Bought 3 separate 2 hour sessions from Living Social via Mini Maid company. First appointment was cancelled by the company as they were busy with other jobs. Second attempt of same appointment was 3 hours late and was told appointment was not at time I had scheduled. Third attempt to schedule for second cleaning resulted in a complete now show of the maids with no phone calls to explain this. I left a message yesterday inquiring what happened but no response yet. Voice mail box at one point was full and Living Social said they corrected the problem by checking again to call them and found they had emptied the mail box. I want a refund but am wondering what I'll get if I ask.
My wife and I both purchase a $15 flower deal for Mothers Day through Living Social. Great deal right? Veeeeery wrong. After you purchase the deal and look for your flowers you find out that a) there is a $15 "service fee" for each order and b) there aren't any flowers for $15. So, in the end, you're getting no deal at all- just forced into buying overpriced flowers for your mom and wife that won't even be delivered in time for mothers day (well, unless you pay an additional $20).
Bye bye Living Social, I'll be sure to pass this experience along to all my mates because, well, you're a coupony scam artist.
I purchased a "full dental examination and cleaning" for Living Social London. I was most interested in getting my teeth cleaned, and was considering changing from my current dentist. When I received the voucher, I found that the appointment was limited to 30 minutes. I phoned up and asked them how they could get in a full dental examination (including x-rays) and cleaning, all in 30 minutes. It turns out that I was mislead. I have not performed a full cleaning... just a quick and dirty one... and I'd have to pay additional to get the service that I thought I was paying for in the first place. I agree with the others on here. Stay away from Living Social. It's a rip off.
Today I woke up checked my bank acount and found a $1390 charge from living social all i purchased from them was a $10 coupon for a vegan cafe and a $20 oga coupon. They left me and my familly with out a penny today and now im scared i won't get my money back. They did message me saying the order was cancelled but offered no apology or any information on what happend. I am $850 over drafted and have no way of knowing what will happen with the $1390 They litteraly took the food right out of my sons mouth im desperate and scared and I hope other people don't get caught up in this scam.
This is a total rip off! I purchased a LIving Social voucher for a local restaurant - RED CURRY LOCATED AT 100 KING STREET, ALEXANDRIA, VA AND another one for a restaurant in DC which I will not name because I am going to give the owner a chance to honor the expired coupon. You gotta watch the small print and either don't buy them or use them before the expire or you have lost your money. I will be calling the local television station so that RED CURRY will be in the news about their poor customer service. As a way to attract a new customer, you would think that they would honor my voucher, but hey, I am going to post to every conceivable blog online I can find to tell people to beware of Living Social and not buy from them. I had 5 email exchanges with LS only for them to tell me that there was nothing that they could do and I've lost my money. Don't subscribe to these people, they are simply RIP OFFS! There is a law against gift cards expiring, the same law should apply to these voucher schemes too like LivingSocial, Groupon, and others. Don't do it! Buyer beware!
This is a long story, but I want to explain that after buying a few successful deals with LivingSocial, I am now DONE with these idiots.
I purchased 3 vouchers, each voucher was good for 3 body slimming treatments.
Yes, the fine print stated that 3 vouchers were allowed per person.
One day, months after ordering the vouchers that my appointments were all made for, 2 were refunded to my credit card with no notification as to why.
I contacted livingsocial, and they said the vendor couldn't handle the volume of customers so they decided to limit it to 1 voucher per person. Ok fine, but it would've been nice to KNOW that.
Then I contacted the vendor herself, and she told me her deal was always supposed to be limited to 1 per person, and livingsocial had taken so long to correct the problem. She was sorry, but assured that everyone would be honored for at least one voucher.
Then a couple days ago, my last voucher was refunded again, with no notification. Livingsocial proceeded to tell me that the vendor was going out of business and that she would no longer be accepting ANY vouchers. Hmm sounded fishy right? So I called the vendor who assured me that she was absolutely not going out of business and livingsocial is doing mass refunds, and she's flooded with calls from people that are upset with their vouchers getting revoked and their appointments getting canceled.
To make matters worse, my mom purchased 2 vouchers as well and she got an email from them stating that they indeed will be honoring 1 voucher due to the volume. So basically they're picking and choosing who gets to keep their vouchers? I thought they were going out of business and that there was no way you could recharge me for a business that won't honor it anyway? Bull$#*!!
I called livingsocial and told the customer service rep (who I might add knew jack $#*!) that the company wasn't going out of business, so could I get my card charged again since my appointment is in 3 days. Nope! Nothing they could do. I've been looking forward to these appointments for months and it's all been a huge disappointment and completely irritating and stressful. To tell me that they can't recharge me is a crock of $#*!.
I will never purchase from livingsocial again.
I bought a deal for Dahlia's floral arranging class. The deal specified that you would LEARN how to create a beautiful arrangement and would make one of your own. Gave the idea it was a floral arranging workshop. I was interested in learning something - that is WHY I went. They did not do one thing to teach anyone anything. It was all about creativity, expressing yourself, and learning who you are. They told the name of the flower and handed them out for you to make an arrangement in a glass about the size of a large jiuce glass. Not one direction was given, not one idea, not one hint of the proper way to place flowers in a vase, nothing. I spent my hard earned money to EXPRESS myself and learn who I am? I WENT to learn how to make a good floral arrangement. I learned NOTHING! The class lasted barely 30 min. It was totally misleading and a total waste of my time. Other ladies in attendance were saying the same thing. The regular price for this class is $37. Who in their right mind would spend that on this type of thing. It wasn't worth the $17 I got it for. I will never buy a living social deal like this again.
