I was very happy to find swappa. I've had an iPhone 4 for six years and it finally became too slow for me to continue using it. I decided to make the switch to Samsung but really did not want to invest over $500 in a new phone. I'm glad to be able to buy a used phone, as it's more environmentally friendly, and of course, cheaper. This phone arrived in 2 days and was exactly as described. I don't care about having the latest model so it was perfect for me. I appreciate the Swappa website over eBay because it seems the staff are more involved in making sure the phones are legitimate
I had a problem with my shipping address due to the fact that Swappa has to use the one that's listed on Paypal, but the seller and Swappa helped me to quickly fix the problem. My phone came in great condition, as advertised, soon after. In addition, the phone was much cheaper than Amazon's listing. I would definitely recommend Swappa to others. It would be nice if it were possible to search phones listed in order of price or other criteria, though.
I've been following swaps for a little over a year now. I've made two purchases and I must say the process is so easy and I know what I'm getting before I order it. The staff are amazing at helping step by step if there's an issue and the sellers are genuine and confident with their products. I don't really like online shopping but when it comes to phones which I purchase a lot of I know to go directly to Swappa.
I've bought several phones over the years through Swappa, and have always had a good experience. Swappa's requirements that phones be listed in actual condition, and not allowing them to be cracked/broken/etc really gives extra confidence in purchase vs through a local Craigslist or Facebook sale.
Bought a gently used phone at half the cost of what local stores were charging. Got to communicate with the original owner of phone prior to buying. Great place to buy. Will do it again when upgrading in 2 years or so.
I don't like buying new electronics because it's a waste! They depreciate immensely as soon as they're unboxed. The only problem with buying used is finding a way to do it reliably--getting the product that's advertised, in the condition that's advertised.
Swappa vets its sellers thoroughly, ensuring valid IMEI for each phone and requiring proof that the advertised phone actually exists (the seller must take a photograph of the phone next to a written code supplied by Swappa).
Swappa eliminates the fog of war between frugal customers and cheap, used, usable electronics.
I am very picky with sites like eBay and such. Swappa is a great site with even greater prices. Smooth transactions and all through PayPal which you know is secure. (Photo is shown of the watch I bought from swappa!)
The best ever experience with Online purchase. Pre-Sale questions were answered immediately and courteously. Their product 'Samsung-Note-4' was promptly shipped and received as promised, and its advertised condition of 'Mint' was even better than I expected. The entire process was flawless and far exceeding any expectations.
Every one has the feeling of how a second hand mobile/tablet will be. But Swappa sellers post multiple pictures of the device we are interested in. A real close up photos help us to take a decision on the purchase. I recommend swappa for sure :)
I, like many, am weary about using non-retail services to buy an iPhone. That anxiety is gone. The site is very easy to use: I got alerts when the Phone I was looking for came available, the item descriptions were detailed with pictures, and it was easy to negotiate a price. The phone I received works perfectly.
You can tell the people who run the site are serious about having a legitimate online market for phones. Thank you for helping me save money on a retail iphone!
My husband bought a laptop computer through your company for me in good faith. The seller did not provide the item as described in anyway conceivable and packaged it so poorly it came damaged. You did not even stand behind your own policies - your policies! You just turned your head and said let PayPal take over. How is anyone going to trust you. This is forcing me to give you a star but I give you a big zero. No buyer protection at all.
I have used eBay for about 15 years and over the past several years it has gotten really expensive to sell the cheapest of things. With Swappa, you pay very little in fees($10 per device) and that's it. No hidden fees or anything else like that. I have sold several devices as well as bought several devices and haven't had the first issue yet. The employees of Swappa are always there to help if you need it as well. I won't sell my old/used devices any place else other than Swappa and I'd recommend everyone else do the same!
This site is good if you have the background and experience to choose exactly what you need. There is no help or assistance if you make a mistake. In my case, I purchased a phone from a seller that was a used T-mobile phone for use on Metro PCS system, which uses the T-mobile network. Unfortunately not all the features of the phone worked. I contacted the seller and they were sympathetic and provided a refund. However, the Swappa site kept their share of the transaction fee. So I got nothing but Swappa made out on the deal (I'm grateful the seller was reasonable). The site is highly automated with lots of robot emails and replies. If you fall outside of normal business transactions you have a hard time getting support.
