Website is broken

The only part of the website that worked great for me was the signup process when they take your credit card info. Everything else has been a nightmare. Broken links, when I receive a msg I click the link to open and it takes me to a 404 page. I tried to cancel my subscription and again, 404. So I tried calling, and their customer service is like calling someone you know - if they're not available, just try again later. No option to leave a VM even. Awful website. I find it frustrating that they give no refunds even if you can't use the service.

Ridiculous Service

I am a extremely experienced and qualified nanny/babysitter who has always received stellar reviews and recommendations from the families I have worked for. I ran a background check through sittercity and was banned from the site due to a minor traffic violation I received SEVEN years ago. Absolutely ridiculous. No wonder families have trouble finding good applicants. Luckily the families I had been in communication with before I was banned thought this was ridiculous as well and are still hiring me.

I really thought this app would help me with jobs but it sucks and the app sucks more than the website. It's boring and if you're a sitter you don't need to pay for your background check it's optional but I really wanted to get mine checked but asked if I needed a social security and they said yes and closed my account for no reason while other people still remain with no background checks and have their accounts open. Not fair. And if moms want to get a hold of you they have to pay to message you. I'd rather leave my number on bulletin boards outsides of stores or laundry rooms than create a new account. Don't waste your time

I do apologize for any inconvenience, but there is no way to continue creating an account without first meeting these criteria.

The company charge my credit card continuously even though I only chose one month subscription. Most helpers do not keep their words. Did not land one helper via the website.

It is a useless site

We joined sittercity and paid the subscription fee of $40/ month in order to find a nanny. Many of the sitters either didn't respond, said they were no longer working as sitters, or were booked up completely. Our description of the ideal candidate was detailed with thorough info and I don't think we asked too much. We were also flexible with pay. Basically the site is outdated and doesn't do a great job with matches. We spoke with support and they were rude, curt, and basically said we were paying just to be on the site but they didn't offer any inclination that we would be successful. No value found and with the crappy customer service it was a no brainer that we cut this service so quick. We wanted a refund- but I guess that isn't possible. They lost our business.

I have worked in child care in several different settings for 4 years now and also currently work for another family through Care.com but thought Id find another family through SitterCity once this family no longer needed me. Having done multiple background checks before for schools and Care.com I thought this would be no problem. Well boy was I wrong, they not only denied me a badge but also revoked my membership and wont give me a reason why and wont reimburse me for the nearly $50 background check that they said came back with problems. Funny considering I have a clean driving record and have a clean criminal background. This site is a scam, go to Care.com.

Price gouging
November 19, 2018

If they determine, by some mysterious method, that you are advertising for a business and not personally they up your rate from 98.00 per month to 150.00 per month! Even if that were the case they won't keep any business gouging like that! The would be much better served by a modest increase not by gouging businesses. Also have seen some pretty awful things happen lately on Sitter City that have been on the news!

The platform takes basically zero responsibilities for quality of sitters and/or background checks. You pay for a year-long membership but may only be on the platform for a week. No refunds either. Buyer beware!

We prefer Care.com. Many more applicants and easier to search. We never met anyone, much less hired them, from Sittercity.
Sittercity charges you a monthly fee of $35, never emailing you to tell you you are going to be charged, so if you don't cancel, you will get a monthly charge on your credit card with no notice from Sittercity. It should be illegal to charge a monthly fee without an email from Sittercity with a statement. I requested a refund, and they gave me back a third of what they charged me. Very disappointing.

All of our Premium Membership subscription plans automatically renew unless canceled in order to avoid disruptions, as we’ve found that most families prefer to have ongoing access to message local sitters. Not good nannies

Nannies in sittercities are generally way worse than care.com
No basic background check to join the site as a nanny/or sitter.
People don't respond, no show up for an interview/ no reference.
I paid ~150$ for 3 months and I wasted not only money but also time.

Stay away from sitterysity, Care.com is much better when it comes to customer support and Nannies available. I had horrible experience, first of you send 100 emails taking paid subscription and none of them respond to your post.

Cheat company, wants to make money off of peoples mistakes. Thugs as well, don't want to refund even when I called them 2 hours later after registering saying I was looking for nanny lane and you spammed me into thinking you are nanny lane. These guys guaranteed themselves bad reviews and a credit card dispute and loss of credibility. All for mere $35.

