I used this service. I was provided with useful information. However, the way the billing read, I was signing up for a one time service, not a subscription. Nonetheless, I was billed twice more and my credit card did not protect me. When I tried to cancel, I could not get logged on to cancel. Moreover, despite Spokeo indicating that I would receive an email to reset my password, these emails never came. The customer service ultimately connected and I received a partial refund for one of the two months billed. Yes, a case could be made that I did not pay close enough attention to the "Free 7 - day trial" which then gets billed monthly if you do not cancel. However, this is strikes me as a shady practice and I encourage any user of this service to use it with wide open eyes.

I picked Spokeo while trying to locate a number for the friend of an out-of-state relative I was not able to reach by the cell and home numbers I had. The service was easy to use and I got the number I needed to reach her. Spokeo was running a ~$1 one-week trial, so I was willing to give it a try. When I called to cancel the one-week trial, to avoid the ~$25/month current pricing, the CSR I spoke to was very helpful and straightforward. He offered to extend the subscription for ~$10/month for one-month with pre-cancellation. Because of this--meaning, because they were above-board and did not attempt to rope me into an extended service I do not need--I will use the service to look up some contact information in my remaining month, and would strongly consider using them in the future if I had search needs.

I paid 95 cents for a limited 7 day trial offer. The information they gave me was totally $#*!ing WRONG. That was three or four days ago. Today I received a notice from my bank that they attempted to charge my credit card 24.95 for a year long membership that I NEVER $#*!ING AUTHORIZED! They are good about sending a letter about we are sorry about not meeting your expectations. Our terms of use states we can do this blah blah blah. After I cancelled this subscription and got this in writing from David, I got a new debit card from my bank. Spokeo found the NEW CARD and charged it. I took the problem to my bank and got a credit. Be very careful of these people, watch your bank statements.
