I've had two of three interviews ghost me so far and I had a membership less then a week. I'm talking people who scheduled a time to talk about a nanny position and their phone was literally off when I called. It makes me wonder if these are like scammers and not people looking for jobs, it's very strange. I wish I could get my money back, I'm going to try a different site and wish I never paid for this.
I have been on sitter city for years. I at first haven't had any problems. 1. Lots of scammers on the site. 2. They literally flag your profile if you paid for a background check just over a paid traffic ticket like 6 years ago. They don't even let the other families see the report to see it's just a traffic ticket. They literally just put on your profile you didn't pass a background check and make it look like your some type of criminal it's ridiculous! All because of this make it harder to get jobs. They need to change their site!

I love Sittercity. Over the years they have been responsive to each customer support inquiry I've made which is very important. They do their best to help check things out for both job seekers and those looking to hire. There are opportunities for everyone on Sittercity. Well-maintained and classy website.
Hi Annmarie, thank you for taking the time to leave your feedback! We are happy to see you are enjoying Sittercity!
I have applied to over 20 ads for babysitters within the last 3 months. Not one single person has ever responded. That's not realistic. This site seems to be a real scam. I emailed and asked what's going on...was told oh you just have to answer as many postings as possible. Not when half of these postings are " supposedly" within 10 miles of me, have I not gotten at least 2-3 replies! Complete waste of time!

In 2013, I opened an account to find a nanny for my children, I have the job posted for maybe two weeks, and posted the job. Thought that with an non-active job that I wouldn't be billed for 10 years. Part of it is my fault for not checking, but the only communication I have record of from them is in 2013. Every single time they billed me they never sent me a follow up email or invoice. This is the worst company, they will do nothing to refund my money it's just a scheme to make money without doing anything.

We joined SittyCity and posted about our babysitting needs. We had 18 applications sent to us over the course of 1.5 months. We responded to just about all of them, with only a handful getting back to us. We had 6 girls that seemed pretty serious about helping our family out. All 6 of them just gave us the run around. Multiple times interviews were cancelled last minute from ALL of them. Some even insisted on doing an in-person interview as opposed to a Zoom meeting, and would cancel last minute. ALL of them had a "I feel sick today" excuse. I understand things come up, but seems pretty fishy that 6 times, the SAME song and dance took place. We also are getting more spam phone calls now that we gave girls our personal phone number for more immediate contact. This site might be "legit" but they don't filter ANYONE out. The people on here are all scammers looking for more personal information about you. DO NOT SIGN UP!

I had a sitter city account. I didn't use it for several years. I called them several times because my passwords never saved. Now I was removed for over use of messages. Is it my fault what the tell me to do didn't work? I only have a cell phone. Very unhappy this removed me forever.

Do not use this service. Even when you cancel the company keeps charging your card. I've tried reaching support multiple times for a resolution and never get a response. I haven't used this company in 3 years and this is the 3rd time they have charged my card for the premium service of $144, even after deactivating.

The company charged me for 1 year of service with no notification and will not refund it even though I will not use the service. This is unethical practice and I recommend anyone thinking of using them stay away.

Sittercity was a huge waste of my time. I only had a nanny for 3 months and all because I forgot to ask my daughter's aftercare person about being open for Thanksgiving week. She doesn't want to keep my daughter for me anymore or take her to school, on Mondays and Tuesdays anymore. This is the second time that this nanny has done me like this. Sittercity is a disaster and now I am on my own finding someone else to watch my daughter. I am starting Prime Month in a few days and starting my 2nd job today.

I was removed from sitter city for apparently no reason I worked for this lady for four months and she decided one day after four months not to pay me that is not cool. She contacted Cedar city and had me removed when I contacted Cedar city and I told them that she didn't pay me, and that she was bipolar. She was taking anti-depressants sitter city did nothing about it but meanwhile, this lady looked for a babysitter, every three months I'm a hard-working, trustworthy person. Why am I getting this treatment?sitter city just doesn't care, they do not deserve any stars, but there's no option for

I applied for work and hadn't submitted an i.d. for several days, meanwhile I was able to log in to my profile during that time until I finally submitted my I.d. when all of a sudden I wasn't able to log in to my account. My legal team will definitely follow up with this because this is outrageous!

Every and I mean every potential I have chatted with has agreed to meet up. I plan the day according to this so called interview, my boyfriend has even gotten off early to be ready and prepared to have the so called "sitter" either not show up at all, claim they couldn't get off their other job, or some other b.s.story after the 6th cancelation by the potentials I literally googled; whether, this site was actually legit. I don't believe it is. They get my 39.00 a mos and have yet to ever meet anyone from this site. Definitely done with it. You're not getting another penny from me!

