I got the Shoebacca deal, a $60 coupon for $30 (i. E. $30 off of shoes) and when I went to use the coupon it wouldn't work, the first time because it wasn't for an order larger than $60. I didn't care if I didn't get a few dollars back, it would have been fine. But it wouldn't work on $59.99 shoes. There were no terms on the voucher about a "minimum purchase," only that "Entire value must be used in one visit," implying the full amount would be used up regardless of the total. Their legal team needs to get with the proper legal language and make the terms clear before purchasing their "deals". They did answer my email within 24 hours, but it was full of "tips" that I should buy something that totaled over $60. It's not okay to have customer service tell someone this specific of a term of the deal afterwards. I used a Citibank virtual number on my account with LiviingSocial so only one purchase per virtual number. No worry about anyone having your real number. If any other purchases try to be made to that number, they won't go through, and the bank will catch it immediately and do its own investigation. I also had to remove the hyphen in the voucher number to finally get it to work.

I "bought" the Amazon deal ($10 for $20 at Amazon) and never received a confirmation. When I'd go to look at my account it kept saying they'd process the charge within one day. They even have a note on their Help site dedicated specifically to the Amazon deal. Anyway, after a bunch of emails back and forth they say they can't find my account - nevermind I can login and see it just fine and have purchased many things from them - and for me to call. So I call and as I do so I login to my Living Social Account and gee, the Amazon purchase has disappeared. They tell me my credit card was declined - impossible since it has a zero balance - and that yesterday was the last day to resolve any issues. How convenient for them. If it was declined why wasn't I ever notified? And why, until yesterday was it showing up under Purchased Deals in my account? They gave me a $10 credit with Living Social but that doesn't get me $20 at Amazon now, does it?

I just got a call from Visa Fraud Dept on the same card (it's not used for every day transactions either), saying that and online purchase was attempted this morning at Bed, Bath & Beyond & there's an approved pending amount of $1 on my account. Of course I will not know the full amount that charges until it hits my actual bank, then I can dispute it, and they will refund it, but still this is a hassle. I'm more than anything believing this is linked to when I bought the Amazon gift card from Living Social. I didn't have a good feeling about it, as I'd never heard of that company, but still did it. Now... the hassle. Ugh! Just letting you know... watch your bank statements in case the Fraud folks at your bank don't see it.

Such a rip!
February 3, 2011

Such a rip! I purchased a message deal for my friend and I and when I went to redeem it, they said the first opening for living social customers was in May-- that's 4 months away. Oh, and the certificate expires in May. So I called living social and asked what happens if I can't make the appointment and they tell me that there are no other appointments. They answer, "well you can try and redeem it now." Great help. This is so disappointing and I will NEVER get duped by them again.

Beware, ordered and then they cancelled my purchase without notifying me. Had a group going, all went through until I had referred 3 people to get one ticket free, then it got cancelled, and now they won't honor the sale. This site might work if you pay full price, but if you send the link to others (I sent to 4 people who purchased) but they don't want to give the "if 3 buy you get it free" deal, so they cancelled mine but charged all my referrals. Sketchy company, and no customer service, will not stand behind anything. I asked to speak to a manger and was told there was no manager in today...

Living Social won't last long if it continues to have such poor attitudes towards customer service. The very deal that propelled it into the news (plus that heavy investment from Amazon) also created a whole lot of upset customers. Couples who followed the "1 per person" deal - each having their own LS, FB and amazon accounts, were accused by the company of attempting to defraud Living Social and had their deals cancelled. We were one of them. Being in the same room when we saw the deal, we both used the same credit card (NOT against the rules). When we received the email accusing us and canceling one of the two deals, they didn't ask us for proof prior to just denying us. We offered proof and they ignored our email.

After a week of being strung along with customer service, the phone lines simply hanging up on people, and going back and forth with customer service, they finally offered us 10 "deal bucks" - worthless to us as we now have no faith in buying anything through them.

To accuse a customer of fraud is horrible. To then offer poor customer service and say they are out of luck because the transaction was canceled is just unacceptable. Go check out the review page on their facebook page - they aren't making a whole lot of friends.

I just received a call from my credit card company of fraudulent activity on my CC yesterday out of NY. I live in Michigan. I only made two online purchases in the last month. One was the Amazon Livingsocial deal. I would suggest that everyone watch their statements for unauthorized activity. My card is being closed out due to the fraud.

I just did an internet search and found that other people are having similar issues since making the purchase for this deal.

I had the worst experience with this BS website I entered some info in incorrectly and instead of notifying me they let time expire and I lost the deal... So then I called customer service and they did nothing but give me the "too bad so sad bye bye" additude I will never use this service again and recommend if you do be VERY diligent entering in your Info... Better yet don't use it at all...

I bought the $10 for $20 amazon card, and then my credit card company sent me new cards 2 days later saying that my data was compromised. I didn't get hit with fraudulent charges, but a lot of other people did. LivingSocial needs to cop up to their bad website security.

I bought Amazon gift card coupon and cancelled it right away because I realized it is for US customers only. Cancellation seemed to be processed okay but I found that they charged to my credit card.

I sent an email and posted the complaint at their web site. It's been almost a week but I didn't receive any answer from them.

This is a worst experience with a web site.

Here's the response to my initial request for a refund when the deal offered wasn't being honored by the restaurant (8/3/10).

Here are the subsequent emails I've sent, attached to the original helpdesk ticket number. I have received NO response since this first one above. HORRIBLE customer service.

Please respond to this request! I need a refund for this purchase STAT! This will be the fourth request. Come on.

