I recently purchased a Sony Laptop they had advertised in the UK. Absolute Scam - my card was debited on the date as expected - but no lap top arrived. Tried to call customer services several times - then when I finally got through - my issue was addressed by an arrogant woman called Arti - who claimed she was the supervisor but yet couldn't expalin anything. She said there was a security problem with the payment details I entered. Yet - my card had been debited and then refunded a few days later. She said she couldn't tell me what was wrong and thaty I couldn't have the deal any more as it had expired!
This is a con - please stay away and spread the word!
I am still waiting for a valid explanation.

Terrible website and no service at all.
Also, I bought 4 tix for some promo and didn't see the expiration fine print. Avoid these scams. Regular price will save you $ and aggravation.

Living social deserves 1/2 a star- the customer service when it comes to refunding you is full of *&^%#. I was told that my refund to my credit card will be processed after the pending transaction settles- I said then settle it and refund it- no they can't do that until their "system" settles it- I told them I would be calling them non- stop until they refund my funds and after this i am cancelling my account with them and NEVER using this website again- they are scam artists

I purchased discount house cleaning services. The services were offered in 5 hour packages, with the option to buy up to two packages for use in your own home. The way the fine print was worded I thought that you were obligated to use all packages that you purchased on the same day, which worked well for me because I wanted an extensive cleaning of my house. I bought two coupons in early September and began attempting to contact the provider within a day or two of purchase. It took me more than a month of repeated attempts to reach the provider before I was able to actually get through to someone. Nobody returned my call in all that time.

When I did finally make contact with the provider they informed me that the two coupons that I had purchased could not in fact be used on the same day and advised me to use them instead for two separate cleanings no more than two weeks apart in order to avoid too much deterioration between cleanings. However, they also notified me that they had an extremely limited supply of available dates left within the six month period covered by coupons. The earliest date they were able to offer me was over a month from the date of our conversation and more than two months from the time of purchase. When I told them that that day of the week would not work for me they offered me two other dates, both occurring on a day of the week that I had already stated I am not available on. Their next suggestion was that I leave my door unlocked so that the cleaning staff could have access while nobody was home. When I turned that option down they finally came up with a date in February for my first cleaning, but were unable to provide a date for the second cleaning any time within the following month and were unwilling to extend the life of the coupon beyond the 6 month period in order to find a time when two closer appointments could be arranged.

I called Living Social to complain and was told that no refund could be offered because I had not made my complaint within 5 days of purchasing the coupon, despite the fact that I was still anticipating a reasonable response within that 5 day period. They also insisted that, although the vendor had been unreachable for over a month and had never returned my phone calls, they had made a good faith attempt to accommodate my needs simply because they had managed to offer me any dates of service at all, regardless of whether they were dates that I could use, allowed for using the service in the way that they themselves had recommended, or were almost 6 months from when I had originally ordered the service.

This review is from a business owner standpoint. This is not to say LivingSocial will not work for every business owner but I do want to share our experience as a retail business. Basically, the deal we offered did not bring in the right customer. It only brought in customers who wanted a cheap deal and will never come back again. We own a higher end baby boutique where our margins are not very wide to begin with. We are a small business who does well due to our product type and customer service. Our service was definitely taken advantage of and we lost a LOT of money. It is coupon sites like livingsocial that destroy the integrity and value of great products. It gives people the idea that we should and can find a product cheaper elsewhere, which will lead many small brick and mortar businesses out of business FAST. We will never do a living social or similar type coupon deal ever again! As a business owner we've learned to keep our integrity and stay diligent despite losing business to on-line companies that want to short change our vendors. We hope other similar type businesses follow suit.

BEWARE OF THE FINE PRINT! Signed up for a "cooking with chocolate" course at Hals Kitchen in Sandy Springs. Living Social offered 4 different classes and you had to register for one. I had reserved the class for tonight (10/10). My uncle passed away suddenly so I called to ask if I could reschedule for one of the other nights that were offered since I wanted to be there for my father at the viewing tonight. (I had previously called Hal's Kitchen this morning and was told that they would be happy to reschedule me for one of the other nights & that it might work better since tonight was one of their more full classes. I was told that Living Social, however, was the party who had to approve the change) Living Social told me they WOULD NOT reschedule me and to look at the fine print. Period. No special exceptions. I was told I could 'gift' my class to someone, but it's not easy to find someone so last minute and besides, $75 is not an amount I spend lightly. It was not as if I was asking for a refund or that the "adventure" was a 1-night only offering. There were 2 more available classes but their inflexibility in light of the circumstances really left a bad feeling with me. I told them to remove me from their subscription list as I will never use their services again!

I used a credit card to buy a deal through Living Social -- a credit card I almost NEVER use. The same day, unauthorized charges started popping up on the card in the Florida area, when I live in California. Thankfully my bank caught the suspicious activity very early on.

