Letgo is a total waste of time
November 8, 2018

I've been using the Letgo app now for about 1 year. I also use Offer Up, FB Marketplace, and Craigslist. I can say without a doubt in my mind, Letgo is the worst of the four. You are constantly badgered with questions stating "Is this item available, I'm interested, Has this item sold?, What condition is it in, Has it sold?, and many others. 99.*******% of these questions are sent by people who "ARE NOT INTERESTED IN YOUR ITEM OR HIT THE MAGICAL COMMENT BUTTON AT THR BOTTOM RIGHT OF YOUR LISTED ITEM." Letgo requires the users to hit these "hot key" buttons requesting more info FIRST instead of giving buyers the ability to merely send the seller a questions that they actually sent themselves. Gees, what a novel idea. Give the buyers the ability to send their own message instead of REQUIRING them to send these stupid, non commitial messages. And the big problem is, Letgo has placed this comment bubble at the lower right corner of the listing, so when a buyer is scrolling the ads on their smart phone a lot of people accidental hit this bubble, which in turn sends one of these crazy, pre-set messages to a seller, making them think the person is interested in their item for sale. This becomes Soooooooo frustrating from the sellers perspective that many people delete this app, like I'm about to do, because it borders on being a daily harassment. Does the designers at Letgo read their reviews or answer messages from concerned sellers about these problems? ABSOLUTELY NOT! I've sent no less than 10 requests asking them to address this problem and none of the problems have been addressed nor have my messages been answered. It makes you wonder what's going on with the people who run this app. There are so many advertisements on this app after you search a certain item it ridiculous. Don't search an item on this app, because Letgo will automatically start to send you messages about every item listed that was close to what you searched. You have to manual go in and uncheck this item to stop the messages. I've probably only sold 1-2 things on this app and now it's become more trouble than it's worth. People need to know these issues before they begin to use this app. This is an honest review from someone who has successfully bought and sold items on Craigslist, EBay, Offer Up, and FB Marketplace now for several years.

Seems people from kijj moved to letgo
August 20, 2018

I bought a new car. In my area you can not park on the road overnight as they give tickets galore and my garage is packed! Nothing was wrong with my suv. New breaks, tires, even extra tires ran and drove smooth. Market value was still over 5000 and that was what many were selling same suv but not as in good condition as mine for. I nly used mine to drive the kids a couple of blocks to and from school.
I was selling extremely low. Infact someone was selling one like mine but damaged with blown gaskets for 1500. My ad stated selling uncertified and as is as it is used.
First girl said she wanted to pay 500 and wants me to get it certified. When I told her price is low and as is uncertified. SHe started telling me its a scam to sell uncertified and do I think she is stupid? Well yes i do. As you obviously do not know or bought a used car before. Secondly then she should buy cars from dealers like I always do! Oh but she wants a 500 certified car they would laugh at her.
The other was a man who was said he was a part time home mechanic. He test drove the car by himself and immiedalty placed a down payment. Of course the car drove well and it was only taken off the road 6 days before. He then asked for 300 more off so he can get anythin fixed... lol Guess I am a charity organization now. But we needed the room. SO I said yes. When he came back he check all over, again which is fine. But then said," I bet your emergency break does not work and it will cost me money. Hoping for another discount. He ran and checked it with me and he was saddened it worked. He drove it home and although I gaved him a manual he said my dashboard light don't work, wanting more money off. Hmm listen the suv has a sensor the lights come on by itself at night. So then he tried to attempt to say the car had zero oil! BIG LIE as my husband topped it off the weekend before... AND as well the suv has an oil sensor that goes on when it also needs an oil changed and I give it oil changes everytime the suv comuter tells me too. The app I dont mind. Its a free service... so whatever... its some of the people buying you have to watch out for. They want it for FREE. MY sister also called me up yesterday as she is selling a wood sleigh bed for 150. Well below value. She is being asked for delivery as well and lower price. SHe does not have a truck and if she did it would be useless because she would be paying for them to take it from her if she has to pay for its delivery

