I graduated from TCU in 1967 and lost track of my roommate... but knew he was from Houston Area... nothing worked so I tried this service just for kicks... they found his name in Florida, his last street address there and eventually found his real estate broker who knew him well and gave me his phone number. All in about 30 minutes.
I then cancelled my one time service which was not a problem at all... gal on phone was delightful and I would use them again for sure. Bob
Used their service to look up 1 number that was harrassing my daughter... the number came back with a fake name and now other usable info... Was also not aware that I would start a $30 a month subscription after 7 days! Contacted them within a few hours of seeing the charge come through and was told I could only get a refund for $11.

I found out everything I needed to know & our son got to talk to him and he also went to live with him for a month. That was all our son could take of his dad. Hi I'm extremely annoyed as I bought a three month subscription and understood that provided I cancelled it before the 3 month subscription period had expired the subscription would cease. This was due to occur in March 2013. I note however that Spokeo has continued to deduct money from my credit card after this date? I'm at a loss as to understand why I've continued to be charged and having done a little more research on the web it seems like I have to cancel my credit card in order to avoid paying fees that I shouldn't be anyway... surely this is something that Spokeo monitors and ensures they don't overcharge their customers! One wonders how much money Spokeo rakes in as a result of this gross ineptitude! Come clean and fix this error for me and others who have experienced this issue - don't let it drag on unnecessarily! I read the terms and conditions, signed up for $0.85 trial. I verified information given to me and canceled. Erica in customer service emailed me a confirmation of cancellation and confirmation my credit card would not be billed further. Couldn't have been easier!

Had them taking payments from my account without authorisation. My bank called them with me on the line. Promised to refund last 2 payments and stop taking payments. That was December 2015. Never got the refunds and on 03/29/16 they took a further payment. Bank is dealing with them as I type. Unprofessional company that gets as close to criminal as you can without being prosecuted

Don't waste your time with this crap. I wanted information for just one telephone number and got screwed. The number I searched came up with 'info available' in every field, but as soon as I paid for the report there wasn't one single field that didn't say 'information not available'. I complained, and was told by Ethan H. In customer support told that their disclaimer absolves them from any responsibility to provide the information requested, even if the site says it is available. Don't believe all of the alleged endorsements on that site, because it SUCKS!

Spokeo continued deducting from my bank account after I canceled the service. They only refunded $9.98, although $25 was deducted. From the reviews, it seems this happens alot.
On a positive note, customer service was very polite and replied to all my inquiries in a timely manner.

It's such a crap, i paid 0.7 dollars for a 3days trial service or something, i am sure i didn't subscribe any other service, then after 2 months, it charges me 16 dollars secretly without even sending me an email, and the results you can get from them is totally useless, you can get everything they provide from google by yourself. And i found i am not the only one whose money got stolen by them, can't believe such crap from Stanford graduates. I wish i could give negative scores to them.

I paid the.$0.95 for a one time search on the 4th of Month. 8 days later I was checking my bank balance and low and behold there is a charge for $26.95 from Spokeo. I called and was told that they would cancel the recurring monthly charge.
Yes that helps me in the future but they will not refund my money now. I will be contacting my bank to see if they can help.
I told the service representative that it should be in writing where I paid the ninety-five cants that they have a monthly charge once you put in your credit card.
I never would have looked up the phone number.

Perhaps in my last review on Spokeo I didnt make it clear: Do not even sign up for a 99 cent search because once they have your financial information you are sucked in to never-ending charges without notification and hoops to jump through to get out. A Spokeo representative will try to defend or explain away such deceit but he cant explain away all the 1-star reviews calling Spokeo a SCAM! If so many people have had such a negative experience with Spokeo, including me, the problem is not with the reviewers, but with Spokeo itself.
The site is deceptive in their practices, period. Believe the negative reviews and dont fall for their hidden traps. It is a premier online scam!

Do not give Spokeo any financial information! Nothing is free and they ultimately charge you monthly payments without notification of any sort once they get your credit card number. No notification of renewal nothing except a monthly charge that is pretty well impossible to cancel.
Be aware: They write their own positive reviews, so heed the 1-star reviews that dominate their review page. Dont get caught up in their web of deceit like I did.
Signed up for the $24.95 plan but was charged over $50. I haven't even been a member for a full month. The site itself is cool (although some stuff is inaccurate and the social media profiles are a shot in the dark) but the way they run their business is not ethical.

Answer: Three alternatives: 1) Logon with you old Spokeo account and contact customer support. 2) If you can't remember your old logon, 2.1) try a google search to find Spokeo customer service link or telephone number. 2.2) Spokeo has notes on some reviews. Maybe they have included their support number or link? 3) Call Visa and ask them to kill the Spokeo charges to your Visa account.

Answer: I cancelled Spokeo service due to selling me misinformation or inaccurate information. I got this in writing from David at Spokeo. They are good about sending a letter about we are sorry about not meeting your expectations. Our terms of use states we can do this blah blah blah. After I cancelled this subscription and got this in writing from David, I got a new debit card from my bank. Spokeo found the NEW CARD and charged it. I took the problem to my bank and got a credit. Be very careful of these people, watch your bank statements.
