Excellent for finding lost animals and warnings about the location of coyotes.
Excellent for informing us about local crimes.
Terrible for angry people who should be on meds.
Terrible for those who feel the need to express their political beliefs.
Terrible for those who put down others.
Perhaps some rules for use could be implemented more strongly with those who break the rules losing the privilege of the site.
The site, at least to me, does not seem user friendly. I am a "snowbird" and have trouble with having two accounts, in the two different states in which I reside. I have given up several times trying.
Nextdoor outsources community moderation which ends in disastrous results.
Want to report child abuse that you personally suffered by a private school that wants to purchase property in your community? BANNED!
Our lead is mentally imbalanced, a liar and insatiably nosy. I know her personally and the woman desperately needs attention and recognition. She is over-the-top crazy and paranoid. I caught her lying about someone publicly on the site, called her on it, so she retaliated by deleting my account.
We could not be happier with our new beautiful closet from American Built In Closets in Sunrise, FL. Perry and his team were professional, on time, responsible, and helped us a lot in designing our closet. I have referred a friend and will continue to do so. Thank you American Built In Closets!
You know, if it wasn't that other innocent human beings interact through your platform, it would be nice that Nextdoor because as forgotten as yahoo messenger and other platforms. You think you run a tight ship, but what you are doing is running yourselves to the ground. All your pride, all your detachment from society, as if you're a supreme being, will all come to an end. And your suits and arrogance will become your shame. You cannot hide behind a screen and numbers forever. Your shame, your folly will be brought to judgment. God sees who you are, and even if you try not believe, judgment day is here. So, keep acting in error and absolute vulgarity and you will see how soon the curtain that separates you from the world will be removed and punishment rain down on you like painful rain. So, keep it up for sure soon you will be brought abysmally low.
Very convenient way to contact neighbors - learn what is new. From traffic accidents to avoid, sell something, giving someone asssistance, recommending a place to go, eat, etc.
What I DO NOT like is people "venting" -- this is not a political forum.
I was using this app to post conservative politics, politely doing so. Liberals and leftists didn't like my posts and were very rude about it but Nextdoor suppressed my account by reprimanding me? Go figure. I don't recommend this app to neighbors or neighborhood. They aren't fair, they are more like Twitter, Facebook, Google, etc. Activists. Very poor management of their product. Leftists were allowed to insult the President but I was not allowed to post my conservative posts. Hmmmm
When I block and mute someone I no longer see their post. However, they can see my post and they can also comment on my post. I don't see it but others have sent me screenshots and I also see others responses to them. Very frustrating! I have emailed this to support but never received more than acknowledgment of my email.
Fck nextdoor.com... specifically the Philadelphia one. Every time I turn around my account is being disabled now, for nothing. I am being targeted. They're trying to be like fbook disabling people... well I hope they get disabled one day.
First of all, this scam of an idea uses all your private info to make a buck or two. However, the biggest problem of all is that it is a place for neighborhood bullies to make control grabs and then try to control people who disagree with them. It is a joke. During my short-lived membership, I watched innocent people get badmouthed and banned by people who badmouth freely. I went to several review sites and read all the horror stories. I am done.
I read both positive and negative reviews, but I cannot comment on these.
I can comment on the site's "sign-up" process/policy, which was a miserable failure for me. It was WAY to personal and WAY over the line in the information they requested/demanded. In attempting to sign up {failed} I also found the "marketing" practices discouraging, out of date and NOT within the norm of on-line practices.
I was attempting to sign up to offer an extremely positive view of a tradesman I retained who is signed up with the site. But I as mentioned the sign up failed.
This is my review and as they say, "first impressions" are everything, in building expectations and establising image.
Some good and some not so good. Once people arguing on Nextdoor. I have gotten so many good people from asking on Nextdoor. I would like to know how to take mine off when I have no need for it to be on there. Mostly I like the experience. Just my opinions!
Overall, I like the resource and have gotten some great info and recommendations. The only problem I have is with the back and forth fighting and the overly critical replies making me often reluctant to post.
Without any supervision, people can accuse others without any burden of proof, and/or publish pictures of them without permission. This can be extremely damaging to the reputation of others, without a real way to address the perpetrator, of contact the app/company.
I have found that if you don't have to respond to a comment you are better off! If you make a statement that others disagree with, you will be blocked from the conversation! It is a pretty sad situation that only one way thinking is the only answer!
Hi, overall, it's ok Andi. I don't like that posts get deleted. I can understand obvious mean posts but most of the time something is deleted, it doesn't seem controversial. I hate that I can't renew my classified ad each week to keep it fresh. Craig's list allows this. Actually, classifieds are only good for 1 week unless you renew it with the link they send when it's posted. So I do use Craig's list more to sell my things. Also, I feel like I should be able to join other neighborhoods besides mine. Also, Sometimes it's really hard to find older posts. The search engine isn't great. What I do like is the connection I feel to my town. I have learned so much about my town through NextDoor. Thx
I have tried to get my email on the site. I received your email about the survey without any problems.
