Don't use this website. I purchased a deal 5 days at Gran Melia Cancun, they send me a confirmation email saying that my credit card will be charge next day and I'll get my voucher, next day I received another email saying that my voucher was ready, but it wasn't so I called them and they told me the deal was sold out and I will no get anything! I already got my airline tickets to cancun, they didn't care... I Hate Living Social!
My daughter purchased a two-nite stay at Stevenswood Resort in Mendocino on Livingsocial as a gift to us 8 months ago. When I called to make the reservations for late August, I was told the place was booked solid into October. The "deal" did not allow me to book that far ahead. Obviously I might never be able to use the coupon if the place is always booked further ahead than I am allowed to reserve. After complaining, I was offered an upgrade of $100 per night because apparently the upgrade rooms were not fully booked. I accepted. However, I checked their website and rooms at all price levels were available for my requested time period and in fact "last minute" deals were available in the coming weeks at rates lower than the coupon plus upgrade.
Clearly this place had no intention of honoring the livingsocial coupon and lied about the availability of rooms that it covered.
Having bought a couple of good deals via the site I bought a further deal - £15 for £30 to spend at Next. Sounded like a good deal but the items I bought were badly fitting so I returned them. I have now lost my £15 and got nothing to show for it. Customer services are very poor, despite a number of emails and letter I have had no response from livingsocial. Very poor compared to other similar deal sites!
I need a refund on accommodation deal I booked.
I have sent 5 emails over the past 6 weeks and have had no reply other then the automated responses. Im getting very frustrated and wish someone would contact me.
:(
What a rip off! I bought a two night stay at the Chattanooga Choo Choo for $173; when I called to make reservations in November (this is July!) there were no rooms available. When questioned, the reservations clerk said thay did have rooms available; just no Living Social deal rooms. I called the supervisor and left a message; not returned at this date. I wrote Living Social a complaint; nothing in return after five days. DON"T SUPPORT THIS COMPANY!
I've used this site a number of times and had some success but when there is a problem they have NO CUSTOMER SERVICE. I purchased two vouchers for the same restaurant and one worked and my LivingSocial account says I emailed the other as a gift which I did not. No response from LivingSocial other than automated emails. Voucher expires today so I have missed my opportunity and wasted my money.
I purchased a brazilian wax from a salon off of LivingSocial. I scheduled my appointment but when I arrived at the salon it became obvious that the aesthetician had never even performed the service before and was not going to start now- nor was I going to be her guinea pig! I got dressed and asked for a refund and the salon refused so I went back to LivingSocial.com to ask for a refund and they didn't even bother to write back!
Basically, LivingSocial ran a deal for a service the salon doesn't perform (and has no business performing it!) and I'm out $30 because of their lack of due dilligence. They really should have some process for making sure the businesses they promote are reputable companies who aren't just lying to make a buck.
I absolutely AGREE with Oliver's post on 2/17/11! I am a server at a restaurant that had this coupon deal and we were slammed with customers who "coupon hop". I was also stiffed quite a few times. The worst part was that at the end of the deal, we were swarmed with desperate people trying to redeem their coupon at the last minute... up until midnight of the day that it expired! Then, the people continued to come in and complain that we would not extend the deal... even though they had SIX MONTHS to come in AND that the deal completely screwed our business. To extend the deal would have been a bad business decision. LIVING SOCIAL TOLD CUSTOMERS TO COME IN and USE their coupon past the expiration date... to redeem the money they had spent originally. So, in this case customers come in after the expiration date to use $30 of the original $60 deal, rather than just give them a refund - screwing our business further. This means our business has to honor this amount and STILL lose money! LIVING SOCIAL IS BAD FOR BUSINESS and they do not treat the owners fairly. THE LIVING SOCIAL COUPON IS A ONE SIDED DEAL, ALL IN THEIR FAVOR, and they know it. To add insult to injury, we continue to get bad reviews for service on Yelp, because we had an abnormal amount of customers flooding through our front doors, making it impossible to do our job well. I used to get some living social deals in the past and now, having experienced the business side of this deal, i WILL NEVER BUY A COUPON FROM THEM AGAIN.
On July 11th, LivingSocial ran an add that claimed a 70% discount for "Denver's Best Lobster".
I responded to that ad, fully expecting it to be honored. I exchanged, as requested. My personal information for access to the advertised special. Instead of receiving access to the advertised special, I was redirected to a Yogurt "deal" - a far cry from lobster, wouldn't you agree?
There was never any indication that this ad was an assortment of past deals [or deals that are similar to the ones they've run. The implication was clear, that by sharing my personal information, I would have access to the advertised special, which was a 70% discount for Denver's Best Lobster.
Purchased 3 cerificates to a local restaurant, when we went to redeem one of them we were told the new owner would not honor them. Tried to contact Living Social but they have so many road blocks it is obvious they don't want talk to anyone about any issue.
Had the same issue with Groupon, they automatically credited my account for the value of the certificates belonging to the restaurant that went out of business. I didn't have to do anything,
Lousy customer service, in reality they have no customer service.
I have used this site several times and never had a problem, because of my job I am on the road all the time so use all the restaurant deals I can. As I have said I never have any problem with the coupons being accepted and I never had a problem with my credit card being used, but if you want to, most cards will allow you to get a temp card number that can only be used once.
