Customer service at the Leesburg site was woefully lacking.
We were told for "security purposes" we could not place our order over the phone, and also that we had to come in to the store to place the order for it to be shipped (at no cost to us) to our Florida home. Since when can one not place an order over the phone? I was able to order the lamp on-line, received the 25% discount currently being offered, and also got free shipping as the total purchase price was over $49.
We would not have bought this lamp if we had not been able to order it online.
To quote Julia Roberts in Pretty Woman, "Big mistake! Big! HUGE!" There are plenty of other Pier 1 stores in our area; the Leesburg location just lost my business forever.
I purchased Corrinne dinning chairs a year and a half ago for our dining room. Having to recently move them I found out the bottom half of the back of the chair is nothing more than cardboard. Now two of my chairs have large dents in the back. Considering I paid 260.00 and that was on sale I expected better than cardboard.
Pier 1 in Newington CT Berlin Turnpike. Purchased an item and was asked to hand over my credit card so the clerk could look at my signature. The signature was worn off so she asked to see my license. I asked why and she said to prevent credit card fraud. She looked at my drivers license signature and then asked if it was my license. They profiled me and were discriminatory because of the way I looked. I had a gap jean jacket on, dark hair, dark eyes and grey hair. I am so angry that I'm going back to the store tomorrow to speak with a manager. I will never buy another item at Pier 1.
We purchased a 3 piece outdoor set with white glove delivery. We waited 3 weeks and the loveseat came with out legs. The driver just left it in our home and told us to figure it out. Waited on hold for 2 hours with Pier1 customer service to be told that the legs will take 2 months. Horrible customer service. Stay away.
When Pier1 had stores I loved to shop there and I never had issues with the quality of anything I ever purchased. I recently attempted to order a new area rug online and it was a huge mistake. I ordered an 8 x 10 rug, which arrived as a 7 x 9 rug. Then to make it worse the quality was horrible. There were several spots where the rug fibers were gone, to the point where you could see the back of the rug showing through. But that's not even the worst part. The attempted return process has been a nightmare. They wanted to offer me a 20% discount on a future purchase to go away quietly. I refused their offer and told them I expected a return label to be sent to me and that I expected a full refund to my credit card. They are now telling me that there will be a $19 charge for the return of the rug (that was the wrong size and damaged) and that I would receive a store credit. I've gone back and forth with them for 4 days, I'm done and have given them 24 hours to send a prepaid return label and to confirm that my credit card will be fully refunded. If I don't hear from them I will file a dispute with my credit card company.
Please save yourself time and frustration - don't order from them. This is not the company it was a few years ago before they closed all their stores.
Great place for gifts for any occassion. Even a coffee mug for a co-worker is special here and well priced. Furniture is a bit high and looks trendy, but not built for lasting. Mirrors and other items unique, but trend based. Not too many rugs. Alot of table decor, wall decor, room scents, pillows and small gifts that are unique.
Pier 1 keeps cancelling my online orders, but then I see the items available on their website again. Either they have a major inventory issue, or they are just cancelling orders for no good reason. In the cancellation email there is no explanation as to why they cancel the order or apology. When you call customer service, it literally hangs up on you! Wow, what happened to this place?
First time online order two items, towel rack need to repair ( think about return, already opened box, I have to drive to shop). Two chairs very bad, your hand feel painful when put on seating area, have to return. Customer service is nice. So I rating them two stars. Or just one star
I have been updating our home and started looking at pier1 for some of my changes.
I shop online and free shipping to my local store. If I do not like the item, they will refund in store with out a problem.
The quality and customer service has been great.
I'm officially old now and this place isn't what it used to be. No more cutting-edge decorator items at decent prices. There's some nice stuff there, but it could be found just about anywhere. I remember the East Indian batiks of old, handcrafted decor from all over the world (not just China), dishes that sang, never before seen stuff.