I never get any emails about the neighborhood or next door.
I used to get email every day. I don't understand what is happening.
I truly regret trying this before reading the reviews. Nextdoor is truly a spying and chain letter platform. Please don't make the same mistake. We have a commercial in-home server system with commercial software. We are able to block ads. We can ID what ad server spies use and then collect data after we block them. Works GREAT! Blocked literally millions of ads. First Nextdoor spys on you to target ads. Pretty normal. What makes them stand out is the sheer volume of the ads. In 6 hours before I deactivated, I said deactivate not remove (another story) In 6 hours we blocked 5396 ads from the Nextdoor ad server. Not many can have a commercial in-home server system. We can get statistics. Nextdoor takes the cake when serving up ads compared to others. Lol. I also dislike the "chain letter" marketing by Nextdoor acquiring your contacts. Once they have them, they have them forever. In addition, the site itself is mediocre. But that is my opinion. If you read this review stay as far away from Nextdoor as possible! Conversely if you like social media of any stripe give them a try.
All people do is act like children and tell on you if you have a strong opinion and they dont agree with it. I got kicked out for 15 days and was given no explanation at all. The admins are a joke and hide in the back waiting for an opportunity to block someone. They are all a bunch of $#*!s if you ask me.
Answer: The negative reviews are honest reactions to being duped into sharing too much personal information (that Nextdoor now owns and will NEVER delete and will continue to sell to advertisers until your dying day) to join a site that seems friendly on the surface, but which does NOTHING to protect users. I was bullied by a convicted murderer, who is a Lead in my neighborhood--and I was banned from the site for complaining. Leads are nothing more than early adopters of the site who have been assigned power over other users so that Nextdoor does not have to police it's own site. In short: No. The negative reviews are not wrong. Heed them! I wish I had known before it was too late!
Answer: Forget about nextdoor and leads. Get a life, a real one. Don't waste your time with toxic online communities that tend to get the worst out of people. My advise is run away while you still have some dignity left.
Answer: Kay is right. That is their policy. However, don't expect them to hold to it. We have leads unfairly removing only some people's comments and Nextdoor does nothing about it. Best bet, dump nextdoor.
Answer: Neighborhood. Rocks is in development. Another 6 months.
Answer: Truth is like oil and water. As long as the scam artist have enough venture capital (other people's money) they will continue to shake the bottle leaving it a murky view obscuring the truth. Run out of cash, they'll be exposed for the incompetent boobs they are and the top dogs will clear out their bank accounts and move on to the next scam. One look at their "leading edge tech" pulled right out of the 1980's is proof enough they will die in the tar pits just like the fellow dinosaurs. Want a state of the art app? Check out https://wiggio.com or www.neighborhoodlink.com
Answer: Dallas, SiteJabber rates it at 16%. It would surely rate lower if there weren't so many fake positive reviews. Folks review Nextdoor either 1 or 5. The fives read like ads about Nextdoor's features and potential. The ones are written by real people and give accounts of how awful their experiences were.
Answer: Several other reviewers on this site have had the same thing happen to them. We have been fully banned from nextdoor (beyond just "suspension"), but they keep our profiles, and sometimes our names still appear in the neighbor registry. They refuse to remove us fully, I suppose, in an attempt to misrepresent our endorsement and participation there. It's clearly unethical, but their TOS states that they can do this, as any nd apologist will point out.
Answer: Here's a tidy answer from corporate... Hi Colleen, Thanks for getting back to me. Our Community Guidelines prohibit posting about Lead activity on the main newsfeed. If your Leads are inactivate and youre concerned about moderation in your neighborhood, you should reach out directly to Nextdoor Support. If you have any specific concerns I can help you with at this time, please let me know. Best, Amanda Nextdoor However, the minute you alert corporate to issues with leads in your community you'll find your account terminated. They are very protective of the information surrounding who really is controlling the activities on the boards. Most people in my community are under the misguided impression that corporate is in control. They don't even consider it is their neighbor who sits in judgement.
Answer: Nextdoor wants your full legal name, house number and address and your email address that they link all together. As an added bonus... They have a little map that you can click on. That way if, OMG, you offend someone the little map leads them straight to your house. Run, do not walk, away from this site. No good comes from Nextdoor.
Answer: Your name and address will be known to everyone who uses the NextDoor application and website. I don't suggest using it. I recently discovered that low income apartments in ghetto areas might be able to use the application to do crime. Car theft, asaaults, kidnapping and just about everything else under the sun.
