The concept of the site is great. The only thing lacking is buyer protection. I received a phone with a dead pixel right in the center of the screen. It should be the sellers responsibility to check these things before sale.
Do yourself a favor, stick with Amazon, Ebay, or Newegg. They actually have customer service willing to help.
The customer service for this site is so awful I removed both my listings within 24 hours of posting them. Swappa appears to be run by hipster 20-somethings are better at shirking responsibility than getting you a great deal on your phone. I'll never, ever use them again. The back and forth I encountered with their customer service agents---wow. No words. Condescending, rude, unprofessional, and utterly tone deaf. Lucas Freeman was a particularly awful agent.
I ordered a phone for $700 plus, conditioned on prompt shipment. The seller shipped on time -- by the slowest method, which is predicted by UPS to take six days, which means that it might arrive sometime late next week if I am lucky. Swappa said, "too bad, UPS ground is acceptable." Stick with Amazon fulfillment or Prime -- at least you'll get your item in some reasonable time. I buy horse equipment online and, even on Facebook Marketplace, the shipping time is less than 1/2 of Swappa. Stay away unless you have no need for what you are buying.
Donna,
Shipping on Swappa is built into the cost. Our shipping policy is here: https://swappa.com/faq/answer/safe_standard_shipping_policies
Comparing free shipping on Swappa to a paid yearly subscription model like Amazon prime is simply not a fair comparison.
Many of our sellers offer priority tracking and/or express shipping options if needed.
A site that specifically states that each and every single one of their products has been vetted and met their criteria for sale, I was surprised to receive a product that does not in any way, shape or form meet up with what was listed on their website. And upon seeking further assistance from their "help"@swappa. Com, lol, I was met with a staff member that basically offered me nothing but excuses and poor attempts at trying to shy away from resolving my issue and here I am, still waiting for a resolution. So anyone hoping to make a purchase using their site, hope everything goes exactly as it should because if it doesn't, you're on your own. If you think the staff will be able to help, you are fooling yourself.
Sean, if the product you received wasn't as described as in the listing, you are eligible for a full refund. Our support team is available to help you through this process. Unlike many other sites, we actually have a team of trained tech experts who are available everyday to help resolve issues like yours.
Zero communication from the 3rd party seller for 72 hours, where finally a shipping label was created but still never shipped. Rather than the seller finally communicating a shipping date, they retaliated against a Paypal claim and had my account banned. Facebook/eBay/Reddit/Back Market/Gazelle are all better options. Save yourself the headache as Swappa's support seems to be run by teenagers.
I've been a buyer/seller on Swappa for a long time. I've never had an issue. I don't have any neighbors close to me. It's usually the sellers job to contact USPS to put in a claim. I've roped in Swappa since contacting local law enforcement isn't something I'm going to waste my time or theirs for $150.00. Swappa support was zero help and although the device was marked "delivered" it was clearly not at my address. Seller sent uninsured and no signature means it could've gone anywhere. I won't be utilizing their services any longer. (Seller: The Cellular Resource)
I bought a iPhone 11 Pro from celltrade on Swappa. Long story short I received a semi- functioning phone, that was advertised as in mint condition. I immediately reported the problem to Swappa and the seller Celltrade. They requested I send phone back,Unfortunately being a busy professional I had to keep the phone or I could not function at work. A better solution would have been for the seller to send me a replacement phone first and then I could have sent them the flawed phone back. But no they don't care about the buyer. Now I'm stuck with a phone that continuously goes to black screen of death. Swappa makes money of people like me so they will side with the seller. Please, whatever you do, avoid both Swappa and Celltrade. You will get ripped off.
I appreciate that they do a lot of the work for me. Their sellers are reputable and I've never had an issue go unresolved. I'm very happy with this site and I'll continue to purchase my future electronics through it.
Awesome experience as usual I've purchased so many products in the past year and none have disappointed me. The descriptions are very accurate and they hold their sellers to a strict level of service and quality.
I purchased a slightly used iPad Pro 12.9 from a seller and received a great looking Product in return. The entire process was seamless and easy to use. Will reuse this site for future electronic purchases.