Also, I am not able to log into my Living Social account without logging in through Facebook. I have deactivated my facebook account, and would like to keep it this way. How can I access my Living Social account without logging into facebook, which basically re-activates my account each time?

Seriously. Are you going for the worst customer service of all the group deal companies? My god, can I please get some assistance for these things?

I am trying to log into my account. It will not let me log in unless I go through Facebook, an account that no longer exists. HOW DO I ACCESS MY ACCOUNT.

Oh yeah. And I would like to request, for the fifth time, a refund for the issue listed below.

Here is my number. Email responses obviously are not your method of choice in fixing customer issues.

I've had a terrible time trying to contact Customer Service. After waiting more than 5 days for an email, they sent me a generic email saying that I tried to make more than 1 purchase (Amazon gift card) which isn't true if they bothered to read my email. I'm not asking for the Amazon GC because I know it's probably NOT going to happen. I just want my questions answered. And after I posted that review on their FB, they started to answer my questions.

I still wasn't able to get the Amazon GC. I got some of my questions answered. Not as directly as I would like, but I don't expect much from them.

I also got 3 different answers as to why my order was canceled. The answers contradicted each other. It makes it sounds like they're making up reasons as tow why my order was canceled or beating around the bush because they don't want to admit they made a mistake. I'm still not sure why it was canceled, but there's no way to get the GC.

Customer Service could use a lot of improvement. I never got a reply to my emails that I sent a week ago. I didn't get replies to my Tweets either. And I had to be very proactive on Facebook to get a private message. I had to directly ask for a PM. They need to work on their customer service. Their FB says they will respond to emails within 24-48 hours. Not true. They need edit that or add a disclaimer.

I am definitely not a fan. I purchased two deals, but after I purchased them I was unable to log into the website because I kept receiving error messages when I tried to go to the log in page (something I tried to do from five different PCs). I thought maybe the problem had to do with too much web traffic from the amazon.com deal, but that was not the case.

I called customer service today to tell them I was not able to get to the log-in page on the website. Whenever I clicked on the link that said 'login' I was given an error message. I could view the current days deal, the help pages, the how it works page, the press page, etc., but the site would not bring me to the log in page no matter what I tried. I tried for two days and finally decided I should call and see if there is a problem with the webpage.

The first solution I was given was to create a second account so that the CS representative could merge my two accounts. I'm not sure how that would have helped considering I was getting an error message and wasn't able to even try to enter my login information. The second solution I was given was to download a different browser, like Google Chrome (not something I'm interested in doing, nor should I have to in order to use a website that allowed me to enter my credit card information just days before).

I ended up asking for refunds on both of the deals I purchased which I was told they would do, although they could not give me any sort of confirmation number. And I also asked that my account be deleted (again, no actual confirmation was received, but the CS rep I spoke to said it was deleted).

Definitely will not be using this site again and do not recommend it. Use trusted sites like buywithme.com or groupon.com instead.

I had the same experience with the Living Social Amazon deal as everyone else. This is how it felt: Living Social wanted to make a bunch of money. So they did this deal with Amazon, and they didn't really care how their customers were treated. They were not prepared for the traffic or the business. They didn't have enough people to respond to all the phone calls or emails. As a result of not putting their customers first, they have damaged their brand and credibility and now they are scrambling to make up for it.

Regarding the Amazon Gift Card offer for 10 dollars get 20 worth of credit. After I purchased there was a url to send to friends so that if 3 friends purchased you would get the card free. I sent out an email to friends and family in my address book with the url and I know of 4 purchases made from people I spoke with. I sent an email to customer service on Sunday - I was allowing them time because I felt they were overwhelmed with the response but didn't get back an autoreply or any acknowledgement. Called today and spoke with a cust service rep who located my email and said there was nothing he could do because it did not show that they purchased with my referral link. I am upset because I copied and pasted the referral link in my email that they provided. There may have been a glitch with there system. Luckily it is only 10 dollars and I got the credit which was a good deal in itself. But I certainly am upset about the principal of the thing. I am glad that this wasn't an expensive purchase. I won't do business with them again and I plan to tell everyone I know about my experience.

My complaint is that I referred 3 friends and used the provided links
For those friends to purchase the deal - I was still charged. Living
Social claims that they did not use the correct link - this is a
Ridiculous statement since I saw all 3 of my friends at work
Purchasing the deal with my provided link.
I have purchased multiple deals with Living Social in the past, but if
They do not resolve this purchase issue I will no longer be an active
Customer.

Tried to get in on the amazon gift card deal.
They advertised that if you can get 3 people to purchase through a referral link, the deal is free!

I received the 3 referrals and was about to get my $20 GC for free.
But then, this company cancelled my deal, with no authorization, and no reason for doing so.

Tried calling them, nothing they can do, blah blah. Offered my some of their imaginary money. Useless. This is a sketchy sketchy company. I am very upset that they already have my name, CC# and email address.

Avoid this website!

Well, so far I have used them twice.

The first time was when I signed up and I asked a question about the storage and security of my credit card and I got no response back for a week.

The second time- I purchased something and was immediately charged to my credit card. NEVER RECEIVED proof of purchase, never received item that I bought.

Two complaints in to this company and so far no response.

The person from Lving Social who responded that bad customer service is unusual is- well- lying through their teeth.

NOW TODAY I have to waste my valuable time reporting fraud and perhaps even having to change my credit card number. Thanks you mother f-ers/

STAY AWAY FROM THIS COMPANY. STAY AWAY.
