No complaint about the ride, but when there was (still is) a billing problem, their service sucks. They have no phone number and will not call, so you are stuck with emails, which don't resolve the problem. Finally I complained to the Better Business Bureau - and Lyft replied misrepresenting both the problem and their response. So this is no longer just bad service, but goes beyond that to misrepresentation.
Caught a ride 2/16/24, My wife and I were in wheelchairs and the driver charged for wait time. I called when in the waiting area. Mohammed was the driver. We forgot coats coming back from Costa Rica and told him we were cold. I asked him to close the driver side window which he did and then rolled it back down a few inches. He then rolled the passenger side window down 3" or 4" blowing on both my wife and myself. I asked him again to roll up the windows which he did on the passenger side. The driver side was still down 3" to 4". His car was filthy dirty with stuff laying around. Spill marks on the back of his seat counsel and floor. It had not been cleaned for a long time. Seats were ripped and torn with no attempt to repair. This driver is not a good example for Lyft. His radio was playing a witchcraft station or recording with little consideration for passengers' ideals.
I was at the ER due to a fall. Needed a ride home, phone has low battery….
I create account, add in credit card, book ride. Easy enough, NOT! 2 drivers within a few minutes of me are assigned my ride and both cancelled! I was furious
Lyft's customer service team is the worst of any ride-sharing/ taxi company.
Lyft "Support" acknowledged to me via email that my driver's car was in a DANGEROUS condition, putting my life in danger. It as so bad that I even had to shower when I got to my destination as the air-con was broken.
Despite this acknowledgement of negligence, Lyft said they would still charge me the FULL fare, I was not entitled to any refund, full or partial.
In other words, "we are happy to charge you the full amount for completely unsatisfactory service".
Responses from the Lyft "Support" team illustrate that the are uneducated and lack any morals. I'm not sure how these people can sleep at night.
What sort of company operates like this?
Ride with any other company, avoid Lyft.
Lyft sucks! They will terminate you as a driver for no reason and no notice in advance. When you ask "Why", they will send you an email full of lies. Stay away from Lyft. They are very shady, dishonest, and unprofessional. They steal earnings from their drivers and they cheat their customers as well. Use or apply at Uber, Sidecar or even a taxi instead. I've had awful experience with them.
The customer service rep is very short and disgustingly rude! Called about a charge of $150 on my acct and I was in 18 hours away in another state when the charges were made and the nasty rep kept dismissing me basically saying it's not their problem and to put a password on my phone. Disgusting
Need I say more? My friends asked me to meet them at an event. They were unable to pick me up. Downloaded the app, fiddled with all the credit card info, etc.
App could not find me or my destination worth a $#*!. Completely missed the event.
Lyft - You suck
Pretty good but they are like the downgraded version of uber, cars are a little bit more old and you can tell that they are still figuring it out. I would travel in pairs as it the drivers can be somewhat weird. Not bad on pricing, good if you can't get a taxi.
Well i was suppose to get 1000 bonus after 100 rides if i got them in 30 days, so i got them in 2 weeks, than instead they said i would get 250 and i never got that either. And my app quits on me. Its hard to get ahold of anyone. This company doesn't care about there drivers at all. I have all 5 star rating until today and my app stop working. And they decided to flag my account.
This company should not be in…
This company should not be in business! They don't even deserve one star! Their customer service is full of excuses on why they they operate the way they do. I know not all have had a bad experience, but ours was the worst! When you plan a pick up with lyft a couple days in advance, pay 150.00 for seating at an event, all packed and ready to be picked up, and as the app sends texts "driver on the way" excited about your first lyft experience and event you had planned weeks in advance, and then nobody shows up,,,, well thats why ours was the worst fail from a company. And like I said, the company was full of excuses of why it all happened, and even tried to put it on us, saying, "we sent you a cancellation". Ya they sure did, 50 minutes after our scheduled pick up time. If you don't have more control on how you operate and service your customers, you need not be in business! Never again!
Love using Uber, but decided to check out Lyft because you save a couple of dollars. Horrible experience! Uber is so dependable. Whatever Uber says on the app, estimated time of arrival, etc., is within a minute, always. Stood outside the Smithsonian Museum of natural history, battery dying, booked a ride with Lyft. A message popped up, saying that they booked the ride, but they are "looking for a driver to confirm. Give us one minute." Those messages kept coming and coming and coming, and after 25 minutes, I canceled the trip and booked another. The same thing! Having wasted 45 minutes waiting for a ride I switched to Uber. Should've done that sooner! I've included a photo of me standing in front of the museum, waiting for a ride
Lyft was used twice now for medical transportation to my physical therapy. I had knee surgery and am using a walker.
Neither time was I ever contacted by Lyft or the drivers as to eta, description of driver ir vehicles, etc.
The first time when I called "where's my ride", the driver told them I was a no show.
Today when I called "where's my ride", the driver told them I was picked up and was on my way to my appointment.
Are you kidding me?
Due to their lack of consideration, lying, etc. I've had to cancel and reschedule not only physical therapy appointments but follow up appointment with my doctor, which has set me back weeks.
They are not a reliable company that has no regard or consideration for customers and they do not communicate basic information.
I do NOT recommend Lyft to anybody! I would give them 0 stars if that was an option.
TERRIBLE DONT USE LYFT I had an awful experience on holiday is New York City, coming from another country to a huge city and the driver dumps me at the wrong place, and drives off. Then when I call to say please take me to where I asked for he yells at me and in short says no.
