We used Optum for the last year or so, and things ran mostly smoothly. Insurance changed at the beginning of the year, and no longer use them, except they won't release the RX to the new pharmacy, they keep "trying" to filling, but not doing so because my insurance won't cover it, and the new company can't fill it because it shows it's being filled by Optum. I've missed more doses than I've been able to take, and spent literally hours on the phone trying to deal with this.
My doctor writes me a prescription for my skin cancer medication and since it's taking longer then 6 months that's recommended they will no longer pay for it it wasn't such a good decision to pick United healthcare matter of fact is a pretty poor decision on my part but I will be looking to change it.
And how do you have proof if it's not approved
I have a 90 day prescription that has been returned to sender twice because they can't separate my street into two words. They were going to give me an emergency script to pick up at Walgreens. But when Walgreens called they said there were no refills. No duh it's was a 90 day supply that was the original that I still haven't received. Alex said to look it up a overdue from him, for an emergency script but everyone is so stupid and in another country so there's really no help. I am dropping out of this ASAP
I've been trying to get my prescription filled for over a month. Every time I call I am on hold for no less than 30 minutes and sometimes several different times just to be told I have a to call my local pharmacy. I've been on the run around with them meanwhile have no medication. I got a call from my local pharmacy saying the prescription was ready for pickup and by the time I got there the next day someone from Optum RX had called and had them cancel it. This place is a joke and if you can use anywhere else I highly suggest not wasting your time with these guys.
I am in need of a special medication. After them lying and said my Doctor office did not have my insurance I provide this information and the very next day they state it was rejected because I have two insurances which is not true. I explain what they were considering as an insurance was the company I actually work for that provides the insurance. Now the second day I am on the phone with this Optumrx company and have spoken with four reps. And they still don't know what is going on with the rejection after the insurance rep. Clearly stated the reason it's being rejected was due to the packaging. Which has nothing to do with me. When you are not feeling well the last thing you need to deal with is inadequate people dealing with your medication placing you on hold for ridiculous amounts of time. I've been on hold again over 30 minutes. Horrible, Horrible, Horrible.
I would rather be racked over burning hot coals multiple times a day then to have to use this specialty pharmacy. They are the most incompetent organization I have ever dealt with in my entire life. They never follow up with the doctor. My doctor has to send a prescription multiple times before they have the competence to process it. Im a slave to the process because my health insurance forces me to use this pharmacy. What happened to free choice we live in America.
These people are so disconnected from the needs of the patients they do not send your meds on time you have to pay double copay to get a 10 day supply from the local pharmacy. Plus pay you deduction to this company for your late medicine with no reimbursement and their representatives are rude and non caring.
If at all possible, run from this company as fast as you can. They screw up everything they do to the point you think it's intentional. If you have to add or change a script it will be a exercise in futility.
I recently switched to OptumRx from recommendation by my insurer. They sent me medication I didn't need and sent 6 tubes of a medication that I barely use up in a year with 1-1/2 year expiration dates. And have the nerve to charge me when my local pharmacy does not.
Over the past few months, I have had errors in scripts filled, errors in pricing, errors in communication regarding script refills, and even lost scripts. I have been extremely frustrated with OptumRx requesting new scripts from physicians expressly against my explicit requests. (They continue to request new scripts from physicians when the older scripts have yet to be filled.) As one could reasonably assume, this also does not amuse my physicians, who are more than fed up with the pharmacy.
I have spent hours on the phone trying to remedy incorrect script requests and communications, to the point of having specific script information in hand, from the prescribing physician with script number, date, medication, dosage, quantity, and refills. Yet even with this very specific information in hand and provided, OptumRx manages to repeatedly request a brand new prescription from an outdated physician visit a year prior.
I struggle to convey the breadth and depth of my frustration with OptumRx, which by this point is paralleled by the frustration of the physicians and staff.
Group ins. Chose OptimRx.
After missed refills, took me over 45 mins. To "speak" online to a customer rep.
Finally convincing him that indeed I had missed refills, I was told that one could be sent at co-pay of over 300% of last.
