It's a scam.
November 27, 2021

Total scam to steal your information. I scheduled a video call with someone from seller central. They told me I had to upload pics of my drivers license and credit card statement. Then at the Edmond the call they had me show the documents over the call. After the call I was told it would take 2 days. Never heard from anyone again. No email. No call. Nothing. So I'll emailed them and they do not n have a customer or seller supports team. Just automated messaging stating they cannot help me with the matter. It's been a full month, so I contact them again and schedule another call. Some very rude and unprofessional lady picks up from another country with a heavy accent, (which it's fine) but I'm trying to actually be understood. She talked over me the whole time and said she couldn't help me, and when I asked what I should do she just hung up on me. I'm actually afraid my information has been stolen and will be reporting this to the better business bureau. DO NOT USE THIS "SERVICE" THEY WILL STEAL YOUR INFO AND NEVER CALL YOU BACK.

I made what I thought to be an individual free simple account, I added no item and had no activity on it and immediately received a 60£ charge from my credit card, no authorization, no invoice, no explanation. No window in the interface as to why. But to receive the refund, I am being told I need to be "verified" as seller. Who the hell would ever want to sell there after that? Amazon, if you haven't decided I am worthy to be your seller, you cannot charge me in advance either! The experience for a month to get the refund for that and close the account is the most horrific experience with "customer service" in my life! Seller Support is a scam department lying to you about 'escalating the issue" and the Account Specialist calling you back till kingdom come. I was told two times, in writing, the refund was sent back to my bank account and actually waited for it to pay my bills. When you call Amazon Seller Support, everything they say is a deliberate, scamming, Mafia type lie. They are all in India, barely speak English, and all called John and Mary. Every single time, another person with another name answers, has no clue about your case and tells you a different, contradictory story/solution. They keep telling you they 'escalate" the issue to a phantomatic department/account specialist that never answers and you go in a loop forever. Thieves and scammers! DO NOT EVER ADD YOUR CREDIT CARD IN THEIR SYSTEM. You can't even delete it afterwards. The worst Customer Support on the planet, shear incompetence and thievery.

This is the WORST company on the internet! I erroneously signed up for their $39.99 Seller program, realized my mistake and requested a cancellation the SAME DAY. A customer rep (sounded Indian) called me, told me how to cancel it, and that he would put in a request for a refund that same night. No problem - right? WRONG! He failed to tell me they would HOLD my funds for 14 days! After a week of no refund, I contacted support online and another Indian talking rep called me back. I asked him why my refund hadn't been processed and he proceeded to tell me the "Amazon policy" over and over and over again! I swear he sounded like a robot! No feeling, no apology, no help and definitely NO SUPPORT! I asked to speak to someone else and he just kept blabbering on with the Amazon policy crap! Finally I just told him to email me what I needed to do to cancel anything and everything I had to do with Amazon. Said he would send me "instructions" but not to cancel til my account had been refunded in another week. As SOON as that happens, I'm definitely going to cancel and pray to God I NEVER see or hear from Amazon again! If you want to sell online, I suggest getting your OWN website and marketing it yourself. You will get to keep ALL your profits and control your business yourself!

I tried setting up an account. The representative told me I would have to buy a $100 card to get it verified. This entire thing feels like a fraud.

I sell on Amazon (not a huge volume but 1500 units a month) and have been having issues with obtaining brand recognition. I applied for brand recognition following the instructions provided, submitted documentation, and was given a window of 48-72 hours for a decision. During this time, my listing was made inactive due to pending approval. Odd, however, 3 amazon seller support representatives assured me this was normal. 1 week goes by, I have not heard an update, I call Amazon to ask why it is taking so long and why I cannot sell my product under generic. They assure me it is being escalated and they will inquire about my listing is inactive. I receive a pre-typed response with a link to standard selling regulations I can sift through. No response. This becomes a routine, wait 3-4 days, contact them, a new seller support associate assures me they're working on it, then nothing. I have spoken to 20+ associates, and numerous leadership personnel, and still, no resulve. I am in week 7 now of waiting for them to find competence in viewing a picture with my product brand name listing (mind you, I have photo proof of this being my brand as it is a product my wife and I created) OR just allowing me to sell my product under generic. Long story short, seller support is a joke and appears to have incompetent or unwilling people to assist sellers. It is frustrating to sit on inventory in the warehouse and be charged for storage or be charged for a removal order because these people can't put minimal effort into their job. I know Amazon has a history of making it difficult to fire people, but could you maybe hire someone helpful in that department? If you are a new seller, I hope you don't have the experience we have. However, be prepared to not receive support from Amazon. In my experience, they don't seem to put much value into sellers.

