Good Place

I bought Rico plasticover reeds, bg swabs, and some cork grease for my saxophone. 2 Packages arrived, 1 for the body swab, and the other for the cork grease reeds and neck swab. The 2nd package, unfortunately, was damaged at the top of the box but all the items came in perfect condition.

Charged multiple times for the same order
March 2, 2021

On Feb 25 I ordered a pair of Zildjian Planet Z hihats. I received the product in just a few days. However when I looked at my Musicians Friend charge account online, they charged me twice on the same day for the same order. In addition, it shows they have pending three (3) more charges of same amount on the same date. They are trying to charge me 5x for the same order.

RIP OFF

They ship crap. Avoid this place at all costs. They half price junk and send to you. The tuner is no working. No sound from electronics. Smells like someone pissed in it.

Not new merchandise, used junk

Terrible experience trying to buy a new Fender Strat and Marshall amp. Long story short, I tried buying a "new and ready to ship" guitar 3 separate times and all 3 were used display models from Guitar Center stores that were damaged and missing parts. The amp was also a used floor model from the store with cosmetic damages.
The sales reps were really nice, apologized and promised each time that the next item would be a new one. They also give you their direct contact info but it's impossible to actually reach them directly (they don't respond to emails, no call backs, etc). I had to charge my credit card for each item since they can't just exchange it and took weeks for each charge to get refunded. There's also no way to speak to anyone in management or complain if something goes wrong.
What a terrible company. Had these bad online experiences with both Guitar Center and Musicians Friend (same company). They just try and unload all their used junk from the Guitar Center stores. Shop somewhere else!

I purchased a Tascam DP-32 and was told that the extended warranty for 89.99 covered replacement and shipping for 3 years. The rep lied as the warranty does not cover replacement of the unit even within a few months. The unit has to be shipped to them, the manufactuer, to them and then back to me. No integrity, management was useless. Since the takover some years ago, this company has declined dramatically. I am never shopping there again.

Non returnable

I bought a conga stand and it didn't fit my drum and they wouldn't send me a return label Sweetwater does this no problem I have bought a lot from Musicsns friends and will not be a customer because of this no return policy if there is nothing wrong with your purchase too bad I liked all the other stuff I purchased. Don't buy from them

Rude customer service. Ordered from them, shipping on one item was fast and the other two didn't come. I called and they said the other two were on backorder and wouldn't ship for 2 months. I had to cancel.

Bait and switch
August 21, 2020

Beware of their "bait and switch" Stupid Deal of the Day.
I tried to order the SDOTD which was an Cordoba mini bass discounted from $299 to $129 when if first came on my email this morning. However I was redirected to a 12 string. When I called and texted MF they advised me the item was sold out, but when I checked online it was available at $299.

My son broke a string on the guitar. Ordered a pretty common 3-pack of guitar stings. The site suggested it would take a few days to process the order. It took 52 days to get the string to me. Like seriously - almost 2 full months. For guitar strings.

After two weeks of waiting with no meaningful updates, I had to order it elsewhere. But you can't cancel the order and guitar strings are not returnable. They just take your money and maybe some day in your lifetime, you may just get your purchase.

Never again will I do business with MusiciansFriend (they should be honest with themselves and accept the rebranding of MusciansFoe).

I trust musiciansfriend to give me the most bang for my buck. I've bought a lot of music gear from this site, along with the rest of my band and out of all the gear we have, the only problem that occured was electrical problems in my Epiphone G400. This has nothing to do with musiciansfriend compared to Gibson/Epiphone manifacturing. Still, this is one of the best music gear sites out there.

No respect. Customer service could be intimidated by email... they make mistakes and they do'nt follow the the policies of shipping of the company... is a company full of lies if your hispanic... don't buy to these people... i had a situation with a store manager that he broke all rules and the revenge for my complain and a gear advisor send a email with restrictions to my order? No more for me this place... Guitar Center is of the same company when this people get hard feelings... because you notice the different treatment in hispanic people... i'm puertorican... to my people... never buy in this place. When they give you a promise... tell them that you want it by email because they are short of memory at the end... they do whathever they want with customers and is imposible talk with a supervisor.TO MY PEOPLE HISPANIC don't think is this people for your instruments... this place is full of lies!

I ordered the wrong size and only wanted to exchange. I read the return policy and knew in advance the return shipping was on me. No problem. However after contacting customer service to get a return code I was told it was a non returnable item due to its nature. (violin shoulder rest)
It was still in the unopened box! I mean gosh they get the item back before refunding or exchanging to see if its been used or not. I advise if you purchase you ask first about its returnability. NO where in my item description did it state it was an unreturnable item. NO where in the return policy was it listed as one of the unreturnable items. Their bragging point is their return policy is the best. So not true.

