My $300+ order got stuck at a Fed Ex hub and they couldn't have cared less. No one helped, no management addressed it - not one supervisor reached out, while my packages languished and Fed Ex wouldn't let me pick them up. This present was a healing present for someone who suffered a great loss. Then they charged me for a membership! Horrible business, kindness my keester - they're frauds.
I ordered a gift for my girlfriend for valentine's day. It was supposed to come by the 11th. I get an email saying it would arrive on the 15th, a day late. I ask about getting my shipping refunded. Then on the 15th when it doesn't arrive I call them only to find out that it is no longer coming to me at all so now instead of a late valentine's day gift, I have none.
We're so sorry to have missed this delivery date. We had no idea that UPS would have so many hiccups on the way to delivering this. I see that you've already been refunded in full and a replacement is on the way. Please let us know if there is anything else we can do. custom@uncommongoods.com
It took them 10 days to ships something to me for Christmas. Of Course it came after Christmas. You would think that would make it a priority for items purchased before Christmas. I Just received it on the 27th.
I wouldn't buy from these guys again. They are not focusing on the consumer.
I made an online order after business hours. I accidentally added an additional item of what I was ordering. I called but they were closed. I called the next morning. I was told my order was already being processed, though it hadn't left the warehouse.
They have no mechanism to stop the order once the processing had started. I was told I would have to wait for my item to arrive and than send it back to them.
So it finally arrived and I was just told I will have to wait 2 days for them to email me the email containing my shipping label, than 5 to 7 business days to get my money back. On top of having to make time during the day to mail it back.
Furthermore the supervisor was kind of rude to me.
The fact that they can't cancel or amend an order before the items left the warehouse (just several hours after I made the order) is ridiculous. I never want to order from them again and I suggest you do the same.
Thanks for sharing your experience with us, Jonathan. While it is true that we start picking and packing orders very quickly and we cannot recall orders sent with Economy shipping, there are some details in your message that make me want to do a bit of digging to see what exactly happened here. I'd love to be able to look up your order and get to the bottom of this. I'd also like to see if there's anything that we could have done to make this a better experience (and I suspect that there are indeed ways that we could have made this easier on you). I would appreciate it if you would contact me directly so I can begin my research and find a better solution here. I can be reached at jen@uncommongoods.com. I'm looking forward to hearing from you!
I called to cancel an order within two hours of placing it online. After being told by customer service that they couldn't find my order, I was placed on hold. The agent then returned on the line and told me the order was cancelled and I would receive an email confirmation the next day and that my card would be refunded. After more than a week, no email and no refund.
So I called again today and was told that they didn't have my order in their system, yet they have charged my card $681.49! As they don't have my information, they can't refund the amount. Can you believe this? The agent finally suggested that maybe my card was scammed - this after I told her I was looking at the transaction on PayPal as we were speaking. In hindsight, she was right. My card was scammed and this company is the scammer. Stay away from Uncommon Goods. They are uncommonly terrible.
We’re so sorry that you didn’t receive an email confirmation that your order was canceled! It’s true that we don’t assign confirmation numbers to canceled orders, but we do (typically) email customers to confirm that we’ve canceled the order. We’ll follow up with the representative who canceled your order to reiterate the importance of this practice.
We voided your transaction in our billing system immediately after canceling the order. It sometimes takes a bit of time for the bank to remove a charge from a customer’s account and sadly, we can’t predict how quickly or slowly a given bank will act. Voiding a transaction tends to speed up the process of getting customers’ funds returned vs. posting a credit. I can confirm that we have not charged you for anything. When a transaction is voided, the charge is simply removed.
Please let us know if there’s anything else we can do for you!
Ordered a birthday gift for a friend. Received it in a timely manner,, it was packed expertly so it came in good condition. Couldn't ask for better service, this is the second order I have done through this site and I was also happy with that order. I believe it is a great site with good service.

We're so happy to hear that you had such a great experience! Thanks for shopping with us!
They said it shipped on Nov 30th. Said it would be delivered no later than Dec 15th. Gave a tracking #. USPS never received the package. Needless to say, the package did not arrive by the 15th. If I could give a 1/4 star only, i would.
Hi PF! Thank you for reaching out, we are so sorry to hear that you had this delay. We do know that there were several orders impacted by an unexpected delay by USPS, we in no way expected this to occur. If you still need further assistance, please email us your order details directly at: feedback@uncommongoods.com. We look forward to hearing from you, stay safe and have a good day!
I ordered the "map of our hearts" which looks beautiful. I ordered it 30 days prior to when I need it for our silver anniversary. When ordered, the site says a proof will be sent in 1 to 2 business days. Four days went by an no proof. I called and was told the next day I'd have it. Another week and no proof. Then I was told I likely wouldn't get the gift until too late but "I can just say it's on the way." Seriously? Can you imagine showing a picture of our 25th anniversary gift and saying "it's on the way?" No one seems to care. Terrible customer service. Very disappointing.