Scam

Sittercity.com is a horrible website who preys on young families. They do not make their subscription renewal fair and the process to obtain any of your money back is very difficult. Not worth your time or money do not support them.

Don't waste your time

Customer Service, Specifically Jessica G, is no help. Take note of alllllll these reviews of sitters who have done an amazing job and got bamboozled by SitterCity. Silly that a background check is a more important way to authenticate a person rather than an ID, social card, or 5 star reviews. Such stressful customer service and situations. 10/10 would not recommend

In 2013, we needed a backup to our regular sitter and used the service once. It's now 2021 and discovered they have been charging fees ever since, $2240 over that time! The fine print of their contract allows them to start charging a quarterly fee on an auto renewal and if I hadn't questioned my wife why we are still paying for babysitting years after needing the service, they would have kept charging us in perpetuity. Biggest Scam I've ever seen. Never once did they both to ask why we are paying for a service we don't use. Totally disreputable.

Just like a gym membership or a Netflix subscription, all of our Premium Membership subscription plans automatically renew unless canceled, as we’ve found that most families prefer to have ongoing access to message, interview and book local sitters. Please stay away and don't waste your time applying for nanny, caregiver or any jobs at this site, because it is built by a Scam organization! Notice that you are required to give money in order to get a job on their site, this is the first Red Flag that it is a Scam! They have also recently posted a fake website to defend their reputation, but in going there, it directs you back to their Sittercity.com website... All disgusting, manipulating online Criminals! Protect your money and credit card account from vultures Scam Companies know the RED FLAGS signs!

Care providers are required to pass Authentication, and if they do not pass, they are required to purchase a background check. If a user is having trouble passing authentication we encourage them to reach out to our Customer Success team for further assistance. Customer service is awful

I joined Sitter city with a wonderful profile. I have been a Nanny for over 15 years and have awesome experience and credentials ( Special Education Teacher, Certified Early Intervention Developmental Specialist and Certified Newborn care Specialist) Also excellent references to prove. Yet my membership was discontinued due to an inadvertently bad background check. I have since run several other background checks with various companies and all have come back good. Yet I am not allowed to ever open another account. I have since created my own babysitting website with great results. (njsitter.com)Its such a shame. I would have loved to continue to use Sitter city. Now i would never recommend them to anyone

Hi Cathy, we're sorry to hear of your disappointment with our background check process. As we previously mentioned when you reached out to us, when something comes up on a background check, a sitter must dispute the process with Sterling our background check vendor. Once Sterling finds these records are no longer in your Motor Vehicle Record, they can verify this on their end, and we would offer you a new check to submit. We know that this isn't ideal, and hope to have this be an easier process in the future, but for now, this is the best protocol to maintain our safety procedures.

SCAM SITE
August 9, 2018

No jobs unless you pay them their monthly fee. Don't believe me? Try it. I answered every single job posting there was in my city just to see if I would get a response. Not a single response. This made me question the authenticity of the "job posting" itself.
Made me think they were fictitious.
What I did get however, were daily emails from the site telling me in order to "get noticed", I would have to pay them every month.
Thinking about coming up with a site myself called "Just Give Me Money" and not providing any service. GENIUS!

I unsubscribed and I closed my account.

I'm a caregiver who was looking for families in need of service and not only was account locked out of nowhere but the lock caused me to miss out on potential offers because I had of way knowing they contacted me (even with my email and cell being on the site) then the few "families" that managed to reach me where SCAMS they were asking for my name (which is clear as day on the site) my address and card info before we even established a meetup time. My account is still active and I have no idea how to get rid of it, I don't even take inquires from the site anymore because it's so shady. I'm appalled and beyond irritated by that sham of a "website"

Some scammers do find a way through registration, but we scan our site daily. Although some of them stay on the site for a very short period of time, our Trust & Safety team is eventually able to identify these accounts and remove them. They rather focus on charging parents reoccuring subscriptions than actually earning the business the right way. They do not answer their customer service line because they know everyone is calling about the same issue. I did not authorize the charge as it was my ex girlfriend's account