THIS WASTE OF AN APP SUCKS!... LOADED WITH FAKES & SCAMMERS!
February 24, 2018

Ok everyone, here's my story about my experience with LetGo, First of all, in the the beginning when I first heard of this app, I thought I'd try it, and boom- Success with 8 Items sold! Then just recently, I had posted another 5 Items, and seems that people will say "Hi, is the item still available"? When I go to respond with a " Yes, it's still for sale". Then - NOTHING! GRRRRRRR! So Here I am being serious about selling my Items, and it seems people are playing games, low-balling me, or they'll say "Oh, That's too far for me to travel"(ummm DUH... I'm like did ya read my item description carefully to see my area), or They'll message me early in the day and say " Ok, what's the address, I'll be on my way shortly and then hours later tell me "Oh, I'm sorry how about tomorrow instead, I can't today!. After I freed up time, got the items ready for them in all."(Take about wasting my time). Then like a fool, I message that person back the next day to follow up with a " Are you still interested", or a "Do you need directions", or " HELLO?. Are you still coming or what?".(And I'm like ready to flip at this point!)... I can't stand that $#*!, and it tics me off! I had to write "No games, serious reply's ONLY" after each of my item posts, and they still do it! So, that's how it is with the "People Part". My other complaint is is that seems when I post an Item, after a short time... my posted items go way down under like 30-50 other posts! C'mon now, that many people did NOT post that many items that quick, and so it seems the people in my area probably don't see my items and they'll have to scroll WAYYYYYY down to get to mine! GRRRRRRRR! I think the reason why all of this has happened to me and many other people is because it's smooth and easy going in the beginning, then the FAKES and SCAMMERS are unleashed!... hmmmm, LetGo has something up their sleeves or somethings going on! I'm just so disgusted with the WHOLE APP, and I'm glad I'm NOT apart of it any more because I've deleted my account! There should be stricter guidelines, or ways to filter out fakes/People playing games n' such! I dunno, but LetGo- you "SUCK"! I rate this app a 1,. It doesn't get any worse than this and I'M DEFINITELY STAYING AWAY!

First, let's get something out of the way. I'm a skeptic's skeptic. If an individual/ business/ org/ site/ process/ program/ app is full of $#*!, they'll never pass my sniff test. When I read some of the reviews below was not surprised. No matter if it's Amazon, eBay, Craigslist, Letgo or any other site, many millions of American consumers lack common sense and good judgement. Consequently, they end as victims and unwilling participants in all sorts of online shenanigans. Chances are better than excellent that if they got screwed on Letgo it was at least partly their own fault.

Now about Letgo.

The Good:
I've now listed several dozen items on Letgo from our garage and attic. We even listed items during our recent tag sale. The app is fairly simple to use. Posting is relatively quick and easy. It's also fairly simple to communicate via messaging in the app. The rating system is basic and a nice idea, but many people have not or have never better rates so it isn't all that useful just yet.

We have sold at least a dozen items now faster than Craigslist (same item listed both places, same time) and faster than at tag sales. Not too shabby.

The idiots who complain about lack of cell information aren't the brightest bulbs. Who the hell gives out their phone number unnecessarily? Use common sense.

The Bad:
Developers apparently thought users would be so incredibly lazy as to need quick reply buttons with preset phrases and no 2-step process of select and send. They placed these red buttons directly above the keyboard where users can easily accidentally press them. As a result, you'll occasionally send "quick" messages to users which you did not intend to send. And you'll send a couple more messages apologizing for the error... thus rendering these buttons an inconvenient pain in the $#*!. For large fingered individuals such as myself, this happens often even when taking great care. Those buttons need to go.

Next, categories. Letgo lacks a decent set of categories. Too fee and too specific. Consequently, you are forced to put your automotive tools into a stupid unrelated category such as Home & Garden. Was it really that difficult for the developers to visit Craigslist just to see and then recreate its basic but effective list of categories? It isn't a patentable feature. There is no excuse.

Next, changing ad titles. Apparently someone somewhere in Letgo Land has been authorized to fck with your ad titles. That's right... shortly after you submit your ad, some schmuck somewhere at Letgo decides what *s/he* wants to call your ad... and they edit your ad title without your permission. Often making it too generic to be useful. Fortunately you have the ability to change the title back to whatever you had previously. It's annoying, Letgo Overlords. Cut the bullsht.

Next, bullsht buyers. Unfortunately, you'll encounter asshles everywhere you go. They exist on Letgo too. We've encountered idiots who attempt to bully people into selling. That's right... they actually think they can pressure you into taking their shtty lowball offers. They'll also ask questions that had been clearly answered in the ad... because these lazy $#*! morons never read the ads before contacting sellers. Then there are the always-pleasant buyers who ask a thousand questions, expect immediate answers and never follow through. To be fair this is a problem with Craigslist buyers too.

The Ugly:
It appears Letgo *may* be using fake accounts to generate a false impression of interest in an effort to get people to sell/stay on their app.

It's a tactic straight out of the online dating industry. Fake accounts that interact with users in an attempt to eventually upsell them from free to paid services.

