I recently had a problem pertaining to billing with my Spokeo account, (which was totally my mistake) and after several failed attempts at trying to resolve the issue myself I finally decided to call and speak to a customer service representative. The rep that assisted my calls name was Shane M. I was surprised at how helpful and eager to assist he was. Everyone knows call representatives are hit or miss. Some good, some bad, and everywhere in between but he was probably the most helpful I've ever been lined up with. He answered every one of my questions and was able to get to the root of the problem in no time. He was the most respectful individual and very understanding. I bet the business is thrilled to have him on their team and can't thank him enough for all his help. Made my day that seemed to be going rough seem a lot easier honestly. I was searching for a family member who moved away yeas ago. Found then on a free website, but had the old phone number. I paid Spokeo and tried to search for more information and they could not even find him. Nothing,-- not even an old address or phone number. Like he never existed...Don't waste your money.

When I started with Spokeo, it seemed that they had a lot to information to offer.
But the longer I am with them, the more I realize how out of date their database is.
I run 20-30 searches per day to confirm my marketing data, and at least half of them are incorrect (emails bounce back and phone numbers don't match). Even my own phone number which I have had for 12 years now is incorrect on their site and my number is not blocked or unlisted.

Spokeo misrepresented findings of an unknown caller. When # was entered the search box indicated it had detailed information on the unknown number entered. Spokeo then asks that you provide debit card information. I did so, but the information listed as having been found... i. e. Name address location was NOT what was shown AFTER Spokeo received my payment information. Total bait and switch and is a scam.

WHAT A JOKE! I signed up for a special "3 months for $9.95 membership". When i got the receipt i discovered that they had charged me $59.70. First of all, the only info I was given was birth month, year, zodiac sign and ethnicity. All of which is useless and already known. When I clicked the "full report" tab they wanted me to pay more money to see it. I then called customer service and they refused to refund my money even though i didn't get what was advertised. After arguing with them and asking for a supervisor they finally said they would refund $44.78. That means they still charged me $14.92 when it was only supposed to be $9.95 for the entire membership. What a scam!

I subscribe to Spokeo and find it very useful. In response to other reviews, yes some of the info is incorrect, but they don't create or edit the data, they compile it from other sources as is. What would be helpful (might already be there as I haven't checked) is a list of sources for the info provided on that person so people can go to the source to get it corrected if needed. Either way, it has helped me find information in several instances that is useful as is or as a starting point for more research.

Numerous hidden fees and "trial" subscriptions that you can't cancel even when you try to do so. Calls to customer service to cancel the subscriptions don't result in charges stopping. May also automatically sign you up for other "partner services" like "ID Theft" that you didn't order, are not worth anything, and again cannot be cancelled.

I was able to locate long lost friends and am quite grateful. I used Truth Finder as well, which was comparable, but I started to receive a LOT of unwanted pop-up solicitation. That was disturbing and a huge turn off. I did not experience this with Spokeo. When I no longer needed my subscription, they ended it with ease.

I was able to log on, get access, easy payment, and retrieved my first phone number, the sit is intuitive and easy to use. It's difficult to come up with 100 words since my association with this group is so recent and only used the one time I mentioned. I needed to find the real name of someone trying to extort money from me and insisted I give them 500 dollars or they would ruin my reputation

I recently contacted Spokeo regarding my subscription. I was pleased with the outcome and the level of service I received. I find that sometimes, people can be rude to companies when asking for their help; not that it gives anyone a reason to not help you, but it definitely doesn't motivate them to do so. Since I worked in collections, I realize the importance of being polite, professional and detailed. With this approach, I had a wonderful experience with Spokeo. I won't say that you will get your way if you "play nice", because it really depends on your situation; but it really doesn't get you anywhere to be impatient or nasty. Just a suggestion.

I've never even been on their site. They did somehow charge my card 3 times for
$. 69, $1.14 & $39.95 on the same day. Now I will have to call & sit on hold til someone fixes it or pay my bank $35 to dispute the charges.

In order for a Spokeo subscription to be created, a user must navigate to our website at www.spokeo.com and either click on the "Sign Up" button or perform a search and click on the "Get Full Results" button. The user would then be required to enter in a full 16 digit credit or debit card number along with the card's matching security code, cardholder name, card expiration date, card billing zip code, and enter a valid email address that becomes the username associated with the account. Once this information has been entered, the Terms of Use agreement must be checked and agreed to and then the "Purchase" button must be hit. Once these actions are completed and the information is verified as valid and matching, the user must then fill out a brief survey and set an account password to begin using the subscription. A purchase confirmation receipt is also sent to the account's email address. Please feel free to contact us should you have any questions or concerns.
While I am a new subscriber to Spokeo and just joined today, I will praise their customer support services. They were courteous, very helpful and resolved my issue quickly. I look forward to working with Spokeo in the days and weeks to come.

I purchased this service because there was someone calling from a random number to bother but they didn't give me any name or significant information, so then, I tried my number and my husband's number to see how accurate it was to find out that it was BS. I did a $. 95 search and ended up being billed for $19.95 for a Premium non refundable subscription for one month... Stay away from this company.
Update: Spokeo Refunded my $19.95 but They did not do so until I left a bad review. When I first called just hours after I was billed, I was told there would be no refund. But I will give them credit for resolving the issue...

When you signed up you selected our Single Search with Premium Trial plan, which provided you with an initial $0.95 Single Record as well as additional free Premium access for 7 days. As long as the trial is cancelled within 7 days, the account does not continue. Because your trial was not disabled within 7 days, a recurring subscription fee began to charge. Accounts of this type automatically renew if left active to prevent any service interruption. We try to make this very clear by detailing this on our payment page, including it in the disclaimer which has to be agreed to before the purchase is processed. In addition, the information is included in the confirmation receipt sent immediately after payment, as well as in our Terms of Use. I do apologize again if this was unclear in any way.

Information provided by Spokeo is highly inaccurate. Cancelling the trial subscription is possible only by calling their Help center. Only after they charge your credit card for $25, subscription cancellation option miraculously appear. Typical get ya service.

Answer: Three alternatives: 1) Logon with you old Spokeo account and contact customer support. 2) If you can't remember your old logon, 2.1) try a google search to find Spokeo customer service link or telephone number. 2.2) Spokeo has notes on some reviews. Maybe they have included their support number or link? 3) Call Visa and ask them to kill the Spokeo charges to your Visa account.

Answer: I cancelled Spokeo service due to selling me misinformation or inaccurate information. I got this in writing from David at Spokeo. They are good about sending a letter about we are sorry about not meeting your expectations. Our terms of use states we can do this blah blah blah. After I cancelled this subscription and got this in writing from David, I got a new debit card from my bank. Spokeo found the NEW CARD and charged it. I took the problem to my bank and got a credit. Be very careful of these people, watch your bank statements.
