Definitely a lot better than care.com! I actually found jobs on there and people actually respond.

This is a text I received from someone from care.com... (I did not give anyone my number nor was I contacted through the site).

"I have got open position for Nanny, babysitter for my kids/Errand Helper for short period of time for you to be able to pay mom bills, depend on the one you will love to do an with a start salary of $450-$500, and I got your contact from care.com. Kindly let me know if you are interested in working for me incase you are, please kindly email me on *******@outlook.com and I can email you more details about the job, because I am at work I cant text... Mrs Gwilliam."

After that, I responded in email and requested more information about the job that I may be interested in and this is what the person responded with...

"Hello, thank you for responding to my text... Its my break time and i want to use the opportunity to email you, I live in NY, but i am moving to your area on 30th of June and i will need a babysitter for my 6yrs old Daughter immediately between the hours of 9:00 am to 2:00pm Monday`s through Friday`s and i will also need you for an errand to help my mom pay her bills and do some shopping for my mom and daughter as started in my text. I hope you are available this hours, or let me know when its convenience for you. More importantly, I am willing to pay you just try and get back to me and let me know how much you want for the childcare and the errand. I really need a honest and responsible person. This could be a temporary/permanent job. It depends on what your schedule looks like but i do like to be sure if you are available the first month. I am moving to a new house that i need to fix some interior and get furniture and have contacted the furniture company because i don't know if you will like to stay in my house or you want my daughter to stay with him that really depend on what you want. I will let you know as soon as we finalize issues. I will like you to send me your complete name, address and cell phone number so i can include that to my payroll for the period. I also will like you to tell me a few things about yourself. Here is a little about me. I am a single mother, I am 42 and i am hard of hearing. I have lived in Miami, Florida before. I attended Florida School for the Deaf because i am hard hearing, where i achieved my highest qualification. I have my own business (Self Employed). I am never married. I attend the catholic. You will get to know more when we meet. Kindly include in your email your complete name, address and also your cell phone number so i can text you in case i need to pass an urgent information.

NOTE: let me know your charges hourly or daily for the weekdays only? And any other thing you think my Daughter (Lina) will need so that i can make provision and also if there is anything you need to get to take care of him, please do tell me so that we can make all necessary arrangements prior to our arrival date.

Gwilliam"... 1st red flag: Their email did not have their name. Usually, not always, REAL people have their name/last name in their email. That email looked stupid/fake to me.

2nd red flag: They wanted my complete name and ADDRESS. Uhm, NO.

3rd red flag: If I have criminal records (which, I don't), it doesn't really matter as long as I've learned from my mistakes?! Who would let a complete stranger with a criminal background babysit their children?!

4th red flag: They never gave me a full name or a name at all.

They definitely gave me more information about themselves than asking me questions about myself and experience with children. I didn't fall for that crap. No way I'm sending a complete stranger my address. Ha!