When you wonder why, over the next several months, hundreds of Letgo "users" favorite your items without once inquiring about them, or attempting to make an offer... you'll understand why I believe this might be true. I could be wrong. There could be hundreds of people who simply favorite items that they might like and never follow through with inquiring about them for any number of reasons. Time will tell, but if at some point it is revealed that Letgo used fake accounts to generate interest... you read it here first!

Lastly, the user interface is poorly organized for browsing. Letgo should implement better filtering. Until then you'll be forced to scroll through hundreds of shtty ads for utterly useless stuff in an attempt to find what you want.

So, folks, that is my initial take. Some good, some not. With a little patience, a little caution and some common sense, Letgo isn't bad. It's another app to add to your list of apps where you can quickly buy and sell crap as needed.

Letgo was a completely terrible experience
September 19, 2017

I'm going to include some detail here, because I think that is necessary in order for people reading this review to get a clear sense of the issues that I have experienced with Letgo. I have some furniture that I need to sell, and was excited to learn about Letgo. I was selling a number of different pieces, which came as a set, but which I did not think I could sell as a set. So I posted each *different* piece, with photos and descriptions of each, (in other words, there was no way these pieces could be mistaken for each other.) In the text of each post I mentioned that the whole set could be purchased for less than purchasing each item individually.
After putting in a lot of time and effort to include great photos and a complete description of the pieces, I found that someone had almost immediately flagged me for supposedly fraudulent behavior -- apparently they didn't look closely, and decided that I had posted the same item multiple times. Okay, so I changed it to one post for the whole set, with an explanation that the items could also be purchased individually.
And then, having learned that lesson, I proceeded to do the same thing for an office set that I also need to sell, (posted it as one set, rather than offering the individual pieces.)
And finally, I posted a couch. T
Oday, I received a couple of messages from an interested buyer. I replied, but was surprised to see that he was listed as being from New York, so I asked him about that, because I am not able to ship these items.
I mention these specifics, because I don't know what Letgo decided I'd done wrong this time, because they didn't bother to tell me, but the next thing I know, in the middle of this potential sale, without warning or explanation, Letgo apparently deleted my entire account.
I am left guessing as to the reason for this. Based on the fact that there are *two* warnings appended after the potential buyer's responses, warning me to "be careful when exchanging phone/email details", (we hadn't done so), and inviting me to block the potential buyer (why?), I am left guessing that some nasty person must have gone out of their way to flag me, (erroneously, as I never did post any item more than once), or that somehow my question about the general location of the potential buyer somehow broke some obscure rule.
My biggest issue is that I wasn't warned, explanations were not given, and after all the time I put into posting in good faith and with honest and careful detail, Letgo decided to terminate my account in the middle of a potential sale. A potential loss for both me and the buyer.
Really bad policies, Letgo. I am a legit and almost ridiculously rule-abiding poster, and if I could so easily fall afoul of your policies, then I stand as a warning to others.
I wasted more time trying to find answers to what had happened to my account, when I found that my account had apparently been deleted abruptly, (just one day after I posted my items), in part because I couldn't believe this had actually happened. And because I was in the middle of a potential sale.
But in the end, I realized I was just throwing good time after bad -- Letgo is a rotten apple, and after wasting much of my time, I found that it was just sucking up more.
My advice? Don't waste your time with Letgo!

TERRIBLE
September 5, 2017

In the beginning I thought this APP was the best and easiest way to get rid of some things around the house and make a few bucks. I personally enjoy the shopping aspect rather than selling. There are some good deals out there if you've done your homework. Most sellers are right on the money and fare with what they are asking. However, there are those that are OUT OF THEIR MIND! Most people don't realize this is a glorified garage sale. I have learned in the few months as a seller & buyer people want everything for FREE. Absolutely Ridiculous. If you are a buyer it is best to look for items in your area or how far you are willing to drive. I would NEVER recommend purchasing with PayPal or any other form of payment ONLY CASH. If you get scammed its your own fault. Be cautious. If you can help it meet them at a shopping center near you. Have them notify you thru LETGO when they have left with an ETA. Have them text you when they arrive at the location. I found this to be the Best way to weed out the many losers, scammers & only assures you you have a serious buyers.
My complaint is there CUSTOMER SERVICE... IT'S TERRIBLE! THE ONGOING GLITCHES that NEVER get fixed or addressed. The photos in NOTIFICATION are too small you cannot see the item that you FAVORED that now has been sold. You use to be able to see the item that you lost out on. I personally want to know that is how I can keep track of pricing merchandise. Because I am a seller too. The other issue is the items that I have FAVORED and was on my "WATCHLIST" Have disappeared. This has occurred in the last WEEK. CUSTOMER SERVICES is NOT responding to any e-mails.
Very frustrating. I am no longer getting hits on any of my items. Probably bcuz of my multiple emails.
I'm out... No longer will be a seller. People DON'T understand when you say the price is FIRM.

