I purchased vouchers from living social for a company called "try it racing". The vouchers were 30.00 each, 50% off their supposed original cost of 60.00. Well, this company tries to charge an additional 30.00 once you try and redeem the voucher for "taxes", "tips", and other fees. These additional costs were not stated anywhere on the voucher or in the fine print. That said, this company has false advertisement. I do believe they are trying to recoup the 30.00 that they lost. To make matters worse, they NEVER answer their phone or their voicemail is either always full so that you can't even leave one or they don't return your voicemail/call. Their online booking system doesn't allow you to make appointments but so far out and so, if the date you are interested in can't be scheduled online, you are at the mercy of "try it racing" and their inadequate response to phone calls. I am done with being at the mercy of this poorly managed company and have requested a refund back to my cc. We will see if living social comes through...
They tell you to buy the deal and then if 3 of your friends buy it you will get yours free. They are very dishonest. I got 3 family members to buy it and i bought it and they cancelled my family members or no reason and would not give me mine for free. Their customer service stinks--rude, greedy and not helpful!
Very disappointing experience with the car detailing service I got through livingsocial in los angeles. The guys did a horrible job. The polish wasn't completely removed and the floor mats were literally sopping wet. The missed vacuuming the center console compartments too. Truly bad experience and to top it off, livingsocial charged my $90 when the cost appeared to be $75 in the deal. Sneaky and poor quality. Ugh!
This was my first site of this sort. I had a good experience with them. Then I enrolled with Groupon. I got prompt reply for any of my questions from customer service And as far as Credit Card Information. You can go to accounts. You will see Card add or delete. You can delete the card and will have no problem. Every time. Just make sure to go and delete your card. I still do not know how they handle the problems yet. Luckily I have not come across any
Be careful --they store your credit card information! --what if they get hacked?
The deals are real, I've bought some.
However, there's stuff that goes on behind the logic that they don't explain in the fine print.
For example. Many deals say 1 per person.
WHat they really mean is 1 per credit card.
My wife and I, being 2 people, tried to each buy a cerain deal for our selves. We share the same credit card account, each card having a different name, but same account #, and each bought the deal for ourself.
It came back with order pending.
THe next day, it came back with 1 purchased, and one void because the same credit card was used, so it assumed we were the same person.
THis is definitely not stated in their rules, but more over, think about it...
How would they know that the same credit card # wass used unless they actually store that info in a database somewhere, as opposed to immediately running it and not storing it!
WHile I think I probably trust livingsocial not to rob my cc info, I do not trust their security and think with as much business as they get (yesterday, their servers were crashed due to being overwhelmed by the whole foods market deal of the day), they are ripe for a hacker to break in and get access to all our credit card info!
So be very careful!
I bought an online "deal" for a full car service through LivingSocial.com (Australian site).
The small print neglected to advise that I would be required to spend a further $200 on top of the $99 I'd already spent in order to receive my car service.
I raised a complaint with the LivingSocial website immediately and have had no response, depsite following up with them.
Based on my experience, I would not use LivingSocial.com again. Customer service is poor and the site uses bait and switch tactics to draw in customers.
Have purchased and used four deals without issue. I always take a minute to research the company the deal is for, before buying. Have never purchased an escape or adventure, but a few co-workers just got back from a Seattle area excursion and loved it.
They send out an email before a deal is going to expire, you can easily review and print your purchased deals from their website, and every deal has its terms clearly outlined before purchase.
WARNING! STAY AWAY AS FAR AS YOU CAN.
This company is a rip off. DO NOT GIVE THEM YOUR CREDIT CARD NUMBER. They will charge you and you will never receive any kind of services. They are a bunch of crooks and if you have a problem, you can never get to talk to a higher authority. They are scam bags and it is very difficult to deal with them.
Bought a maid service ($30) back in November then in June I went to use it. Called the company to use it and they said "we are booked up for the year, give us your name/number and when an opening comes up we will call you".
I called Living Social back and told them this (my vocher expires in November) and they said they would refund my money. I said I don't want the money I want the service. They said they would look into why the company would sell more vochers than they could handle and refunded my money (whatever).
TODAY, the SAME deal is selling for DOUBLE the price and I was like WTF they couldn't fulfill my voucher for $30 and now they are selling them for $60!
I called Living Social and they were like "too bad so sad" we refunded your money. I even got the direct number to apparently the head person who was like too bad so sad.
I cannot believe the freaking company wouldn't accept my $30 because they were "full" and now they are selling the EXACT same thing for double the money. Obviously they have people available and just didn't want to do mine because they sold it so cheap.
Bought a coupon for $60... to have my carpet cleaned - called the company, left a number of messages on their voicemail, sent a bunch of emails to book an appointment but with no luck. I've never had a legitimate business not return calls or even pick up the phone... ever. Called living social to get my money back but they said that it's not in their policy to give refunds if it's been more than 5 days after the purchase. What'd you know, it actually took 4 days for my purchased voucher to become 'available' for download... hmmm. Anyway... I'm left with dirty carpets and still $60 short in my wallet. NEVER trust an online coupon dealer again... shady, untrustworthy and certainly don't care enough about their customer service relations. VERY disappointing.
E-mailed the help address to ask for claification on a deal - in fact e-mailed them three time and NO ONE bothered to reply to missed out - ended up missing out on the deal.
