewhere else to host your video content.
Vimeo has taken down the channel of my favorite creator (Ryan Dawson) without warning and they are withholding $5,000 from him and his family. His videos are 100% factual. There is not a shred of false information in any of his videos. A company banning a creator for reporting facts! Only in 2018. This is a form of speech control. I understand if he was spreading disinfo, but he's not, and they know he's not. Ryan Dawson is an ANTI-WAR news reporter/content creator, and they banned him. Disgusting decision these tech companies are making. Banning people for reporting FACTS! 1984 is happening folks. We were warned about this.
I did buy Vimeo Pro a month ago, paying for the entire year at once.
Since last week, I have not been able to upload any video from any PC or Mac. I have contacted their support team (via email as they don't offer support over the phone) and the only reply I have received is that they will look into it. Since then, nothing!
They choose who they want to platform depending on if they agree with their political views or not. They claim to be free speech but instead of actually being what they claim they use their terms of service (purposely written so anyone violates it at any time) as an excuse to kick people of even when they never did anything they claim.
I signed up and paid the yearly subscription (thinking they were credible). Less than a month in, their customer support emailed me saying my account is suspended for uploading content they deem as infringement. All right, I was uploading subtitled videos but accepted they have a right to reject content on their platform like YouTube. HOWEVER, they refused to refund me the remainder of my yearly subscription. Luckily, I paid with PayPal and submitted a claim which I got refunded the entire price. These mother******! Don't trust them. They also refuse you to retrieve the videos you uploaded during the subscription period you paid for.
This is to inform the members of this community, majority of the videos can be uploaded publicly despite of following the rules and regulation. I tried to get in touch with the customer support team, but there was no way.
Then I found all the negative reviews but still did not pay attention but just to alert all the user, that this service is going to waste your time and it is nothing but a big bunch of crap.
I am not expecting any response but still if there is anyone who can let me know about the issue, would love to hear.
This hosting website claims to have business packages, but they don't deliver. It is actually pretty surprising to what degree they don't deliver. For example you can't have your employees log in to the app, you have to give them your own password. That would allow them to delete all videos. They claim that you can have up to 3 users on pro account, BUT what they don't tell you is that those users can only log in on desktop and not their app or mobile devices. The lists of things like this goes on... features that are thought through and are not functional. It is I am sure good for individual use though.
After paying for videos hosted on the site, they were recently taken down for NO valid reason. The uploader not only lost a platform, but was robbed of thousands of dollars. Use this site with extreme caution.
Like others I was deleted the last day of the month so that they could take one Month of profits plus 30 days of the next month. They stole over $5,000. The reason was claiming that I violated a guideline. I didn't. The next reason was because my reporting on Israel's attack on Gaza was done with "a mean spirited vibe". They actually accused me of antisemitism! My co-host is Jewish and I maintain an anti-war and anti-racist channel. I have been with vimeo over 6 years with over 590 videos and been reporting the same way the entire time. When they felt like there was a large payday they just kicked me off the platform and took all my money. I wasn't even told why I had to write to them constant and get my fans to do the same just to get a weak justification.
I signed up for a free month in order to watch a live stream of my grandson's recital. I soon discovered that I would be charged $900 for a year subscription. I stupidly had given them a charge card number. I attempted for several days to cancel this subscription and I never got a confirmation that it was cancelled. I am still listed as a member with a charge to be made in a month of $900. Working with my bank to stop this charge.
Vimeo randomly deleted my account. They did not tell me they were going to do it and they didn't inform me they did it. I found out when I checked my personal website and a lot of videos were missing. This is the kind of unethical crap you can expect if you use them for your business or personal videos.
On the face of it, Vimeo looked a good alternative to You tube and I used it for a few years, buying a few documentaries and enjoying the range of choice and flexibility. I then bought several films from Ryan Dawson whom I've followed on Youtube for years as a highly competent geopolitical analyst, one of which was around 5 hrs long. I intended to watch them in segments and enjoy them over a few months. However Ryan had all his content deleted without warning and so my paid for films disappeared, I wrote to Vimeo who basically said "tough" and no refund - I wrote a longer letter asking why they should take this approach with someone like Ryan who has never advocated hate speech and is the most anti-war person you can find. No reply. I don't like being treated this way and I don't like Ryan being treated this way - totally unprofessional and whatever agenda they have they can keep it.
Vimeo stole $5000 from Ryan Dawson; a journalist. Ryan violated no terms and conditions, thus we conclude that vimeo are anti-free speech! Do not contribute to such a backwards and thieving corporation
I started off enjoying the site, till the day I clicked on a video clip, and they began to execute a teen kid. I was left traumatised for six months afterwards (I did NOT even watch the full clip). Then recently saw their "WE support LGBT" self promotion, while seeing an islamic video clip entitled "Throwing the gay from the roof", that was there for already over a week. Then the NZ mosque murders video appeared multiple times, and they did nothing to remove them after much protest. They are a sick company putting profit above all else, and do nothing to prevent sickening content being able to be viewed by minors etc. I hope they eventually get sued for their disgusting practices.
They get you into a subscription and won't let you cancel. I have been fighting it for months and the company won't call or email me back. They are a scam. WARNING: STAY AWAY>
Answer: I'd check the fine print. Then I'd check again. Then I'd have a backup plan if you're gonna use Vimeo. In case you wake up one morning and you can't access any of your videos.
Answer: I heard that Vimeo is very anti-Semitic, they wanted to make a Jewish co-host lose his job at a pro-peace channel. It's just like another holocaust in my opinion... or even worse, the immigration crisis of Latin Americans going to the US.
Vimeo has a rating of 1.9 stars from 192 reviews, indicating that most customers are generally dissatisfied with their purchases. Reviewers dissatisfied with Vimeo most frequently mention customer service, anti war and pro account. Vimeo ranks 298th among Videos sites.
