Deceptive practices and hard to cancel subscription. I had Legal Shield subscription for several months and needed their advice regarding some fraud case. Lawyer called me just to say that they only would consider my case if I upgrade to business plan. Legal Shield also make you jump through hoops in order to cancel your subscription. First I spoke with rep who tried really hard to convince me to keep my subscription, then she transferred me to an automated message that informed me that cancelation is only temporary unless they receive written request from you to cancel and if they don't receive it in writing they will resume charging your credit card.
I have zero faith in this company's services or credibility! After paying for services for 4 months I was unable to log in because their system treated my service as cancelled! Then when I finally decided to actually cancel, I was told that I needed to do so in writing and that my fees may not be refunded, despite never being provided so much as a pamphlet or having used the service at all! This is a SCAM! The customer service rep actually had the gall to blame me for their system being flawed and not being willing to jump through hoops to gain access to a service that was touted to be convenient and effective!

I cannot say enough good things about legal shield and my representative Martha Everett. I have used this for everything from landlord issues, car accident, putting together an LLC to even writing our will! You can pay them on time. Every month, for a decade. When you need them they will not fulfill the promises in their contract. They will make up lies to get out of it. When you sue them in small claims court, they get your case dismissed by claiming you agreed to arbitrate. Their salesmen hate them because it is Multi Level Marketing and 99% of the salesmen are supporting the upper 1% without ever even breaking even.

After being a member for 8 years, all the suddenly received a "LegalShield" letter from the provider services saying my membership was cancelled without notice.
I contact eh corporate multiple times and ask why the respondents said they can cancel the membership anytime if they want to.
I will not recommend using this company's service because they cancel the membership without notice when they know you need to use their membership the most. This company toss their members like toss garbage when their members need the service the most.
I also suspect that people forged this membership cancellation letter because nobody name * as Senior director in the provider services. When I reported to the head office about the membership cancellation fraud issue, nobody did anything. The head office administrative team is not smart enough to protect their member's benefits.

I was pressured into signing up by my employer. I had a pending court date coming up. Legal Shield did absolutely nothing to help me. I soon discovered how difficult it was to cancel this service. It is a multi-level-marketing scheme. (Pyramid) Do not fall for it.

I have called my lawfirm many times over the last 14 years. I'm so grateful that they sent a lawyer to court for me in another state when I was frivolously sued. It didn't cost me a cent.

What a scam! The law firm I was assigned to refused to provide assistance for a topic clearly covered in the contract. Nor would the law firm give me a referral to another, stating "we could give you a referral but choose not to. The law firms have sole discretion to decide if they will accept a client's questions and simply have to say "it's a matter of ethics" to avoid helping a paying client. My supposed "advocate" at LegalShield did nothing to help me. A complete waste of my time and money.

Legal Shield put me in touch with an attorney firm that asked me to fill out a form with all of my information prior to a consultation. The firm then sent 100% of my personal information in an email, completely open and in clear text, as a summary. They have clearly not vetted their attorneys nor their processes.

I had been a legalshield member for 3 years when I attempted to use my membership to get legal support. I submitted the form to get support several times to include- 6/12/2021 7/19/2021 8/10/2021 Neither Legalshield nor my assigned provider ever contacted me. I finally attempted to get support for a different issue in March 2022. For the first time, a provider actually called me. I gave them my information and asked to escalate. Then they went silent again. On April 19th 2022, I received a survey from Legalshield, which I rated as very low. Their loss prevention people began calling me. I asked for another provider but they said they cannot do that. At this point, it was clear that Legalshield had no intent of ever providing me a service

Feldman Kramer & Monaco, Legal Shield law firn provider in New York, could not write a simple demand letter to obtain my mother's medical records. They wasted 3 weeks of my time before referring me to an elder care lawyer that does estate planning for a fee. You would have thought that I requested a constitutional amendment. The process was completely riduculous. On a separate matter, I needed a Civil Court attorney. Feldman referred me to an attorney that handles traffic tickets! I was so angry. The attorney's website says traffic tickets all over so there was no excuse for Feldman to make this referral. Legal Shield offers NO advocacy service. They will leave you hanging with your legal issues. Complaints to Legal Shield fall on deaf ears so do not waste your time. It is a shame that they are not monitored by any legal standard. I guess I should just take my complaint to the Bar Association. Perhaps, an ethics committee would help them understand their obligations.

