Blocked by HBC The Bay customer service

I accidentally deleted my gift card and wanted to use it for back to school shopping. I contacted HBC/The Bay on the phone and they said they had no record of my email or the sender's email. I tried via email, chat and got the same response which made absolutely no sense as it was sent from The Bay and I'd just had gifts delivered to me from the same person and all of the emails from those—the person (a family member) was going through a significant life event and I felt it was unkind to ask them something so trivial as checking for an email receipt for a gift card—couldn't Hudson's Bay look it up from that information? Only the recipient of the email would have access to the gift card if they resent it. Couldn't they look at form of payment in our order history, our names and email addresses? I finally contacted them on Facebook and they BLOCKED me. Completely bizarre experience! I've shopped at The Bay my entire life and had no idea they had such creepy customer service.
Edit to add the last three messages would not send following me providing the information they asked for. All of my other messages in messenger are working perfectly.

Hudson bay blanket
September 4, 2023

I purchased a Hudson Bay Blanket (Queen size and a six pointer) The top end of the blanket is beginning to UNRAVEL. I contacted the customer service department and was told there was nothing they could do. This is a pretty poor show for an item that cost over $500. The 10 year protection plan from defects is useless.

Bad service
August 19, 2023

Went to the Bay cosmetic section today to buy some higher end products and wish I had not. The clerk was not friendly, hardly said a word when I said I thought she had given me a wrong color of foundation she got annoyed. I showed her what I have she said well this is the same? No clearly it is not. When she rang it in she did something wrong the computer shut down she walked away. We stood there she finally came back asked us to follow her where she told another clerk to ring it in under her. Not another word. My bill was not cheap my husband and daughter were with me and said why did you buy anything here. My daughter wanted me to return it all. In this day and age service is important I probably should return it all.
No more shopping there.

Bad customer service

In December 2022 i pay two items on line and change my mind when I received it. The color on the picture was not matching with the reality. I return the two items after one week. They give me back money only for one item. Since December 2022 I claim with their customer service for the total reimbursement...nothing...Their customer service are lying, I call 5 times and can't speak to a supervisor. They give me wrong confirmation with wrong confirmation number. Can't recommend this...non sense

Dissapointed

I shopped for a Calvin Klein bra. I found one iintermitently dispersed on three different racks with various titles. There was no apparent staff and I walked around to find a fitting room.
Having found an appropriate bra I wandered the store trying to find a "service" station. I found a wandering service person to inquire. At the point of sale I was required to pay 25 cents for a bag so as not to walk through the store with a bra and receipt in hand.
As you would surmise, this was a totally ineffectual experience.I I can only hope that Costco can again access this article for future purchaces..

Why spend your money at a business that won't answer their phones? I called 3 different locations to speak to an operator/customer service. It's the same number. No one answered. This customer services says "We want your money, not your problems", which is what not answering the customer service number is saying.

Placed an order online. They sent me damaged items. They were final sales but their customer service asked me to return so they send me the refund. Not even they didn't send me any refund but also they don't respond any of my emails either. Filled a complain with authorities as they items worth near $500. They have the items and my money. Is that not called stealing someone money?
Never will but anything online from Hudson Bay again.

I bought a Club Monaco dress and paid using Affirm. Any normal e-commerce store takes you to Affirm, at the end of online checkout and then once it's processed, it takes you back to the order confirmation page. Everything seemed rosey as The Bay had the same process and I was happy to see I was redirected back to the Order Confirmation page. I got several emails from Affirm saying Thank you for your payment. One of the emails said "We've received your $XYZ payment to your The Bay purchase, and they've applied it to your purchase."

Great, I thought - totally smooth sailing. Except... Two weeks later I still hasn't received an Order Confirmation email which usually comes the same day you placed the order.

When I called Customer Service and told them what happened, they looked up my phone number and said there was no order associated with the date - nothing! On top of that, they even tried to gas light me and say that Affirm processed payment but I, as the customer, never pressed Order Confirmed and basically implied it was my fault. What?!?! I had to ask the lady if she had ever done an e-commerce purchase before - was she being for real? As a customer, we don't even have the option to choose Order Confirmation after paying - it just automatically directs to the Thank You page. I even asked her what kind of e-commerce store TAKES YOUR MONEY and then never sends the order! I also asked her if other people have experience this and she pretended not to hear me. All of this is actually grounds for a lawsuit.