Hi Delana, great to hear you'll be back! Thanks for using Swappa :)
Once I learned how their payment system works and how your payout shows up on Paypal I was pleased with the service. Better price for me than selling it ty o an online store for them to make the profit.
Swappa made it really easy to find the phone I wanted at half the retail cost, in near mint condition, and with extra accessories that are useful.
Looking at another tablet next.
I recommended Swappa years before I actually used it.
Took my own advice, finally. Glad I did.
I had a great experience as a first-time Swappa user. I appreciated the easy yet through buying process and found the FAQ section to be quite useful. The way the site operated gave me a sense of confidence in the process. My seller was a bit slow posting the shipping and tracking info, but I was able to obtain that info quickly through the Swappa interface by chatting directly with the buyer. I'll be back here again the next time I need something for sure!
This is my 5th purchase of a phone on Swappa. Remarkably, I have been satisfied with all of my purchases. I feel Swappa does an excellent job of monitoring its listings and ensuring that Sellers adhere to the terms of their marketplace. That's why I have, and will likely continue to, purchase phones on Swappa's marketplace. Plus, I believe that I have saved hundreds of dollars over traditional retail outlets and auction sites. I consider myself to be a very satisfied customer.
I used Swappa 2 times. Purchased a used phone each time. Sellers' description of devices were accurate. No embellishments or hiding of minor faults like light scratches. Sellers shipped products very quickly. Both arrived within 3 business days. Devices activated normally without issue and are performing perfectly. I expect to use Swappa for all my device purchases in the future.
Swappa is the only place I buy devices now, they hold both sellers and buyers accountable for all transactions and have a flawless system in place that leaves no room for surprise. Everything I've bought has showed up exactly as described.
Was searching for new Samsung galaxy phone. Swappa not only provides seller buyer information. But they provide education materials price trends for buyers to make informed decision. Also had very good inventory of sellers. Sellers extremely responsive. Have bookmarked this site for future returns.
I've bought several things from Swappa and it just seems to be the best way to put quality buyers and sellers together. Would highly recommend using this as every experience for me has been a great one.
At first I was going to complain about the battery, as it lost much of its charge the next morning while not being used nor even connected to Verizon yet. But, after I charged it again and went to Verizon to get a new chip and reconnect, the charge held for 2 days even after having a LONG conversation or 2, taking photos and texting. It looks good and the touch screen is still very responsive, unlike the last same phone I bought on Swappa (which later broke when I accidentally dropped it). It's nice to know this phone came with a 30-day guarantee, however there was no paperwork to that effect in the mailed package. Makes me wonder what to do if the phone develops any problems? 3 days into use, tho, am quite happy.
You can buy used electronics with confidence. They do the leg work so you need not fear receiving a stolen device. Furthermore, it seems like the sellers are held to a higher standard and there is better accountability than other sale sites.

Answer: Very safe, I've bought and sold over 40 phones using Swappa and have only had one problem... When that happened both Swappa and PayPal had my back.
Answer: Yes, you should remove and keep your SIM card when you sell your used phone. SIM cards are tied to your account, so are not transferable. More information and why in our FAQ: https://swappa.com/faq/sell/sim_card_included
Answer: Because they are scammers and a holes. They can't be bothered with you. Awful site. Use eBay instead.
Answer: Swappa guarantees it which goes above and beyond paypal. They are running IMEI checks and they do a great job. It's on you when you receive your phone to go through the phone check list to make sure it's good, checking cameras, microphones wfi, bluetooth, water damage check, things like that. Its really worry free buying.
Answer: Contact Swappa support. If an item is not as described by seller, the buyer is entitle to a refund.
Answer: Most sellers don't ship to African countries. This is because they include a reasonable fee on their prices to cover for shipping in the US, I guess shipping to Africa would come at a higher cost and they seem to be avoiding that for whatever reason. However, you can research and register for a freight forwarding company and have your orders shipped to them. In turn, these companies will forward your order to you when they receive it. As I pointed out before, this is something you have to read about and carefully consider. Hope that helps.
Swappa has a rating of 4.1 stars from 3,177 reviews, indicating that most customers are generally satisfied with their purchases. Reviewers satisfied with Swappa most frequently mention great experience, new phone and mint condition. Swappa ranks 5th among Marketplace sites.
