I am very disappointed. I bought a deal a while ago, and I've been trying to redeem it... the first time I went, the store owner said they're closed for the day due to gas stove related problems. Second time I went, THE WHOLE STORE WENT OUT OF BUSINESS.

I've been trying to get in contact with LivingSocial for a refund. I've went to their website and submitted an inquiry. The automated email promised a promptly response within 2 business days. I've waited for over a week now and still haven't receive a response. I am very infuriated. Living Social is an upset to customer's loyalty.

I have only bought one living social deal, within a day of buying it I removed myself from their email lists, my experience got that bad that quick! I bought the deal without researching the company first, my mistake. The deal was for a massage. Instantly there were problems trying to use my deal, I made about 10 phone calls to make an appointment. Either no on answered or the phone call was dropped, on their end. So I contacted living social right away, making 10 phone calls to schedule one appointment is not okay. And no response whatsoever! Really? Since I was getting no where with a refund I had to go through with the deal. If you read the fine print they will only issue a refund within 10 days of purchase. In my case, I bought the deal on Friday, got the deal on Monday, 2 days have already passed, then the scheduling nightmare took the rest of my refund time frame. Not to mention living social will not respond to me. How sad. I think they will be out of business very quickly with such limited polices, along with horrible vendors (not positive but not sure this massage place was even licensed!) living social does not stand a chance. Horrible horrible site, do not waste your time. We have had great success with Groupon however!

I was looking for a site to save money but all I ever got from LivingSocial.com (among the rich?) were totally money-wasters such as vacations in Hawaii and weekends at the spa, not to mention things like the so-called Brazilian blowout hair treatment which has been heavily discredited for being toxic to your health. Finally, one day I was emailed a deal that promised 4 movie tickets for $20 "at any theater of your choice." After getting the deal I waited 24 hrs (?) just to get another email saying that my deal would be available... within 24 hrs. At the end it was 3 days before I could get the tickets and they were only good at a theater that was a good 40 min away from my home. I live in Houston and wanted to see 'The Kings' Speech'--I should have been able to see the film at my local theater. This was deceptive advertisement, and given my one and only experience with LivingSocial I've unsubscribed and would definitely not recommend it to anyone. They don't care about the quality of their offers or the credibility of the companies they offer their deals through.

I ordered a deal from Heartland Auto Detailers for half-off auto detailing. After purchasing the deal, the retailer pulled their contact info off of their website and the business was unlisted. Living Social eventually refunded my money but they should have vetted the business a bit more before allowing them to sell 388 deals.

Paid $90 for a one hour hot air balloon ride Livingsocial.com (Value $180). Unfortunately all the weekends were sold out by the time I wanted to book. That was unfortunate. But what was even more unfortunate was the retail price for midweek hot air balloon rides were $90 each! This is fraud. Thats how much I paid for my special "discounted" Livingsocial rate! No where on the offer does it say that the value is for weekends only or that they sold more coupons than they had available spots on the weekend. Rip-off. Next letter is to attorney generals office

Living Social's concept isn't novel - it's more or less the same as Groupon or Town Hog, etc. But, in general, my experiences have not been as good with this site as they have been with others. Their "refer 3, get yours free" promotion is a fantastic idea but in practice, seems to be little more than a PR stunt. Refunds for referring three people are slow to be processed, if they actually ever are.

What's more troubling about this company is that its customer service is unresponsive and, seemingly, apathetic to customer concerns. Case in point, I recently booked a trip to Yosemite through Living Social. For several days after I purchased the deal, I emailed and tried to call the hotel - the Groveland - to make reservations. Finally, on the fifth day, I was able to reach someone. By then, the hotel was booked until October and then only for a Sunday/Monday trip in a room with two twin beds. Turns out, the hotel basically blocked a few dates for these deals and sold an unlimited number of deals. This was not represented in the fine print from Living Social (which, if you ask me, is in itself pretty unscrupulous). And, for the past week, I have tried to contact Living Social regarding my concerns about the Yosemite trip to no avail; my emails have been unreturned and my phone calls unanswered.

In short, as one of a myriad of deal sites, it's best to stay away from Living Social. Find your deal somewhere else.

They promise "deal bucks" if you refer friends through a referral link, but they did not give you the credit for these referral purchases even though I verified each and every purchase through my referral link.

