I've been using Match for about two years and I must say I'm very pleased with their service. They have a large user base, and the website is simple to navigate. I was looking for a relationship but didn't want to get hurt again, so I tried online dating sites. In my opinion, Match Online Dating Sites is by far the best online dating site. They have many users from all over the world who are very friendly and easygoing!
Do not join this site they are just out to take advantage of people. Didn't meet anyone had a scammer contact me to try and get me to send him money. Plus they keep taking the money out of your account without contacting you even thou I was clearly not using there 'services' (I use that word very loosely) Do not waste your time or money
You can not reach match customer service people directly. These are the people who can actually fix stuff on your account. There is an intermediary group of people that you can call by phone but they have no power over your account. So when there is something wrong with your account, you have no ability to reach them and you are at their mercy to answer. My account has been locked over a week and they cant do anything about it and will not respond even though i called and emailed many times. Its a scam... stay away.
Was onsite for about 1.5 years and ran into nothing but men who lied about their age, height, what they wanted and so forth. Plus I had many men who would not stop contacting me even when I asked nicely and then blocked them and they still got through. Complained to match and they would not do anything. My last disaster with this site is when I met a man who literally was a pathological liar....lied about education, his previous relationships and lied about what he wanted ....saying he was looking for a relationship. I felt his profile was too good to be true and I was absolutely correct. Ladies....please don't fall for these conniving, cheating jerks!! I should have listen to my instincts but I had a few good friends review this idiots profile and they thought he looked legit. Anyway, so long to match forever
This is my second time on match.com. I was on Match about 3 years ago and met no one then after talking to a neighbor decided to join again right before my subscription was cancelled (I didn't want it anymore) there was a sign that said 3 months for the price of one when I went to click on it to read more it auto renewed my membership for 3 months. I have met absolutely no one, every guy on there is shallow and want someone who's thin blonde hair and blue eyes. Of the fifty men I've messaged I've only gotten one or two responses back and they both say the same thing they don't wish to do chat. Match.com is a scam and the biggest waste of money since EHarmony. Do yourself a favor and go anywhere else.
This site is basically a scam. They lure you in to buy extra stuff that doesn't help you at all. And when you have a problem customer service really sucks. I will warn everyone I know to stay away from match.com
I signed up in mid Jan and up to now have had over 1000 views but not one email. Doesn't do a lot for ones self esteem! Lol I also get winks on my phone and show their profile yet they don't show on my ipad?
I sometimes wonder if my profile is even on there and the views are just a scam. I don't be renewing when the subscription runs out :(
It's great if you pay for a membership and the person you want to meet also has a membership otherwise he or she will not be able to reply to your message. And they charge way too much in my opinion! There are people that run scams on the site. One time, I talked to a woman who allegedly lived in the next town from me but when I was emailing her she was on a work trip in Nigeria. If you don't know about the money order scammers in Nigeria, now you do. She said she was robbed and lost her passport and wanted to send me a money order, cash it and then send her a check. I told her to go to the American consulate and she didn't think that was a good idea! REALLY? Plus the picture 'she' used ended up being the same pic that I saw on other people's profiles. I think if Match is going to charge people then they should police their site better.
While this review is about Match, it could easily apply to really any pay dating site. There's a wealth of profiles, but many of them appear to be inactive. I presume this is to inflate membership numbers. I feel like it's deceptive to call people who can't actively communicate via the site "members", since the ultimate purpose of the site is communication. As a paying member, there's still ads on the site, which I take issue with.
I've sent out over 100 messages in two months and in that time I had one. Just one woman message me back only to say she wasn't interested. The app is a complete waste of money and time and unless you are a female I feel like it will really ruin your self confidence level. I mean I don't try to message women that are out of my league I'm 5'9 with what I assume are average looks and an average body and normal hobbies and interests I have a car and my own place and I'm a supervisor at a retail store and I even graduated college so when I don't get a single message back from anyone it is really confusing. I've tried short messages, longer messages, and no response.
