This app is ridiculous and seems to be run by young amateurs. Their idea of helping you sell is to send you a message telling you to lower your price. Then, their instant messages consist of "is this still available", "what condition is it in", "I'm interested", etc. Useless and annoying for any and all armchair tire kickers to create useless banter. It's all stuff that can be read in the ad, if anyone took the time. Haven't sold a thing off of LetGo in the 1yr+ that I've been on. Would have better luck and less frustration on the street corner.
I'm a seller and I've sold many things on the site. Yes buyers will haggle over the price but that is expected as I'm selling use items. Everyone I've meet have been nice. That includes people I've meet outdoors and people who came to pick up large items. Treat the site like an online garage sell and only take cash. I don't take checks or money orders only cash. Just like a garage sell cash only, but haggling is ok
I am wondering if apps like Letgo are simply beyond their expiration date. I've read many of the 1-star reviews and agree with nearly all of them. The buyers--if they're even real--behave not like responsible people but complete idiots. I've had several buyers message me with, "When can I pick it up?" and then completely flake out. It makes me pine for my eBay days, when the fees were high, but at least the buyers were f*cking real!
The whole model is flawed - encouraging window shopping not sales. Notification system annoying (I don't want to be altered that someone favorited my item... I mean - what use is that? That same flawed reasoning / UX rational is everywhere.
Also seems to breed an environment of creepy, flaky people. Makes Craigslist trade seem like normal folks.
Just like Craigslist and Ebay, Letgo is infiltrated with businesses who post literally hundreds of postings and clog up the app for individual sellers. I have complained, reported, etc and nothing is done. I thought it was for individual sellers? If Letgo allows this it seems that they should charge the business for "commercial" listings. I have sold and bought with some incredible deals. I love Letgo but I see as time goes by that it is on the same road as Ebay and Craigslist.
I was embezzled out of 2100 $ after meeting up to purchase a truck. The title was bogus and when I went to pick it up the next day, the address was also bogus. Letgo refused to release the actual posters ( sellers information) even though I made a police report and had the report number. Do NOT deal with this site, they support criminal activity.
I have listed items for sale on letgo for almost three months and have sold three things. My listing prices are reasonable and I always entertain best offers but it seems like the people who use letgo to buy are looking to pay a tiny fraction of what you want to get. Its been a little insulting.
I have been harassed over $5, I have been messaged at 4am, my responses to questions go unanswered, a user who had several negative feedbacks (for harassing/wasting peoples time) now has a spotless record, one person (bought a $10 item from me) tried to pay with a hundred dollar bill, people have asked for my phone number and address late at night, I have held items for people who promised to buy and then stopped communication, I have answered ridiculously obvious questions (what color is the wood?) when there are several pictures of the item.
I think a garage/yard sale will yield better results. Letgo attracts scumbags and scammers.
My experience is this: My husband and I were looking for a used travel. We found several. As soon as we asked when and where we could see the trailor or motorhome, the seller stopped communicating with me.
They want a certain amount of money, which they post along a photo or photos. Many times the photos are horrid. You can't really even tell what the object is.
If by chance you ever are allowed to see the vehicle, it is filthy and in disrepair wasting your time.
I believe most of the postings are either a scam, or very misleading. Too bad, because it ruins the app for honest buyers and sellers.
I live in vancouver canada. I buy and sell for a living, 20% on facebook and the other 80% is on craigslist. To give an idea where i'm at, i currently have 312 listing on craigslist. There are scammers everywhere, if you can't sniff them out then you should educate yourself before opening doors to them! Anyway i posted 5 items on letgo yesterday morning, got interest on 4 of them and sold 2 by 5pm. I think letgo is the next big thing. I sell on average 2-10 listings a day on craigslist. Those 2-10 sales includes roughly 100 emails (scammers, no shows, asking and never responding again, etc). If i was only trying to sell one thing i'd be pulling my hair out by the time it sold. I look at it like a numbers game. Based on what happened with letgo yesterday, it currently has the majority of my attention. These selling sites are only as good as the people that use them
The "is the price negotiable" button is right next to where the average person would scroll. So I am constantly sending that message to sellers. Then I have to apologise to them. Why can't they put a send button on this site? Poorly designed. We can write our our messages to the seller.
