Overstock contacted me after this review & sent me the replacement parts at no charge to me. They had to send me another dresser for me to get the parts I need and return the rest, but they paid for the shipping. Their pro-active actions have changed my opinion & I will now continue doing business with them in the future.
This should be a zero star. I bought a dresser from them, and it came with a broken plastic leg. It also had horrible assembly instructions and quite difficult to do - took 4 hours. When I stood the dresser up another leg broke. I went to their website and requested replacement parts. Never heard back so I had to call them. They said it would cost me $28 to get replacement parts plus shipping. I told them that that's unacceptable, so I wanted a return & refund. They told me I would have to pay the return shipment label of $240. Basically, they accept no responsibility for their cheap products. I wrote a review like this one on their website for this product & they removed it. So, their reviews are censored. I will never do business with them ever and you should not either.
Ordered my daughter's mattress set on December 6 and finally having it delivered on January 5. It took one month because the delivery company, M XD, kept calling my work phone after business hours. When I would call M XD back and the phone number provided, I would get an automated response and then get cut off. I had to contact Overstock at least 6 times (after getting nowhere with M XD) and was completely frustrated at the lack of customer service and inability to fix a simple problem. Their "customer service specialists" and managers are useless! I was happy to take delivery of my purchase but could not get through to schedule delivery.
In the mean time, I ordered another bed through Amazon after I placed the above order and received it a week later with no problems.
I've used Overstock 6 times now and I'm finally saying NEVER AGAIN! There has been a problem with every order. Poor quality is a common problem, but you can't expect quality at their prices. What you should be able to expect though is getting the correct order, and they frequently send the wrong thing, or miss an item from an order. Move on. Buy elsewhere. Overstock SUCKS!
Overstock will not let me cancel my order, even though it is delayed, with no estimated delivery date! Hopefully, they will let me return it, with no shipping fees, but who knows, given the other reviews here.
The sectional I purchased arrived with the tear in the back that looks like it was stabbed with the fork from a lift truck. I sent a message to customer service and it said that I would receive a response within a day, but I have yet to hear back. I also left a review for the product and they denied that as well.
If you need something like computer parts they have it usually! We have used them to purchase parts for computers before and other stuff too! Their prices are reasonable and they ship!
Satisfied customer
Ordered a watch for wife birthday, later found out it was "Return" item due to packaging not original as well as a complaint note inside the manual.
Guess they only check the watch but never flip thru manual.
I shop here on Overstock frequently because they offer good products/value and the customer service is great. If you have to return something they make it pretty painless to do so. Great place to find area rugs. My only complaint is that sometimes it is hard to find what I am looking for because of the sheer amount of products the carry and the search function of the website seems a little wonky sometimes.
I purchased a couple of chairs because they were advertised as real leather. After minimal use the leather began flaking off the chairs, as you often hear happening with bonded leather. I believe the chairs were not accurately advertised. I contacted the company but they will do nothing because it is past the 30 day return policy. Unfortunately the inferior quality of the product is not apparent immediately upon receipt. Based on their disinterest in resolving the situation, it appears to me that the advertisement may have been deliberately deceptive.
Got a couch for 650$, expecting to get something of quality for that price. Couch shows up, and it looks like awful. Fabric feels like the same fabric used for a cheap suit, the legs are mad of cheap metal that was already bending from me screwing them in, and the only way was screw in the arms was to cut into the fabric under the couch, cause the flat out covered them up. I genuinely feel like i could have gotten something better for 200$ at any retail store. Add in the fact that the shipping to return it is over 200$, and you just have a perfect recipe to burn your money away.
I have shopped with Overstock.com several times and they are always prompt with delivery which is great! The occasional knock off item that is not up to par in quality with the real thng isn't their fault :) so one (read, I) should know better, but the deals can definitely be found here; just got a 100% wool suit for $65 that would have easily cost $250 + at a suit store (one of those "warehouse" type places, hint hint) and it looks, feels, exactly like my other 250 + dollar suits; still needs to be tailored but nominal fee there. I will continue to shop with Overstock and hopefully get more "hits" than "misses"!
Five pair of earrings... all from different addresses. Florida, Pennsylvania, etc. with home addresses. One from a city I myself lived in. Address had an apartment number. Was told when I had to return the earrings that they 'all came from different warehouses'. NOT SO. Individual people use Overstock to sell their flea market or were buy outs through Overstock. Was also told that all returned items were not sold again. Also not true. One pair of the earrings came with one in a small plastic bag the other was just laying in the box the not closed (lever back). They are selling back refused or used earrings. And what else?
