There are others out there that are good. This company misrepresents its services. I signed up and was not able to speak with an attorney. I scheduled like I was supposed to and the attorney never showed twice.
They don't want to refund your money even if they can't provide a law firm for you. Just don't use them is the answer.

After 23 years of hit and miss representation with Legal Shield in Portland OR, I am done. They allowed a powerful opposing party - a federal agency, to sabotage and abort my counsel. This disqualifies them from the bar, if provable. Anyway their assistance is only good on small matters. For important cases like your profession, they evade rigorous or effective representation.

New attorneys offering opinions that are not researched or supported. IF they agree to send a letter on your behalf it is worthless and designed to produce little if any result, just an impressive letterhead. This is by design. The idea is to suck you into paying for attorney services and pretend to give you a discount.

Your legal plan provides you a preferred member discount of 25% off your lawyer’s standard hourly rate for services not specifically covered under another benefit of your plan. A retainer fee may be needed to receive legal assistance under this benefit. It is up to the discretion of the attorney how and when payments can be made. Since retainer fees vary per area of law and state, we cannot give an estimated retainer fee amount. Thanks.
Does anyone know how long it takes,to reinstate a membership? They updated my new address& phone and payment information. However I don't have spending charge in my account history. That seems weird to me. Each time I call it states the membership has been canceled,it doesn't say pending.

They were horrible this time around, They called after hours and when I tried to call back immediately, I encountered a message that they could not talk to me after hours. I then set an appointment. The woman stood me up. When I called to see why she did not call me, I was left on hold for twenty minutes a second time, I am extremely appalled how treat legal shield members are second-class citizens, who pay a monthly fee, if they are not retained full-paying clients. The lawyer did finally get back to me. Apparently, the schedulers had double booked her. No excuse. This put me behind on ever task for the rest of the day. I think this is a scam to get clients. I liked the lawyer but did not like the process.

Representative sounded like she didn't want to do her job comparing with the last representative that her job by submitting a consultation with an actual attorney to help me with my situation but today with this rep sounded a bit unprofessional and needs to know how to work with actual clients like myself. I didn't sign up to deal with unusual representative who doesn't know how to do a good job.

The problem is not resolved. There were many errors made 20 years ago and we cannot seem to get these resolved. We need Finova Finance (went bankrupt 20 years ago and apparently the accounts were assumed by General Electric Finance) to provide Hawaii Bureau of Conveyances (BOC)(on a PROPER form acceptable to BOC) a release of mortgage. Just saying the deed was paid off is not enough according to BOC.

What’s LegalShield’s cancellation policy?
You can cancel at the end of your eligibility period any time in writing at support@legalshieldcorp.com. For annual memberships, you can cancel any time after your first 12 months. In 1969, an Oklahoma insurance salesman named Harland Stonecipher was in a car accident. Even though he was not at fault, Harland had trouble paying the expensive legal fees from the accident.
