Purchased a LS and it did not state that it was redeemable at only 1 location until I printed it out. I called Living Social and they said there was nothing they could do. The only location is downtown and you have to pay to park for $10 worth of coffee. AVOID - go with Groupon, they back EVERYTHING they sell!
They have a horrible customer service department that constantly messes up orders. They will mess up your order and then steal your money, all while telling you that you are the wrong one.
I bought a discount coupon worth $150 for $50 of Optical Boutique, one Spring Street, Unit 101, New Brunswick, NJ *******
The shop sells one ray-ban sunglass at $279, which is easily available at $129 ar ray-ban.com and $99.50 at amazon.com
So, this is a fraud site, just making fool of others. This is just a RIPOFF site.
I've had a really bad time with the customer service people here. For most of these websites, if I'm having trouble with the vendor accepting the coupon, the website just gives me credit/a refund. But these people were trying to tell me to go to the business to try and work things out. I didn't buy the coupon from the business, I bought it from the website and it would be great if you stood by the product you're selling!
Used to work great for me in San Francisco. Now, deals that I try and purchase are not charged, and no voucher is received, however when I try and purchase again, it states "already purchased"
Customer service is terrible. No answer on the phone and no response to emails.
I used to be a loyal customer, getting great lunch deals, now the Android app is broken and they don't seem to care.
Watch out! Living Social no longer issues deal bucks if you are unable to use the voucher before it expires unless the merchant has gone out of business. This is clearly noted on their vouchers now, but it wasn't on there when I purchased my vouchers in March.
I will only use Groupon for daily deals from now on, I've been burned by Living Social! Groupon will happily refund if your voucher expires or even if you just change your mind.
As a business i lost a lots of money not worth it
New, but promising, TheSalesMap.com
Unlike Groupon or LivingSocial, TheSalesMap is free for businesses.
It does not charge businesses 20% to 50% per sale or any other fee.
Its better organized and you can see sales and promotions on map around where yo leave.
Love to see more deals in there.
But its free to add whatever sale you have they won't take comision
Have bought a couple of restaurant coupons through them with no complaints, BUT, I was checking out a couple of the Living Social Escapes--NOT worth it--basically, they are charging full price of what the hotels, etc. charge anyway--It merely locks you into paying way ahead of time, and generally your rights are limited while the merchant can cancel at any time.
Got charged $100 to go to frightfest and when I went to print out the coupon the DAY of the event it said we had to be there at 10am! It was the only place it said that and when I called I was told "sorry you should have read the coupon" I never even THOUGHT to print out the coupon till the day of the event. The fact that they took my money and wouldn't allow me into the park at 2pm when it didn't close till 10pm is atrocious.
Living Social offers deals for bad businesses that will take your money and provide horrible service. I've purchased deals from them multiple times and have never been truly impressed by the businesses. Today, my friends and I were supposed to go play paint ball in Pennsylvania through a NYC deal. Due to snow, thunder, and rain, we decided not to attend and spare ourselves reckless driving conditions and frost bite. After contacting Living Social and requesting a refund or some sort of compensation, they offered nothing and patronized us regarding our decision to not attend. According to the company, other customers "are having fun paint balling outside all day." We were all expecting the event to be canceled because of the dangerous weather. Driving a bus full of people for two hours each way, having an outdoor (YES, OUTDOOR) barbecue, and expecting those individuals to run around outside all day is foolish. I'm sorry that I don't want to freeze, slip and break my neck, or crash into a ditch, customer service $#*!s.
From the UK, ordered a set of headphones on 25 september, today is the 26 of october and i don't have them yet, after numerous unanswered emails i got in touch by phone 2 weeks ago and after them saying i needed to pass a security check before the headphones were sent, i asked why they didn't call and got a wishy washy cust serv fountain of bs answer. Subsiquently passed the check and was assured they had now been sent.
Called again earlier this week around 21st of oct and was assured they had been shipped and would be with me no later than the 25th a huge appology for the delay and hoped i enjoyed the product.
Today i phoned again because suprise suprise they didn't show, i was told that some of the headphones had a failed delivery and would be with me later today, they then said they would phone back to confirm this.
I got fed up of waiting for a call, so rang them back and was told that the headphones were shipped on tuesday and would take a further 7-14 days to arrive.
I'm furious, i asked for a refund so i could use an auction site and get the headphones faster. I was told to wait for delivery, then return the headphones at my expence to get any of my money back.
As compensation i was offered some virtual "Bucks" as compensation! We use pounds sterling here in england and i'm sure they are very real and not play money.
1st time using this site, and the last, groupon are effective and efficient, livingsocial are ineffective and inept.
Stay well Clear and avoid like bubonic plague!
I purchased a voucher for an eye exam and $200 off a pair of frames. I went to the office to check out their selection of glasses before booking my exam. Most frames were around $500 and lenses were about $100-150 depending on your choice. With that, $200 off would still leave a balance higher than I would originally spend on a pair of frames since you could not submit the bill to insurance. I called LivingSocial customer service and although it had been past the 10 days or whatever their return period is and they gladly refunded me with little questions asked. I was very surprised and impressed.
