I will never pay retail for a new phone again, now that I've found swappa. The wireless companies used to provide personal service and they gave you a sense of security in buying your new phone from them. A lot of that is gone so why pay the exorbitant prices. Swappa has created a space that goes to great lengths to keep communication clear all around and make sure the products sold on it are legitimate and properly shown. I have bought 2 higher end phones recently and there were zero problems with either of them or the transactions associated with them. I got a great deal without the shadiness that some used electronics sites can have.
So my family ended up moving carriers. A friend of mine had used this website Swappa and saved a nice little bit of money by doing so. I headed over and subscribed to some post feeds and when the opportunity presented itself I ended up buying 2 different phones. The website was EASY to use and the sellers were very accommodating during the process. We received the phones in the condition described and in a timely manner. The benefit of using Swappa is the buyer is protected. The site itself has moderators that make sure everything is legit and then the use of paypal is added protection. Easy and safe. I will use again when it comes time to upgrade. We only bought this time but looking forward to selling and buying new upgrades.
This tablet is immaculate! If I didn't know it was pre-own, it would be hard to prove it wasn't! This made my first Swappa buy a joy! Your photos were great and you have renewed my faith in buying used electronics on-line. Thanks!
The site is easy to navigate and the features make it simple to communicate with the sellers directly. The full disclosures and policies are prominently displayed, making potential buyers feel confident about the entire process. I'm glad Swappa helps protect the buyer in case something goes wrong, and I didn't feel like anyone was trying to rip me off. It helps when the sellers are stand-up people, too. Here's a review I left after my recent purchase:
"Speedy! Phone was delivered just 3 days after it was shipped. Showed up in solid condition. Phone hadn't been factory reset, but the seller worked with me to get it unlocked from the previous iCloud account. Jason responds to messages quickly, and I'm happy with the sale."
Swappa used to be the greatest, but as with most stuff... scammers have infiltrated the platform. I have had 2 bad experiences in my last 4 transactions. Still an awesome idea, just bewarewho you are dealing with.
I saw the site advertised on XDA frequently, so wanted to try it out. Just like eBay or other direct seller sites. Swappa has good ways of describing the items for sale and sellers are clear about the items. I'll use it again.
The software is simple to use, providing everything in one spot. Upload photos of your phone or tablet, explain its features and accessories, detail any damage or flaws, set a price, and accept or reject buyer offers. The app also includes a ranking system that allows you to rate buyers based on their communication skills and professionalism.
Unlike having to sift through a ton of phones on EBay, often with high priced cracked screen phones (or poor condition phones with stock photos instead of the actual item bought) on Swappa.com the phones sold here have clear pictures of WHAT you are ACTUALLY buying. And you can communicate with the seller before buying. Also you can get a great deal on a decent phone for a lot less than what's offered elsewhere. I highly recommend Swappa.com and enjoying my new phone!
Fast shipping... device in better condition than I had hoped for, Terrible communicator, you can't have everything. However, Swappa didn't do any inquiry even after 10 day passed since the transaction. Nor did Swappa show any concern when the cell was bought on the 17th and today (the 27th) the seller still hasn't reported that the phone was shipped. Swappa should be more proactive in monitoring what happens after the money changes hands.
I was very skeptical about buying a used device without physically seeing it and testing it, but this gambit (so far) has paid off.
Phone arrive promptly on time. Description was accurate (unlocked, in "good condition" with minor scratches and scuffs). Charger was included. Phone activated with my carrier with no issues. Everything seems to be working perfectly on the phone (e.g. Powers on, charges, camera, bluetooth, etc).
I'm very pleased with this purchase, and will more than likely do business with Swappa again in the future!
Wanted a Iphone for my 11yr old without paying full price. I was able to find an iPhone 5 in mint condition for less than $200 no scratches cracks or anything... needless to say swappa made this a safe and secure transaction
The HTC M8 I bought was just as described with fast shipping. Seller had great communication and even added signature confirmation for me. Couldn't ask for a better transaction. The next time I buy a phone it will be from Swappa again.
I ordered my son a mint condition Samsung S5 phone and he loved it! The phone was indeed in mint condition as described! Battery charged well, camera works well and sound quality is very good. We are very pleased with the quality of the phone for the price. Was a little worried about buying a used phone but will buy again from this site as I do not want to every buy a new phone again! Thanks!
I expected a lot of hassle, slow shipping and problems with the phone that I received before I processed the order as I didn't know much about the site or process.
