Struggled for weeks trying to get a social security account. Weeks working with Login.gov and the very nice lady at SSA. I had changed my cell phone number and that was the root of my problems. The first option of uploading documents and completing questionnaires on ID.me still failed but when I used the video option it was successful! So good to see and talk with a live person!
You have to get an account to access your Social Security information online, and you have two choices to make an account, through login.gov and ID.me, with the latter a government-approved private company. If you think something with ". Gov" in the title is "better" and more efficient, think again. I think that there are people with nefarious motivations handling the information you give them. After all, this is the Trump administration. ID.me is quicker and immediately processes the images you make, unlike login.gov which I think delays images of anyone who doesn't look "right" to "investigate" them (i. E. brown skin).

I had set up my ID.me some time ago but changed phone numbers and wasn't sure what I needed to do. I used their Customer Support to reach out and ask for assistance getting back up and running. I received a personal email from an ID.me representative (YES! An actual human being) who was very professional and new exactly what needed to be done too get me going. He literally typed out an email with step-by-step instructions and I was up and running. I then had to verify my identity and did so by easily uploading documents (it worked the first time!) and then, within minutes after, I had a video call with another ID.me representative, another very professional person who knew exactly what to do. It only took a few minutes and it worked immediately. No wasted time, no waiting for days for someone to get back to you, no hassles. Overall outstanding! 1
Although it took a long time to gather up the information required I am so certain that this experience will pay off to events in my education and other dreams. With the system put in place I am confident security of ID.me
Dissatisfied due to lack of trained employees who can't or don't know how to fix simple issues so that someone can file to draw unemployment while job is shutdown for summer and breaks for holidays I've missed being able to sign up file and draw any income for last 2 years because of this and can't ever catch the 1 employee who can fix this issue due to I'm working on the day or days she is close to my location
When starting out I wasn't sure about this Id.me until I did some back ground checking and realized this could be beneficial to me in keeping my information secure while on the web. With all the scams and dark web, hacking and on and on going on what seems to be complicated is really not so complicated. Take a deep breath and go into it slowly with a positive thought. Before you know it boom it's done and in the long run beneficial, like a new habit it gets better each time you use it!
