If I could give -5 stars I would. Said I had damaged vehicle when I returned with no damage. Had my wife's name as second driver and somehow they said she was the main driver. Got a letter from collections. Please DONT use this scam car rental company. Just look at other reviews if you don't believe me. Good luck!
Completely unethical company. Extorted damage charges from me that I did not cause and could not address because they failed to give me a full pre rental damage report before leaving the property. Charges for repair inflated, add-on's like value depreciation and admin fees added, but worst off they refused to give me a claims manager (in authority) name and direct contact to deal with. They hide behind their processes. Not to mention they charged me a cancellation fee because they were unable to change a reservation after a flight was cancelled, so I had to cancel and make a new reservation at a cost of an additional $100. Don't use them, they are completely unethical.
Beware! - Sixt are a bunch of thieves. We used them for a holiday in Denmark last week. After returning to the UK they issued us with a £274 bill for a small chip to the windscreen, which had already been pointed out prior to departure. I wrote to them to complain, I didn't receive a reply and they simply went ahead and charged my credit card for the unauthorized fee. My wife and I are appalled at their customer service and won't ever be using Sixt again. There must surely be much better and more honest car hire companies out there. I would give them 0 stars if I could.
It is impossible to speak with customer service. I paid for a rental car well in advance and needed to cancel. When I did (with 4 months notice!) SIXT kept 20% of my payment in full. In an email exchange, they absolutely refused to refund the $100. This is not how rental cars typically work or should work. Watch out!
We rented a car with sixt thru priceline months in advance to travel out of state. Upon arriving we received a text with a phone number to call for p/u at the airport. After calling several times... they were closed and we were stuck! WE had to rent a car w/another rental company@ much cost. Now we are told that we will not receive a refund even though we did not use their car. Not any way to do business... never again! Buyer be ware, zero rating!
The fine print indicates you pre pay for rental, whether you use it or not. Also, they double charges on you if you cancel anytime after booking reservation made. There is zero grace period. I reserved a car and about six hours later tried to cancel it and found out all of this crap. This is shady as hell. They consider rentals a "good" and not service. Not good. Stay away. Cancel card you used to make reservation and get new one issued. Don't trust this site.
Make sure you go over the car with a fine tooth comb before leaving the lot with car. Be prepared to get down on your hands and knees. Note every scratch or nick. This may be difficult if its dark but it is necessary if you want to avoid being billed for EXISTING damage. Also if you are accused of any damage and want to utilize the coverage provided by your credit card note that some card services require you notify them within 60 days. Sixt may not notify you of damage until after 60 days of the original rental period thus rendering your card's coverage useless.
I scheduled a cruise for July 2020. Who knew there would be a pandemic. I also wanted to rent a car while visiting Seattle pre-cruise. I paid for my car through Sixt. Now, no matter which way I try, I can't seem to get a refund. Everybody else - all hotels, cruise line, airline have refunded. Not this company. My next stop is the Attorney General for Consumer Affairs. Don't know what else to do. Next time, I'll use Hertz.
Sixt double charged us for our rental. We were charged on 2 different cards. It has been over a 10 days and we are yet to get either the deposit back or the money for the 2nd charge of the fee. Sixt are absolute scoundrels. They ruined our budget for our trip by not releasing the deposit when we had returned the car even though we had taken the premium insurance option. There was no need for Sixt to keep the deposit after we returned it. This company is reprehensible and I would discourage anyone from ever using them.
Sixt service desk employee was very nice but ignored our online invoice and completely overcharged us again on a new invoice. We are at a loss of 543.00. We are going to let our credit card company handle it. Sounds like they do this bait and switch scam a lot!
I returned the car hands in the hands of their employees. Upon return he thoroughly checked the car and didn't mention a word about any damages. Three days later I received an invoice for $450 claiming scratches has been found on the car.
Try to avoid this company if possible
Rented a car for our trip to Croatia from Sixt. I was charged for my package before I left. On returning I was charged again for my rental days, and $450 worth of charges I did not agree to or authorize. No signature page is evident in my paperwork. They have your credit card and use it fraudulently. Never use this company! I wouldn't trust them with anything!
I rented a car from Sixt in Amsterdam. This was the worst rental experience I've ever had. I was slightly late (most rental time reservations are done for pricing purposes) because a wrong location was online. I needed 2 Ubers to get there. As a result, they rented my car to someone else, and charged me more for an upgrade. The return was worse. They use a public garage for returns, and the 1 elevator was broken. I had to carry my luggage and huge laundry bag up 5 flights of stairs. I'm almost 65 and just had 1/3 of a lung removed. And the bill is higher than I signed for. Never again!
Bad site, ok service and the car I rented in Budapest Airport was 2 years old, not that bad.
Took them 2 weeks and numerous phone calls by me to release the guarantee money from my card.
By comparison, Avis is better.
They will charge you for any mark they find. Barely visible scratch most likely from a tree branch; mark from seatbelt getting caught in door; mark on bumper from suitcase. There is no such thing as normal wear and tear. If you do rent from them make sure you get collision coverage because my normal car insurance will not cover such small things but the crap they sell you will.
My flight was delayed about half an hour and Arrived at Tampa Florida international airport at 11:44 pm. Got to sixt car rental kiosk around 12:15 am and no body was there. Contacted sixt customer service and was told the place was closed (It's ridiculous for a car rental at the airport doesn't open 24/24) and not thing that they can help. So then I would like to cancel the rental but the customer service representative did not mention there's no refund if we cancel the reservation ( over $1600 prepaid reservation). Next day I got the email from sixt saying there is no refund because I canceled the reservation after scheduled pick up time. I was not the only one there on that night. Sixt business is a scam. Unpleasant vacation trip. Thinking about class action against Sixt
I have never before encountered a business that flat-out steals money... until now! I prepaid for my car when I arrived in Tampa to pick up my car I have them my combo debit/credit card which had $6,000 in my account. They said they could not accept it because it must be a regular credit card which was never made clear. I said "Fine just return my money" They refused my refund even though they provided no service. I appealed several times without getting anywhere. Stay as far away from this crooked sketchy business as you can.
We had paid almost 1000$ online to hire a car from Sixt, we picked up the car from Orlando Airport.My husband clearly said he wanted no extras, the agreement was online on a computer which was 4 pages long…my husband had to sign on the screen. No bill was shown to him at anytime…We hire cars from Orlando airport twice a year so we know what we are doing. This company Sixt took almost another 1000$ from our credit card company when we got home in the UK.They are crooks, avoid Sixt. We have tried to get our money back for the insurance we did not ask for.We will never use them again…Beware of hidden charges
I'll never rent from Sixt again! We showed up in Hawaii to get our vehicles to be told that one had been in a wreck. They tried to offer us replacements that wouldn't hold the amount of people and luggage that we had! So we had to fork over another $750 and were assured by the customer service rep that we should get that money back. Not so! Not only did Sixt keep the $750 extra, they charged us another $500-$600 after we got home! I'm beyond disgusted with this company. I will NEVER rent from them again, and I discourage anyone else from being duped by them as well!
I booked a car through Priceline, but had to make a change one month before our planned trip. It was impossible to speak to a human being, and when I finally found an email address and requested a quote for a couple of options, it took customer service two days to respond, and they made changes to my booking without my authorization and at a much higher price than other car rentals! On top of that, they communicated that any change to that new booking would not be refunded! And if I wished to cancel the booking, I would have to pay $100 cancellation fee, even though no cancellation fee was indicated in the original booking! I spent several other emails, but their responses were always the same. Worst customer service and never again!