This was the worst seller experience that I have ever had. No other retailer even comes close. Amazon will give your items away for free to any customer, for any reason. Amazon on multiple occasions will not even give the seller the opportunity to respond to a customer complaint, nor will they even inform the seller a complaint/case has been opened against you. They are not concerned with the customer returning your merchandise to you, no matter what the cost. This has opened the door to many criminals flocking to Amazon, buying items and making false claims. They fully understand how this system works, and they are assured that it will be beneficial to them and not the seller. This is a thieves paradise. In the end, I was losing far more money than I was making. I had to walk away, and I closed my account. I hand many cameras, and other electronic devices stolen from me. And there was nothing that I could do about it. If you like me, I am sure you are boiling with anger. I think I stayed too long, and should have walked away much sooner. Amazon Selling s Disgusting. While I am not a fan of eBay and other sites, I can say that they will at least read and respond to most of your complaints, nothing like Amazon. Some of the last items that were taken from me were a $500 camera, and 2 wireless speakers costing $600 each. I also had a guy who stole a unit and sent me a broken non-working unit in its place, that was banged up so bad, It didn't even resemble the item that I sold him. I just gave the refund because I became tired of Amazon's B. S. WORST EXPERIENCE EVER. If you are selling $2 Chinese made items, it might be better for you because you really don't have much to lose. However, if your are selling anything of value, STAY AWAY FROM AMAZON!

Years ago I used to sell the odd item on Amazon, second hand books etc. It was similar to Ebay selling. My seller account lapsed as it was not used, and so I decided to sign up again.

Amazon have changed the whole system since then. What they don't tell you is that when you sign up, the automatically put you on the Business selling plan, which costs £25 a month. Nowhere is this stated during the signup process, and I had to change to the Individual Plan (for which you only pay a percentage of each item sold), manually after completing the signup process.

This is the ultimate Catch 22 situation however, because in order to complete the signup process, you have to give Amazon your card details. At no point did I authorize them to charge my card, and since I changed the plan almost immediately, I assumed I would be OK.

WRONG. Woke up this morning to find Amazon had charged me £30, despite ALREADY having opted to change to the Individual plan. Spent the best part of an hour chasing them on support.
Fed me some $#*! and bull story about how they cannot refund to cards (though they can charge you from them without a problem), and the only way to get a refund was to authorize my bank account. This takes days, by the way- and once this is done I have to wait for the next 'dispersal date' to get the money back. Oh, and even then, dispersal takes up to a week.

So basically, Amazon took a matter of hours to take money from me for a service I opted out of, and did not want in the first place. Then expect me to jump through a series of hoops, and to wait a month to be refunded. Oh, and if you Close the seller account, they can't issue refunds at all.

Its absurd to suggest they cannot refund to the same payment method they took the money from. And the refund is entirely dependent on them accepting the documents you give them for 'authorization. I've used Amazon for years, but they've acted like the worst kind of scammers in this regard.

Amazon does not need sellers, they need only buyers. So there is no point of giving them bad feedback since Amazon will only show u a finger anyway.