Pier 1 is a favorite of mine (and many of my friends)--personnel are always helpful and lots of cool stuff to choose from. This is my first experience with online purchase from them and it was a great experience. I made a big mistake but they handled it like pros. I received several packages one day and assumed they were all from another store. I called Pier 1 and told them I had not received the lamp I ordered. No problem---they sent me another immediately, no questions asked. Amazing. Then I opened the packages I had and discovered one contained the lamp I had ordered from Pier 1. I felt like an idiot but the customer service rep at Pier 1 was fantastic and simply issued me a new label for the second lamp package and UPS picked it up. Not once did the rep question my motive in requesting the second lamp, she accepted my word without a fuss. Her only goal was to make me a satisfied customer---goal achieved plus some. I remain a fan of Pier 1 in all its branches.
I shop a lot on-line on Pier1. Great choices and good values. Most of my purchases have been on sale, and I love it. I pick up most items at the store and save on shipping. When I had to return 2 items due to color problems (Color was not exactly as it appeared on the computer screen), it was done very easily with no hassles. Great service.
I've been a user for some 8 months now I'd say, so I feel like I know my way around the service pretty well by now. Truth is, it really is as simple and straightforward as it seems. You get cash back, they get a referral fee, and everyone's happy. I'm writing this review after interacting with customer service and it was stellar. It really feels like they know what they are talking about. In these 8 months I've received around 200$ of cashback, so if your a smart shopper, it's definitely worth it.

So, I've been shopping at Pier One for over a decade and have a Pier One credit card--which is separate than their store business. So two years ago, I moved. My mistake. I notified the two separate accounts. Every time I have ordered anything or gone into my new local Pier One store, my account is NEVER correct. I have had the same cell number for 12 years yet they have it associated with someone else! I ordered a piece of furniture and did they send me a postcard to my new address? NO! They called a defunct phone number! Even though I explained my move is permanent and the old number is no longer working. Trying to change my address information involves repeated requests at the store and calling 'Customer Service' and waiting for ages to speak to a human! It's been a nightmare!
So after shopping religiously at Pier One for years, they decide to change the way they sell merchandise now. I walked into the store on Brownsboro Rd, Louisville Kentucky to find new items everywhere. In fact i wanted to purchase the very first picture on display in front. The manager informed me consumers now have to order everything online unless it's in the back of the store. The new merchandise can not be purchased because it was "in a display" (in the middle of the store.) They would gladly send it to my house but no buying anything at the store... I would love to know why they thought this was a good idea.
I've shopped Pier 1 stores in Florida and Georgia. All these stores are consistently great with merchandise, pricing and customer assistance. Pier 1 has something for everyone. I highly recommend their candles and kitchen/ dining inventory. I love shopping at Pier 1 during the Christmas season. Pier 1 has gorgeous Christmas ornaments, candles, decorating merchandise and dishes. I'd love to be able to purchase furniture.
I purchased a few items today. The person said she charged me twice for the same item and would take it off. Meanwhile was talking with a friend who had stopped in the store as she is checking out my items. I asked if she took the extra item off, she said, "Yes." Driving home looked at my receipt and saw the item on there twice. Stopped my car and called and the other person looked it up and took the item off. Email confirmation said for reason: changed mind. I did not change my mind. I purchased only 1 of the item. The staff took no responsibility, didn't apologize.
This is my MOST FAVORITE store & I'm no longer allowed in here! EVER! My husband drives past it because I spend money like a crazed fool when I'm in there. I love everything they sell. The colors & variety is marvelous. So in season & vibrant. Always alive & new.
Had an account over a year with excellent payment. Went into store to payoff balance after Hurricane brought onintetnet issues. Got a statement today with 2 late fees after paying off balance in good faith islnsoxe the store.
Hard to get account balance online without account number (not on statement))
Hard to get through auto response when calling customer service.
They would only refund one late fee even after explaining duress of aftermath of Hurricane related problems.
Hurt my pride and my excellent credit rating and took $30 of mine that did. It belong to them.