Clearly they don't understand customer service and the fact the nature their 'deals' mean they need to answer people promptly!
Clearly a site not worth using again.
I've never come across a company less interested in retaining customers. Very poor customer service. I've had much better luck with groupon, which I would recommend.
Welcome to the world of Cyber-Racketeering!
As a business owner I have been approached by many group-buy sales reps, including one from LivingSocial. They are very convincing in what they say, but when I learned they take 50% or 40% of revenue generated by the sold coupons, the perspective turned sour.
I was trying to do reverse math from my "minimum-break-even" prices up to the price of the deal to feature on their site. It was consistently coming to x1.5 to x2 times higher than the similar deals they already featured somewhere (at 80% off). When asked if I can feature my price, they, predictably, said "no", explaining that no one (or very few) will buy. Well, it makes sense for them, as they need hundreds of buyers to get palpable dollar amount, but I am the one who will be left with little cash and hundreds of customers.
It became apparent that if I go with their deal I would loose money. So, I asked how do they think I can be profitable, to what they suggested up-selling and a vague perspective of having returning customers (apparently paying full price).
The biggest turn down was that they have no clue about my business, but they sure feel comfortable giving me price guidelines and putting 50% price tag on top. That when word "racketeer" popped up in my head, as association was quite clear.
I booked an event which required me to choose a valid date. During the booking process the website marked my voucher as "used" before a valid booking was confirmed. I ended up with a invalid voucher and no booking made. Until then, I regarded that as a technical issue that any normal company would have accepted an fixed... Instead, after requesting more than 4 times for help in their website, I have received no answer. Their customer service is useless. As far as I see, there is no customer support and you risk loosing your money.
I've been using Groupon for a while and have gotten used to fast, responsive customer service for my "group coupon" deals. They even refund your money if you have problems with a deal! The other day I tried LivingSocial for a couple deals that were quite enticing, one of which was a Zoobooks deal. When I got the Zoobooks voucher and followed the directions to use it, it didn't work. I contacted LivingSocial and was told that "these types of problems are usually best answered by the merchant directly." I know that if I had a similar problem with Groupon, they would have been right on it--it's doubtful that I would have been the only person who had that problem. And apparently I wasn't, since later that day LivingSocial sent out new vouchers (the original voucher numbers were no good).
So, this doesn't bode well for their customer service. After that and after reading some of the other reviews here, I will be hesitant to use them again.
I think that LivingSocial has pretty good deals. Somehow, I like it better than Groupon.
Some negatives are when I go to claim a LivingSocial coupon or Groupon, its really crowded or the merchant doesn't look so happy when I am there to use my voucher. I don't like the feeling of them not wanting to deliver the service with a pleasant smile. Truly, how can you really blame the business. Reading all the reviews, it seems apparent that the business loses out.
The other negative is that I always get buyer's remorse, every transaction, I wonder if it was a good buy. In any case, with the Groupons/LivingSocials, I feel like it's pressure buying. I've bought less LivingSocial coupons than Groupons but both I've had some expire and lost money on because I just couldn't use it in time, I couldn't make the drive over to where I bought the cupcakes from and I had to order 48 hours in advance.
I did find a website that I really like now called www.Stretche.com. It's all the good of Groupon/LivingSocial without the bad. No buyer's remorse because you don't need to buy, just "clip" a coupon for free.
I always read the "fine print" of any offer. After doing so for a Riverwood Inn, Ostego, MN offer that promised ANY ROOM for the deal price, I purchased it. When I tried to make a reservation for the room I wanted, I was told that it would be an additonal $100! After additonal research, I found that the "fine print" was adjusted AFTER I purchased my deal. Since I saved and had proof of what the fine print read at the time of my purchase, I expected livingsocial to make good on the deal, but neither they nor the Riverwood Inn would do so.
I would not recommend them at all... I have been trying to get a refund on a restaurant deal they sold to me that the actual restaurant does not take... they are impossible to get hold of and do not answer any emails... so frustrating and will definately not use them again, and will spread ther word to every one I know to do the same... so dissapointed with them... I use all the other voucher sites and can highly recommend them but... DO NOT USE LIVING SOCIAL
If you are a small business, don't do it! After they hold all the money for over a month and you fill coupons completely out of pocket, they pay you 25 cents on the dollar. And the expiration dates mean nothing. If a client can't get in at the last day of the coupon they will write bad reviews. This has been a nightmare. I had nothing but great reviews before this.
Answer: I wouldn't recommend these people to anyone. A total nightmare. They take your money don't send the goods and they don't answer e mails
Answer: There do seem to have been some financial problems with many of the deals from Living Social. But when I had a problem they answered the phone and it was dealt with quickly and the goods resent.
Answer: Have you contacted the customer service at Livingsocial.com? I have found them to be pretty responsive in the past. This is a seperate review site.
LivingSocial is a leading "daily deal" site that sells discounted experiences and local services--restaurants, spa trips, home services, travel, etc.--via voucher. The consumer must pay for the voucher upfront, and the voucher generally must be used within a specified time period or it cannot be redeemed. To make these deals possible, LivingSocial sells merchants on its ability to help "find and keep more customers". LivingSocial is a private company based in Washington DC and its shareholders include Amazon.com.