My emails to customer service were never returned - apart from the generic "we'll get back to you in two days" which they never did - even after repeated emails. Also, their customer service number looks to be discontinued as of 3/14/11.

I'll stick with the many other competing deal sites instead of Living Social.

I purchased a hotel deal and when I called the hotel, the reservation people tried to put limits on when we could make reservations (there was nothing about this on the deal). I called Living Social and someone picked up within a few rings and refunded my money no problem! The customer service person was friendly and I was very pleased that there were no hassles with the refund.

My niece purchased a massage (Beck and Call) for a gift for me. But I cannot go online as they direct and make an appt and when you call, you cannot speak to a "real" person to help you. Only text messages, and no matter how much you plead for them to call you... they will not. It is impossible for me to book a massage.

This site is the biggest joke... Ya they give you a deal but watch your bank account or credit cards because you WILL have fraud done to you... I just got a phone call from my back because of possible fraud activity on my account and needed to call to clear things up. Well there was some clearing up to do. I live in South Texas and have NEVER EVER been to Atlanta, GA. I had quite a few (more then 5) charges done on my account.

Have even emailed the vendor and no response from them either. I want my 50 bucks back this is ridiculous and I don't have time for it. Will be disputing the charge with my bank.

I've purchased many coupons and used them with no problem. This past summer I purchased 2 coupons to Town Tavern in NYC. When I went to use them, the bar had been closed for business. I contacted Living Social about this on 7/19/10 and they wrote back that my account would be credited within a 3-5 business days. It was not, so I called and they said a physical check would be issued to my home address. I never received anything from them. On 10/5/10 I responded to the original help email saying I did not receive my check- no response. I called in January and was told my information was being given to a supervisor (whom they would not let me speak to) and they would get back to me about the situation. Never a response. Today, 3/7/11, I called in the morning, was put on hold and eventually hung up on. Called again, was told there was a note on my file that a supervisor was looking into my situation, to leave a voicemail for this supervisor with my contact info- I left the voicemail. Waited a couple hours, then called again and asked to be put through to a supervisor right away. They said sure, then put me on hold for 20 minutes. I called back 1 more time & when they picked up and heard my voice they hung up right away. I never once got rude, raised my voice or gave them any reason to treat me this way. I guess I've lost that $40 forever, but I've also lost confidence in a company I used and referred people to dozens of times (including this morning). What a terrible way to run what looks to be the next huge. Com company. I will discontinue my account with them.

I purchased a Living Social escape to Cancun for my honeymoon and immediately placed my reservations for spring break and booked my flights. Because of the drug violence, we became concerned and emailed living social to inquire about possibly changing our reservations. I asked them to please contact me so I would know my options.

Two days went by and I didn't hear from them. I called and left a message at the local number, and said to forget about it, we'll still go on the trip as planned. My husband called the 1-800 living social number a few hours later to confirm our reservations. They confirmed with him on the phone.

About an hour later I contacted the hotel directly for transportation arrangements. I first wanted to confirm the reservations with the hotel just to make sure. They said my reservations had been canceled the day prior by Living Social and Living Social would be the only ones to help. Unfortunately it was Friday night and Living Social is closed until Monday.

Now my weekend is ruined because I don't know what we're going to do about our honeymoon and can't get answers until Monday. I've already paid for the hotel and plane tickets, so I'm out of the money too. No one had the authority to cancel our reservation and no one from Living Social notified us of the cancellation. What if we didn't confirm directly with the hotel and showed up and our reservation was gone?

This is something we were so excited about and have worked so hard for. Now we're stuck for a couple more days without answers and no honeymoon. I hope Living Social can help straighten this out and get us on our honeymoon as planned. There are no more of the suites we purchased left, and we have to go that week since I've paid a good chunk of money for plane tickets.

Living Social, if you're reading this, please help!

I bought one one living social deal for me and for my daughter. They gave me only one certificate and will do nothing about it. I contacted them as soon as I got the certificate noting the "error" but got no reply from customer service. Wrote again and got no reply. Finally called and was told " sorry, the deal is closed". I would not buy from them again. Now that i have gone to this site and see that others have had problems with credit cards, I plan to let all my friends know that Living social is not the way to go!