Terrible Customer Service!
October 14, 2022

Ordered an Apple mini recording studio for birthday gift. Signed up for credit card and rewards. Received a call from agent on Tuesday stating that the ordered was processed and will be delivered next Monday. I checked the order status on Thursday for tracking and saw that my ordered was cancelled! What? I contacted the store on Friday morning and a guy with horrible customer service stated sorry, we don't have that item, and transferred me to another agent. Did not offer any resolution to help. I left a message with the girl who told me my item shipped and would be there Monday. No return call. I chatted with agent, Hanna B, who refused to help and did not provide a credit, voucher, or offer to make it right. The item is still listed on their website, however, it's now $600 more than what I paid during a sale weekend! They should have sent me the item, regardless of the price went up or if it was a different model. I asked for a voucher for the difference and she said no because the manufacturer doesn't participate in their "deals". I told her that I don't care about the manufacture and their deals…. I purchased from MUSICIANS FRIEND AND THEY need to make it right! When I asked for a supervisor or email for corporate, she disconnected the chat. Horrible

I ordered and paid for a brand new Fender Mustang from Musician's Friend. Instead, they shipped me a previously opened and damaged guitar that had obviously been returned by someone else. They wanted me to ship it back and AFTER they received they would process sending the replacement amounting to several weeks delay AFTER I had already paid for it! It took speaking to a supervisor to get it resolved.

No guitar for Christmas
December 7, 2020

I ordered a guitar on November 25th I had to contact them by November 6th to find out that the item was backordered until January 2nd. This is the most unprofessional customer service I have ever received. Their inability to reach out and let me know that my item was backordered prevented me from being able to purchase a guitar and get it to my home on time for Christmas, thus I have to explain to one of the most important people in my life why there's no Christmas gift for their under the Christmas tree. Never buy anything from musicians friend ever, plenty of other good music sellers out there who will take care of you.

Ordered on the 14th. Slill in "processing" on the 20th. They had 5 business days so I called the 800 number to cancel. The operator was totally oblivious to the fact it had not even been picked or shipped[they can only charge you when it ships... so I knew] but instead insisted I could not cancel because it was "probably" going to ship later that day. Next day still in "processing". But by then I had stopped payment. And I went on "chat" and nicely told them what I did and why. Over the past 15? Yrs or so I had spent thousands there but the quality of service and especially shipping has gone way downhill. The kicker was when during the conversation I told "phone-man" that AMS usually delivered next day and that Sweetwater usually 2 or 3 days... he told me impossible, no way, and that's not true. Basically calling me a Lier. That was the proverbial straw that led to freezing the account and severing ties forever.

Garbage company

I literally spent hours upon hours attempting to contact somone about a digital download. MF continued to gaslight me and tell me i should receive a download code within the first 24 hours. Then the story was, since I ordered on a sunday give it 42 hours. Then the story was I had the wrong shipping address? (its a digital download and my shipping address was correct when they read it back) so after 80 hours of waiting I finally get someone that tells me, "well we can just cancel this order and order it again" I stated, "fine" cause we had already come this far. They cancelled my order, kept my money on hold, then i got disconected so they didnt even order it again. I then finally got another person on the phone after 35 more minutes waiting for an agent for them to say we cancelled your order. I said yes, now I want you to reorder it to which they state, "oh were sorry thats out of stock"... GARBAGE COMPANY.

Terrible customer service and liars
November 24, 2021

They tell you and then let you purchase items listed as IN STOCK, ready to ship, and then upon email confirmation it is mentioned that expected shipping date is five moths from now (25 April 2022).
I called back to cancel order and upgraded to a more expensive item that I was assured to be in stock (after a few minutes wait, to check and verify availability).
After completion of order the status of order in my account was listed as "PROCESSING".
The next day i checked and the status was changed to "BACK ORDERED"
I called again to hear they are so sorry for the inconvenience, but item expected by end April 2022.
Terrible liars, no other excuse for this.
Twice on same day.

Shady dealings
February 17, 2022

I purchased a bass pedal using presidents day discount code from site email. After several days i saw no movement or tracking info.so i contacted them. They said alls good. It will ship 2day. It did not. So i contacted them again & they said 2marro definately. Dont worry. I waited till next day... then recieved a cancellation email. I contacted them AGAIN. Now the story turns into they cant locate pedal to ship it... meanwhile its still listed IN STOCK READY TO SHIP. Even now days later. Still in stock. So either they decided not to honor the discount or something. If its still in stock ready to ship. Or if you pay full price they have it. Otherwise someones going to go thru same situation as me as well... they need to change the site listing or they just lied plain & simple. Its a tama power glide 900 bass drum pedal 229$. Ill drop a screenshot of listing in stock still. Thanks

Tried to order the stupid deal of the day for the sigam and they said my card was declined lol i have a musiciansfriend card and how can it be declined. They just didnt want to honor their price. Lol buyer beware would never order from them. Ordered from amazon and got it in 2 days... musiciansfriend is fake and buyer beware,