Easily found local source at original cost.
Tried to transfer my wife's heart medication to optimumrx to try to save money. They never followed up with her doctor and then when i called them they claimed it would take 10 days to deliver when originally they said 2 - 4 days. Not worth saving a few bucks for a critical prescription.
My insurance requires us to use optum rx for prescriptions, and the are totally useless! I had only one prescription ever, and they refused to fill it as the doctor wrote it. No explanation just no. I had to get a coupon in order to get what I needed. They are only interested in saving money period. If you use them eventually they will refuse you for something. My husband has to use them too and has so many problems with them. He's on the phone for hours to try and get things right. This last problem was the worst. Because of them he has been without his diabetes medication for over 2 weeks! They keep asking for the same thing from his doctor, the doctor sends it and they won't approve it. Then we start all over again! This med. Is expensive and we can't afford it without insurance. If you can avoid using them do it. If I could give them 0 stars I would!
This has to be one of the worst businesses I have ever dealt with. I have an issue with every single prescription that goes through this pharmacy. The employees never seem to have an answer as to why for any problem I call about. Wrong prescriptions sent to the wrong family member, cancelled prescriptions after my doctor authorizes them, prescriptions sent to the wrong address, the list goes on, and never any answers. Done. I will go back to my local pharmacy and never look back. Will never do mail order again. Unbelievable that these people are even still in business.
Optumrx is great and hassle-free when they do not have any question about the prescription. If they think there is an issue, you can forget receiving your refill on time. Their customer service staff are unreliable because they do not get out of their way to follow up with the doctor or the patient. They are either not trained well or they are not allowed to think outside the box. Thus, the patient suffers. Following up with them over the phone is painful. Be ready to stay on hold for a minimum of half hour.
Horrible Pharmacy for patients who take their meds as prescribed by the Doctor to stay healthy! Mr Doctor has prescribed cholesterol meds for me for over three years, all the sudden OptumRX DECLINED it! For months I have called, emailed, etc. and although they'll tell you they're mailing you paperwork to appeal the pre-approval denial decision, it never is mailed, you just don't get the medicine. Their medicine pre-approval process will approve a different med, don't care if it works so long as it's cheaper and they get more kickbacks I guess. Why else would a pharmacy deny a medicine that your Doctor says you need to maintain a healthy life. Seems It's all about the $$ not you or your health!
I take 4 different medicines that this company has been filling for approx 9 months. Now, 2 of the medicines supposedly react together and they wont will it without doctor approval (I mentioned this is not the first time these medicines have been filled together). So either they have been incompetent the last times they filled it or they are being incompetent and screwing up now. To make matters worse, instead of sending out the 2 that don't interact they cancelled the entire order. Now I will be out of all my meds before any get here. I found out the day my pills were supposed to be here there was a problem and found out the day after that they cancelled order. I will be complaining to my insurance company on a daily basis and starting a petition within our union to get this company removed.
Can I tell you one more time do not use this company, inconsistent medication and billing! Will never have anything to do with this company as long as I'm alive! You know when a company makes you that mad, I would pay attention to the reviews. Next time I'll read the reviews first!
I have been on the phone with these people for 2 days trying to straighten out my order. They are rude and a horrible experience! Shame on my for not reading the reviews. They have faxed the wrong Drs and didn't have their phone number right. Every time I call I get a different answer.
I would have to say this is the worst company ever and will be glad when our employer cancels our contract I've been waiting for days to have my prescription of chemo delivered to my oncologist it's been one excuses after another
Answer: They are a legitimate pharmacy benefits manager for United Healthcare, but their prices and practices leave alot to be desired.
Answer: Don't hold your breath - they are all about money - not customer service
Answer: You can send them a message on their website which they won't even read for days, so it's a useless feature. You can also call them at 1 (800) 356-3477 and sit on hold for 10 minutes before getting a person to talk to. In my experience, calling them has never resolved whatever issue I'm calling about, but you can talk to someone.
Answer: Only bad part of this united plan. Optum is worse than poor. They misplace Rx's and then lie
