I really like reading all the posts and interacting with ones that interest me. I've gotten help and advice from neighbors on Nextdoor when I needed it. But I keep getting bumped off from getting the on-going posts. I don't have time to keep emailing the volunteers at Nextdoor who somehow think it's my spam folder or browser at fault (it isn't). I wish I wouldn't keep getting bumped off.
I have been having a bit of trouble with the site. I have moved to a new neighborhood & am using the correct method. I have not been able to close the old neighborhood. I get notifications from the old yet cannot read anything but the entry.
Keeps me informed of neighborhood activities and concerns.
I don't like that I have to sign in EVERY time I open an email. I never had to do that before. I don't know what changed.
And I don't like the advertisements ahead of the messages on the "daily" email.
I would like to see local business review and recommendations to avoid getting ripped off. I can't keep track of the recommendations.
I would like to see people in communities be more willing to help people at no charge for small jobs. (example; change an air filter or replace a sprinkler head) everyone wants to charge ridiculous prices.
I would like to see people be willing to help other people as much as their willing to help animals.
I enjoy a site that serves our Immediate area. I enjoy how the conversations go, on track - off track. I even find the drama interesting, that sometimes occurs, because I am an ole actor and we do a lot of people watching. But I most like how we watch our backs.
I understand the site must have a source of income just as long as it doesn't get overwhelming I get it.
They kicked me off because I violated some policy but never told me what the issue was. They kicked me off because I didn't use my full name but they didn't say how to update my name. I left Facebook because they were also too controlling.
I wrote a post about a crazy woman trespassing on my property, turning on the hose and filling the soil and streets with water. When I started a thread, downtown resident Andrea Jackson called me a bully, coward, and a Karen. When I reported her, the moderators refused to remove her comments. Nextdoor instead gave me a one-month banning for no reason. I can no longer pick-and-choose the neighborhoods to post. When I start a thread, the entire city sees it.
Sharing common problems is important. We learn about surrounding neighborhoods, not just our own. Crime prevention is on all our minds. It's important that our law enforcement agencies are on Nextdoor. It is also a good outreach for our City depts and agencies. Women and men of all backgrounds and origins can share on Nextdoor. I recommend Nextdoor to others as a valuable tool. It's very important that Nextdoor is NOT Facebook.
I was so frustrated with the app that i decided to delete it. Problem is they make things extremely difficult. I get more then 15 junk emails a day from them and i have now "unsubscribed" around 40 times from emails and to this day i believe i am
Recieving even more then before. Beyond frustrating. Not only will i never use this app again but i will not be recommending it to anyone. Thanks for listening!
I was a member of Streetlife which I found really useful and joined Next Door when it took over Streetlife and promptly left 2 days later when I realised there is no privacy or regard for safety. I raised my concerns by email and was dismayed by the responses. They did not want to hear. The more I read the more I distrusted this site and its motives. I joined www.kahuti.com and although in its early phase ( no members yet in my area Portslade) The privacy is good and I think if it grows it will be a good community site.
I did enjoy joining this site initially until neighbors bullied me for my opinion I posted.
From then it ruined my relationships with few neighbors, one without the next door acct actually fought with me with nasty words because gossip started from one with next door account.
This app or site truly failed its purpose.
I post an alert every month of the meeting that the Ward Ten Councilman has on the second Tuesday of every month... every single time, I am reported as it "violates their neighborhood policy" whatever that means...
I have attempted to complain to the leads, and have been utterly ignored at every turn.
Don't waste your time.
Shove your rainbow agenda and massive censoring of any type of conservative view. This site is barely good for buying and selling. If it is good for anything it is good for your local neighborhood watch
STAY AWAY:
Using the site compromises your safety (privacy) and pits neighbor against neighbor
Heated debate on school name change fueled hatred and fake racism.
Scammers use the site to promote fake donation solicitations.
Site encouraged illegal commercial sized bake sale.
Kids used the site to play pranks.
No 1800 human # = no credibility.
Political leanings (left) cloud decisions.
Arbitrary decisions = no credibility.
Retaliation = bad customer service.
Lying to customers on the above = bad business model.
I've had great luck finding housemates and people to do various kinds of work for me, especially yardwork. Also good to find out about local things happening. I've also been frustrated at how some people take over threads and make rude and obnoxious comments and the leads never seem to do anything about it.
