Free shipping would absolutely encourage me to make more purchases.
Second. I would like to be able to sort by "percent off". Also, it would be nice to define my search by type of material. Such as 100%cotton.
Let me start by saying I've purchased over $10k in items from the site. Over 1/2 is a loss. The pictures are general, descriptions are general, and sizing is based on manufacturing. That being said, was it manufactured in the 90's or 2022. Has it been washed and shrunk? Modified? Also, was it in grandmas musty basement? Men's/ women's seems to be an issue as well. Small tears not indicated. The time it takes to reach staff is weeks.
Excellent service. I love yo buy things, excellent quality and great stuff.
The two items look great; however, they were a gift and my daughter has need opened them yet.
Do not use this site to buy anything designer!
I just purchased a bag from there, it was a Celine bag. And I read the full description of all the marks on the bag. When the bag arrived, the front of it was full of marks, these marks were not visible in the photos. They obviously enhance the pictures. This means That when you are buying from them, they are essentially lying about the quality, and will refuse to give you a refund or your money back or allow a return. Now I'm stuck with a bag full of marks that were NOT in the photos or description. Such a scam.
Picture 1. From the site
Picture 2. In reality
Picture 3. Description that does NOT indicate marking on front

This pendant was appraised at $1200. With an LA jeweler downtown
I decided to have the Realreal sell it. Send it in check with them after a month. They said it hadn't been appraised yet. They ended up selling it for $400 without checking back with me. This site is an absolute joke. It will be a waste of your time to sell anything with them. Their percentage is outrageous that they take from you Please save your time and energy. This company is awful so unorganized.
BEWARE! I have been dealing with the Real Real for 11 days about a $2000 Balmain blazer I sent to them to sell that I bought from them. After countless days of waiting, phone calls, emails (that go unanswered) and customer service chat line, no one can give me the truth. I used their provided UPS label and got confirmation it arrived and was signed for on July 8th. It is now the 19th and the Real Real is clueless. And customer service is a joke. They lost the blazer, cannot find it, and are trying to buy a few more days to "locate" it. I was a repeat customer. Not anymore.
I wanted to sell some items on The RealReal so they sent a representative to my house to pick up the items they sold the items three months ago. I still have not been paid. I've tried to contact them via telephone. All I can do is instant message them, they promised me 12 different times that the money was going to be deposited. It still has not been deposited as of now.
$2800 commission due to me and I have not received one penny
This company is a joke. Don't waste your time or aggravation with them.
Beware - they have horrible customer service support. Most promo codes don't work & it's impossible to get any adjustment. Pictures are deceiving - not displayed on real people and purposely missing basic back & side shots! Make sure you really really want it before you pay $15 to ship. I'm NO longer a fan of this company.
Sent in a long list of consignments in May and was told that I would be paid by July 15th, 18th and 21st by different CSR's with TRR and now here it is July 21st no payment. And the commission payment for May alone was nearly $2,000. I send all the consignments and now the consignor will not return my call! Stay far away from TRR!
This is the most arrogant and incompetent company to deal with. There is no phone number to call, only texting or email. My order got canceled. After I spent over 30 minutes texting, customer service said, "We have reported the problem, wait for customer service to get back to you." I literally just wasted 30 minutes to get no reply. Then, three days later, I got an email reply saying, "I request you to please create a new account so you do not face any issues at the purchase time." So, I made another order, and it was canceled again. I emailed customer service and got the reply, "After looking into your account status further, we can confirm that your account has been deactivated. Our Account Manager has notified us that the account was deactivated as a result of not meeting the eligibility requirements outlined in our terms and conditions." What a waste of time dealing with this company. The customer service and account manager can't help or solve any issue. Stay away from "The RealReal" because their customer service is nonexistent.
Terrible Customer Service. I'm so disappointed in TRR. I purchased a cashmere sweater and it arrived with a hole in the sleeve, and yes, they were prompt to refund the cost of the garment. However, they outright refused to cover the shipping. As I live in Australia, I explained that means I now have to pay US$50 to replace it. After much discourse they credited me US$25, but that still doesn't cover the shipping. Also, it became evident that the person I was dealing with wasn't even bothering to read my input to the discussion. Not Happy Jan!
I'm not sure what has changed with the leadership of this company but the parity, customer service, and efficiency has gone down the drain. I recently sent items for consignment. Within a week in a half, they were marked down to 20% off. In contrast, there's a pair of boots that I watched remain the same price for over a month of being for sale. When the boots were finally marked down, they were only reduced to 5% off, which they remained for an additional 2 weeks. Meanwhile, my consignment item was marked down to 60% for the same time frame. My items sold for pennies on the dollar at a huge loss for me. Imagine consigning designer Fendi shoes in very good condition and only receiving $20 in commission. How is it that certain items get to be sale for longer time periods before being marked down, and when they finally are marked down- it's in very small increments?
