I would not give this company any stars as I tried to purchase 5 mg of vetoryl from them. It is on back order every where. Petco guaranteed me that they had it. I was surprised so I repeated the question. They said, 'they had it". 2 days later I was wondering why the order was still pending and not processing. I called them and they stated it was on backorder. I do not like the integrity of this company as I specifically asked them to process my order right away as I was concerned they would run out. They did not listen and now my dog is without medications.

I took my dog to Petco before today for grooming. The Grooming experience was so bad that I received a full refund and was assured by the grooming manager (Kim) that she would personally groom Emma the next time. I made an appointment for Emma to be groomed today with the grooming manager at Petco in Myrtle Beach. Since Kim had assured me that she would personally groom Emma, I put full confidence in her grooming abilities. Kim was shown a picture of what Emma was to be cut like. Emma is a Peek A Tese which should never be cut short. Kim was specifically told today not to cut Emma short and Do Not cut her ears short. When my daughter picked up Emma this afternoon, she was treated very rudely by Petco employees. If I had been the one to pick Emma up, I would have refused to pay for her cut again today. Emma is cut short and chopped up so bad except her hair on top of her head is parted in the middle. SMH. Her ears are cut short after specifically telling Kim to not cut Emma's ears short. Emma's back paw doesn't match the other three. I've never been so disappointed in a grooming job. It was even worse the second go around than it was the first time I took her there. At my last visit to Petco in Myrtle Beach,when looking in the window all the long haired dogs had the exact same cut. It's like the groomers are taught to cut one specific way even though you asked for something specific and show them pictures. That does not do any good. I also was charged $10 more for this grooming.

Honest People

In a honest review, I have not shopped at petco for a period of time only because there is a closer pet store less than a mile from me. However when I was shopping there there was always someone avaliable to help you.It is just one of those stores you never have to go look for someone if you need help. They even offer you help out to the car if you have large items. That is taking true pride in your custormers, especially if you happen to have a dog along side.
I think the other thing I think is extraordinaryabout Peto, if someone doesn't know the answer to your question you will not leave until they have found the answer! Awesome Petco. It's so frustrating to walk out of a store where someone just says "i don't know" and walks away". Kudos to you!

I have been a customer odf Petco for grooming and shopping for my malti-poo for over 6 years. Consistent and professional service from each Petco from South Bay, to Orange County and now Big Bear, Ca. Which I have just retired to. Alway have my up to date info, grooming, they are on top of training! Thanks again Crystal at Big Bear Petco and staff! Natalie

No Issues!

I order from Petco every 1~2 month to get pet food and haven't had bad experiences. I would buy from them much more often but a lot of their supplies go out of stock very quickly so it doesn't leave me much choices but to buy elsewhere or in-store. However, there are a few things I would definitely keep in mind as a customer:

1. Their same day delivery is $35+ and there's very little mention on the product page that the item is delivered by DoorDash. Personally, I don't mind since it's free, but it would've been nice to know sooner as I felt bad not knowing that I had to pay gratuity or tip to the driver which is optional but I felt like a jerk not doing so.

2. They cancel pick-up orders without reason. Although it's usually because they're out of stock, this should be specifically mentioned to the customer. At the end, I still get an email from Petco asking me to rate my item but the item was out of stock so I never got it.

Overall, my expectations are not high for a pet supply store. They get the job done, they delivery my items, customer service treats me with respect so I have no complaints.

Store vrs. Online isues
September 30, 2015

Every time I go to my local store I always have to tell them of the sales on their website. And half the time, I really should just buy it online and have it shipped to my house because the store locally is ridiculous and the employees are nasty individuals that don't really care about your pets, they only care about the money you are spending and would rathe ryou not save anything.

Poor service
April 10, 2019

I have been going to the Petco on Shepherd and 11th st. For years and I am completely over it. Tokay I was told by an employee that he could not help me get crickets that only the cashier can help me who had customers. Customers first right? The week before that I asked for 60 crickets, and noticed that there were less than I asked for. The guy that bagged the crickets charged me for 40 because he knew he was wrong but I still did not get what I asked for. There are never enough employees, they have a constant turn around of employyees every month. I have had enough. Finding a new location to get my animal products.

I tried ordering prescription Royal Canin food through Petco.com and it was awful. No store anywhere near me carried this food and my dog has developed severe allergies so she actually has no food to eat that doesn't cause her harm until this arrives. Petco delayed and delayed. They lost the order, didn't send it to the vet for approval, couldn't manage to send the fax to the right place, wouldn't the prescription the vet gave me, and refused to take anything other than a *handwritten prescription* that specified a ton of detail. Even that they couldn't get together since they couldn't manage the right fax. After an hour on the phone with them and half a dozen calls to my vet I finally got them to call the vet for a verbal approval and they released ONE BAG of food. They didn't put the prescription into the system though. And after all those delays more than a week it still took five more days to get the food here. This is utterly ridiculous. Don't bother with this terrible company.