Tech support & Reviews are a joke!
June 2, 2017

Have been using app for several months now and, while I admit I've bought and sold a few items for reasonably good prices on Letgo, most of the time is just a waste of time and when you try tech support or cust service, almost every single response is "always" the same some "canned" or "off the shelf" response to refer to their FAQ section. Don't think I've ever gotten a live person to ever even respond to me. Even when you respond specifically asking if they could actually read the complaint or issue you're having and actually take the time to address it specifically, you'll get the same "have you tried looking at our FAQ section? Most of your problems can be addressed there" answer. Next, the order of pictures you attempt to set up, naturally wanting to make the most appealing and one you would think would be most eye-catching be the first, after your ad posts, their system somehow moves that picture you wanted as your first gets moved down 2-3 spots resulting in a picture that may show a fraction of what the most appealing part of your item would be and will show some stupid small tidbit of the entire item is that you're attempting to sell. Tried the useless tech support numerous times about this and got absolutely nowhere with the same rediculous "have you tried our FAQ section? Responses, so no assistance whatsoever. Lastly and probably most significant, after several months of earnestly doing your best to earn a 5 star reviews and positive comments, out of 34 5 star reviews showing, when I go to look at my reviews and count them, 14 of some of my "best" reviews are completely gone!? To be honest, most of the items I list on Letgo, like many other people who use the app regularly, I also list the items on Craigslist and maybe a few other apps, which by the way are pretty much useless as well, OfferUp being one of them where at least 60-70% of the responses to items you're trying to sell are absolutely rediculous lowball offers to the point where on that app I literally have to put on the bottom of all my listings "Any Lowball Offers will be ignored", most of what I sell gets sold on Craigslist! Lastly, the results you get when searching for a specific item almost aren't even close to what it is you're trying to find so you have to spend forever scrolling down what the app deems somehow relevant to your search, in the hope that you'll find what your looking for. The automatic listing feature where it begins the listing with the color or colors of your item such as black and white whatever or grey and white whatever is utterly nonsensical and just adds to the amount of time you have to waste scrolling through pages and pages of items that aren't even remotely close or relevant to what it is you're looking for.

My Experience of my 2 weeks on Letgo
April 19, 2017

I have several items for sale on here. I've gotten a handful of messages, but have not sold anything on here. I bought an item on here and it was a smooth transaction with a fair price. I was happy about that!
CONS about this site:
1. It is so hard when I can only post an ad from my Iphone. I would much rather use my laptop!
2. You have to scroll UP to see all the pictures! Some people are NOT that smart and probably don't realize that at all!
3. There's a limit of 5 pictures! That stinks!
4. The ad information is too small to see! There's a oval with MORE INFO and if you don't click on that, then you have NO idea what the details are about this item!
Again, most people are too impatient to take the time to find that and read!
5. I haven't found out how to bump my items to the top! HOW DO I DO THAT? UGH!
6. There are "filters", but even when I "save" it, it doesn't save. What's the point of that?
7. I looked up "dress" in the search box and none of MY dresses showed up at all! My products are not visible! How am I supposed to sell anything on this website if it's not visible or easy to find?
I put in MY location (which is in a totally different section) and still my ad hasn't shown up!
8. Contact! Ok people, use common sense! This site will ALERT you when someone sends a message regarding your items. It is just plain RUDE to message someone after 10pm at night and before 9am in the morning! You could just save it to your favorites, THEN at a DECENT HOUR, contact the seller.
You may say, just turn off the alerts, WHY? That's the whole reason to USE this site! To sell your items, but COMMON SENSE says, Uhhhh yeah I'm not trying to sell my item at 2:30am when you see it when you come home in the middle of the night from the bar!
The same goes for sellers! Don't message anyone at crazy hours and be prompt in responding!

PROS about this site:
1. It shows me how many people viewed my items.
2. There are not a lot of duplicate posts (you know, one seller posting HUNDREDS OF TIMES!)
3. You can get verified, but why does that matter if the site doesn't hold you accountable? PLUS, I DON'T have a Facebook account, so that doesn't help.

So overall there are more Cons than Pros. I would hope the people who run Letgo fix all these issues!

Tip for consumers:

Always meet at a safe, public place, Now even police stations have a Safe Place to meet. Let someone know where you're going and why or take someone with you. Inspect your items before you hand over money, plug it in and use it before you buy it!
