Just a crooked company. Lies about things just so they benefit from your misfortune. I was on a 3 months COVID relief plan because my wife lost her job. I was told by them that I could still make whatever payments I could while on the plan. So st the end it wouldn't be too bad. I did what I could. After the forbearance was up I was than hit with well because you made an effort to make some payments that cancelled out the relief plan so now I'm told I need to come up with the full amount or get hit with late fees and a hit on my credit. Just a total greedy dishonest company. Who cares nothing about anyone.

For the past several years I have been making extra payments toward principal every month, anywhere from $300 to $600 in order to pay off loan since we will retire soon. Last month I paid an additional $900 toward the principal and for the SECOND time, it was applied to the escrow account instead, even though we don't owe anything in escrow. We have had 2 other homes/mortgage companies in the past and never had to deal with this level of incompetence. I can't wait to pay Mr. Cooper off and get them out of my life.

Absolutely Horrible Experience
August 4, 2022

When Mr Cooper took over our mortgage I was skeptical. What an odd name for a mortgage company. At first everything was smooth. We were set up for weekly payments and Mr Cooper went and picked up everything automatically, debited our account as the previous mortgage company did. They also have a great feature to see how much more you need to pay to pay off your mortgage earlier. I thought, why not? Sounds good to me. So I added to our monthly amount. Next thing I get is a cancellation notice from Mr Cooper cancelling our weekly payment. After speaking to 3 different people, they could not reinstate our weekly payment. We only have bi-monthly and monthly payments options, they said. I said if their website was clearer I would not have added that additional money to auto payment. They were not willing to cancel the additional payment amount, nor willing to help me with my questions. They also could not explain why my next payment was going to be further delayed by 2 months, putting us behind in our mortgage by 2 months! Horrible customer service, horrible company, horrible business practices.

"MR. Cooper" bought out my loan from another company. I told them I was moving prior to them assuming my loan, they still cant give me a payoff after 4 days-they originally said I could get it Aug 1st, then the 5th, now the 6th, With today's technology, they should be able to have this on day one.

Justice
August 2, 2022

One star is a joke! Where is the justice or the Justice Department?! I have talked to ten customer service personal, ten different responses. Not to mention a crooked legal department. I can't believe that the management is out there, free!

This is a very difficult system Mr. Cooper has. If you can go somewhere else. No one answers, if they do it takes a good 45 minutes. We were sent a letter about our insurance, we had to change. We sent our new insurance and a month later we found out it wasn't accepted. No reason why, no explanation, just go to the website and send it. As I tried to find out, it literally took me 2 hours to find out the names didn't match. Not so hard right? We sent a fax, but it takes three days to confirm if a fax was sent... so it just continues. The madness.

I was selling my house and it was going to go past the date of my next payment. So I called them up and they said don't worry about it that there would be no late fees. Since I had never paid late before. Then right before my house closed they charged me late fees and lied to me. Don't trust this company they're always doing some shifty stuff.

So Disgusting
July 28, 2022

I just had the most crazy "Fight" with this little boy Nathan who worked as a Mr. Cooper representative. When I stated this whole thing was "Ugly" he asked if I had "looked in a mirror lately"... Then told me he could talk to anyone anyway he wanted to. I asked for his supervisor, he refused.
What a gross company. The only reason they have business is they buy loans, and force people to deal with this trash. I would NEVER recommend using this company if you have any say in the matter.

My mortgage was SOLD to Mr. Cooper from Victorian Finance. VF should be very ashamed of themselves for using Mr. C. YOU CANNOT TALK TO A HUMAN. Ever. Very frustrating. They send you letters but you cannot respond to a person to find out WTAF they are talking about. DON'T even consider using them.

I have dealt with Nationstar/Mr Cooper for years and never had an issue till now. I've been trying to resolve the non payment of my property taxes from my escrow account since April. Every time I call I get a different person and have to start all over. After several calls and on line chat nobody has done what they promised. I've been passed on to different departments and followed instructions to no avail. I don't know what else to do other than BBB or FTC. Very frustrated and Angry at this point. Nobody acknowledges e mail or responds. Nobody calls back or follows up. I am disgusted.