These people are trained to avoid answering your questions so the Bay has no liability and is not at fault. I would not recommend ordering from The Bay ever until they figure out the foundations of e-commerce. Seriously embarrassing since they are supposed to represent online retail as a major brand for Canada. Executives, wake up and invest in your online infrastructure to make things actually work. Not even optimize it. Get it to just work. You have so much money - I've seen mom and pop online stores operate e-commerce better than you.

Seriously embarrassing stuff guys.

I bought a pair of shoes for my daughter online and it was too small for her. When I took it back to exchange the size, the salesperson said it was a final sale and it can not be exchanged. I talked with the manager and also Customer Service without having any outcome. I asked for the store credit and they refused to give me anything. I will never ever do any kind of shopping at Bay. I am suggesting everyone not to do any kind of shopping there. I have never seen such poor Customer Service anywhere in Canada. I won't be surprised if they declare bank Korapsi soon.

Ordered a sectional couch early March, 2023. I was told it would be delivered on April 4th. The night before, they phoned to say it had been changed to April 19th. I missed the call and they left a message. They called back almost immediately (leaving a second message), saying it's actually changed to April 25th. Right before April 25th, they phoned and said it would be delivered/available on May 9th.

The sectional was delivered on May 9th with only TWO of the three parts of the sectional (missing the middle/main piece)! It was confirmed the night before that all three pieces were in stock. Then when my husband phoned to see what had happened, they said the last piece will be available on June 13th. He was obviously upset with them and they hung up on him. He phoned back, they hung up again. Never EVER again will we shop at Hudson's Bay. Had we known it was going to be such a process, we would've just bought a couch somewhere else. We intentionally set that delivery date (that they said was available because they only deliver on Tuesday's) because we moved into a new house and didn't have living room furniture. We have two young children, so this has made things difficult for us, as we went a month without a couch. And now over another month (hopefully?) without the main piece. We've been offered a $100 HB gift card for the inconvenience…pft. Definitely not worth the headache.

Thomas is a great manager at Sherway, he is very patient, very attentive, very responsble and took his time from his busy schedule to make things right for the customers. Shopping at the Bay at Sherway is a pleasure experience for us. Thanks Thomas for the follow up on our purchase.

The bay needs to get a new buyer of clothes. All the clothes in the bay are made for old people. The tops all very conservative and boring as are all the dresses. They seriously need to have a better selection of clothes for all ages not just for old people. Same with the shoe selection. Not everyone likes to dress old and boring. They used to have such a nice selection of dresses 10 years ago. They must have hired a new buyer. Big Mistake!

I ordered a jacket. I was sent the wrong size. It was huge. The marketplace seller responded but then ghosted me. Didn't tell me how to return the item. I had to escalate to the Bay customer service. Then they forced me to return the item at my cost. I will never buy again from The Bay/Zellers marketplace.

Barely a ONE STAR!

I have never had such poor customer service! WOW! The worst! The Bay has really gone down hill. WILL NOT be buying or even looking on line anymore! They've added Marketplace, and who knew you couldn't return it! SO upset! Now I have to pay to return a heavy jacket which will cost alot to ship. Never again for me and I've been considered a loyal customer for years.

Very bad experience!

I have made an order, they made me wait for weeks, and every time I call their customer service they say: "just wait!". Then, the order has been returned to them! However, this time when I called them about this, they say: " Sorry, we have nothing to do for you!"

I recently ordered high end cosmetics tool online to get SPRING code for 25% off and they offer apply Neo MasterCard to get 15% on the first purchase, after go through all process to approve the card but it won't allow the 15% combined using on my order, please hope the Bay should clear up this issue it's a scam or fraud to mislead the customer.

The most terrible customer service I have encountered! It took over a month to get a return on an online purchase and I called several times and was told lies. It was only after I contacted the seller Tobbagaon Canada several times that I got the refund a month later. I had to literally say I will make a report to the police in order to get the refund back. I had returned the jacket in store and it took bay two weeks to say they received it and the refund was processing. Then after waiting a month I called bay customer service and they would lie and say things like a supervisor will call you in 48 hours and we'll give you the processing credit back as a gift card. Not only did they not intend to provide a refund but they took a processing fee! I would call again and they would say they would work it out but to give them another 48 hours. I even emailed them the proof where bay sent me an email claiming they have received the jacket and are processing a return. What a scam! Never shopping at Bay or Tobaggan Canada again!