Hi Jan! Thank you for posting. We're so sorry to hear that you've had this issue. Please email your order details here or directly at: feedback@uncommongoods.com, we would love to provide you with some additional support.
Ordered an item from here for Christmas as a gift. It was shipped in a quick manner and no issues with delivery. However, the item itself was not what was expected - not a problem; do as normal people do and return. I initiated a return on the 27th and was given a label. Sent back the item on the 28th of Dec to find that UncommonGoods uses UPS Mail Innovations for shipping - which is literally the slowest shipping service you can get. So here we are now on the 9th of January, the package has still yet to be delivered to them which means that no matter what, refund won't be issued until probably late next week - if not the week after. In today's day and age, 2-3 weeks for a refund is unacceptable. Will never order from this site again. Customer service was not bad - but definitely not helpful. In terms of e-commerce, this is about as bad a site as you can order from. I would advise against ordering from here.
Hi Derek, we are so sorry about the long process. We'll be happy to pass this feedback along to our warehouse team for possible, future business improvement ideas. We really appreciate your patience. Let us know if anything else is needed.
I order 3 items on March 17. I was trying to buy a gift for a friend's birthday on April 2 and the checkout said the order would arrive by March 31. So today, March 31, I look for the order. Nothing. I contact the site, and they say "oh one of the items is backordered so we aren't shipping the order until April 20." Never mind what the check out told me or the fact that they charged by credit card on March 17. They never even sent me an email to tell me what was going on. I would never shop at this dishonest, incompetent site.
We clearly did not do a good job of communicating that the order wasn't available to ship right away, and we're deeply sorry. We'd love to hear from you so we can make this right. We can be reached at 888-365-0056 or I can be reached directly at jen@uncommongoods.com. I hope to hear from you soon!
This website is not producing anything. It's like a portal for third-party sellers to sell their custom goods. Like an Etsy. And therefore they have no accountability, nor they can provide information about your order status correctly. Their delivery shipping estimates vary. I ordered an item in December that was supposed to be finished and shipped by mid-January. Beginning of February I started questioning what was with the order as there were literally no updates. They responded that the estimated delivery changed now to the end of February. TWO months since the order, without any progress. The next day, suddenly they prompted the seller to create a shipping label so they can say the item was just shipped. But that's a fake tactic, as the item has never left the warehouse so it was in fact not shipped.
They refuse to accept any cancellations or refunds due to the "custom nature" of the products even though the products were clearly not manufactured yet. I will never order from such an untrustworthy platform again. The sellers can only operate because they don't have any oversight and policies like they would have with amazon, etsy or ebay. Customer service representatives cannot provide accurate information with estimates at least in weeks and are lying about the state of orders.
Hi Oscar, Yes, we are an online retailer who works to connect makers and their creations with shoppers looking for truly unique goods. A fraction of our products are not in our warehouse, as they are customizable and sent straight from the artisan to the desired customer. I see that you have been in contact with our customer service team, and a recent update provided to you included tracking from the artisan of your made-to-order custom item to the international hub. Should you need any further assistance, feel free to reply in the existing email thread regarding your New York Times Custom Birthday Book.
This Company knew damn well the demand they would have for Christmas. I ordered December 1st with shipping no later than 18th, nothing the 18th so i checked status it said it was in NJ since the 9th. Nobody bothered to email or call to say the package was lost or delayed. I emailed, they told me guaranteed by December 24th. Today is Xmas day and I had nothing to give to my children thanks to their lack of response. I requested a refund and they have the audacity to tell me I can get it re shipped for MAY 2021! Or a refund but someone will contact me. I lost my S. Refund me right now you are stealing money I will report you!
Hi Maria! Thank you for reaching out, we are so sorry to hear that you had this issue. We were notified much later in the season about a USPS, delay that impacted several orders, we did not anticipate you having this experience. We'll be happy for further assist you and get you refunded, please email us your order details directly at: feedback@uncommongoods.com. We look forward to hearing from you, stay safe and have a good day!
Had the EXACT same thing as many of these people have noted. I ordered my Mom's Christmas gift on 12/16 - for a delivery no later than 12/24 (per their website). If I hadn't called today (the day before Christmas), I wouldn't even have known it wasn't going to arrive. They didn't email me to notify that it didn't ship the day it was supposed to (12/18). If they had, I could have done something for my Mom. (I live in Colorado and can't just pop over with another gift.) But now it's too late. They said the artist didn't ship it - and the artist didn't tell them. Well, I bought from UncommonGoods and expect UG to fulfill their commitments. They offered free shipping when I called - but what good does that do when they can't even confirm when it will ship -- other than 'sometime after Christmas'. Never mind - I cancelled my order and will not order from Uncommon Goods again. They don't stand behind their promises.
Hi Kim. We are so sorry to hear that you had to end up cancelling the order completely. We'd like to assist you further on the matter. I will email you privately on this. Thank you for all your patience.
