New Type II diabetes medication was denied by AARP/United Healthcare's (UHC) Optum RX subsidiary because "Mounjaro Inj 2.5/0.5 is not on the drug list (formulary)", Yet the Medicare website for my Part D drug plan shows what the cost is - both their payment and my co-payment. Not sure how it is one the Medicare AARP/UHC website, but not in the formulary.
Customer service was polite but not helpful. I will likely change both my Supplement plan and my Part D during open enrollment.
This is a blow to AARP's brand and their credibility. I would suspect they only care about the "sponsorship commission" they get paid by UHC. I would encourage anyone to carefully research their Part D provider before they enroll
Just received notice from them that they will no longer pay fr my chemotherapy pills, the only med holding my non-Hodgkin's at bay. Thanj you very much.
Purposely make filling prescription impossible. Refuse to send prior authorization. Said doc has 72 hours or comply. If he did not return the prior authorization in 72 hours, they automatically deny filling the script. Indicated it was to protect seniors. Likewise if not complied within 72 hoursI would be confronted with an appeal further delaying my prescription. It's all orchestrated to deny filling necessary prescriptions. More delays means more profit. I may file a complaint with THE STATE INSURANCE LICENSING DIVISION. KEEP THAT IN MIND AS ONE OF YOUR REMEDIES. I'll be changing companies asap. Run don't walk away from the unconscionable insurance carrier. Look at the reviews mostly 1.
Worse company to deal with! TWO HOURS OF CONSISTENT CALLING BACK JUST TO HEAR BULL$#*!! Trust me the reviews on here are correct! I canceled that $#*! right away! Please save yourself time money and your own insanity and DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY!
First tried our local pharmacy but everything was on back order. So I had an order sent to optumrx, like an idiot, I was sure a bigger Pharmacy would be able to get if faster. Since then it has been a dance with them. Since I canceled the order at OUR LOCAL RX, since script was sent to OptumRX, Then OptumRX went ahead and canceled their order also. Make sense? OptumRx repeatedly said someone from Dr office canceled order@ Optumrx. They than also wanted authorized from Dr office. MA called them but than they stated that no authorization was needed! Nope no one canceled it from Dr or us or local pharmacy! Finally got a hold of the LOCAL pharmacy and talk to the pharmacist there. He said as long as they send him a script he can fill whatever he has. Guess what I just got a notice it's been done so off to the LOCAL pharmacy I go. Poofy on Optumrx!
My insurance company contracted with Optum RX to handle the prescription drug plan and it is a complete S%$#show. Call 5 times and get 5 different answers. One of my prescriptions requires that it be refrigerated and yet they require that it be shipped here to Phoenix, AZ where it's often 115 in the summer. Let's see how this makes any sense, 3 month supply@ approx $900/mo for a grand total of $2700 for my medication. Even though they ship it overnight in a "cold pack", unless you're home right when it arrives, the medication goes bad because it sits in the heat for hours before you can get home to bring it it and never mind the damned "porch pirates" that steal it too. Oh and when it goes bad due to their ignorant shipping requirement, they don't replace it because it's your fault not theirs! When calling customer service, it's a joke and once again everything is pushed back on you... the customer! Customer service representatives also push their corporate dogma and it makes my blood boil. All in all, horrible experience and would give them a negative 5 if I could!
Locked out of my account no service. Told I don't have access. Stinks to high heaven no service. Sends wrong medicine and is impossible to get in touch with.
I have taken maintenance medications most of my adult life. I am not impressed with OptumRx thru United Health Care. They often charge more for medications, mail deliveries are often lost, there is no convenience waiting by the mailbox, and service in general is extremely poor. If you try to fill the typical 90 day supply at your neighborhood pharmacy, they will restrict the fill to 30 days. They will then send you a letter to incite fear and bully you into using their mail order services. They warn you that if you do not use their mail order service that you will pay more for your medication and you only get a few limited courtesy fills through them. GoodRx pricing beats OptumRx nearly every time, it's a free service, and you can fill conveniently on your schedule at your neighborhood pharmacy. When you need your medication or have been given a new prescription from your doctor, it makes no sense waiting for poor mail order service. If I could give OptumRx zero stars, I would. I have no confidence or faith in their services. I speak from years of experience dealing with them.
If I could give 0 stars I would I have been waiting for a shipment from Optum for over 1 month Every week is a new excuse THIS IS INSANE I live in the middle of Manhattan and was told my zip code is closed due to the weather I have received many many shipments none of which is from Optum, they lie Be very careful of them
Use Sinai, they are also a mail order specialty pharmacy that actually delivers on time
My surgeon prescribed me specialty medications over a month ago. I have been calling Optum for weeks, and still have no medications. My doctor has submitted prescriptions and prior authorizations multiple times, Optum has denied me critical medication for surgery (and once again denied the generic version of the same medication Optum themselves recommended). They have sent me automated messages that are cut off and make no sense, lost my billing information, and forgot to ship my critical medications—even after multiple calls asking where my medications are and requesting them to be sent immediately. I have been promised multiple upcoming delivery dates, and when the delivery date comes and goes, I learn they never shipped the medication. I'm still waiting.