I purchased a refurbished laptop from Overstock.com. The product key code was not provided when shipped. Contacted seller, they referred me to vendor. Vendor did not respond. After several days requested and received an RMA. Shipped it back, have proof of delivery and still not refund. Their people seem cordial, but it's all words. I am absolutely amazed at how poorly this transaction has gone and they remain silent. Filed a dispute with credit card company; it was my only option. Bad PR for a retail company.
I bought 14 dining room chairs.
Expensive even at the low prices when you buy 14.
They look nice, but they are not wood as advertised, and after two years and numerous fixes because they deteriorate ( have to have the underframe rebuilt each time), they are now no good. They cannot be rebuilt anymore as the wood(?) is crumbling and a screw won't hold.
When i called i was told i should have bought insurance. Never heard of a store saying that when their product falls apart. Maybe overstock makes all their money on insurance.
Then i decided to write the president of the company.
Okay, so maybe i didn't expect 14 new chairs, but i expected a courteous answer at least.
Nope. Computer generated pablum.
Most of the review sits rate them low. One rates them very high, which is so out of whack that i wonder what planet the reviewers came from...
The incorrect order sent 3 times, and customer service says there is no way to escalate a complaint. I keep sending it back, they keep resending the wrong thing. Absolutely maddening. I'd pay twice the price somewhere else.
Worst company ever when it comes to shipping. They lie about shipping times in hopes you'll order and then just roll with it when they 'cant' deliver on time. I will NEVER purchase from this company again. I ordered an item for Christmas back on Nov 23 and was told it would arrive in 10 days. When it wasnt delivered I contacted Overstock... I was told it wont arrive in time for Christmas. Their website at this very moment states the item will arrive by Dec 23 if ordered today, the 13th. If you are counting on something arriving when they say it will, don't order from this company. This is the second time this has happened. Never again. I learned my lesson. Now I don't have the gift I was planning for my son for Christmas.
I've ordered over the past 2 years with Overstok, you would think that I had learnt my lesson, apparently not.
Their products are at times worse than the Dollar Store; an example, a pair of black "suede" look boots, after less than a month they are falling apart. I paid over €45 approximately $65-70 for these boots with taxes etc. I could have bought a very good pair of leather boots for this cost.
They also give you the option to pay all duties etc with them, it's triple the normal cost. I returned items as they sent the wrong size, and some items were just junk quality. I had to argue for the full refund, AND then still pay the duties.
I will shop locally, even if at times it appears I pay more, I've realised you get what you pay for!
Complete JUNK products! Stay away!
I ordered 2 items from Overstock on July 12th, they were the same item, just 2 different sizes. One took 12 days, and the other took 20 days. They were shipped within 1 day of each other. The online colors were not close enough to what I received so I decided to return them both. They wanted to charge me for the UPS return. In today's world their customer service and "free delivery" policy needs to be dramatically revamped. I used to purchase $1,000-$2,000 per year from them a few years ago. Now, Amazon Prime is my go to source for 80% of my online purchases. With other sources offering 1-3 day delivery and free returns, Overstock is no longer a competitor in the Online shopping market.
I am a comparative shopper and I often check several sites simultaneously for the best deal before purchasing online. Overstock wins so often on price for the exact items I want that I joined their affinity program to get their rewards.
I find that their search function and item descriptions work better than some of their primary competitors. Overstock seems to the fact that it is important to have precisely consistent item descriptions, so that users can search successfully.
CustomerboughtI have been shopping at overstock for the better part of 5-6 years. My first purchase was a metal bed really cute for my daughter. I didn't have much money and she was growing out of her toddler bed. I crossed my fingers and prayed to God I just didn't screw up, but it was amazing. Over the next cpl years I have bought a captains chairs, a brand new mattress set for my mother in-law, curtains, dishes, towels, ect and never once have they lost my package, or even come damaged. I will continue to use this site for as long as they stand behind their products, an have a great customer service
Answer: Hey, I would be very careful. I have transacted with Overstock three times and I don't believe there is as much security in terms of guarantee as with Amazon. And, if you buy items fulfilled by Amazon (meaning the product ships from Amazon's warehouse) you are even more guaranteed. For example, I bought some dinner napkins from an Amazon seller, fulfilled by Amazon. They were not what they were supposed to be and Amazon issued me a credit immediately and scheduled UPS to pick up my item to return. I'm very confident that with Amazon you will get quality service and if the product is not as described or substandard you will be in better hands especially with Amazon fulfilled items. Overstock is just not up to par and I wouldn't purchase something like a medicated cream from Overstock until they get it together.
Answer: I used a credit card on Overstock when purchasing my bed. It was years ago, I still sleep on it. I had no problems using my credit card on Overstock
Answer: They send it back to Overstock, call or Email them for a refund