Nextdoor is more like a gofundme page not a neighbor help neighbor and a leftest platform.
They will eliminate anyone who doesn't agree with there platform without a fair discussion, a guilty and no chance to prove your point.
Have we once again been suckered into giving up our personal information? Remember, if you're not the customer, you're the product! Memo to Next Door: If you want my info, let's discuss the terms if it's so valuable to you.
They tell you to sign up to find out what's going on in your neighborhood. They don't tell you that your personal info (name & address) is made available to not just people in your neighborhood, but people from every neighborhood! They don't even need your address to find out who you are. All they need to do is click on a house on the map and they'll be able to immediately see your name & address.
Another crock of crap is if you want to look at recent activity posts, good luck since all neighborhoods are grouped together. I don't care what's happening in a neighborhood miles away!
They demand you use your real full name without an option for a username. VERY UNSAFE, rapists are someone's neighbor! They should be reported to the BBB for unsafe website! Expecially for single women or women with kids who live alone. Shame on you nextdoor for not practicing safety first!
Answer: The negative reviews are honest reactions to being duped into sharing too much personal information (that Nextdoor now owns and will NEVER delete and will continue to sell to advertisers until your dying day) to join a site that seems friendly on the surface, but which does NOTHING to protect users. I was bullied by a convicted murderer, who is a Lead in my neighborhood--and I was banned from the site for complaining. Leads are nothing more than early adopters of the site who have been assigned power over other users so that Nextdoor does not have to police it's own site. In short: No. The negative reviews are not wrong. Heed them! I wish I had known before it was too late!
Answer: Forget about nextdoor and leads. Get a life, a real one. Don't waste your time with toxic online communities that tend to get the worst out of people. My advise is run away while you still have some dignity left.
Answer: Kay is right. That is their policy. However, don't expect them to hold to it. We have leads unfairly removing only some people's comments and Nextdoor does nothing about it. Best bet, dump nextdoor.
Answer: Neighborhood. Rocks is in development. Another 6 months.
Answer: Truth is like oil and water. As long as the scam artist have enough venture capital (other people's money) they will continue to shake the bottle leaving it a murky view obscuring the truth. Run out of cash, they'll be exposed for the incompetent boobs they are and the top dogs will clear out their bank accounts and move on to the next scam. One look at their "leading edge tech" pulled right out of the 1980's is proof enough they will die in the tar pits just like the fellow dinosaurs. Want a state of the art app? Check out https://wiggio.com or www.neighborhoodlink.com
Answer: Dallas, SiteJabber rates it at 16%. It would surely rate lower if there weren't so many fake positive reviews. Folks review Nextdoor either 1 or 5. The fives read like ads about Nextdoor's features and potential. The ones are written by real people and give accounts of how awful their experiences were.
Answer: Several other reviewers on this site have had the same thing happen to them. We have been fully banned from nextdoor (beyond just "suspension"), but they keep our profiles, and sometimes our names still appear in the neighbor registry. They refuse to remove us fully, I suppose, in an attempt to misrepresent our endorsement and participation there. It's clearly unethical, but their TOS states that they can do this, as any nd apologist will point out.
Answer: Here's a tidy answer from corporate... Hi Colleen, Thanks for getting back to me. Our Community Guidelines prohibit posting about Lead activity on the main newsfeed. If your Leads are inactivate and youre concerned about moderation in your neighborhood, you should reach out directly to Nextdoor Support. If you have any specific concerns I can help you with at this time, please let me know. Best, Amanda Nextdoor However, the minute you alert corporate to issues with leads in your community you'll find your account terminated. They are very protective of the information surrounding who really is controlling the activities on the boards. Most people in my community are under the misguided impression that corporate is in control. They don't even consider it is their neighbor who sits in judgement.
Answer: Nextdoor wants your full legal name, house number and address and your email address that they link all together. As an added bonus... They have a little map that you can click on. That way if, OMG, you offend someone the little map leads them straight to your house. Run, do not walk, away from this site. No good comes from Nextdoor.
Answer: Your name and address will be known to everyone who uses the NextDoor application and website. I don't suggest using it. I recently discovered that low income apartments in ghetto areas might be able to use the application to do crime. Car theft, asaaults, kidnapping and just about everything else under the sun.