Even if your insurance uses Optum and doesn't give you a choice, ask your doctor or nurse which local specialty pharmacy they prefer—and go with them instead. Best decision I've made. It's extremely sad when patients have to beg for their medications. My spouse and I each took a full day off of work just to get the runaround and call them, and STILL we wait for our medications.
My Medicare Plan D insurance provider just switched pharmacy benefit management companies from Express Scripts to OptumRx. Several maintenance medications I was getting from Express Scripts had a copay of $4.15 for 90-day supply. With OptumRx the prices for the same medications and quantity are SEVEN TIMES higher, ranging from $28 to $36. What a rip-off!
This is a real step down from the coverage my State of Alaska insurance used to give. I fear the state is now cutting corners and am worried about where this might lead.
Optum RX is one of the worst customer service experience! English is not the representatives first language... With that being said explaining the problem to the representative is literally impossible... After I would ask a question ⁉ the female rep. Would reply " I don't understand that one"... I'm assuming she meant " my question..." so I would go at it from another angle " reply.
I don't understand that one" she finally said to me your medicine is out of stock!... after I had to spell the medication twice she just didn't understand. We can put it on the waiting list... Now why would I do that? I need this new prescription for a reason. I have had multiple problems with this mail order pharmacy, Optum RX.
Ridiculous! Out of pocket charges. Due to no attempt to notify me., that I needed a prior authorization from my PCP... I'm a nurse and very aware of these procedures... If you don't have to use Optum RX... Well just that. Good luck... I'm truly hoping that an honest review means something...
Medication easily approved by my last pharmacy plan. Optum demanded prior auth, clinical review, 2 week dealy, then they said I should actually use a higher dose, extended release. So I requested that - there IS NO EXTENDED RELEASE VERSION OF THIS MED - it doesn't exist! And the higher dose? They said I have to start the whole auth process over for that, even though they are the ones who recommended it!
I am still waiting on medication to be approved by Sedgwick when it was already approved. The are partners and it should not have to go through another approval process. I have been waiting since April 21st. This whole system is a scam. I already have an account with Optum. Terrible customer service. They are not here for the patient. IF YOU HAVE SOMETHING SERIOUS GOING ON AND NEED THAT MEDICATION, DON'T DEPEND ON THEM. I even asked for the manager and I was on hold for longer than 15 minutes and just hung up. Still no result.
Optum RX is a subsidiary of United Healthcare AARP, who of course want you to get meds from their own company. United Healthcare sets a very high yearly deductible, and Optum RX charges from 4 to 5 times as much as your local pharmacy. A complete, probably illegal way to fleece elderly Americans.
Poor customer service, trying to deny you your medication. It should be against the law for your insurance company to mandate you use this horrible mail in pharmacy.
Their website is SO COMPLICATED. You think a simple re-order and auto shipment of your medication would be easy, no! To make matters worse, the customer service is THE WORST! I was put on hold which is fine I get it, but they don't tell you that your are going to be put on hold and then be bounced around people asking you the same question "What is your first and last name, what is your date of birth". They obviously do not care about their customer service and they are lazy and inconsiderate. I am literally not going to use my company's insurance and buy my so I can avoid optimum RX and SCL health
Need I say more. Avoid using this company if you can. Customer service, web-site, auto answer are so poor. The fish rots from the head down. Replace the head of this company. Must be Frank Burns!
Never have I ever experienced such nonsense as dealing with this company. Total incompetence first order is approved then there is a problem, call to resolve everything okay then again a problem. Ask to speak to supervisor not available after 20 minute wait. Ask for supervisor to call never does. THIS COMPANY SUCKS! AVOID IT! DESERVES NEGATIVE STARS!
Answer: They are a legitimate pharmacy benefits manager for United Healthcare, but their prices and practices leave alot to be desired.
Answer: Don't hold your breath - they are all about money - not customer service
Answer: You can send them a message on their website which they won't even read for days, so it's a useless feature. You can also call them at 1 (800) 356-3477 and sit on hold for 10 minutes before getting a person to talk to. In my experience, calling them has never resolved whatever issue I'm calling about, but you can talk to someone.
Answer: Only bad part of this united plan. Optum is worse than poor. They misplace Rx's and then lie
Optumrx has a rating of 1.1 stars from 464 reviews, indicating that most customers are generally dissatisfied with their purchases. Reviewers dissatisfied with Optumrx most frequently mention customer service, local pharmacy and mail order. Optumrx ranks 8th among Pharmacy sites.
