ThredUp's reputation is marred by significant customer dissatisfaction, particularly regarding the selling process and customer service. Many users report feeling misled about item valuations and processing times, leading to frustration over perceived exploitation and lack of transparency. While some customers appreciate the variety of products available for purchase, issues such as delays in shipping, inadequate communication, and poor handling of returns overshadow these positives. Overall, the sentiment leans heavily towards disappointment, prompting many to recommend alternative selling methods and express reluctance to engage further with the company.

I love resale shopping, but rarely find cute items I'm looking for in my size. With thredUP, there are so many styles to choose from, I get to be choosy. Thank you, thredUP for making resale fun!
This is the second time I order from ThredUP, and I'm awaiting my second polka dot box with excitement. The prices are technically they same you'll find at a thrift store, with the inconvenience of having to pay for the shipping, but it's worth it because you may find very cute pieces!
The first time I ordered, the process of paying and receiving my package was smooth, so sad I didn't took the measurements into consideration and one of the dresses was too small, but still cute and in great condition and it has a ThredUP tag that gave the feeling of being receiving a new item. That time I also used the "new member" discount which made it an amazing experience!
This second time I had an issue because my card was already in the system so I clicked the "pay" button by accident before entering my 10% discount code (a new one I got, they usually have some kind of discount code) and I had to pay the full amount, that was dissapointing. I could call to customer service but I am too lazy. Now I'm just hoping the items will fit me because I will be too lazy to make a return! Lol
I like the variety and brands offered on ThredUp. My orders have arrived as described and the discount is great!
There is a pretty good variety of stuff on thredup, the buying process is just like any major retailer and the return process is quite easy.
I sent a large bag of items to ThredUp. The experiment was great however it took about 6 weeks for the bag to be processed.
Description of clothes is very exact and make shopping affective!
Your account info makes viewing clothes like a personal shopper pulled then just for You!
Hello I got two items in this package and one was great. The other was marked final sale and there was no indication that there was any adjustments made to the pants. I received them and they are hemmed and don't fit me. I can't return them.
I was relatively happy with my purchases but it took almost 2 months for my clean out bag to be processed. When I received the total credit amount I was pretty upset, I sent in brand new juicy shoes, Abercrombie dress with tags and north face with tags and received a very small compensation. Next time I will
Just sell the items myself
I find this app fun to use, lots of clothing. The prices are good and the description is accurate
I love this site! The price was great, the shipping was fast and free, and everything fit and looked exactly how they looked in their pictures. I recommend thredUP to everyone I know!
I've ordered from thredUP two times, and in both times they have messed up the shipping address. The first time they didn't put my apartment number, the second time they said they didn't couldn't find my address, then they send it back to thredUP. I am very disappointed, it is not the first time and all of those times I have put the correct address.
The variety is just great. Every name brand you would want, all thrown into 1 shopping space! :)
I only ordered the merchandise (2x) and i'm still waiting which seems to me its taking awhile to receive status and updates of process
I absolutely love thrift store shopping and online shopping so a combination of the 2 is super exciting to me! Great selection and prices. The only complaint I have is it seems like it takes forever to get delivered though that's just because I'm used to Amazon's 2 day shipping. I would definitely (and have) recommend ThredUp to friends!
Love, love, love! I can shop from home, have it delivered, and wear styles I like! Can't recommend ThredUp! Highly enough.
Excellent and got fast. Shirt was new and jeans were like new if not new without tags. The color still rubbed off! I got a nice shirt and Big Star jeans for 30!
I've only ordered twice, the first time, I was pleased with everything I ordered. The second time, I wound up sending it back. It was a jacket originally from the EU, rather than simply saying the jacket was "L" in size, indicate where it was made, because it has been my experience that clothes from China, EU and some other countries do not fit American women. I thought the "L" meant "large" by American standards, so the sleeves were too short, and couldn't zip the jacket because most American women's busts are also larger.
Needed a couple new dresses for wedding season. Found them easily and ordered quickly. Looking forward to receiving them!
As a plus sized woman - I have a hard time finding fashionable / affordable clothing. I LOVE this site and have been very happy with the 4 items I have received so far! Clothing condition is accurately described - and the size selection is great!
Answer: Don't bother. I got 80 cents for a whole bag of good condition name brand clothes.
Answer: I've actually emailed their customer service to show them how many negative reviews there were on this site and they did not care at all. They just quoted their policies. I'm sure they will go bankrupt soon enough...
Answer: 1% but they trash the expensive stuff (or am not sure what they do with it) and sell the cheap stuff. So i sent 2 bags with over 20 items, and got total 25$. I had antik batik dress, anthropologie clothes, jcrew, christian lacroix, etc. and they trashed the expensive (new condition) brand and listed cheap things. I will not send them stuff again, it was very hurtful.
Answer: Because they essentially steal your clothes and then sell them for a profit. You get hardly any payout, but they gladly take all your clothes and sell them for a big mark up.
Answer: Of course buyers are satisfied. They are getting other peoples' brand-name, like-new clothes that has been stolen by ThredUp. Buying from ThredUp just supports their dishonest and shady business practice.
Answer: I almost always sell on eBay first. Then when I don't feel like hanging on to the clothes any more and just want my closet space back and they have been on eBay for months, I will send to thredUP. I don't even send in that high end of items and I will usually get $16 and up per bag. So to me, it's a last resort, but I usually can expect something even if it's a little. I LOVE thredUP for buying. Use their upfront calculator to see what items they take. They will say 50 cents to 1.00 per item so it is not hidden info. There is always the return option where you can get your entire bag back for $12.99 as well. Everyone who has nice stuff they'd want back should opt for this method always.
Answer: They sent me an email and put the money on my thred up account so I can buy something. I was do disgusted I gave up on the whole thing
Answer: Because I sent in 575.00 worth of clothes and recieved 8.00 in credit, half of them had tags still on them and were high priced items. When I asked for proof why they did not take them in they said they had stains on them. I asked for pics because they were brand new, they squirted water on them and took a pic. It takes a couple months to even get your credit and when you buy womens clothes, half the time I was sent stained or childrens sized clothes, TWICE is a much better company.
Answer: Honestly this company is not choosing to accept a lot of product that could easily be listed. I have sent bags and bags, including valuable pieces... cashmere sweaters, high end items of considerable retail cost and relatively recently produced. When questioned I am given the response that the items were not in as good a shape as they wanted them to be. That their buyers should be able to buy perfect product. My take on this is... if it's a 200 dollar cashmere sweater and the purchase price is under 10 dollars, a few pills on the fabric should be a non issue! Period. I question what is going on, frankly, as many do. Too much disappears with no explanation, many bags go into complete reject status. I genuinely am concerned that there is a story here and may become apparent after a while. Only time will tell.
Answer: Not worth it unless you have stuff priced over $40 and can get 40%. There percentages are ridiculous for lower priced clothes. You can order return assurance for about $12 but be prepared to get a bag back with your items stuffed in like garbage. They do not even take the time to fold things nicely even though you pay for this service.