I tried to call Amazon Seller central when I had trouble getting a listing to appear (first time I had trouble - after successfully listing 14 previous items). The first thing you will notice is that they do not have a contact phone. They will ask you to contact them by email - or to go to their website to look for solutions to common problems (even if your problem is not related).
So, I went to the suggested site and opened a 'trouble ticket'. 2 days later, I got a response that said my product trouble had been reviewed and everything should be fine when the server has time to process the fix (requested I wait another 24 hours) and then they told me they had closed the trouble ticket as the problem was fixed. 24 hours alter I discovered that the problem had not been fixed and because the previous trouble ticket had been closed, I had to open another ticket. This exact same process happened four times - a week and a half went by - and the problem did not get fixed.
Finally almost two weeks later I got the catalog department on the phone and the guy fixed the problem instantly (well, within 5 minute time period).
So I had one week of my listing being on Amazon, I gave them a horrible review and a week later, my seller account was suspended - but no one can tell me why. I did not sell any product, so I could not have had any performance issues or complaints - but no one at Amazon can tell me why it was suspended. They keep telling me that I should just send any requested info - Bar Code, EIN Tax ID ect. But since my product is home-made. It does not have a "Bar-Code", "EIN Tax ID etc., so... they suggested I email them and open a "trouble ticket"

I cannot stress enough why you should not sell to Amazon Vendor. They WILL devalue your brand by selling it so cheap that your other customer bases will refuse to buy from you any longer, they refuse to negotiate on price and good luck in trying to speak to anyone with more than half a brain cell.
I spend at least an hour everyday just dealing with booking in and invoice issues as they cannot seem to grasp the concept of pack sizes, you put cases through for issues and they take forever to reply only to give you some false information. As an example we recently had Amazon refuse to pay for an invoice as they said it was received short, upon checking I could see they ordered 72 (they come in packs of 12) so we sent 6 packs of 12, Amazon booked on 6 and stated that because the order was short we would only get paid for 6, when I pointed out to them that they had clearly booked this on wrong (6 packs instead of 72 singles) they then changed the reason and told me the dispute was refused because the parcel was never received? WHAAATT? I pointed out that they had booked on 6 and paid us for it? How is it possible to book on 6 if you never received the order?
Unfortunately this kind of issue is very common, you will have to sell you products dirt cheap to them only to spend hours and hours every week dealing with a very dim set of employees in customer services to try and resolve simple issues only to end up tearing you hair out because they just do not get simple logistics or accounting. You may not get paid for all orders if they make a mistake and it is down to you to keep chasing them and pointing out the obvious and you still probably will not get paid correctly. After a year and a half of selling to Amazon vendor, the issues, the non payment of invoices for invalid reasons, the hours and hours spent dealing with them, the stock losses and the damages we have now pulled ALL our products from selling to Vendor because we cannot continue to waste precious time basically dealing with a bunch of amateurs who just happen to work for the worlds largest retailer. My advice, if you want to sell on Amazon, do it yourself under a merchant account, this way you keep all logistics and accounting in house.

Amazon in DOMINATING the retail world. They "hook" customers through their PRIME membership and then elbow out their competition on their own site by offering free shipping through PRIME on most of the products that are offered through Amazon's shelves. This gives the independent sellers on Amazon HEADACHES. I went through three months of jumping through hoops to be able to sell my dresses on Amazon. Once they were ALL finally listed it took a LONG time with their SLOW SLOW population of my goods before they started to sell. NOW I HAVE MONEY IN MY ACCOUNT THEY WON'T PAY ME. That is because they have no problem at all accepting my MasterCard for payment of ANYTHING they want to sell me but they will not put my profits on the card OR in my bank account. They way that they want me to open a new bank account and get a VISA to be paid. It is the MOST ridiculous way to keep my money that I have EVER heard of! Additionally, they sell their used books for so cheap on Amazon that the customers expect new books to sell cheap too. So, you don't make much money. I am a published author and have two books on Amazon that are not doing well because they only do well when I offer a FREE promotion. Amazon does VERY little to help their SELLERS and too much to spoil their buyers. What they don't understand is that their biggest buyers are their sellers but not for much longer. People are getting wise to Amazon.

Although I love shopping on Amazon and I have had a great experience for the most part (which inspired me to become an online seller), unfortunately, I don't have positive things to say about the Amazon Sellers department.