I joined match and created a profile I then logged out. When I tried to log back in I got a screen to verify my phone number. When I put in my phone number I got an error message that they could not verify my number. I tried many times and always got the error message. I contacted their customer care support department many times and got very little response. When I finally got an email that the problem had been resolved I tried again and got the same error message. I have been locked out of my account since I created it and not help. They don't have any phone number to call and don't answer emails promptly nor fix the problem but THEY WILL STEAL YOUR MONEY AND NOT REFUND YOU WHEN THEY DON'T PROVIDE THE SERVICE YOU PAID FOR. This site is as big a scam as any on the internet.
This site will not refund your money even though they can see that you have had no activity and are only a member for 9 days of the three months subscription. So you get to continue to pay for the remaining 3 months and get nothing in return.
Joined this site 6 months ago. Got the distinct impression most of the members that contacted me were not "real" people. Was contacted by scammers 3 times & when I hit the "do not renew" it renewed me anyway! Evidently u have to do something else to cancel your membership besides WHAT their site tells u to do, as it was explained to me by their inept customer service. I was so angry that I didn't here what that second statement was. When I argued and demanded a refund (2 days later since the last day was on a weekend and their customer service is closed over weekends) Their only explanation for no refund is "it is our policy". This site should be SHUT down!
I am a member of this site, but i wont be renewing as i have found it to be poor, first of all you feel like a robot going through the same thing every time and when you find what you want you wink, then it gets boring cos you keep winking to different people and nothing ever happens even when you send text. Not an easy site to navigate around as you cant find a complaints department to do that, they dont seem to have one
After signing on with Match.com, yet again, I realised I'd been conned, and sent the following e-mail:
"When I looked at the site, it showed there were 2 winks (with one blurred photo) and 1 favourite. But when I paid my subscription, there were no winks and no favourites.
As far as I'm concerned, you have induced me to rejoin the site under false pretences, which is both immoral and illegal.
Unless I receive a quick response and a refund, I will be contacting Trading Standards and the police, as well as broadcasting my experience as widely as possible on social media – Twitter, Facebook, YouTube etc etc."
I'd be glad if you could let me know if others have contacted you about this particular scam, designed to suck people in.
I've also sent a copy to PayPal, and await responses!
I signed up for their trial period only to find that the so called trial period only lets you view profiles and receive a message. You could not answer the person unless you joined and paid. I became a bit suspicious by this practice because a trial period is supposed to let you try the product or service free with no restrictions. I began to look at reviews and, on average, they could not even get a 2 star rating. There were numerous complaints about fraud, stealing identities, horrendous customer service, and lack of monitoring the site.
Prior to your joining anything, look at the online reviews first and go to more than one site for reviews. Remember, the more reviews, the better information for you. If there are just a few reviews and they are glowing, stay away. Something isn't right.
I chose this site specifically for the 6 month guarantee(pay for 6, get six free) as it was a much better deal then other sites. After fulfilling the terms of the 6 month guarantee I received a Visa bill for $163. I called the company and they informed me that a pop-up should have shown after fulfilling the agreement and I was to click on it. There was no such pop-up. I assumed at the time that when seeing the three highlighted green check-marks on the page stating I had fulfilled my agreement that the guarantee was automatic. No such thing, I am now $163 dollars down and I don't even use the site anymore as I found someone on another site. When speaking with customer care you can tell that this is an on going thing so beware. The site over all is ok just be sure to call them right away after 6 months for your guarantee. Gotta give it to them though. It's a great way to rip people off.
Half the women' profiles are fake, another 25% are scammers and it gets really frustrating very quickly when nobody seems interested in you. The six month guarantee is not a money back guarantee, but a guarantee for six more months of pounding sand. Be careful! If you do not follow their guarantee guidelines, it will be void and you will be automatically billed again.
They have a very good marketing campaign, but don't be fooled. Chances are you will just be another victim.