Swappa has been nothing short of helpful. Since this is a marketplace, sellers are responsible for accurately representing their items. I bought a 7 Plus that had something wrong with the sound quality (got checked by apple). I immediately let seller know and he is working with me to resolve the issue. Swappa was very responsive and informative on what the steps were to get it resolved. The whole experience has been so easy to work with them, and they are seriously so quick to get back to me with my questions and concerns. I accidentally marked the wrong sale complete (since I bought a new phone after the first purchase didn't work out) and they were able to fix it for me. I just feel like they have my back, and will definitely be recommending the site to everyone and anyone for buying and selling phones. I also sold my iPhone 6 Plus in 5 minutes after it was listed!
Thank you for the thoughtful and thorough review! And thank you for recommending Swappa - we appreciate it!
Great service it was my first time using swappa on my own and they didn't let me down. I got great device for half the price of a new one and mine was brand new in mint condition. The seller responded to me in a timely manner and provided all the information I needed to receive my package. If I had to order another device from them I surely would in a heartbeat. Thanks to swappa my cellular needs where met fast because I broke my last device and needed one asap
Hi Donjarale, thanks for using Swappa!
Swappa makes buying a smartphone a breeze. Easily see what is available at the current prices, filter easily by memory size/model, and interact with buyers instantly. No hidden fees and pre-screened devices (no cracked screens, clean imei, etc) makes this a great place to get a new phone, or to unload your current one hassle free.
The item I bought was shipped to the wrong address which was only due to their website being very unclear about which address it was going to be sent to. The shipping address you provide will be completely ignored so you might as well leave it blank. They said "the most we can do is recommend you contact the shipping agency to get it fixed." They didn't offer me any type of solution and refuse to give me a refund on this item that I never received. Swappa, nor the seller, are owing up to the issues and responds to my inquiries unapologetically, also blatantly giving false information, overall a very disappointing experience. My first and last time using this website.
Swappa provides a safe marketplace to buy or sell phones. I just completed the buy process, from research to making my first call on the new device in 2 days thanks to the hard work from their team. Everything was clear as could be and they hold your hand through the process to make sure your expectations are met.
Hello I have used swappa.com over 30 times to check the validity of there ratings. Their slogan is no junk devices. There is no more of a false statement then that. Anyone selling on that site can claim what ever rating they want. Out of the 30 purchases 3 never showed up, 22 showed up completely over stated about quality mint=good, mint=fair in even more cases. 5-6 showed up as described but that had to do with the sellers honesty not the sites, they allow this to go on so that they get their cut of the sale and will do anything to protect that. I am just saying purchase at your own risk because when things go wrong they are of no help to the buyer and get more upset about having to refund your sale fee then the fact that you got screwed out of hundreds of dollars.
Excellent experience. This is my second iPhone purchase from Swappa. The item was in better condition than expected, was mailed promptly and the tracking number sent to me. Simple to navigate and simple to use. A well run organization. Four stars for Swappa.
Hi Cam, thanks for using Swappa!

Answer: Hi Peggy. If you receive a device that is not as advertised then you can return it for a refund. Our policy is that simple. Swappa staff works hard to prevent problems from happening, and PayPal has extensive buyer protections in case they do. Buy with confidence. Thanks for using Swappa.
Answer: Hi Alfred, Swappa requires all users to provide the ESN number for each device when creating a listing as a verification step. For more questions, please email our support team - help@swappa.com Thanks!
Answer: Very safe, I've bought and sold over 40 phones using Swappa and have only had one problem... When that happened both Swappa and PayPal had my back.
Answer: Yes, you should remove and keep your SIM card when you sell your used phone. SIM cards are tied to your account, so are not transferable. More information and why in our FAQ: https://swappa.com/faq/sell/sim_card_included
Answer: Because they are scammers and a holes. They can't be bothered with you. Awful site. Use eBay instead.
Answer: Swappa guarantees it which goes above and beyond paypal. They are running IMEI checks and they do a great job. It's on you when you receive your phone to go through the phone check list to make sure it's good, checking cameras, microphones wfi, bluetooth, water damage check, things like that. Its really worry free buying.
Answer: Contact Swappa support. If an item is not as described by seller, the buyer is entitle to a refund.
Answer: Most sellers don't ship to African countries. This is because they include a reasonable fee on their prices to cover for shipping in the US, I guess shipping to Africa would come at a higher cost and they seem to be avoiding that for whatever reason. However, you can research and register for a freight forwarding company and have your orders shipped to them. In turn, these companies will forward your order to you when they receive it. As I pointed out before, this is something you have to read about and carefully consider. Hope that helps.
Swappa has a rating of 3.6 stars from 3,176 reviews, indicating that most customers are generally satisfied with their purchases. Reviewers satisfied with Swappa most frequently mention great experience, new phone and mint condition. Swappa ranks 5th among Marketplace sites.
Hi Whitney, thanks for using Swappa and for the great review!