I have called Amazon Seller customer support several times now, and it seems like no one can help. I find this (if it was not so stressful) to be silly. I am a university student, and with that said, I am accustomed to doing many tasks online. However, I am unable to sign into Amazon Seller website. I have never had this much trouble before. It is like I am stuck in some merry-go-round going through the same steps over and over again with password reset, but no luck. Then I call Amazon Seller customer support, and they are unable to help. They send the same link that leads to the same page to reset password only to go through the same thing again, landing on a page that says that Amazon is unable to assist me in my request.

I was told that a supervisor would be calling me, but I have not heard back from anyone. I am also upset that I am being charged a monthly fee since I am trying to deactivate my account, but I am unable to since I cannot sign in. The customer support people in the Amazon Sellers department who answer the phone don't seem to have enough training to help, which is another frustrating thing.

I have waisted so many hours trying to get hold of someone, but no luck. I am scratching my head, wondering how a large company like Amazon can offer such poor service to their customers (as a seller, I am still a customer of Amazon). All I want is to deactivate my account, so I no longer are being charged and removing my banking info on the Amazon Sellers account; why is this so difficult?

Selling on amazon use to be good, until recent years. Here are some of the bad experience I went thru: 1 - Some brands don't want you selling their items on amazon so they submit IP claims (false counterfeit, intellectual property claims etc) to harass you and try to shut down your account. This happens a lot. It's easy for them to submit claims. You waste time fighting them off your account and amazon lets this harassment happen, even if you sell with legit invoices. 2 - When shipping items to Amazon FBA they lose some of your items and give you a hard time to reimburse you, sometimes they don't even give your money back at all and open a case on your behalf and say they never got it. 3 - Amazon pretty much does whatever they want to your account, this holiday season they just cut down dramatically (calling them restock limits) on how much inventory you can send to them with no notice, stunting sellers growth. 4 - Gated categories and brands, one day you are ungated and the next day they restrict you from selling certain items. They don't care if you paid thousands of dollars to sell an item. 5 - Lack of communication from amazon, seller support is a joke, they hire people from overseas that just copy and paste template and don't know what they are talking about. These are the few problems I've experience selling on this platform. Selling on amazon has become a pain in the you know what. The horror stories are real with people account being shut down and thousand of dollars of inventory and money being held hostage. Fake amazon guru on youtube can tell you how great it is all day, but it's not. It's one giant headache. From someone that sold for years on this platform and leaving, I highly recommend you stay away from amazon and build a real business for yourself.

I can't explain how bad customer service is from Amazon Seller Central. At times it's actually comical.

Every time you respond to a message, a new agent responds, with zero background. So one message chain containing a fairly simple question can end up taking 30+ messages to resolve. Seems to be luck of the draw whether someone competent/trained picks up the message. The advice you receive is often totally conflicting, and very unhelpful/generic in places.

For example, it has taken more than 60 messages to make very minor updates to my listings Amazon essentially takes full control over your listing once it is created, and when you want to change something, it often won't allow you to automatically. And when you then appeal to Seller Central, they make you prove ownership of your products. EVERY. SINGLE. TIME.

I sell books that I write and publish myself, yet I have had to prove ownership of these products on dozens and dozens of occasions over the years.

To give another example of the incompetency, after dozens of messages trying to update the title/publication date of one of my books, someone from Seller Central actually copied/pasted my instructions to them and published these as the book title. Seriously. So my actual book title on Amazon included something like "... and please use x date instead of y date as the publication date".

Amazon clearly doesn't care, as it has received thousands of consistently awful reviews for years and not taken any perceivable action to improve this. Plus enough third party sellers are dependent on it that the company obviously sees no need to improve the experience. I just wish I hadn't gone down this route and had focused more on my own channels.

As an aside, Amazon also once forced me to lower my prices as it had detected that one of the books was on sale for a slightly lower amount elsewhere (not even sure if this is legal in accordance with competition law?).

Horrible, horrible experience every time something goes wrong.