Additionally, I observed a Gucci coat that keeps going back and forth between 40 and 50% off. It was recently 50% of for almost a week in a half, now it's 40% off AGAIN. Be careful to look at the images of items for sale. I was about to purchase a Gucci suede cape and it was listed in Excellent condition, but the pictures showed lots of marks and brushing on the suede. It obviously isn't in good condition. A pink pair of Amina Muaddi heels are listed as Very Good condition, but there are scuffs, discolorations, and marks shown on the back and sides of both shoes. Be observant before you purchase.
The Pricing is incorrect. For example, This Celia B dress was originally $287.50 on the designer's website, but it's listed at $455 as the original price on The Real Real site. How in the world did they come up with the price point? If a customer buys this item, they will be paying almost $400 for a dress that was never even valued at $300 by the designer. Do your research before just buying and taking the Real Real's word for it. This item was never $455. The also have the same dress listed as $435 as the original price. The company needs to be more efficient.

I have been a loyal customer of TheRealReal for several years. I remained loyal- even when they increased their prices on certain designers, even though they sold me a heavy cigarette wreaking Rachel Zoe cape and only allowed me to receive a credit for returning it, and most recently after I placed an order they noted it was packed inside the box but never was( but was later told they couldn't find it in the warehouse-although they still charged me for it until I called about the discrepancy).
I do not plan to consign with them anymore. Many of my items could have been sold on a competitor site for a better price. The consignment prices offered doesn't seem fair to me.
Today I encountered a not so nice and severely lack of customer service focused rep named Leandra. She was rude and didn't even listen. I requested to return a Chanel bag, that upon opening, the zipper was not closing all the way. First, I did not know that the bag was not returnable. What am I supposed to do with a defective item that isn't usable? The miserable rep, Leandra put me on hold. Then she comes back and tells me that they will not accept the bag back, because they made an exception for me in April for a bag that had stains. I immediately thought WOW, You are that petty and miserable. I have purchased goods from TheRealReal since the company started in 2011. So, I have been a customer for 6 years and you make ONE exception for stains on a white handbag in that 6 year period? Please note, I have made HUNDREDS of purchases in that 6 year time frame.
First, she mentioned that items that are 40% off are not returnable. I stated that the item was NOT 40% off. Then she changed her statement.
Who actually knows the rule she stated that All Handbags are NOT returnable?
There has been MANY instances to which TheRealReal employees didn't notice snags , put the wrong color, deficiencies, additional stains, horrific cigarette smells, and many other attributes that they allowed to slip through the cracks and be sold?
As I await to hear from a supervisor, I am trying to fix the zipper and put it back on track.
After dealing with Leandra, I have realized that I am not valued as a customer nor respected. No matter how much money I have contributed throughout my 6 years as a customer to TheRealReal's bottom line, I am not shown any consideration or value.
As of result of Leandra's actions, I no longer plan to consign or buy from TheRealReal in the future. I plan to also share my experience with Leandra with my 56 member fashion group, my 289,000 Instagram followers and urge them not to do business with the company as well. All of the items that I have recently purchased that are returnable, I plan to return. There are many competitors of TheRealReal out there that may show a longtime customer consideration, respect, and good customer service.
3 items purchased were verified fake. They will not refund.
A $300 bracelet (fake GUCCI) was sent loose in an empty box. I didn't believe the documentary, now I do.
Sent a brand new with tags LeVian ring. They CUT THE TAG OFF! WHY? New bags have tags, new clothes have tags. They had NO right and NO reason to do that. I am LIVID!
I sent a NEVER used pristine Gucci ladylock bag in. I asked five times for an indicator. They told me AFTER it was on the site I would see the price. Um, no, you will tell me the price RANGE now or zip want my bag back. I'm supposed to find out the price when it's live so somebody can buy it and I'm just sol if I don't like the price. Shady shady shady! It took three weeks and the BBB getting involved to get my bag returned.
They returned it with the crossbody strap attached, shoved in the dust bag and tied the straps in a double knot.
I sent the strap (which contains the keys) on a separate pouch so it couldn't get band or scratch the unscratched hardware.
I am so SO angry! Now I have a ring that's brand new with a cut off tag, so where's the proof it's brand new. They just dropped the value of a brand new item!
Imagine all the bs the people are going through when people buy their stuff. They need to be closed down. They're a disgusting business.
I ordered Hermes Kelly 32. I received a Hermes Kelly 35. I had to jump through hoops, and waste hours on the phone in order to get a refund.
After informing The Real Real that I as sent the wrong size back, and having to submit measurements of the bag here is what the customer service response was: " I completely understand your anxiety. If I were in your place, I'd be filled with uncertainties and concerns.".
This is not acceptable service. Shame on you Real Real!
Stay away from ordering from a company that clearly doesn't care about their customer and only cares about selling merchandise that they can't even list correctly on their website.
Many of high-valued designer clothes such as Casey Casey, Daniela Gregis, Sofie D'Hoore, etc. were listed at 5% of the value and when I requested repricing, the items were already sold and I received a commission of 1%. If you can sell it any other way, do it.