I purchased a LS voucher for a massage/facial in Portland. I had my appointment but when I got back to my car and could see the time I suspected that the appointment had been cut short (60 minutes instead of 90 minutes). Unfortunately, I did not have a copy of my voucher with me (having given it to the salon) and thought that I perhaps had misread the deal, so I decided to wait until I could verify the offer to complain. Sure enough, when I looked at the deal again that afternoon I had been short-changed on time. So I called the salon (fed to voicemail, where I left a message) then sent them an email explaining the discrepancy and asking them to make amends. (I wasn't asking that they refund my voucher but rather that they give me an extra 30 minutes on my next massage.) No response. So I sent in an email request via the LS site -- after several days of no response, I called this morning and asked what my options were. Was told that there was nothing they could do to ensure that the vendor fulfilled the obligations of the voucher and that I was on my own. ("Customer Advocate" my@$$.) Looks like my only option is to dispute the whole thing with my credit card company. What a nightmare!

I am in the process of using livingsocial right now as a merchant. So I can only review from this side of it. But at this point it has been good. The contact person I have been dealing with has been very nice, responds to calls and emails, came to my salon to sit in the chairs and check it all out, and has checked on me since my deal ran. I will admit that he suggested that my deal would not do quite as well as it would if I added a second service (I ran a pedicure deal and he suggested a manicure/pedicure deal), so I did not put a "cap" on my sales. My deal ran from Friday morning through Sunday and I sold WAY more than I ever imagined. I wish that somewhere in my deal summary it would have let consumers know that I am a one woman salon - I do all pedicures myself therefore the people who purchased six for them and their five friends - I can only do two of them at a time. This has caused some irritation in the clients. BUT at the same time, there was a clear link to my website for the consumer, that does explain my salon and situtation - so they should have checked. All of my contact and location information was correct, so no complaint there. Clients have been scheduling and coming in well, but I am still waiting to be paid. They are still within the "15 business days" but by that time, I will have accepted quite a few of these vouchers - I really really hope that I receive a check pretty close to that 15 business day cut off. I will post more once I have a check in my hand... or if I never get one. But again, so far so good. I have brought a lot of new faces into my salon and some have already re-booked to pay full prices on services.

I love this website
March 2, 2011

I love this website. I have never had any problems and have made lots of purchases. It's become part of my morning routine to check what deals are offered today and sometime post the link to my FaceBook for others to enjoy. I would love to buy stock in this company, I think it's here to stay and will thrive!

So far I've used the site twice, once for the Amazon gift card, and today for the Fandango $9 pair of movie tickets deal. I love this site, but then again, I'm only going for the deals on big names without middle-man companies, so I can't attest to the legitimacy of these smaller company deals. With the Amazon card, I got a confirmation email immediately, got the promo code within 48 hours, used the promo within the week, and it went off without a hitch.

Today I've bought the fandango code, I got the confirmation email right away, and now I'm just waiting the 48 hours for the promo code to come. I don't see it having any problems so far. Honestly, I think a lot of the complaints I've seen come from the consumers rather than Living Social.

Hadn't seen any positive reviews on here, so I figured I'd throw in my two cents as I've had a good experience thus far. It's a young company trying to establish itself, it's going to have a few bugs now and again. A few people are falling through the cracks, and they're the ones who are going to make a fuss and make it look like EVERYONE is having a hard time. Just wanted to show that not everyone is getting the short end of the stick.

So,
March 1, 2011

So,

When I sent them an email making an enquiry on the free deal when three mates buy- They reponded the next day. When I sent them an email requesting an immediate refund- NOTHING!

I want my money back and they have still to get back to me... what options do I have apart from taking it straight to the relevant authorities (Fairtrading Australia).

I really don't want to, because I enjoy the concept of discount coupons but this is just ridiculous...!

From the business

LivingSocial is a leading "daily deal" site that sells discounted experiences and local services--restaurants, spa trips, home services, travel, etc.--via voucher. The consumer must pay for the voucher upfront, and the voucher generally must be used within a specified time period or it cannot be redeemed. To make these deals possible, LivingSocial sells merchants on its ability to help "find and keep more customers". LivingSocial is a private company based in Washington DC and its shareholders include Amazon.com.
