Signed up for a three month package. Kept getting charged afterwards yet did not receive any notifications that I was getting charged. Contacted customer service to request a refund and they refused. I see there are many other similar experiences here.
I think Sittercity is a great service overall. I was a bit hesitant about letting a stranger in my house to watch my most precious aspects of my life! I felt comforted when I saw so many sitters in my area and the safety "badges" that get assigned to each sitter (for things like CPR and first aid training). I learned about the sign up process from this tutorial about the site who i guess is a nurse and had a similar experience to me. Good luck out there and make sure you interview your sitter closely and always get a background check!

This organization should be ashamed. I cancelled my membership but it continued to auto renew. When I called in to cancel they would not issue a full refund. I asked to speak with the head of customer support they refused. Terrible treatment and fraudulent behavior during a pandemic.

Sittercity got me the job I currently have now, so from that perspective I really can't complain. Since I acquired that job, I've had 5 other people reach out to me asking for my services which was awesome! I will say though, before all that, I applied to about 4 jobs and never got a response. I feel that you almost have to wait for a parent to reach out to you instead of applying for the job yourself which sounds a little backwards but that was my experience. Babysitters and nannies are in high demand right now, so don't sell yourself short by asking for only 8-10 dollars an hour. You're worth more than that, and most parents on Sittercity offer more than that :) Also, there are several posts on Sittercity that ask for you to be CPR certified. They are usually higher paying jobs so I'd recommend getting it done! I did it and it was just 4 hours of an evening. I think that wraps it up. Sittercity is really a great service! Give it a try :)

I had an account with Care.com but I decided to try SitterCity and I was overwhelmed with the responses I received. Presently I'm working with a family that I'm happy about. Some of the parents are looking for housekeeping, chef, dog walker, tutoring with a foreign language, babysitting and only want to pay less that $20.00 an hour. Many parents are taking advantage of vulnerable people who are desperate to work. I would advise anyone to make sure you have an agreement of do's and don't. Overall SitterCity is very good.

I have been with Sittercity for 7 yrs. I have never had any problems. Just my background check a little slow. I have excellent reviews from parents. I love that I can provide childcare to families and get to know the children I take care of. The company's specialist's always help me and are courteous and professional. Communication is key when working with families. So far so good! I will remain a Nanny/Babysitter on Sittercity!

Everyone is writing bad reviews because they paid for a membership & was auto billed... that's usually how it works though, so umm who's fault is this? I've only been on for a day and a half and was already contacted. Maybe your credentials just don't match what the family is looking for. Don't blame the site for auto billing subscriptions & calling the sitters here "fake" or "thugs". Some of us are real & passionate about helping people. If you get so worked up about not getting a call back, then I sure as sugar wouldn't want my child or parent in your care! Not even my dogs! Take a chill pill & just be patient. Good things come to those who wait & whatever doesn't work out just might not have been for you. Good luck!

The site appeared to be a great resource, I found a number of sitters that met my need. On paying for a subscription I contacted each of the listed sitters. None responded. Of the sitters that contacted me, none met my clearly stated condition (speaking a particular language). These were stale, fake listings, or sitters who did not read. This was not useful.

I believe that I didn't consent to auto renewal when I signed up. They charged me more money every month after the initial month. When I called customer service trying to get a refund of the auto renewal on the same date, no one answered the calls.

It disturbs me to read a review about babysitting from a 12 year old that is using an internet service to find work in a strangers household. (Look below on this page) I hope that the parent went with the 12 year old or the babies were dropped off at the 12 year old house with parental supervision. However after calling and inquiring about this, apparently minors as little as 12 can use this internet service without parental supervision as long as the parent of the minor checks off a disclaimer box. I AM NOT OK WITH THIS!

This site is very expensive and every "applicant" didn't even reach out to me themselves. There must be some algorithm that sends someone every week to make you think that you're getting interest because for weeks I would reach out to these "applicants" and would never hear back. I'd also get applicants from 100 miles away which is obviously not a viable option for a regular babysitter. Care.com is a much more reliable site and service. This one seems like a complete hoax. Also cancelling your subscription is extremely difficult to do through their website. For starters, they require you to log in from a desktop to begin the cancelation process. Thankfully I have an iPhone and was able to cancel it through settings/subscriptions. Don't get this app

Months after realizing that sittercity was continuing to charge my credit card, I sent them an email requesting that the charges be stopped and money refunded. Four months later, I'm still being charged. When I addressed it via online chat (because they don't answer phones on weekends), the rude agent on the other end essentially once again claims she closed my account and blamed me for not following up immediately after my first complaint to ensure the appropriate action had been taken. They know they've been charging me for years for absolutely no services. They have been asked multiple times to close my account and discontinue all charges. Beware of this service. They will take your money any way they can get it.

I think the site is a scam. I've been on there as a sitter for over two months, have applied to job after job (posted same day) with introductions and qualifications, and have received exactly zero responses from any of the posters. I would assume even one poster would take one minute out of their life to let a sitter know they've either found someone or don't need their services, but there is no response at all. Starting to doubt these "parents" are real.

If you are applying for jobs and haven't heard back from any families, know that there are many variables that can factor in after you apply for a job. The family may have already hired someone already, changed their requirements, or have a large number applicants to review. Like any job search, it can take some time to get a response. Once you submit an application, it is ultimately up to the family to reach out to you if they are interested in setting up an interview with you. However, we completely understand your frustration and are currently working on ways to encourage families to respond to applications, even if they have already moved on to other candidates. I have never had so many parents be so unprofessional on any site or agency I have ever worked for-people scheduling phone interviews or in person and just not showing with no message to cancel. Maybe its the anonymity of the whole site that makes parents think this is ok behavior, but its just plain rude. If you no longer need someone or have to reschedule-just email. Send a text. Call.

After multiple emails and phone calls we finally got through to someone who would not refund our money after an auto renewal that we caught just hours after it went through. Worst service. Do not use. Imagine what this means to the rest of their business model.

This feels as close to a scam as a legitimate business can be. The content promises just don't match up with the actual experience. Add the outrageous cost, terrible customer service, and impossible-to-use features and you have a losing combination. Save your money and time. There are better options available.

Be careful with this company when it comes to billing. They auto-renew your account without telling you for more than the initial approved charges. Apparently they state that your account will be auto-renewed somewhere in the fine print. They do not send you a confirmation or receipt indicating that you signed up for any type of auto renewal service and make it very difficult to avoid getting caught in their trap.
I emailed customer service the day the charge was place on my card and they refused to refund my money back, even though I had not used their services in 3 months.
Worst customer service ever and worst way to take your money. They have mastered the art of charging you for nothing. Care.com offers much better customer service and has a much more clear system for payments and auto renewals.

I had 2 girls here from sittercity. They allow just anyone to post that the have experience with kids. These girls didn't even talk to my kid had no idea how to play or interact with him.they just let anyone out there say they have all kinds of experience. And know nothing about children.i can't believe I paid for this.

Answer: Well I would be very careful if you haven't met the family or even meeting a family online or from craigslist. It best to work for a reputable agency that knows the clients, has their information and credit card on file. There are lots of scams going around.