RealReal mishandled my Louis Vuitton travel piece, priced it way below market value & when I requested return, parts came back missing. RR wants to pay me the low price (I did not agree to price) after they take out 40% commission! They LOST the item Real Real did NOT SELL the item. Why take a hefty commission? Customer Service ignores emails for weeks at a time! Horrible company!
If you are thinking of purchasing something with The Real Real, please reconsider. I purchased an item and was told over a week later (after many phone calls and emails) that the item I paid for was being sent to somebody else.
No updated and I am still waiting on a refund. Absolutely ridiculous. Stay away from this poor excuse of a website.
I sold a pair of brand new leather booties. When I purchased they were final sale so couldn't return them. Purchase price was close to $100. I tried them on twice and decided they were too narrow. I had sold items on the site previously and decided to use it again. By the time the price was reduced and fees were deducted I got an.80 check in the mail. I should have found someone to give the booties to for free. I will NEVER use this site again.
Answer: Do not buy from them! Their return/refund policy is skewed to their benefit. In my case, I bought a Louis Vuitton bag and when it was received it was not in the condition advertised or the photos did not highlight the real wear of the bag and they refused to make a refund or credit. It's their lost because I have since bought many bags on Ebay which offers guarantee of refund should item be faulty or misrepresented. Also, on Ebay you can judge by seller feedback whether the seller is reputable and PRICES are so much less than on the REAL REAL. Their name should be changed to the REAL GREED!
Answer: Hi Samantha. The RealReal does sometimes ask for additional information from customers for a one time security check. Most times, this is for new customers who have never shopped with us before, orders with vastly different billing and shipping information, or are international customers with unverified credit cards. We will ask for some sensitive and personal information for the purposes of verifying the identity of the purchaser but we will not ask for a Social Security Number. Was your father attempting to complete his purchase via Affirm? Affirm is a third party company we work with that offers financing on purchases. If your father was attempting to complete a purchase via Affirm, they do require a SSN for a soft credit check for the loan approval and repayment options. As Affirm is a third party, we do not have access to any of that information so it is secure with Affirm. Of course, no one is required to use Affirm for check out, rather it's just another payment option we offer. Please feel free to reach out to us if this does not answer your questions or if you feel that the explanations provided were not applicable to your situation. You can reach out to our Customer Service Department at (855) 435 5893 from 8am to 5pm (PST). If you would like to speak to a supervisor directly, please feel free to ask for Caitlin from our NJ office. She is available from 9am to 6pm (EST) and of course you can reach us via email at: customerservice@therealreal.com.
Answer: If you like to be frustrated, disappointed and want to take a few years off your life, then yes consign with the real real.
Answer: I do NOT recommend selling through TRR. Read all seller reviews. This a speed selling co trying to cash in on a quick commission. The prices they assign are RIDICULOULOUS at best. They are not there to get you a good price but a fast buck for themselves. They priced a brand new prada bag with a label on at $625. Minus 20% permanent discount, 60% of that, I receive a whopping $312. After 10 days wait of processing and seeing the prices assigned I pulled my items. I was shocked and even more upset. I rather give the cloths to charity or sell them myself. I think it is insiders who buy the best items at dirt cheap prices they assign themselves. As a buyer just today I receive a wrong item. They were going to research the problem and find the item I purchased, a coat. They sent me a dirty silk top... This is after waiting for 10 days to get the wrong item. This co is just very bad. Customer service is spotty. Some reps are just dreadful. They sound like this is a summer gig and they got no training, you can never speak to a supervisor, none is ever available, Read the reviews and decide if you still want to use this co. If you do, you will be disappointed,
Answer: Hello, We are sorry to hear of your concerns. If you can please send us your order number or email address we will happily research this further.
Answer: Hi Frank, Thank you for reaching out. We apologize you have seen more negative than positive reviews. We would be pleased to advise you on our consignment process and share a little more insight about the RealReal.
Answer: I don't work for The Real Real I am just a satisfied customer, very satisfied! I see all the complaints, and just shake my head. Knowing how people can be, and also knowing the complainers are the ones who write letters, I can only assume they are "out of touch with reality", or POSSIBLY are competitors who are just being difficult to try and hurt the site. Remember, anyone can write anything, that does not mean it is true, nor are ALL the facts being presented! As for me, I am willing to show, and prove who I am, and the great products and service I received.
Answer: This happened to me only one time, and I have sold quite a few items with them. As soon as I received the quote for a pair of earrings. I contacted them immediately and said I felt the price was to low due to various reasons, and they got back to me the next day with an adjusted price. I have never experienced what you are describing above as a bait and switch scenario, and I always check the similar or same items they are selling. I would just call them and ask for the details as to why the other item is higher. Sorry you had a bad experience!
Answer: File a complaint with the US Customs office in your area and your state's attorney general. Also for many types of goods, they will destroy the counterfeit goods and give you a letter stating they have done so. This is ironclad proof for the bank dispute.
Answer: I have returned things with no hassle at all.
