For a whole year I did not realize they were charging per month. I have paid $350 for a $1 one time fee. I am livid. Currently discussing options with my bank and discussing with lawyer family members. This company is deceitful and they couldn't even find the number I looked up. Never told me I would be charged in follow up emails either.
Thieves. I gave cc information for their advertised intro rate of $3.95. After signing up, another page appeared with confusing offer of free trial and a mention of a monthly fee of $20+. I did a reverse phone number lookup to find out who keeps calling me and not leaving a message. This has been going on for several months. I am glad I signed up for one report for $0.95 and 7 day free trial offer... which I have already cancelled.
The report, which was according to Spokeo was going to give me name. Address, owner's e-mail, etc came back with UNKNOWN as the answer to each item.
Rip-off is the only way to describe Spokeo!

I have a rather unusual name so I just looked around without buying. Well it does have many of my previous abodes (I got around quite a bit) but it doesn't have my current one. (I've been here 4 years) Mind you, I fly under the radar, no facebook, no G+, minimal presence on LinkedIn, so it is to be somewhat expected. I looked up the spouse and her info is spotty too, but she's got a spotlight on her. All said, the accuracy is probably below 25% based on my anecdotal experience. (I looked for academic colleagues who also have high profiles)

The site offered a free trial subscription... BIG mistake. All my attempts to unsubscribe on the site are met with this message: "We were unable to complete your request at the moment. Please try again." I have been trying repeatedly for three days now - I always receive the same message. My emails on the "contact us" and "help" functions go unanswered.

Purchased a report for a number because they said the contact information was included. Received the report which contained nothing in it and then they gave excuses why nothing was in it. Instead of admitting beforehand they had nothing, the company purposefully lies to people to get their money and gives blanket reports.
Consumer Affairs gets paid to lay about the ratings and ignores all the true reviews.

Not only does it charge you extra by pulling the old bait and switch, but when I asked for a refund I was told I could only receive half of my money back. I'm sure they make a killing off this trick.
Even if you do read the fine print the site isn't worth it. Once you get access you quickly realize that you have to pay even more to get what you thought was basic access.
BTW, you can have your own information taken off this crappy site but clicking "privacy" on the bottom of the page.
Also, I better not receive a reply from one Spokeo's minions. If you were really sorry you would give me a full refund.

The reason you may have only been offered half of your money back could have been because the service was used extensively. We have a 100% guarantee on your first search, had you called after being unsatisfied with that first search you would have received a full refund. There are no additional charges to perform searches as you pay for the full subscription term up front as is indicated in the terms of use.
We also do take privacy very seriously as all websites such as ours should. The information that we gather is from public records and only public records. If you wish to have it removed please let us know and we would be more than happy to assist you with that. Be aware however, that since the information is public records and does not originate from our website, the information will still be out there easily accessible by other means.

They are truly poor. They have bad people lure you into some deal or just rob other sites of your personal information. It seems they dump their information into a computer that searches for everybody with the name you give them, then give you the wrong one, even if your checking it and asking about yourself. I gleaned this from their many negative reports and my experiences with a similar finder company.

I used this company once to look for an email address for a former teacher of mine. I paid 0.95 or something like that and the info they provided was useless. I did not know I was then enrolled at $24.95 ongoing membership which was removed from my bank account. I have just cancelled, but it remains to be seen if the $24.95 charge is refunded. I do not recommend this company.

Been using Spokeo on & off (mostly on) since 2010, and never had a problem. If I don't recognize an incoming phone number I check it on Spokeo. If I don't recognize the the name, or there is no name listed, and they don't leave a message, I will not answer the call. It's been very helpful at screening out spam and cold calls. Saved me a lot of wasted time. It's definitely worth the $15 per quarter for the information it provides.

Quite disgusted with your service first of all. When you say something is refundable in the purchase, it better be refundable. Instead I had to start pulling the contract and getting my lawyers involved.
You guys need to get with it cause someone will rip you down.
You have far less info than I've seen with anyone else so far. You nickel and dime the consumer to death. Every search is an add on and then when you say you'll refund someone you try to skimp out on the full refund. Gross

Look, it is not cheap if you want to access everything, however! This site helped me check the background of dates and check back on phone calls and even find some friends I hadn't spoken too and was able to figure out how to get a hold of them. It may not work the same for you, but it does provide honest information!

Answer: Watch for the $20 charge at the end of the month. They say a person is out, then the charge comes a month later. Had to cancel my card and get new # to keep them out of my wallet.
Answer: Three alternatives: 1) Logon with you old Spokeo account and contact customer support. 2) If you can't remember your old logon, 2.1) try a google search to find Spokeo customer service link or telephone number. 2.2) Spokeo has notes on some reviews. Maybe they have included their support number or link? 3) Call Visa and ask them to kill the Spokeo charges to your Visa account.

Answer: I cancelled Spokeo service due to selling me misinformation or inaccurate information. I got this in writing from David at Spokeo. They are good about sending a letter about we are sorry about not meeting your expectations. Our terms of use states we can do this blah blah blah. After I cancelled this subscription and got this in writing from David, I got a new debit card from my bank. Spokeo found the NEW CARD and charged it. I took the problem to my bank and got a credit. Be very careful of these people, watch your bank statements.
