I had to pay 318 euros for a small broken plastic part that was inside the spare tire compartment, sixt Portugal, shame on them, you are rip offs, should be put out of business
People in return stole $1000.00 out of glove box of my returned car when I went right back to Orlando airport sixt return I was told there is a sign right there that says not responsible sorry wouldn't even ask the people vacuuming because he knew that they had already had it but it might have been the weed that was being smoked right there smelled strong, might not have been so bad if they wouldn't of started laughing at me but this is my first bad review about anything ever but not my last I will spend hours days and weeks leaving bad reviews on this company for I am horrified by the customer service. When I tried to talk to a live person on my way back took 45 minutes then got disconnected without a call back not sure why they asked for my phone number very worst treatment I have ever experienced
They are running a scam show. Never rent the car from them. They will deduct 1000 euros from your account without even giving any proper proof. They will loot you like anything.
Not happy with SIXT.
After a long over night and delayed flight from Toronto to Heathrow T2.
We were tired and not functioning at our best mentally.
We showed up to pick up our car that we booked and paid in full online.
Car not available. Peugeot 3008.
They asked me for my credit card, I don't have one as I don't need one. We paid for the car with my wife's card that we had with us.
They didn't want to honor the rental at all at this point.
(We have never had this happen with any other rental company).
They came up with a plan to put my wife on a second driver to use her card. (More money)
Then the up sell started.
Any other company I have ever dealt with if the booked car is not available they put you in the next up available car at no extra charge.
NOT SIXT. They almost had us in a Porche at £8000 (again tired not thinking strait just wanted to get some sleep)
Hour or so later.
Ended up with an Audi Q3 (Nice little car) at over twice what we originally paid online for a slightly smaller car we barely got our luggage in.
All was good untill we were returning the car.
At Heathrow most of the car returns are clearly marked. Not SIXT. GPS didn't help, so I just followed "other". Got to T5 when my Son spotted a small orange SIXT sign, so we followed that dropped off the car at T5 and took the train to T2.
Not our best experience renting a car, will not use SIXT again.

Ms Wilma has the best customer service out of all the other employee and great humor.Was very patient and trustworthy.
I booked a car through Priceline, but had to make a change one month before our planned trip. It was impossible to speak to a human being, and when I finally found an email address and requested a quote for a couple of options, it took customer service two days to respond, and they made changes to my booking without my authorization and at a much higher price than other car rentals! On top of that, they communicated that any change to that new booking would not be refunded! And if I wished to cancel the booking, I would have to pay $100 cancellation fee, even though no cancellation fee was indicated in the original booking! I spent several other emails, but their responses were always the same. Worst customer service and never again!
I wont be going into details too much, but cut the story short, they have added extras to my agreement without my knowledge costing me £200! This business model of this company is unethical, they are scammers and thief's.Keep away from them. Does anyone have an email address for their complaint department?
Completely unethical company. Extorted damage charges from me that I did not cause and could not address because they failed to give me a full pre rental damage report before leaving the property. Charges for repair inflated, add-on's like value depreciation and admin fees added, but worst off they refused to give me a claims manager (in authority) name and direct contact to deal with. They hide behind their processes. Not to mention they charged me a cancellation fee because they were unable to change a reservation after a flight was cancelled, so I had to cancel and make a new reservation at a cost of an additional $100. Don't use them, they are completely unethical.
Rented a car for our trip to Croatia from Sixt. I was charged for my package before I left. On returning I was charged again for my rental days, and $450 worth of charges I did not agree to or authorize. No signature page is evident in my paperwork. They have your credit card and use it fraudulently. Never use this company! I wouldn't trust them with anything!
I rented a car from Sixt in Ireland in May / June 2023. Against my better judgement I took the extra insurance so it cost twice what I reserved. Brought the car back a day early, which they acknowledge, but they refuse to charge me only for the time I had the car, so I am out 52 Euro. And customer support essentially told me to F off!
I rented a car from Sixt in Amsterdam. This was the worst rental experience I've ever had. I was slightly late (most rental time reservations are done for pricing purposes) because a wrong location was online. I needed 2 Ubers to get there. As a result, they rented my car to someone else, and charged me more for an upgrade. The return was worse. They use a public garage for returns, and the 1 elevator was broken. I had to carry my luggage and huge laundry bag up 5 flights of stairs. I'm almost 65 and just had 1/3 of a lung removed. And the bill is higher than I signed for. Never again!