The attorney called me back same day only because I called super early in morning. Their advice was garbage. They tried to convince me in Indiana that statute of limitations on credit card debt is 10 years. Um no it's not. It's 6 years from the last payment received. The suggestions/recommendations of the attorney I spoke with over the phone wasn't anything new. I finally got into touch with a local attorney in my area who actually knows the law for my default judgement case here in So Indiana. It's a flat rate. I emailed legalshield this evening to cancel my membership. Total waste of time & money. I wouldn't have left any stars if that were an option.

I've been using LegalShield for almost a year and it's an OK site. But you're only going to get legal advice since some areas will get referred to a lawyer outside of LS which you'll be responsible for retaining. So you really won't get much for $17.99 a month
Note***** I canceled the service as of March 15th because I felt that this is just a referral service and also keep in mind not all specialties are serviced on here and that if you're referred out it's at a 25% discount. Also, customer service asks too many questions as to why you wish to cancel your service trying to guilt trip you into staying when you're not getting anything out of it. I gave it a year and I don't see how they're helping me when I am just wasting money.
Hello, let us begin with an apology for the late response, we have just started monitoring this site. The legal system requires every law firm to perform a conflict check. Ethically a law firm cannot represent a client if they have previously represented the adverse party. Unlike other subscription services like Spotify and Netflix, LegalShield requires cancellation requests to be submitted in writing. We must ensure that the person requesting cancellation is authorized to do so. We do this to protect members as upcoming legal situations can cause individuals in the same household (and on the same membership) to take actions that may not be in the best interest of everyone involved.
The service that the law firm provides has been consistently outstanding! I have utilized the service for over 15 years. They are knowledgeable, professional and kind. They have saved me a ton of money. They get results! They have earned my membership for a lifetime. I highly recommend it!

I had legalshield for about 3 years. I got my will wrote up and then kept it for peace of mind. Welp, I ended up being rear-ended by a 16 year old, in a stolen vehicle, running from the cops. I was told by the LS attorney that I had zero recourse and there was nothing could recoup. I saught medical attention for whiplash. Fast forward a little bit and I start getting severe back pain. I tend to tough things out so didn't initial get it looked at. When I finally did it turns out I have severe arthritis and degenerative disc. My doc kept asking if I had an injury but I didn't make the correlation at the time. I recently talked to a real attorney about the situation and I do, in fact, have recourse but the fact that I didn't get it treated when I was initially in pain can hurt my case. The LS attorney simple didn't do his job. I do not, and will never recommend LegalShield for anything more than getting your will wrote up.

So far so good. Signed up for this a few months ago. And im getting what i was promised. Access to real lawyers when i need advice over the phone. It works best if you prep all your questions ahead of time before calling. Because i kept thinking of mre questions and had to keep calling back, and thats a bit of a hasstle

Do not pay them a dime. Literally connects you with what has to be the worse attorneys in California. Would a quality attorney really be partnered with legal shield. I paid for a membership to get help on a specific situation and going on 2 weeks I haven't got the help and customer service makes you file a complaint only to have the attorney reach out and give you the same answer. The attorney that was assigned to me sent me documents for the wrong county and then told me to cross it out and fill in the correct county and couldn't assure me that the court would accept it, then stated that if they didn't accept I would have to type the document out myself…so what did I pay for a membership to speak with an attorney for?! You're better off handling the matter on your own, well at least in my case

Legal Shield is a good concept for those needing ongoing or specific legal counseling as needed. However, the issue as of lately is the mediocre service quality of the attorneys currently staffed. I currently have legal shield and post covid, it seems as of the quality of attorneys working for the Durham, North Carolina office (Merritt Webb) are less than desirable. The attorneys are rude, condescending and rough around the edges. I would go as far to say they are this way due to their lack of competency.
Once I can find a better option, I will be canceling my membership

I was really in need of assistance. I submitted 2 claims, one of which I was told, sorry, we can't help, and the other went on for months, it was a lot of back and forth. When contact was finally made to the defendant and they wanted to set up an appointment to have their lawyer meet with me and the Lawyer from Legal Sheild, it was directed from Legal Sheild to have them contact me directly to work it out...Huhh!? The reason I needed help was due to lack of participation and now it fell back on me and the defendant went ghost right after that, now I was back at square one, currently in a small claims battle - Very Disappointed, membership ended.
