I fully understand and respect the need for strong identity security. That said, I find it difficult to reconcile this experience with the fact that people can securely access multiple bank accounts, investment accounts, and other financial institutions—often involving far larger sums of money—without encountering anything close to this level of friction or repeated failure.
Security is important, but functionality matters too. In my case, something in the ID.me process clearly did not work, and there should be a viable alternative instead of forcing users into a single system.
I spent three full days dealing with this process, including video calls and multiple email exchanges, and the issue was never resolved. This raises a reasonable question: why can banks and financial institutions that manage significantly more assets verify identity reliably, while this system fails so easily?
It's very easy to navigate through the steps the instructions are clear and simple to follow. The site is secure reliable and trustworthy.

I was having problems getting my ID verified with login.gov. There was a problem with verifying my phone number. I chose to use the video agent option with ID.me to verify my identity. It took just a few minutes and a couple of documents for the process. It was a great experience.
So long just to get back to a site I had already signed up for. Social security wants you to use this for your protection while they ship all your data to unauthorized third parties illegally. Do I really want them to have my passport info too

A detailed maze of questions and activities that mirror previous gov't sites wanting the same personal information that litters the internet. While the information remains the same, I feel less secure of my footprint that accompanies my personal data, sliced and diced in so many ways. In the end, a simple photo upload derailed me, and the result of an hour's worth of work was wasted.

I am extremely dissatisfied with my recent ID.me experience. Upon attempting to log into my account, it was suspended got no apparent reason. I submitted several tickets to lift the suspension and verify my account. Instead of receiving helpful support, I'm forced to email and ai bot that is extremely futile for this matter. No customer support line or further service has been offered to me. I'm not able to accept job offers that use this site for background checks, and no access to my personal tax information. This feels very illegal. I'll never recommend this site to anyone. Absolutely terrible.
Frustration is the word I would use to describe this process. Security is great, but this experience with ID Me took a whole day to complete. Photographing, uploading was very difficult due to constant rejections of the uploads. (probably A. I.) After finally getting through to an agent, after about 5 minutes told me she couldn't find me in the system. (I've been receiving S. S. for nearly 30 years), then disconnected the call. The second agent was extremely helpful, and worked with me during multiple internet freeze ups. She finally got the job done. Be prepared!
Easy and convenient. No need to travel and go to the office to apply. Just read the instructions carefully in filing information then submit.

After going through the process of setting up an account and being verified I was redirected to a disabled web page. This is a waste of time.
After entering all the information requested along with photo IDs, email, phone number, etc. I received verification that everything was accepted. However, I tried on multiple occasions to go back and track my tax return to no avail it does not work!
Had to get my identity verified before I could file my taxes! I thought " oh no" I don't have good luck with these kinds of thing, but it actually took less than 5 minutes and I was verified and was able to access my account with no issues! Easy sailing!