Living social is a nightmare and a scam of a company. Just bought a hairdressing coupon only to find out there was hidden extra costs I would need to pay so it was not a good deal as it said it was. Contacted them regarding the false advertising (as it was no longer 75% with these hidden amounts) and they told me if i didnt want it to cancel it before the time ran out. I have done so, so I wasn't sent a coupon, however I was still charged for the cancelled coupon all the same. Emailed multiple times and have gotten terrible replies at first and now just being ignored. Terrible terrible experience. It may only seem like a small mistake but it is a massive hassle. Buyer beware.
I bought two different coupons on different dates for services (house cleaning and a facial). Neither of those businesses picked up their phones or called me back after I left messages attempting to schedule an appointment. LivingSocial never responded to two of my customer service requests -- this is outright fraud.
I've only been using LivingSocial for a few months, but I like it so far. I bought an Amazon gift card and it was easy to use and a great discount. I haven't used my other purchases yet. I had one issue with the referral process, but it was quickly resolved and their customer service was great. Overall, I'm happy with LivingSocial and will continue to shop at the site.
Just clicked on a banner offer for 70% off a lobster dinner in my home town, it sent me to a screen requiring my email address to view the offer. I submitted my hot amil address and was then able to go to the next screen to see the deal. NO LOBSTER DINNER DEAL ANYWHERE TO BE SEEN. Instead, laser hair removal, well I'm a guy so I would prefer lobster!
I've purchased two deals. One worked fine. The other (which was a similar one I purchased from Groupon several months ago) I forwarded on with my "personal link" to some friends and family who also frequent the business. I didn't receive any notification that they purchased so whatever. A few weeks later, my mom talks about her deal... and she tells me my stepdad, brother and sister all purchased it and none were previous livingsocial members!
I had this EXACT problem with groupon a few months ago, I emailed them and it was resolved immediately no problems. I emailed living social in mid-March, and honestly did not think it was going to be a big deal. Well, I still haven't heard back. I've replied to the ONE automated response as well as sent a few more new emails (but didn't receive an automated response on the follow up emails). I don't really get it. Groupon responded within hours of my email but livingsocial can't even respond in a month after repeated requests?
I feel so bad that I recommended them to my family and they purchased the deal and I'm hoping they do not buy anything else from livingsocial. I'll stick to groupon, at least I know their customer service folks will get back to me quickly (and I've contacted them about other issues as well).
When I try to print out the Living Social coupon it is in gibberish. It says it's encoded or something like that.
Also has anyone notived that their inboxes are suddenly inundated with SPAM?
One of there deals could not schedule me in so I have contacted customer service 3 times with no response. I would like my money back. At this point I am no longer using there service and telling everyone else to stay away as well.
I'm no longer purchasing from Living Social. Three merchants are not honoring the vouchers (one even not responding at all!). I have contacted customer service twice and received NO response at all. Living Social is becoming a scam factory.
As a business owner, this is a great company to work with. My contact in Tucson has been so great. The reward is the benefit is shared between owners and customers.
Just another ripoff company. They take your money. Merchant refuses services. Then you have to fight to get your money from them. What a joke.
What a scam this site is. I bought a deal for Dysport for one area of the face. When I got to the spa, I was forced to buy more ($200 worth) because they claim "one area" would be ONE EYE, not both. I've purchased Dysport deals on Groupon where they say "one area" as well & it's ALWAYS BOTH EYES... It's comon sense.
When I contacted LivingSocial about it they told me oh well, sorry, you're out of luck. WTH? I will NEVER buy from them again. Total scam.
I recently purchased TWO Fandango movie tickets for $9 on a Living Social deal. When I went to redeem the tickets... I could only get ONE ticket. I emailed Living Social and after two weeks never received a response. So, this morning, I called Living Social. I was told i would have to take it up with Fandango! I told the girl that I had bought the deal from THEM! She had no response. I am still solvent as It was only a movie ticket... but, be sure I won't use them again!
Have bought several vouchers for things from Living Social and other sites similar and have had nothing but the best experiences with them. I had the unfortunate mishap of making a where the vendor couldn't seem to deliver within the time period. When I initially called they encouraged me to see if the vendor would extend the deal; no slight of had there just a suggestions. Unforturnately the vendor could not authorize such a thing so Living Social promptly refunded my funds. Thanks Living Social for actually thinking of the customer when giving service, my experiences have always been pleasant whether via email or phoning in.
Answer: I wouldn't recommend these people to anyone. A total nightmare. They take your money don't send the goods and they don't answer e mails
Answer: There do seem to have been some financial problems with many of the deals from Living Social. But when I had a problem they answered the phone and it was dealt with quickly and the goods resent.
Answer: Have you contacted the customer service at Livingsocial.com? I have found them to be pretty responsive in the past. This is a seperate review site.
LivingSocial is a leading "daily deal" site that sells discounted experiences and local services--restaurants, spa trips, home services, travel, etc.--via voucher. The consumer must pay for the voucher upfront, and the voucher generally must be used within a specified time period or it cannot be redeemed. To make these deals possible, LivingSocial sells merchants on its ability to help "find and keep more customers". LivingSocial is a private company based in Washington DC and its shareholders include Amazon.com.