THEN on contacting customer service which isn't easy by the way. The person tells me the driver was right. And the drop off was within a mile. It wasn't. Not. Even. Close try other side of manhattan.
I showed proof using google maps to then be told that I could've put a different address in google and am lying.
So I was lost, late for my tour, anxious in a strange city, charged $25 to go to the wrong place. Then had to pay double to get back to where I was supposed to go.
Refund? Oh no. Because I'm a liar.
So much for caring about our safety!
DON'T USE LYFT especially if you're in unfamiliar places!
I am a long time user and I am very disappointed in Lyft! They charged an extra charge for "damage" for having some mud on your feet, which I don't think is justified on a day where it rained and the driver knows that the pick up is in a park, in addition to being late to pick us up and missing the train. The fine was almost the double than the ride fee. If they will be this exigent with the clients, please also be so with the drivers. Please be consistent. For an extra charge you lost 4 customers. Very bad experience in Toronto, Canada.
Lyft is a neat new ride sharing service that works like a taxi but an ordinary person drives you around. I tried it for the first time last week and it was a lot of fun and a good deal. It's a little bit cheaper than a taxi. The slightly odd part is that you're not supposed to sit in the back seat instead you sit in the front seat and talk to the driver just like it were your friend. My driver was cool so I didn't mind but I could imagine it could be weird with a bad driver. Anyhow it's a nice service and worth trying!
Warning!
If you update your payment information on your Lyft account, they will deduct $25 from your account and hold it until you use their services. Whatever is left over will be credited to your Lyft account.
Just imagine if all companies were allowed to do this. Seems to be a slippery slope to me.
The Lyft drivers are awesome, this isn't a bad company, but holding my money hostage until I use your services isn't cool at all. It's borderline criminal.
I started driving with Lyft with a feeling of optimism and now I wish I never had. First of all the pay is not very good at all after you calculate gas and wear tear and taxes. Honestly I think I'd do better at most entry level jobs. They try to lure you into different areas with higher pay percentages but when you arrive in them they either take away the increased percentage or you get a ride just outside of this area. But aside from the pathetic pay the worst thing about Lyft is the absolutely horrible support they offer for their drivers. They consistently take days to reply and even then they usually don't do anything to resolve this issue. Seriously the worst experience I've ever had with any company ever. Don't believe me? Download the app and try to contact them. Then delete the app and forget any notions you ever had of driving for them. You can thank me later
I took a $6 rise and they charged me $15 twice. I called and asked about the charges and they told me it's them just check to see if I have enough for the ride. But really? So you charge $15 twice for it? And they said I would have to wait 3-5 business days for it to refund in my account now let's say I was in a emergency and I needed that money. How are you going to tell me I have to wait a certain amount of days to get money that I already earned? They help themselves to your bank account I'm very displeased. And as for safety. They let an Lyft drive pick me up in a whole different car that was not register for Lyft and there was also another person in the car which made e feel extra uncomfortable. Lyft is just terrible I will no longer be continuing business with them. I will now use Uber although it's a bit more complicating and expensive I'll take that over someone charging my card to whatever amount they want.
I ride Lyft every Monday, Wednesday, and Thursday around 7:30 in the morning since October 2022. Yesterday i signed up for a ride and it said my price was $7.67...the price I normally pay. I had 2 drivers cancelled on me and then the price goes up to $18.99. There was no bad weather and I was late to work because of this. So now my ride money for the week was spent on that one ride to work and I was told that I do not qualify for a refund. So it's cool to penalize me for their company's and employees' mistakes? I honestly think I need to find new transportation because I don't want them to steal my money again.
My last ride with them deserves zero Stars. I booked a ride at One price and was billed another. When I booked my ride I was told the car would arrive in 11 to 15 minutes, it actually took 1 hour and 54 minutes for a car to finally arrive. Three drivers canceled all of this after I received the 3-minute warning and then again the one minute warning which says be outside your driver is pulling up. They never came. I've been trying for three whole days to reach someone at Lyft for them to correct the price and make me feel valued as a customer. None of which has happened. I have been told we will take care of this for you we will refund the ride. Initially I didn't expect to have the whole ride refunded I expected a discount and a satisfactory apology. After speaking with the last chat agent I have reached my limit. They are not worthy of me as a customer. They are the absolute worst. There motto should be we are Lyft, we don't work for you, but you will definitely wait for us.
Answer: They randomly out of the blue deactivated my account. This was there explanation. We found your account to be violating our Terms of Service and you will no longer be able to use the Lyft platform. I can honestly I have not violated anything so clearly there is something wrong with there information but the worst thing is they dont even tell you what the problem is. Oh well guess take my business to uber instead.
Answer: Lft runs different promotions and depending on promotion they promise a signup bonus(500-1100$). Now if they really pay the bonus it's totally up to their discretion.in my case they didn't pay. I completed the 60 Rides required in the first 30 days, which was the requirment to qualify for the bonus but they still didn't pay. After a brief email exchange with a lyft employee(they do not give their position or full name) they stopped answering. Now I am filing a complain with BBB and I will let you know where it goes when I have updates.
Answer: Lyft's customer service is terrible. If they won't correct it, file a dispute with your credit card company.
Lyft has a rating of 1.4 stars from 906 reviews, indicating that most customers are generally dissatisfied with their purchases. Reviewers dissatisfied with Lyft most frequently mention customer service, credit card and phone number. Lyft ranks 32nd among Car Sharing sites.