I purchased a voucher from their site for a painting place. It showed an Expiration date of Oct 22, which is a Saturday. I went to the painting place on that Saturday and found that they are never open on weekends. I called livingsocial about this and they questioned me why I waited till the expiration date!
My friend signed me and my boyfriend up for a deal for my boyfriend's birthday thinking we could meet them at the event since we live in the area. LS never stated on their site that doing so is not possible. I took the initiative in telling them about it thinking they would be ok with that but doing so was a "liability issue". We would essentially have to drive two hours south to travel with the bus two hours north to the area where we live and vice versa. On top of that, we have a dog who cannot be left alone for 18+ hours. They will not help us out in the least. The only option we had is to reschedule but it's all sold out in the future so now I am out almost $300 and I have to eat it. They are BS--stay away
IF YOU'RE A BUSINESS... STAY AWAY FROM THESE GUYS! They tell you EVERYTHING you want to hear, THEN leave you to fend for yourself! ITS BEEN 27 DAYS since my offer ran, and I STILL HAVE NOT BEEN PAID THE $80,000+ payment that I'm OWED. YET I have clients showing UP left and right, cashing in their vouchers! THESE GUYS are better then Groupon? Then Groupon must be abhorrently repulsively gawdawful! LET'S see if I EVER GET MY MONEY! And their "HIGH END CLIENTS" which they promise you are a BUNCHA "NO Good, weasel, penurious penny pinching, feeble, coxcomb, fribble, vacuous, bumptious, self-righteous, $#*!ED poppinjay MONGRELS!" So ILLITERATE, they try to double up vouchers when it CLEARLY says on the 2nd LINE, "1 PER CUSTOMER!" SCAMSTERS CITY GALORE!
First "voucher" I purchased - the company went out of business. Most recently, I purchased a "voucher" that I wanted and the reciept was correct - yet when they sent me the actual voucher, it was for a different item that I have no use for. Countless phone calls and emails and they were totally useless at actually fixing the voucher. I gave them a month to get it done and finally gave up. Luckily, the company that the voucher was for was amazing and honored my reciept - not the voucher.
Beware. They do not check the legitimacy of the companies or deals that are featured!
I ordered a teeth-whiting kit, still no product or response to emails.
Alarmingly the company had only been trading for 1 week before livingsolcal.com emailed the offer.
Not happy!
LivingSocial is a total ripoff! I was stung on my first try. Once is enough! For all we know, the people who write in saying it is great are professional "we clean up your reputation for you" writers! They can't seem to bury the bad comments fast enough with their own fake good comments!
I bought a "pay-in-advance spend it for twice as much" coupon through AmazonLocal. I went to the restaurant two weeks after buying the coupon and they were already gone. Another business was there. Clearly they planned this scam well in advance of arranging for the sale of the coupons!
AmazonLocal is part of Amazon.com who allows LivingSocial to use them (for a cut of the profits). Shame on you Amazon; I trusted your name enough to give it a try. I will boycott Amazon.com for one year or until they drop LivingSocial, and I told them so. Is there an attorney out there who wants to organize a class action lawsuit against LivingSocial?
I recieved a friend referral from my sister and when I tried to purchase the voucher I clicked on "buy more" which was the only option and it linked me directly to her account and gave me the option of purchasing the voucher through her account with her credit card. (gave the last 4 digits.) I had to close the account and open a new one. I then purchased the voucher. A few minutes later my sister sent my dad a link through her email account and when he oppened the account, he was given the option of buying a voucher through my credit card even though I had not shared the deal with him or anyone else. I called and was told that because I had used the same computer as my dad my credit card would come up. I immediatley cancelled my purchase and deleted my card. PLEASE BE AWARE THAT IF YOU SHARE THE DEAL WITH FRIENDS THEY WILL BE GIVEN THE OPTION TO PURCHASE VOUCHERS WITH YOUR CREDIT CARD!
"Deal I bought was a joke. Didn't include all of the 'fine print'. The vendor, On the Spot Home Services of NJ, placed many additional restrictions on the deal, and wanted lots more money to actually do the job. The vendor was also obnoxious... seemed to think the whole thing was funny! I won't use Living Social or On the Spot again!"
Answer: I wouldn't recommend these people to anyone. A total nightmare. They take your money don't send the goods and they don't answer e mails
Answer: There do seem to have been some financial problems with many of the deals from Living Social. But when I had a problem they answered the phone and it was dealt with quickly and the goods resent.
Answer: Have you contacted the customer service at Livingsocial.com? I have found them to be pretty responsive in the past. This is a seperate review site.
LivingSocial is a leading "daily deal" site that sells discounted experiences and local services--restaurants, spa trips, home services, travel, etc.--via voucher. The consumer must pay for the voucher upfront, and the voucher generally must be used within a specified time period or it cannot be redeemed. To make these deals possible, LivingSocial sells merchants on its ability to help "find and keep more customers". LivingSocial is a private company based in Washington DC and its shareholders include Amazon.com.