A friend did take me to one of their "Stir" events. Interesting to actually see the real people of Match.com in person. Nobody says a word until people get drunk, then they act like fools, the women leave and so does everyone else.
I have a basic membership with Match.com. In order to look at the profiles of people that have "liked" me, I have to upgrade and pay more money. Other dating sites don't have this crazy "rules". Do yourself a favor if you are interested in on-line dating, go to another site. The only reason I gave a 1 star is because there was no option to give a 0 star.
Scam! They will send these emails of 'interested" people that would "like" you or want to email you. As soon as you sign up. POOF! No more email, likes. You may get a "wink" once you click on the profile. Is n longer there.
Some real people but lost of fake..
Answer: I was unable to get a refund but I dispute the transaction and got my money back that way. I said it was because they were not providing the service they claim to offer. If you can dispute with your bank just tell them you didn't authorize the transaction and the company refuses to refund you. Good luck.
Answer: No I would not trust it. There are scammers on there. They will tell you want you want to here. They are from another country. Look for key words such as widoer, contractor, travel, one child only. They will compliment you right off the bat about your smile. Not safe. Try another site.
Answer: Back in the 1980s, strip clubs were pulling all sorts of over charge and fake charge scams and forcing people tp pay. Here in Atlanta a majpr federal case against the GOLD CLUB brought all that to light and alot of changes were made in the industry... I BRING THAT UP BECAUSE... these social sites seem to be attempting the same types of scams and are getting away with it. By U.S. fedeal standars ALL THESE SITES FALL UNDER THE RACKETEERING STATUTE. Unfortunately there is NO enforcement of these laws at this time. Your best option is to dispute the entire charge with your credit card. They may not want to do this because they are seeing so much of it. BE FIRM AND INSIST IT IS A MATTER OF CREDIT FRAUD. Also be sure to indicate that you are filling a consumer notice with the Federal Trade Commision (they have online forms for this to keep a numbers count on how many people are affected by these sorts of things. www.FTC.org). If you have been a good card holder, you shouldnt have any issues except for 1: ALL THESE SITES ARE NOTORIOUS FOR REBILLING/DRAFTING YOUR CREDIT ACCOUNT. You may want to file a COMPROMISED CREDIT CARD CLAIM AT THE TIME OF THE DISPUTE and have your card issuer SEND YOU A REPLACEMENT CARD WITH A NEW CARD NUMBER.
Answer: You will have a hard time getting your money back Terri. The first time I was with them years ago, I forgot the auto renewal and tried to get my money back and they fought me tooth and nail. This time I tried both Ourtime and Match and both experiences were not good though Ourtime was a bit better. I agree with some of the answers here that Match baits you toward the end of your subscription with possible contacts, but since I cannot proof that I have to add that disclaimer. Everything you have run into with your experience I have had with mine.
Answer: You likely signed up for auto-renewal, which Match.com doesn't explicitly tell you out-right that it will auto-renew. You will not likely get a refund back for the month they charged you. However, go to your account's settings and cancel the feature ASAP. You will still have access for the month in question, but at least you will have stopped future withdrawals.
Answer: Give them a call... they always have something to scam people about...
Answer: Cancel the card you used when you joined.
Answer: That is an extra fare item and they charge you each time. Best to do your own searches and replies...
Answer: Too much don't do it!
Answer: I feel the same way Teresa, i have been on the site for 1 year now and cancelled my subscription, but was told it won't officially cancel until May because i waited to late after my initial sign up day, so i got stuck with another year. I am a handsome guy with a lot to offer, but for some reason never really got emails as i expected, i started to think the people profiles were fake or the women i was interested in didn't know a good man if his profiled slapped them in the face, just sayN. 41, recently divorced for little over a year, highly educated, working in my profession, make close to six figures, single, don't cheat, great personality, smart, don't play, and real down to earth... but i guess no one believed it or didn't like my handsome picks... IDK. Confused!