A Nightmare
July 7, 2022

Our mortgage was sold to Mr. Cooper and it's been a nightmare ever since. It takes them over a week to take our mortgage payment out of our bank account. Several times, we have not realized it hasn't come out yet and end up over drafting our account or having to pay a fee from our bank for insufficient funds. We changed from automatic payments to selecting the date hoping this would fix the issue. It hasn't. Currently, our mortgage payment STILL has not come out of our bank account and it's the 7th of the month. With our previous mortgage company, it was out by the 2nd or 3rd business day like clockwork. It's maddening to think you have paid your mortgage and have plenty of funds left over only to realize it actually hasn't come out yet, and you've over-drafted your account because you moved that extra to savings or paid for something you might not have otherwise purchased. We've reached out to customer service multiple times about this and nothing. TERRIBLE company and wish we were still under our previous mortgage company.

My problems are similar to everyone here and they started when my loan was sold to Mr. Cooper. How does that even happen without a home owner's acknowledgment or consent? I am going to file a lawsuit against them. Has anyone else tried this route? It amazes me that so many people (basically anyone who has done business with them) have complaints. Are all Lakeview Loans' servicers this bad? Why are they (Cooper and Lakeview) still able to do business? Absolutely unacceptable.

Don't know how it resolves, but they are currently "dragging their feet" on giving me a timely response to a very simple query I have in with them about a discrepancy in our refunded escrow funds amount Vs. the last shown balance (we recently paid off our loan.)

Basically, they just keep shooting me "we are looking into it" responses. There might be a legitimate reason that our refund was smaller than our escrow balance but they won't tell me, easily.

I've opened a consumer complaint with the Texas Attorney General's office. This (company's state Attorney General's office) is by far the most effective way to get some results when filing a valid complaint about a business. The BBB, not so much. In my experience, once the AG contacts them, they jump. Mr. Cooper though, may be different.

These guys bought our loan so we had no choice, but going forward, I surely wouldn't consider them for a loan. No "proof of purchase" as I don't want to include personal info.

My loan was transferred from company A to Mr. Cooper. During the transfer, they got typed my name wrong through Company A clearly provided the correct name. After repeated calls and agent agreeing to correct the name, they still have not corrected and keep asking me to send proof. Why should I send proof for their mistake and their customer care is like parrot repeating the same answer.

A Nightmare

This place is a nightmare come true. Customer service (more specifically, lack thereof) is a joke. Getting a human (as opposed to a bot or automated prompts) is next to impossible unless you want to spend several hours of your life on hold. When you do get a person, good luck getting any info. Two people will tell two different things. You'll get more satisfaction watching paint dry than you will from this (expletives deleted) second rate mortgage company.

Requested the payoff on my loan because they didn't want to bother with a refi there wasn't enough money in it for them, ok fine now you will get zero-interest for the next ten years from me. They sent me the documentation finally for the payoff I received it on a Monday and paid off the entire amount via wire transfer the very next day. Then they called and said they were short because of hazard ins the day after I paid it off so I said ok let me pay that." Well, we cant tell you what that amount is yet and we are going to charge you 8 plus dollars a day interest until we process a payoff again." Until then they are charging me 4.75 percent on my payoff amount that they already have via wire transfer. Now I am understanding why they changed their name from Nationstar to Mr. Cooper. Sorry, but you can't hide your negative reputation by a name change. Working with you has felt slimy and I will NEVER again have anything to do with Mr. Cooper. Also I see all the bad reviews about customer service they were the only decent part of working with Mr. Cooper, unfortunately, you have them hogtied with a money-grubbing shifty process on the back end that gives zero sh#t about the customer and expects them to color it beautiful, impossible task! Good riddance to the worst Mortgage Company I have ever worked with!.

Want to submit an extra principal payment? Too bad. It'll get applied as a normal monthly payment anyway, despite your clear selection of "extra principal" on the web site.