Went into the seekonk MA store to pick up filter media for my aquarium. While there figured i scope out other items thaat they carry. First it was an employee looking for something in the isle that i was in. A few seconds later the employee and a manager were in same isle. Both left isle and emplyee in pet dept comes in isle with the emloyee from earlier, looks at something on the shelf, making a few comments then left. I have worked in retail for over 15 years and know exactly what they were doing. Very unprofessional. Will never go back to that store again. I will order off amazon first.

We pass by Petco Unleashed a few times a week and I have to stop in with my furbabies at least once a week to pickup treats, grooming supplies, toys and to checkout the latest fashions. My furbabies loves to go shopping. We love the customer service. They are knowledgeable and friendly. They are definitely animal lovers. A couple of towns over there's a really big Petco where there's a grooming salon. I have 2 bichon frise and they do a fantastic job on their afros, nails and teeth. We are very happy with the service. The furbabies are excited to shop for TREATS.

Stellar Service!

I lost my horse this week and had a prescription en route from Petco. I contacted them to see if I could cancel the order and altho I was not able to return it they still offered a refund. In an age where every company is after every penny they can get here's Petco doing the right thing because it's the right thing to do. What a refreshing change! In the past I have always had great service and fast shipping and the website is easy to navigate and order from as well. As a comparison... Chewy would not do the same for the bottle of Pergolide I had just recieved. They wanted it back but we had already donated it to a local rescue. I am a shopper, with a horse that needed alot of management I had to be price savvy so I can assure you Petco had the best price on the med I was ordering. Petco will always be the first place I shop. Thank you for helping my nightmare week just a little better Petco.

Petco have large and variety collections of pets. But the pets are selling with high costly. For a middle income family people it will not be affordable.

I really like using online Petco because our brick and mortars are staffed with twits.

Any and all online orders Ive ever made were shipped for free or inexpensively and the price was good.

I went to get some birdseed and wanted to use the restroom to re-insert my contact lens because I could not drive without the contact lens. I talked to the manager and he absolutely would not let me enter the restroom. His excuse was COVID! He told me I could walk over to Home Depot and use their restroom! What? From now on I am buying everything for my pets online.

Double charge- BE CAREFUL!

So I ordered my pet's arthritis medication through Petco.com because the price is half the price of the vet HOWEVER with my pets first refill not only was I charged TWICE but I was told that they had to confirm the prescription with the vet. I argued because even the bottle showed 3 refills. Why would they need another order from the vet?! Even the vet called me asking why this company was requesting a refill when they gave refills on the original prescription. I was told that even though there were refills they still needed to verify the refills with the vet. This to me means that refills don't mean a thing to Petco. As far as the double charge, Petco said they only charged me once so I had to dispute the second charge for the prescription. Now here it is 2 months later and I saw that Petco is refilling my pets anti-inflammatory medication without the headache of requesting a refill from the vet. As I mentioned they already approved refills. Anyway, again I am double charged for 1 prescription. Apparently they charge when they begin the refill process and AGAIN when they mail the medication. This time Petco took down my information so hopefully I won't need to dispute through PayPal but honestly I don't have much faith. I'm definitely going to keep track and get my money back. This whole process has wasted so much of my time I had to review it with the world. Personally I'd rather pay more than work with Petco prescriptions in the future. I can't wait until I'm out of refills! Buyer beware!

I recently went to PetCo looking for a pet to buy. When I was looking at the betta fish, I was absolutely shocked and appalled by their living conditions. The fish were in small, dirty cups with no lighting or heating, and we found about ten dead fish. The employees said that the bettas didn't need much space, and they didn't require lighting or heating, but I was still appalled by the conditions these fish were kept in. The leopard geckos were also in pretty bad shape, as the temperature for their habitat was less than the required temperature, and their skin was flaking in a way that couldn't have been molting. The birds had exposed patches of skin and were acting lethargic, and when I asked the staff about it, they just said that the birds were fine, even though I knew they were not. Sorry that I couldn't add a picture, I didn't bother to take any during my visit. Just stay away from the Sunset Valley area PetCo store.

Petco is more expensive than the other pet store I go to. Not enough choices in a certain brand I like so now, I have to drive further p, but it's not worth going there

Absolute worst customer service from grooming mgr Alex. We had a 1pm appt for a simple nail clip. We always see Beth, but she's not back until next week. Last time she wasn't there, a man did his nails where they were bleeding. When Alex decided, at 1:10pm, to come talk to me, I told her I didn't want the guy because of our past experience. She said I offended both She and the guy groomer and I could leave. I asked why. She said if you don't want him, you are insulting us. Told me to come back next week when Beth returns! I told her I'll never step foot in that store again, and asked her name. Entire time had her arms crossed, very non welcoming. I woukd like to hear from the regional mgr. This is completely unacceptable to a consumer.

My vet has faxed in approval 4 times and Petco claims they did not received. I never had this problem with any other on line pet RX company. Don't use PETCO!