The process was very easy to order a phone from someone. Seller shipped very fast 2 day shipping. Phone was in near perfect condition and works flawlessly. Site is really easy to navigate and offers a great service. I would definitely order from trusted sellers on Swappa.com again!
Real people can sell their stuff for a small fee unlike ebay which got too greedy. In fact I found items on swappa that I COULD NOT find on ebay, because ebay repels real sellers from selling their individual items. Ebay instead is only good for huge business with tiny margins, but not for selling your personal items. Swappa on the other hand is fantastic and I really enjoyed my buying experience. I don't know about selling yet but buying was a wonderful experience.
Bought a "mint" iPhone 6 recently. Phone didn't function properly from the start but was still usable. As time went on the phone rapidly decreased, now it will barely go 10 minutes without restarting. Tried to get refunded or get a different phone from the site but they say they don't deal with that, need to contact the seller. The seller told me they couldn't do anything and pretty much sucks to be you because it was after 30 days. Paid about $400 dollars for a piece of junk phone and can't do anything about it. Ridiculous site, would avoid at all costs. Total scam.
Swappa gives me the confidence to purchase a used phone knowing if something is wrong, I will be taken care of. Because of the high standards at Swappa, I can confidently buy a phone. When I took my latest purchase into AT&T to get the phone activated, the sales dude try to explain why paying twice as much to him for the same phone was a good idea. No need for such high prices - Swappa is there.
IPhone 6 purchase for my daughter's 16th birthday. Site was easy to navigate. And I cant believe how fast the shipping was. This phone looks brand-new I did not find a scratch or dent on it anywhere. It was a pleasure doing business with you thank you very much!
Marty ;)
I forget how I stumbled upon Swappa, but I'm never looking back. The rest of my phones are going to be bought from this site. So far, I have bought 2 Galaxy S7's (6 months apart), both perfectly working and in great condition. Granted, the second one was a little scratched up but the price reflected that! It was ~$120 less, plus a case covers up the few light scratches it has. Both phones came within 4 days and I couldn't be happier. The Swappa staff are always ready to help too which is a perk.
No simple paint by the numbers demo of process[steps] to rate transaction and close out transaction. Paypal customer service is a ***expletive deleted*** disaster if you sell phones on the site and try to get your funds. I had to set up a separate account to receive funds and it still is not correct. It is very easy to buy through paypal giving them a credit card number. Your experience for the buyer was very very good. Leave a phone number and I will tell you about it.
Answer: Hi Neisha. Swappa is quite safe! Please see the 500+ reviews on this site referencing the safe and pleasant buying experience that is Swappa. Please email help@swappa.com if you have further questions. Thanks for using Swappa!
Answer: Hi Peggy. If you receive a device that is not as advertised then you can return it for a refund. Our policy is that simple. Swappa staff works hard to prevent problems from happening, and PayPal has extensive buyer protections in case they do. Buy with confidence. Thanks for using Swappa.
Answer: Hi Alfred, Swappa requires all users to provide the ESN number for each device when creating a listing as a verification step. For more questions, please email our support team - help@swappa.com Thanks!
Answer: Very safe, I've bought and sold over 40 phones using Swappa and have only had one problem... When that happened both Swappa and PayPal had my back.
Answer: Yes, you should remove and keep your SIM card when you sell your used phone. SIM cards are tied to your account, so are not transferable. More information and why in our FAQ: https://swappa.com/faq/sell/sim_card_included
Answer: Because they are scammers and a holes. They can't be bothered with you. Awful site. Use eBay instead.
Answer: Swappa guarantees it which goes above and beyond paypal. They are running IMEI checks and they do a great job. It's on you when you receive your phone to go through the phone check list to make sure it's good, checking cameras, microphones wfi, bluetooth, water damage check, things like that. Its really worry free buying.
Answer: Contact Swappa support. If an item is not as described by seller, the buyer is entitle to a refund.
Answer: Most sellers don't ship to African countries. This is because they include a reasonable fee on their prices to cover for shipping in the US, I guess shipping to Africa would come at a higher cost and they seem to be avoiding that for whatever reason. However, you can research and register for a freight forwarding company and have your orders shipped to them. In turn, these companies will forward your order to you when they receive it. As I pointed out before, this is something you have to read about and carefully consider. Hope that helps.
Swappa has a rating of 3.6 stars from 3,176 reviews, indicating that most customers are generally satisfied with their purchases. Reviewers satisfied with Swappa most frequently mention great experience, new phone and mint condition. Swappa ranks 5th among Marketplace sites.
Thanks for using Swappa!