I wish I could rate this app zero stars! I posted a few items for sale and encountered several obnoxious buyers with insane demands. Two of them failed to show up to meet. One had me driving all over the city as she changed the meet up location SEVEN TIMES while I was on the road trying to meet up with her. I've had two men harass me for dates. I had another man inquire about a lamp for sale and insisted he would pay my asking price if I delivered to him NOW. It was 10:30pm. I don't think so! I feel very unsafe using this app and contacted customer service to delete my account.
Hard to buy with confidence that you aren't going to get shanked by seller. David g sold me a faulty washer and didn't communicate about fixing it, also tried to sell me another washer at a higher price than he was advertising on the app! Incidentally, when we met, his name was Peter. All the items he had for sale had a similar story: Like New, a few years old, moving, don't need it, blah blah blah
I completely stopped selling locally because of flakes. It's so much easier on other sites. State your price. Take it or leave it, then ship and forget it. I have a couple of items that are too long to ship, so gave this app a try. The buyers on Letgo are a joke! Some have sob stories. Although your price is fair, they will haggle anyway. Just had a buyer ask for 40% off and wait for it... wait for it... to also deliver to the next town for free! I'm not desperate. Haha... get outta here. Who do think I am uber?
My initial gripe is that the format for dialogue with the buyer is so bad that you cannot even see their last message until either you write a reply without knowing that they have written to you or they happen to try again which few people are likely to do on these buy and sell apps. I was really optomistic initially because it was so easy to post stuff by walking around the house with a cell phone, snapping and posting all those items lying around. Even that was silly because I think most first time users don't realise that after submitting a photo which is a fairly slick process, then you can add comments then a price which most seem to skip, leaving most adds with "negotiable" and some ridiculous cyber caption. For example I tried to buy a flat screen TV then was told by seller that it was not included with (TV stand). A bit of a poxy site as we would say in the UK.
This site has nothing nice whatsoever. Everybody on it sends you the template asking "is it still available" obviously it's still available. If you have a nice item, you get messages from lowlifes bashing your product, saying they would never pay that. People sell clothes with stains, broken down cars, everybody on here from Pittsburgh is from the crappy parts of town. I'm guessing it's like this everywhere. Don't waste your time. Craigslist and eBay is a better option any day if the week
Waste of time. No one answers, if they do it's impossible to meet. Ppl don't actually wanna buy your stuff. They want it free or want to negotiate for sex or drugs. I don't care about your past time but getting msgs in the middle of the night for a bikini & going on about your sexual preference is inexcusable and uncomfortable. I don't entertain these talks but ppl just $#*! around and waste your time. Stupid app. Stupid users.
And for You saying give it a chance... I have, twice for a couple weeks at a time. Same bull$#*! both times. Haven't sold any items nor have I met someone to buy as they're too Busy or don't respond. Of course we're judging the site and we can because we experienced $#*!ty situations.
I am not happy that people can write a review about there experience dealing with you on buying something but you as the seller have no way of a rebuttal if the guy is just not happy with what he wanted.
You get are a bunch of "Is it available?" and if you respond with yes, you never hear back from the person. I no longer respond to those. Usually if the person is a serious buyer, they will persist in trying to get communication from you...and that's how I've sold the few items I have. If they stop communication after asking that I block them. Thank goodness for the block feature!
The app is good, its the people trying to make a living selling junk that turns me off. I mean come on! $60 for worn out Nikes/Under Armour! They think just because they're name brand that they're worth that much... not! I've gotten better deals at yard sales for crying out loud! A lady was selling blue jeans with worn out spots on the rear, stained and wrinkled; she wanted $10 a pair! Had a guy on there trying to sell 4 bald tires for $100. I thought Letgo was a place to go for REASONABLE prices, guess I was wrong.
Anything you put for sale will result in offers for half as much
-Called someone out on a lie in thier ad and they respond by giving me a false 1 star review saying I was rude and had unfair prices... people can write reviews about you without even dealing with you? Wtf?
- you cant search keywords in specific categories, makes searching for anything specific extremely difficult
Answer: I worked as a reviewer for several sites and when they have very little reviews or no reviews people like me are paid to say how great they are. You can verify these in Amazon reviews some of them praise items like there is no tomorrow full pages of nice reviews. When you see the contradicting reviews go for the bad one is the honest one.
letgo has a rating of 1.8 stars from 839 reviews, indicating that most customers are generally dissatisfied with their purchases. Reviewers dissatisfied with letgo most frequently mention customer service, many people and phone number. letgo ranks 177th among Auction sites.