LIVING SOCIAL & UA LAGUNA VILLAGE 12 THEATER IN ELK GROVE, CA. In March, 2011, I purchased 2 movie tickets from Livingsocial.com Sacramento. I immediately printed a receipt. The receipt contained no expiration date. Today, July 21,2011 I tried to use the receipt at the UA LAGUNA VILLAGE 12 THEATER, IN ELK GROVE, CA. Neither the girl selling tickets, nor the manager of the theater would accept the receipt. I was denied admission. When I returned home, I immediately called Livingsocial.com. I was told that my movie tickets had expired on June 6,2011, ALTHOUGH THERE WAS NO EXPIRATION DATE ON MY RECEIPT. SO NOT ONLY DO THE EMPLOYEES AT UA LAGUNA VILLAGE 12 THEATER, IN ELK GROVE, CA, NOT KNOW WHAT A LIVING SOCIAL RECEIPT IS, AND WILL NOT HONOR IT -- LIVING SOCIAL ASSIGNS EXPIRATION DATES AND DOES NOT PRINT IT ON THEIR RECEIPTS. WHAT A RIP OFF!
POOR CUSTOMER SERVICE.
I bought a "deal." on some movie tickets.
They were supposed to let me know it/when it expired.
They didn't.
Therefore I DID NOT RECEIVE THE TICKETS AND CAN'T SEEM TO GET A REFUND.
Several attempts have been made but to no avail.
There are other companies and services that are more reliable.

I notice this site has lots of bad reviews but i thought i would share my experience as i had no probs at all.
Purchased a Next deal where i paid £15 for £30 to spend at Next. Bought it, code was emailed next day, found pair of boots on-line, used code, got boots, got charged correctly by Next.
No probs whatsoever!
So they can't be all bad :)
Bought 2 certificates for a snorkle with the manatee offer ( 1 as a gift) we've called the number given no less that 18 times and the call goes to voicemail with a message that the mailbox is full. Haven't been able to redeem the deal although I've been charged. Have contacted customer service twice with no response. I will be disputing the charge but warn others about being careful with this site. Groupon has been much more reliable
I recently purchased the living social deal for All Fun and Games in Apex, NC. When I went to the store I found that their prices were much higher prices for the same items at extremely similar stores nearby. In addition to the strangely high prices there were signs up throughout the store saying that the products were permanently discounted for various percentages, however these permanent discounts did not apply if you had a living social voucher. I understand that living social deals cannot be combined with other discounts, however the situation in this store made it absolutely obvious me that they increased their usual prices specifically so that the people who purchased the living social deal would not actually save money -- they put up the permanent discount signs so that people without the living social deal wouldn't have to pay the jacked up prices. This is absolutely fraudulent and a despicable practice. I will never be purchasing a deal from living social again, I will never be shopping at that store again, I will be sharing my experience with everyone who will listen, and I will be reporting All Fun and Games to the Better Business Bureau.
Had a problem with the business providing the deal honoring it -- couldn't get in touch with Social Living by telephone or e-mail; my e-mail to customer service was never addressed; 6 days later, I tried to call LS again and after holding for over 9 minutes I finally got a rep on the line who is crediting my credit card. She sent a confirmation e-mail. It took 5 calls to get someone, but once I was able to talk with someone, there was no problem with getting this handled.
I bought a $125.00 voucher for a keratin treatment at Salon Alere in Knoxville, Tn. Due to medical reasons I missed my appointment and Alisha, the stylist went ahead and cashed the voucher without providing any service. The appointment was at 12:00 noon, I called by 2:00 to apologize and reschedule and offered to "make up for the missed appointment". She had already cashed the voucher and never returned my phone calls. $125.00 is too much to pay for a missed appointment! I contacted Livingsocial about the problem; it's been 3 weeks now and I have yet to hear back from Livingsocial even though I did receive and e-mail confirming that they had received the complaint. When trying to reach Livingsocial by phone I always get the same "unusually high caller volume" recording and the phone disconnects... no doubt there are many more dissatisfied customers who are also getting the shaft. AVOID this company; they will not stand behind their customers!
Having been subscribed for their emails through no fault of my own, I have proceeded to receive emails from them on a daily basis for months.
When I go to their website in order to unsubscribe from their email database, I receive some message about an invalid email token. They then ask me to sign in to unsubscribe (bear in mind that I've never signed up in the first place). When I type in my email address into the forgotten password input, the site then tells me that my email is not on their system and takes me to a sign-up form.
Less than no stars for this pack of spammers
Answer: I wouldn't recommend these people to anyone. A total nightmare. They take your money don't send the goods and they don't answer e mails
Answer: There do seem to have been some financial problems with many of the deals from Living Social. But when I had a problem they answered the phone and it was dealt with quickly and the goods resent.
Answer: Have you contacted the customer service at Livingsocial.com? I have found them to be pretty responsive in the past. This is a seperate review site.
LivingSocial is a leading "daily deal" site that sells discounted experiences and local services--restaurants, spa trips, home services, travel, etc.--via voucher. The consumer must pay for the voucher upfront, and the voucher generally must be used within a specified time period or it cannot be redeemed. To make these deals possible, LivingSocial sells merchants on its ability to help "find and keep more customers". LivingSocial is a private company based in Washington DC and its shareholders include Amazon.com.