Sixt Slovenia uses deceptive business practices. They omit existing damage on vehicle records and if you miss the damage during an initial inspection they charge you for the damage after your rental period. I will never use this company again and warn others not to use them.
We rented the car at Faro airport and returned to the Sixt office in Lisbon. Thanks to the reviews I read here, we took lots of pictures and videos of car condition. The first car we refused as it had more knicks on front and side glass than I could possibly count. The second one had 24! Described damages, but we had to take it, as time was pressing us.
Upon return, the clerk assured us that everything was fine and showed something on the screen to confirm that. It had the wrong e-mail address for me, so I had to correct it. 1 week later, my credit card was charged 50 Euros for...fuel refill! We refilled the car 10km from the office, so the charge was a pure extortion. I initiated the chargeback with my credit card company and expect the 50 Euros refund in the near future.
I'll share my experience on every review site I can find and will make a formal complaint with EU Rental Company regulators at ECRCS (Google the url)

The young lady at Sixt was Shayna C. She made me feel at easy after having a very scary commute. It was my first time traveling by myself. I had a family member to pass in Los Angeles so after i arrived at the airport the shuttle bus picked me up and this is when I meet Shayna. She was so friendly as well as professional. She reassured me that even if was a little late, I would be taken care off, I would not be left without transportation in this big city. As reassuring as she was I felt I could relax and I did. Within a few minutes she had done just what she promised. It was the start of a horrible trip to turn into a trip I was remember as well as make sure I use Sixt's rental car service from now on...Thank You Shayna C.
In my decades of car rental, I never had been treated so aggressively. The sales agent at Newark airport, Paul, was using extremely high pressure tactics to get me to add on insurance, toll services, prepaid gas, etc. He was even telling me he was going to add them. Then he used the pressure tactic that I only had 5 minutes to leave the lot because at midnight they were closing the gate and I wouldn't be able to leave until 6am. I called SIXT customer service the next day and told them all of this and was promised a callback, which I never got. In the end I had a $450 rental bill for a 2 DAY rental!
These people are awful. I called back again, and it is the typical cue card response. They just want as much of your money as they can grab. I cannot warn you all enough to stay away from SIXT.
The customer service and support has no interest in keeping customers. Very difficult to speak with anyone, than they tell you to Email problems and they respond with boilerplate answers. Nothing to try to resolve the core issues!
I rented a vehicle from this company in april. When we arrived the car they promised was not available so they switched us into another one. When we went out to get the vehicle it was scratched all over. There was no one around to walk around with us so I took pictures. After we return the vehicle a couple weeks later I got a bill for $800 for damage. I sent them the date stamp pictures with the damage. They are still billing me. They are unethical do not rent from them. Just read the reviews.
I would give a negative 0 no stars if I could! I rented a vehicle from Sixt, upon getting to a gas station saw that there was a huge bubble on the side of my tire. I called them because I didn't want yo have a blow out. I found a receipt in the glove box of previous damage and a tire repair. This tire didn't match any others on the vehicle and was an outdated, used tire. A tow truck had to bring me a new vehicle. 6 months later I receive a bill asking me to pay 2,000 for towing and damage done. I have AAA and would have never called them had I known I would be billed for this. I sent proof, video and pictures of the tire proving that it was this way at time of rental. They wrote off the towing but want me to pay for a $212 for a tire that I did NOT damage. After one month of going back and forth they sent me to collections for $212. I will NEVER rent from them again nor will I ever recommend any one else to rent from them.
I rented a car from SIXT in Italy, Milan. After a month of renting they deduct 37 euros for an alleged traffic voilation, after another month they deduct the same value again. After a year, they send me an email asking me to pay the 37, and then when I refused, they are asking for 340 euros. DO NOT RENT FROM SIXT!
My terrible experience with DoYouSpain.com opened the door to the opposite experience with Sixt Rental Cars. After being refused a rental by DoYouSpain's partner, Goldcar, I went to the adjacent window at the Tenerife airport. The staff at Sixt Rental Cars was friendly and warm and rented me a car with no problem. There's a Sixt Rental Cars near my Porto, Portugal home. I have rented cars from them three times, with the same friendly, thorough, polite, professional interaction and clean cars in impeccable condition. I highly recommend Sixt Rental Cars.