I signed up for their one month plan in August. Considering they give the option of 1 month, 3 month and 1 year, the scam they are running is getting people to choose the one month option and then auto billing them. They then refuse refunds and claim it was clearly stated. I purposely went with this site because it didn't have a recurring fee and now I've been charged for 6 months of a service I didn't intend on using. I am planning on reaching out to the better business bureau on Monday. Ridiculous.
Hi Alissa, thank you for taking the time to leave your feedback. I'm sorry to hear about your disappointment with your membership on Sittercity. When you reached out to us, we were able to issue you a refund for the most recent charge and explained the following; all of our Premium Membership plans are subscription-based. Once the subscription is upgraded to our Premium membership, it automatically renews unless canceled and is non-refundable, as stated on the plan selection page, purchase page, on your receipt, and in our Terms of Use (https://www.sittercity.com/terms). We’ve found that most families prefer to have ongoing access to message local sitters. Members have the option to cancel at any time through their Account Settings or by calling, chatting, or emailing our Customer Success team. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause and hope for your understanding.
Please don't be like me and several others. Create alarms, personal reminders, notifications about your subscription. They will never send you emails about renewal or monthly billing.
I used the site for a few days. Sent an a few messages to get quotes. After that I never logged in again. Only to realize that they've been taking almost $50 a month for over a year.
They won't compromise with you. You're essentially giving them money for free and they won't refund even though they know you have small children and came to them when in need. They will go on and on about your activity (or lack thereof) not having any impact on whether or not they refund you.
I think this is their secret business model. I will be investigating more and will seek legal assistance because I feel scammed out of money.
Please double and triple check you're being charged for the correct subscription and end it immediately. They keep your card on file so hopefully they don't continue to access it afterwards.
PRO TIP: If you decide to move forward with a paid subscription, use a card/bank account that has a limited amount of funds OR use a gift card. This will help to prevent them from taking money in the event that you don't cancel in time.

Very limited selection of care providers. Got just two responses for the job posting. Idle for 3 next 85 days. Auto renew without any notification. I called 30 min after auto renewal made to my credit card, would not waive. Spent $140 for 2 responses that didn't workout. Customer service keeps referring to the auto-renewal policy No exceptions. Care.com worked much better for me.
We're very sorry to hear that you have not had success while using our site. Because Sittercity is simply an online meeting venue for families to connect with independent sitters in their area, we cannot provide any guarantees.
The sitters on the site are not our employees and they independently network on our site. Depending on the location and timing, sitters can be more or less active and it's ultimately up to each individual sitter to decide whether or not they would like to respond. However, we absolutely do stress the importance of (timely) responsiveness and professionalism to all of the sitters on the site.
It was extremely difficult to use & find a sitter. Although I set criteria, sitters would message me and apply for the job but require completely different salaries. It was a complete waste of time. Better luck with Bambino, Urban Sitter, or even Nextdoor. They must bank on automatically renewing subscriptions and parents forgetting to cancel. Customer service was bad

Signed up for Sittercity for three months for a Premium membership. Found out only through my bank that they'd renewed my membership and charged me for three additional months at the end of the initial three month period. They never sent any notification that they'd be charging me again.
In case Sittercity reads this, please don't bother responding with the standard "All of our Premium Membership plans are subscription based and automatically renew..." message. It's ridiculous that you repeat this message when the more obviously correct response should be to stop automatically renewing or at minimum notify members of impending renewals (as most other subscription services do). There's a reason your ratings on this and other review sites are so low.
Hi Greg, thank you for reaching out to us and we are sorry to hear about your disappointment in your membership subscription. Our Premium Membership subscription plans automatically renew unless canceled in order to avoid disruptions, as we’ve found that most families prefer to have ongoing access to message local sitters. Notification of renewals are sent to members based on what is required state by state. We wish you luck with your child care search and are here in the future if needed.
Signed up for a three month package. Kept getting charged afterwards yet did not receive any notifications that I was getting charged. Contacted customer service to request a refund and they refused. I see there are many other similar experiences here.
Hi Steve, thank you for taking the time to leave your feedback. I'm sorry to hear about your disappointment with your membership on Sittercity. All of our Premium Membership plans are subscription based and automatically renew unless canceled, as stated on the sign-up page, on your receipt, and in our Terms of Use. Members have the option to cancel at any time through their Account Settings or by calling, chatting, or emailing our Customer Success team. We understand that life is busy and it can be easy to overlook our auto-renew policy. We routinely review our communications, and your feedback is very helpful as we look to reduce the potential for confusion.
I think Sittercity is a great service overall. I was a bit hesitant about letting a stranger in my house to watch my most precious aspects of my life! I felt comforted when I saw so many sitters in my area and the safety "badges" that get assigned to each sitter (for things like CPR and first aid training). I learned about the sign up process from this tutorial about the site who i guess is a nurse and had a similar experience to me. Good luck out there and make sure you interview your sitter closely and always get a background check!
Hi Austin, thanks so much for your feedback! We're happy to hear you had a good experience using Sittercity and the features we provide to help families find the right care giver!

Answer: Well I would be very careful if you haven't met the family or even meeting a family online or from craigslist. It best to work for a reputable agency that knows the clients, has their information and credit card on file. There are lots of scams going around.
Answer: Who knows if they even actually do the background check. Probably another way to make money off of people.
Answer: Yes, they keep billing even though I cancelled my subscription.
Sittercity has a rating of 1.3 stars from 146 reviews, indicating that most customers are generally dissatisfied with their purchases. Reviewers dissatisfied with Sittercity most frequently mention customer service, background check and credit card. Sittercity ranks 54th among Childcare sites.