Uncommongoods has some great and unique gifts, but they have one huge problem: customer service. I had some questions about my order date and I called and emailed multiple times to get the information. I was told my order would arrive before Christmas, but later, in an email, I was told that my order would be later than Christmas. It seems like there is no commuication there, even though I provided my order number with every call and email. Several times when I called, the representative told me that they did not have the information I was looking for, but that they would have someone get back to me the next day. Not once did someone ever get back to me the next day and I always had to call again to follow up. The customer service aspect was very very frustrating.
So, go ahead and order if you don't have a time contraint and if you think you will have no questions about your order. But good luck if you have to deal with the hell of their customer service department!
Thanks for sharing your feedback, Kristin. I'm so sorry to hear that your experience hasn't been awesome. While difficult to hear, it's important to receive feedback such as yours so that we can continue to improve. If you still require resolution, feel free to contact me directly. I'll send you a private message with my contact information.
I've bought a number of ridiculous items from this website for babies of friends. One of those items included the peepee teepee (http://www.uncommongoods.com/item/item.jsp?itemId=*******; I have yet to find out if it really works). A lot of the products for babies are organic, colorful and/or old school (no flashing lights or buttons to push), and I just love sorting through that kind of stuff. I had absolutely no problems with the purchases, and my friends loved the goods.
Hello!
As I have just recently discovered the Uncommon Goods site, I have put several things in my cart in an attempt to decide which one I want to get as a gift for someone. I also became a member(free version)and have opted in to receive texts from them. Moments ago I received what just might be one of the absolute coolest things I have ever seen a company do.
There are so many people in this world who either had horrible parents, a horrible mother or a horrible father as well as people who never really had parents and those that have lost them. However, it is that time of year when mother's Day and Father's Day rolls around yet again. In the text that I received from them, I was given the option to opt out of receiving any promotional messaging relating to mother's Day and I am almost positive I will receive a similar one for Father's Day.
Well I personally have wonderful parents. I completely understand the desire to not have to look at something such as a promotional text message involving parents as a whole. It is such a forward way of thinking which should be commonplace actually, but it is extremely impressive and that company has definitely earned my loyalty just from that.
I ordered a custom item for my father-in-law's birthday and the wrong item was sent. I've emailed, called, and have spoken to several CS agents, and while they are apologetic, I'm not getting anywhere. The only answer I get is that they have reached out to the vendor/artist and are not getting a response. I would think Uncommon Goods would offer a refund or resolution but no, they keep passing the buck off to the vendor. I was really looking forward to using this company, as I have many long-distance relatives that I order and mail gifts to but I will not order from them again. Buyer beware.
Update: I tried to write a product review on Uncommon Goods website for the product I ordered and of course, it was rejected. I will include a screenshot of the rejection below.
Dear UncommonGoods Rep, who replied to this review,
I am not sending another email, I have 5+
Emails back and forth and at least 3 phone calls. I am done. It's pretty obvious that your company is not interested in resolving this issue.
Update 11/2/22: Well, they finally made it right after I had written a few bad reviews, along with several phone calls and emails to the company. So the bottom line is, if you don't mind fighting with a company to get your order right... you'll be fine. However, if you value customer service and appreciate when a company values you as a customer then I would find another place to order from. I personally will not ever order from this company again nor can I recommend it to anyone.
Thank you for posting Carolyn. We're so sorry for all the back and forth. We'll be happy to see where we are at in the process of getting you a solution. As soon as you can, please send us your order details to help@uncommongoods.com and we'll go from there. We look forward to your reply!
I have ordered from uncommon goods and havoc had an absolute nightmare. They stated that the order would be delivered on the 27th of November. By the 29th we tried to contact them to find out why was going on. Their autonomy system was blatantly false, ineffectual and not intended to solve any issues. After an inexplicable number of autonomy responses we finally got hold of a US customer service number. I wish we hadn't. They told us we had received the order. I don't have a US accent so the customer service assumed that I couldn't understand what receiving an order was. I am just waiting for the hoods I paid for. Still nothing. Please don't ever use these people as it is a scam
I'm sorry to hear that you've had such a disappointing experience, James! I'd love to take a closer look at your order; would you mind sending us a private message with your full name or order number?
When I needed an item sent immediately that LOOKED as though I had searched forever for that perfect match, I stumbled upon Uncommon Goods and it was a beautifully orchestrated transaction. I will be a customer for life. This company is NOT inexpensive, but its items are well made by human minds and hands... sometime in your life, you will notice quality and craftsmanship aren't cheap. If you can't find a special gift from this company, you're not honing in on THE GIFT Turn the page in the catalog; it IS in there. Find it. Buy it. Make someone SPECIAL smile.
I ordered one small puzzle at first to test it out because the reviews were so bad but I got it within two days! So i then made a bigger order and loved everything! Their items are so cool