It's almost certain that my financial transaction with Living Social was what led to the fraudulent use of my credit card information.

Google "living social credit card fraud" and you'll see that it seems to be a common problem with this site.

I don't care how good the deals they are offering; if they can't protect your credit card information then it's just not worth it.

Stay away!
October 5, 2011

Stay away! I buy vouchers from group on and other similar sites from local companies all the time with no issues. The first time I bought from living social I encountered a problem redeeming it. The owner of the store in which the voucher is for said he won't accept it because " living social cheated them" and " promised him one thing but got another". So I wasted my time and money to drive to that store, get the stuff I wanted, then got the voucher rejected! I don't know what they're promising store owners, but the owners can reject it if they want to. I called them and got a refund. I let them know how upset I was, but all they could say was" thanks for the feedback". Never again, they are not the only company offering deals!

Some deals are too good to be true on this website! Don't be the next sucker in line.

Supposedly if you get 3 friends to purchase the same deal you have, you'll get yours for free. However, that is a total lie. I contacted customer service and i was pretty much told "tough luck"... and it was just a coincidence that no supervisor was available to assist me during this phone call...

My point of view? They USE you to advertise for them and in return they give you your purchase for free ONLY if you meet the quota. Even if you exceed that quota, they tell you to just "f*ck" off.

Purchased another deal and contacted the vendor to schedule an appointment - no such deal available... so i'm like WTF?

Bad customer service along with lies = no future business from me or my friends

I ended up refunding ALL of my recent purchases!

In return, i'm telling livingsocial.com to go "f*ck" themselves =) they deserve "zero" stars!

I purchased a Living Social voucher for this "property" and planned to take my mother for a surprise trip for her birthday. It ended up that we could not make the trip - so I emailed Cobblestone Inn and asked for them to cancel my reservation.

I then find a charge on my credit card from Cobblestone Inn for the room! I called and asked for it to be refunded. They said they never received my email. I forwarded my email to them. The then said again that they never received it. I FORWARDED them the email. Can you take no responsibility that you MISSED it?

I then find another charge on my credit card for the additional taxes needed to be paid for using the Living Social voucher - essentially USING the voucher for a stay that I CANCELED.

I called and emailed Living Social whom basically told me "Not our problem - have a nice day".

Now - I am charged by the hotel, have a $232 piece of paper that is worthless and endless amounts of frustration.

How in the world can this be considered fair business practices? Quite simply it is NOT.

Living Social has an obligation to manage their vendor relationships and make sure the vouchers are used properly.

They do not send any type of reminder to use your coupon and it didn't even last 6 months. I paid for it, Gift Cards don't expire and these are paid for and expire within a few months in the fine print. If you must use use Groupon at least you get a reminder.

I honestly haven't had any problems thus far. The concept is good, they have many competitors, so it keeps them on their toes. They may be spreading themselves a bit thin with all the different types of deals, but hopefully it will all work out. I'd have to say I give them one more star than Groupon because their deals are usually better quality deals. That's my two cents!

I bought a few things from these guys. Just make sure you use them. Definitely appauled that Groupon has a better ranking then them. I've heard more complaints about Groupon then Living Social. Anyway, just use it right away. I prefer going to sites that offer a coupons for free that are exactly like the deals from living social. I'm not too much on the bandwagon for living socials, but I don't dislike them. Just be careful cause you never when you're going to get screw up the... ya know.

I've bought a few things of livingsocial and it's all been fine. BUT I don't want to log in thought livingsocial through my facebook and e-mailed them regarding that issue. It's been 9 days and no response.
Also the app is not working in my iPhone.

I'm just disappointed in the customer service. I've never had to wait 9 days for an e-mail response.

I bought a car detailing deal off of living social. That day I tried to schedule the appointment with the company and received no response. Tried again 3 days later and their website said they have had an 'overwhelming response' and would get back to your message in 72 hours. 72 hours later, still no repsonse. Then, the website says there was a death in the family, please give them time. 2 months later, I contact living social about this because I was getting no response and they wouldn't refund my money. They agreed to give me a living social voucher but I don't want a voucher. I want my car detailed and all the deals I have looked for since are not mobile (which I bought in the first place) or a exuberantly more expensive! So frustrated and will NEVER buy from living social again.

From the business

LivingSocial is a leading "daily deal" site that sells discounted experiences and local services--restaurants, spa trips, home services, travel, etc.--via voucher. The consumer must pay for the voucher upfront, and the voucher generally must be used within a specified time period or it cannot be redeemed. To make these deals possible, LivingSocial sells merchants on its ability to help "find and keep more customers". LivingSocial is a private company based in Washington DC and its shareholders include Amazon.com.
